Life was busy on London's city streets, far more busy than usual for a casual monday morning. Or so Ashiella thought, sitting outside the small cafe while sipping on her morning dose of coffee. It was sunny, too, which was a refreshing notion all on its own. The last few days, Brytain had been cursed with a gloomy onset of cloudy weather. It had a miserable rainy week, but Ashiella didn't mind. She loved the rain.
"Are you daydreaming again?" Orion's voice cut into her lost thoughts. She looked down to the white tundra wolf, her beloved Daemon.
"I was simply enjoying the morning air," she sighed.
Orion scoffed, "Right, like now's the time for it. We haven't had a job in nearly three weeks!"
She rolled her eyes, leaning back in her chair, "What do you expect? The pickings are rather slim if you haven't noticed."
It was true, they needed a job. And it's not as if London's lower class was bustling with work for thieves. Especially Gyptian thieves. But it wasn't as if Ashiella could disregard her heritage, despite the fact that unlike other Gyptians, she enjoyed a solitary lifestyle, with only Orion for company.
Her eyes returned to the city streets, people and their daemons coming to and fro. Magisterium officials kept everyone in line. When two of them passed, she could practically feel their gaze burning into her skull. But she cared little. She had no regard for any authority, even that of the Magisterium.
"They aren't quite fond of our company, Ashe," Orion noted aloud, referring to the owners of the cafe. He had been watching them for some time, just as they had been watching Ashiella and Orion. It was natural to be distrustful of Gypstians, but the reasons for such she could not recall.
"Well," she smirked, "thier coffee's a little bland by any means."
She took the small mug, throwing it to the sidewalk as she and Orion rose to their feet.
