New and looking for fun people for group role play

So I have a couple of plot ideas that I have been developing over time. I look to role-play to further develop my skills and pinpoint my weaknesses. Ive always liked writing and i would like to meet others who enjoy writing and role play as much as i do.

I think its important before i get started, to get to know people on the site. Im wondering how people get together here... do they just jump in or plan with email first? my guess is half and half.

My goal is to create a story with lots of characters. It would start in an ancient city, kind of game of thrones like.

We have noble families competing for the throne, but the story is not revolved around them... more just the trouble they cause to the commoners and middle class and our main adventurers.

whoever wants to join can create their character but talk to me about it so I know what we already have and what we could use.
