This is where I will be, and anyone else, posting any relevant information about places, lore, monsters, and so forth. Everyone is free to add to this as long as it doesn't conflict with something already in place.

Caelfall Government

Caelfall is run by two, but equal, factions. The Clan Council, and the Guardians. The two are interconnected and are relatively one and the same, just in charge of different areas.

The Clan Council is made up of representatives from all the clans in Caelfall. The representatives tend to be the Clan Heads, but this isn't always the case since many Clan Heads are Guardians. It is led by the High Elder of the village. The council is in charge of all internal village affairs, and passes a variety of laws for the town to follow. They also act as the judicial system and handle any disputes or conflicts that may arise.

The Guardians, on the other hand, are in charge of security and enforcing the laws of Caelfall. They also act as a counter balance to the council and are allowed to override any decision that they deem is either unfair or damaging to the peace in town.

Technology in Astrasis

In times long forgotten massive civilizations powered by Manara dominated the lands, but the turning of ages have seemingly rendered every last trace of these to dust.

A lucky person may still stumble over one of their creations though, although only a Mancer who happens to come in contact with one will instantly sense the Manara flowing through its surface. These relics are often referred to as Granissian Artifacts due to a scholar named Graniss who was the first to obtain insight on these mystical objects.

Each Granissian Artifact has a unique function. Some focus and enhance a user’s abilities. Others allow users to call upon abilities that would otherwise be impossible for them. Unfortunately Granissian Artifacts are impossible to recreate today, as the art of Manara infusion has long since been lost.

- In the present day Manara has been completely forgotten by the majority of the world, starting a veritable the Dark Age. Travel is limited to a good horse and carriage, medicine is mediocre at best, and only the elite of the elite can afford to have their homes made of stone.

-In Caelfall, life is significantly better. Although not nearly as advanced as the empires of old, the villagers still incorporate Manara into their everyday lives and use it for everything. Medicine and medical care are also very successful due to the town’s talented clans of Aquamancers. People rarely die from disease and injuries here.

The Lethal Spoon

Image

The Lethal Spoon. A rather famous gambling house/bar run by the High Elder's wife Galia "Granny" Maelstrom. The joint got its name from a rumor surrounding Granny that she had killed a man with a spoon. Regulars still wince whenever she picks up a spoon, or any kind of utensil for that matter. All sorts of gambling goes down here, however, Granny refuses to allow Aeromancers to participate due to their telepathy and mind reading abilities. Not that anyone would be foolish enough to attempt cheating in the first place.

One of the main and most popular events at the Lethal Spoon is the Drunken Boat Races. In order to participate, you have to down two whole glasses of Maelstrom sake.

Granny has a few rooms at the Spoon that she rents out to friends or pitiful souls she takes compassion on.

All in all, whether it be day or night, the Spoon is always bustling.

The Shrouded Forest

Image

The Shrouded Forest covers a large portion of the Caelarthian Mountains and surrounds Caelfall. The forest is a mysterious place that one can easily find themselves lost in if they don't know their way. Enormous trees that reach heights over a hundred feet with thick interlocking branches block out most of the sunlight, if not all of it hence the name. Only trained Guardians are allowed to patrol it unattended due to the dangers lurking within the forest. Many types of monsters can be found prowling the mountainside. All of which are dangerous to engage alone.

Monster Raids

Being naturally surrounded by the forest, it is not unheard of for monsters to occasionally wander too close to the village. However, this isn't typically an issue since the monsters in this area generally solitary creatures and can be dispatched by a group of Guardians. However, every other decade or so, the village will get attacked by a horde of monsters usually ranging in numbers from twenty to forty. These can happen with little to no warning and usually end in quite a few injuries and casualties. Why these normally independent beasts randomly form large hordes is uncertain. There is also no pattern to the attacks, so they can't be predicted either. In any case, the village protects itself from the possible threat by keeping Guardians in watch towers that keep an eye out for these hordes.

Manara Atrophy (Atraxis)

In Caelfall, there are very few things an Aquamancer can't heal. One of these being a deadly disease known as Atraxis. It isn't contagious, but all the same highly devastating for Mancers. The virus targets and breaks down Manara in the blood stream. This is fatal for Mancers since they live and breathe Manara.

Due to the nature of this disease, it is impossible for Aquamancers to treat because the virus negates any healing that is administered to the patient. It also spreads quickly typically killing its victims within a week.

Onryx Temple

Image
Image

This is the forbidden temple that lies deep within the "Eye of Cael" that the villagers and Guardians are sworn to protect. It is rather large, spiraling deep underground in a giant spiraling labyrinth. It is an eerie and dark place with its obsidian walls and foreboding statues. Any person who steps inside can feel the evil permeating its floors like a miasma. Monsters have also invaded over the years adding whole other layer of danger to its sinister halls.

Another distinct trait of the cavernous temple is the abundant deposits of Manara Crystals found embedded into the walls. The mysterious mineral is actually capable of absorbing and storing Manara, but like the temple, everyone is forbidden from touching them for fear of being cursed.

Onyrx Sanctum

Image

The very heart of Onyrx Temple is its hidden Sanctum. It holds a deep and terrible secret within its walls. A glowing ball of raw power radiates from its center; complex enchantments and inscriptions circle it in the air, the floor, the walls, and even the ceiling. In the back of the room lies four place holders with four... disturbing artifacts. A necklace with a disturbingly life-like red eyeball that shifts and moves as its pendent, a large dagger with a razor-sharp polished black claw as its blade, a long cracked finger with a sharp black fingernail that acts as a quill, and a mysterious blank grimore bound with shiny iridescent black scales. The purposes of these objects is unknown... for now.
