If it bugs you about the gender make her a tomboy. It really doesn't matter to me. Just include the same last name and that she doesn't hate her brother, that's all.

EDIT: Upon looking over the characters... oh my... we have a LOT of girls. Does anyone want me to create a boy instead? And if we need him to be old enough to be a romantic interest, perhaps the brothers could be twins? I don't mind all that much, though. We could just go with the younger sister, and have some people convert genders if they need to. (of course we could always do nothing if nobody cares all that much)
