A brief summary and what-to-know about the Universe of The Thief of Lights.
Very short and efficient, I say!
Questions concerning background goes here.
--BACKGROUND--
Year 2014: one of many obnoxious years of the age of men. Millennias ago, life wasn't so...
decayed, so tasteless...so regular! Centuries ago, the world of men was merged to the Realm
of Mysticism: together, they existed. In that time, men lived with creatures now legendary:
from faeries to dragons, from captive princesses, to giant snakes known as naga, from
great heroes to greater Gods. However, as time passed and human arrogance grew, the two
started to become more and more distant, until the Spiritus intervened: they were glorious
and mighty warriors, protectors of humans and fae-creatures alike. With the help of Architects,
they constructed Spectraverse: the Heavenly realm for those who were considered "paranormal"
by men. Despite such division, The Spiritus still ward humanity from threats of unimmaginable
caliber: the leviathans. They are beasts, yet not common beasts: they are unsatable predators,
that do not hunt for glory, but for food: and their hunger will not decrease bite by bite,
but increase chunk of flesh after chunk. They invaded countless worlds, and extirpated life from
them, either consuming them ruthlessly, or turning entire worlds in nothing but cattle.
However, magic still dwell in the Realm of Men, Earth: there are those who are strong and keen
in arcane arts: some of them turned their back and practised darker arts, manipulation of Souls.
Such craft was forbidden by one of the beings superior than "gods": He is Andlath from the Order
of Methuir, four knights as old as time that represent the disgraces that strikes mankind:
-Andlath is He who harbings death;
-Edogar, brewer of horrible plagues;
-Ixtreduir, Wielder of the scepter of Blood, he who sees only war
-Veremixer, harbinger of famine.
They are horrific beings, that seek to end everything living or not: only Andlath keeps
them from assaulting mortalkin...or slows the inevitable demise...
Although, they are not the only beings that surpass the imagination of mankind or of the Fae's.
There are twelve of them, from the original thirteen: However, only nine of them are known
to the Denizens of Spectraverse. Those who stand against the Cruel Methuir are the Pale Ones,
known in elven speech and legends as 'aurugo. They are four, and while Methuir are the catastrophies,
The Pale Ones united are the Utopia that, both Men and Fae strife for. They are...
-Aladuil, the Light that renews, restore and bestow life: the opposite of Andlath;
-Voraan, of the Silver Mace: he exists to protect the weak, and stands as the Supreme warden of peace, opposite of Ixtreduir;
-Verana, whose touch grows wheat and poorstone become gold: she is the manifestation of prosperity, opposite of Veremixer;
-Exalia, she who purges malady by merely glancing them. She counters Edogar.
Much like the Knights of Methuir, few have ever seen The Pale Ones: due to their vast nature,
their glorious form would manifest only in special circumstances. However, in ages past, Aurugo
used to dwell by the side of Fae-creatures and mankind and support them with their great powers
and knowledge.
And finally, the last known of the Nine dwells in Earth: his name is unknown to most, but his
duty is great and burdensome: he is Chaos, he who used to rule infinity itself, has been weakened
severely the very moment the Universe came to existence. At first, he hated the pain of being
stripped from his domain: but soon after he realized how deep were the Created, he swore to
protect them, no matter the cost.
His nature is benevolent, and is weak enough to manifest as a human whose strength equals
to legends, agility surpasses heroes of old and endurance admired by many. He currently guards
the Eternity's Veil, the only way to safely enter Spectraverse. The door is located in Greenland, hidden from plain sight.
