Some people call them spirits of the dead, others call them the symbol of change. Then there are those who really know what an angel is...and who they can choose to be.
Ace looked down at his deck of cards, keeping his eyes fixed on the bold symbols that were nearly sacred to him. He realaxed his muscles, focussing mainly on the shape and patterns on his front card. He counted to the number thirty, as he always did during a tense poker game.
"Full house!" A man stated proudly as he laid down his cards. Some of the men around the table grunted and refused to show their cards. The man smiled hugely as he scooped the pile of poker chips out of the center of the table. "Well boys, looks like I've won again!"
"Royal flush," Ace whispered as he laid down his card. Most of the men sitting at the card table stared at the cards in disbelief.
"CHEAT!" The man yelled. Ace let out a loud laugh. "Most men would take that as a threat, blondie."
"Well, I'm not like most men," Ace smiled. He stood up and took his chips out from the center and turned away.
"You're going to leave right in the middle of the game?" The man asked. "Your more pathetic than I thought you were!"
Ace turned to the man and in an instant threw an ace card right at the mans throat. Blood poured down his neck. Ace walked to him and pulled the card out of the mans neck. "Who's the pathetic one now?" Ace whispered.
The men stared at Ace in awestruck horror. "You were a wonderful audience," Ace bowed. He turned and the left the murder behind him. Ace knew what he was and he knew how he had became that way. The only thing he didn't understand...was why he couldn't forget that reason.
The day he was born was the day I took my first breath. The day he died was the day I died too. Remember, listen, and never be forgotten.
