Adventures in the Aether

Summary:

It is the year 1890, and the Planet Earth is changing, as industry and empires expand, overthrowing centuries of inertia, and racing to be the first to claim all of the earth, and the stars beyond. But this is not like our 19th century. Zeppelins dominate the sky, inventors and their clanking inventions dominate the marketplaces, and, most importantly of all, great enormous craft traverse the Lumineferous Aether between worlds.

You are a Traveller in that Aether. Wether you seek Adventure, political or financial gain for your Empire, or wether you are simply seeking a New Life on Mars or Venus, you have left the choking, squalid metropoli of Europe and the Americas, and now forge your own destiny in the space between worlds. But the strange new worlds you seek have their own hazards and perils, as Martians battle to remain relevant in a dying world, and Venus's wild, savage landscape and huge storms beat down on the unwelcome invaders from Earth.

Players who have an interest in 19th century History, Steampunk, Victoriana, Girl Genius, Space 1889 and more besides are highly welcome. Those who don't but are still intrigued, you are equally welcome, and help is on hand if you need it.

Play will begin when there are 5 characters or in a week or two's time, whichever is sooner/easier for all involved.

Although inspired by Space 1889, this roleplay is not a tabletop game, and is intended as a free-form character narrative. There is no over-arcing plot as such, but all characters are encouraged to seek out and discover adventure for themselves, within the bounds of the world as set out.
