There exists a story that was once a legend told throughout the generations. To some, it is still a legend. To others, it is nothing more than an entertaining myth. The story tells of a great war between two races, a benevolent Goddess, and an enchanted forest filled with the voices of laughing children, watched over closely by their fairy guards.
The story begins, as some stories do, in tragedy. A great war between humans and elves raged across the land. Humans were far superior in number, and many elves were falling at the hands of the humans. But the Elven race was proud, vowing never to give up, even if it meant that every last elf should perish. Soon it was that every elf who could use a weapon was needed to fight. They had no choice but to leave their children behind in the last safe place for elven kind; a small forest.
Before the last of the elves left to fight in the war, they prayed fervently to the Goddess Aurelia, Protector of the Innocent, to watch over their beloved children. Aurelia answered their prayers by blessing the forest with a magical barrier that hid it from the outside world. No one would ever be able to find it, and as long as the children stayed within the confines of the protective barrier, they would remain safe from harm, and they would never age.
The Goddess then bestowed a second blessing. She called upon the elements: water, fire, earth, wind, light, and darkness, and from those elements, fairy guards were born. Each elven child received a fairy that would watch over them for all eternity.
Along with her blessings, Goddess Aurelia also issued a warning. If any child was to step outside of the forest, the magic barrier would dispel, and the forest would no longer be secret from the outside world.
For many years the elven children lived happily inside the forest, and after awhile, their memories slowly faded. They no longer remembered why the old elves left the forest. They no longer remembered what life was like before their fairy guards were born. And they no longer remembered what the magic barrier had been created for. They knew nothing outside of the life they lead in Harathori Forest . . .------------------------------------
In this RP, you will play two characters: an elven child, and their fairy guard. The fairy guard will only speak to the child whom it protects, no one else can hear them, so in a way, it's like playing one character.
~Setting~
The RP will begin in Harathori Forest. It is an enchanted forest, both beautiful and mystical, filled with woodland creatures and lush greenery and wild flowers. Creeks and rivers trickle through the heart of the forest, and stretch outwards. The place the elven children live is a little town filled with small wooden huts that the children occupy. Everything they need is provided for them in the forest. They gather food in the form of fruits and vegetables that grow throughout Harathori, and water from the streams. Life is simple, but pleasant for the children.
If you travel far enough through the forest, you will eventually come in contact with the massive magic barrier that surrounds Harathori on all sides. It looks like a tall translucent shimmering rainbow. The children often stare at it in awe, but their fairy guards always warn them never to pass through it.
The RP will eventually move to the outside world.
~Children~
The children are all of one race: elven. Their ages can range from 12-16 in appearance, no one remembers how old they really are. Their appearance can vary in everything with the exception of their pointy ears.
~Fairies~
There are six types of fairies: water, fire, earth, wind, light, and darkness. In order to guard the child they were born to protect, the fairies can control the element they were born from, and use it as a weapon if necessary. So far, no fairy has ever had to use their powers for attacking or defending. They only use them for fun. Fairies can be either male or female, and like the children, their age is by appearance only.
~The Relics~
The old elves left some things behind before they left. These things are kept in the ruins of a small castle where the elven royalty once lived. They are known as the Relics, and going to the castle is frowned upon, but some adventurous children dare to go there now and then. The Relics consist of such things as old books, weapons, musical instruments, and jewelry. Hidden deep inside the castle is an ancient book that tells the story of the great war, and the world outside the barrier.
~Rules~
This story revolves around children, so bear that in mind in terms of content. Any romance should be kept to sweet puppy-love type stuff, and language should be practically non-existent. There may be some violence later, when they reach the outside world.
