When I was kid I played a video game called Metal Gear Solid 2. If you are familiar with the title you’ll know it was something of a head scratcher but I loved it for the game play even if the plot was impenetrable to my young mind. Anyway now I have a job so I get to indulge in pointless things like nostalgia so when the MGS HD collection came out I snapped it up and rocked through a couple of weeks of stealth action. Until I got to MGS 2 upon which my mind was blown.
I guess I missed a lot during my first play through because the game is loaded with double meanings and is pretty much a commentary on video games, sequels and the nature of reality. All of this is presented in a sequel to a fictional videogame.
Anyway in case you are not familiar with MGS 2 here’s a video that explains its post modern themes
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zx2dgVKY ... 9Q&index=3With this in mind I got to thinking about RP’s and postmodernism. I got a few ideas but first I’d like to know your thoughts on RPing as an activity being postmodern and what a post modern RP would look like.
