Ruka's Medical Clinic - Now Hiring.

Haruka stood outside of a small building. Inside the main door was a puny office space. She had spent the last few weeks making it presentable. A few curtains had been hung to give privacy and a safe had been brought in to hold some of the more valuable medications and pain relievers. Her long black hair blew around her face as the breeze sent a chill down her spine. Rain was on the horizon and the weather was just about to become a nightmare. Ruka gazed up at the small sign that hung on the building. It read “Ruka’s Medical Clinic.” It was smaller than she had wanted but it would do. Besides it was just the first step towards her ultimate goal.

Her feet carried her inside allowing her to stop behind the main desk. She pulled out a piece of parchment and a pen as she went over her inventory. Bandages, Antiseptic sprays and cleansers, thread for stitches, cauterizer, small needles, a defibrillator, cloth, medical tape. There were also special items to make a cast should it be required. Beds for the wounded to rest and heal. IV’s. There was a blood bank in the back which held multiple advantages. She was able to have a meal and keep the rare blood types ready incase someone was in need. People were always in need. This place of death and war it was shocking that anyone was still alive at all.

A soft sigh escaped her as she brought her head down to rest on the desk for a moment. She had the basic supplies and that would help anyone who could not be healed through magic or simply chose not to be. She could of course heal them quickly enough and restore their blood. So many enjoyed taking the easy way to recovery. But what of those who could die by the same means? They needed a place where they could be taken and the hospitals were so costly. She had made an oath to keep her rates fair.

“I need to find someone else. This isn’t my cup of tea any longer. My heart isn’t in it...” The words were muffled as she sat up allowing her fingers to run through her hair. She pushed it back out of the way as her dark gaze moved toward the parchment once more. She wrote out the questions she felt needed to be asked and made sure that the application could be filed out by anyone who wished to apply.

“That will do...” Haruka stood making a copy of the application and placing it on the desk. She needed someone to take over as the medic. Healers were one thing but to teach someone the art of being a medic. What to look for. How to know what could be treated and what could not. There were so many ailments that could take the life of a human. She knew. It had not been so long ago that she had been mortal. Doomed to walk the earth and die. She had been ill before, she had been wounded. She had died. That was why she had begun her training under General Une in the first place. Lady Une had been a wonderful teacher and had taught her well. Yet that was back before everything changed. It was time to move on. It was time to fulfill her dreams.

She smiled a slight curving of her lips as she placed a second sign outside.
