La Ciudad, City of Love and Death

La Ciudad de Amor y la Muerte..... Also known as the city of love and death, is at the heart of an almost forgotten kingdom. So alone from any other society or outside government, the Kingdom Esperanza has transformed into a land of crime and, more interestingly, magic, dark and light. La Ciudad in particular is known for its large community of criminals. No force has ever been able to fix the outpouring of crime here. Therefore, a significantly large, secret population of assassins have taken to this area after sunset to get business done. Other than the significant risk of your life to be lost once in La Ciudad, it is a rather beautiful city. Located at the top of a rocky mountain overlooking the kingdom, the sunset is one of a kind here. The downtown city streets had a beautiful view of the far off waves. In La Ciudad, people live and breathe the brisk air of the streets, the dim lights, the bars and the fights, death and passion. Locals gave it the name La Ciudad de Amor y la Muerte for a reason.

One thing that criminals never get credit for is their chaotic parties of madness in the streets. Barrels of beer rolling down the alleys, beautiful scantly dressed women left and right, men passed out under lamp posts, a dead body by the trash can, unlimited use of dark magic... criminals saw this as utopia! And those who weren’t criminals, but loved a crazy time, were usually the stable ones in the town bright enough to run the bars, restaurants, and shops.

Number one profitable profession in La Ciudad? Assassin. The ones clever enough to get through the danger on the streets make big money here. Only the best know how to blend and kill the bounty before they get killed themselves. Everyday is a fight, blade against blade, magic against magic.

Growing up in this land, locals saw this as common society living, and enjoy it. They are able to see through the death into the passion of the city around them. Love and drama after all roam close to criminals and death.

One could say La Ciudad was now entering a “Golden Age”. Unlike most golden ages, the reason this city was flourishing was because of crime and death, and major profit. Criminals ran powerful gangs, illegal businesses were booming, booze seemed to flow from the fountains it was so cheap, and in general life was exciting.

A new criminal has come to La Ciudad, and is shaking things up. He is the leader of Espada Ensangrentada, the Bloody Swords, named Lash. The gang has recently taken credit for majoring killings in a town on the west coast of the kingdom. Many humans were murdered, and hundreds are homeless from the fire they started. Lash was the mastermind behind the plans. At word of Lash retreating to La Ciudad, humans knew there was only one way to seek revenge- put up a bounty on him. Humans put a bounty on Lash for 20 million dollars, the highest bounty any assassin has ever witnessed yet. When Lash learned of the bounty on him, his gang set up fort in the La Ciudad in an unknown location. Espada Ensangrentada has an army now of highly developed black magic followers putting their lives in the way to keep their ruler Lash alive. The assassins willing and brave enough to take on the challenge of Lash’s bounty take the journey to La Ciudad with stride and confidence.

Races in Kingdom Esperanza:

Human: Extremely talented in fighting, with the highest IQ of all the races, humans have adapted to this area born fighters. They don’t have powers to support themselves in this lost kingdom, so they depend on their bodies to be able to fight off weaker magic users. Most humans live around the coast of the kingdom, which is close to trade posts and a fast way out of the kingdom if need be. Not many humans have the guts to live a life in the center of the kingdom, especially near the mountain top city... La Ciudad.

Humans with powers: Advanced humans in this kingdom have managed overtime to develop powers, allowing them to have more freedom on where they choose to travel. All of these special humans have the power to hide in the shadows, along with ONE other genetic magic in ones blood, unique to each person.

Shadow Walkers, also known as the Caminantes Sombra: Rather quiet figures. In the shadows, they dissolve into a cloud of darkness- it's not under their control, the shadows control them. In any light, they appear as normal humans. They only use black magic; As a defense mechanism, Sombras can summon a poisonous air within a certain radius to stun anyone too close for comfort-- the stun lasting at times up to 1 hour, but it's not deadly.

Brutes: Given such a plain name, it is obvious this race is full of massive, slow creatures. With a physique like a mega-sized human, Brutes get up to 10 feet tall. Their skin is like a thick animal hide, hard to penetrate with weapons. They are rather stupid, but strong. They don’t have magic powers, but have the strength and are dumb enough to venture into the center of the kingdom. Brutes make up a big part of the criminal population in La Ciudad.

Sirenas/Sirenos: Beautiful, magical women [rarely you will see males/Sirenos, but they do exist]. No one knows where these women originate from, but they venture into La Ciudad like it is no issue at all. Rumor has it that Sirenas lived the life off another race, such as a human or elf, before their switch; though how the process of changing races was done, no one is for sure; All of the Sirenas are pale skinned and have light blue eyes. Hair color varies to the individuals preference. They can seduce many of the Brutes around. It provides protection from harm most of the time to have the Brutes on their side. To the strong, black magic races around the area, Sirenas know beauty doesn’t cut it. So to add to the looks of Sirenas, they have powerful magics of their own that can put up a decently strong fight against others magic races. (You can have one strong power or two minor powers) Surprisingly, assassins are often after Sirenas with enormous bounties.

Elves: Many of the Elves come from the inner areas of the kingdom. They live amongst the tall trees and magical land in peace. Their homes look like domes made of crystals randomly spread out in the tall branches, away from predators below. This is a very magical race, some good, some evil. They are clever creatures, and have amazing eye sight. They live for many hundreds of years, and are quick healers. Because of their many skills, Elves are usually many of the assassins you find roaming the kingdom and in La Ciudad. Like with any magic user in this RP, elves can have one central power or two minor powers.

A beauty she is indeed. Light milky brown hair that just sits below her back shoulders and pastel green eyes. She has an hour glass shape body that is slim with curves that will make you melt. She has a medium-large chest and her height is about 5"6 or 5"7 feet tall. Her skin is light ivory painted with a smooth pink color to it. It is very easy to see her blush, her cheeks will turn a beautiful rosey pink. She has full pink lips and a small, cute button nose that suits her perfectly. Her fingers a long and slender and has small hands with medium nails. Her eyes lashes are naturally long and she has no use of makeup. Her complexion is flawless. No acne nor blemishes. Truley beautiful. Despite this, she has a huge scar going down her back.

Powers~
Just like most humans with powers, she can hide in the shadows, and is very good at it too. Along with that, she also controll plants, but is weak at this since it is a hand-me down power and is able to only controll flowers and weak weeds.

Weapons~
She has an eletric pole that extends out to be as tall as her, 6 feet that is electric to the touch, though she can't be electricuted since she is the weilder. Once your blood is inside the small patch at the bottom of the pole, you are safe from being electricuted. When not extended, it is about the size of a foot ruler and she stores it in a strap on her upper thigh.

Description

Scarlett is a siren, and as such has the pale skin and blue eyes of her race. Her hair however, Is bright red and perfectly straight, ending bluntly just below her shoulders. Her bangs are cut off to the side, not quite long enough to cover her eyes. She sometimes wears colored contacts. Her makeup is generally heavy, especially if she is working. This includes heavy black eyeliner, smokey eyeshadow in blacks and reds,
and red lipstick.
She is 20 years old, and lives in a run down apartment inside the city, furnished with odds and ends she has collected over the years.
Scarlett is average height, around 5'6", but seems much taller in her stiletto heels.
When off duty, she generally wears tight jeans or leather pants and t-shirts, tanks and a black cropped leather jacket.

Scarlett has pierced ears, 2 in each ear lobe, and 3 more leading up the side of her ears.
She also has a pierced navel, and a tattoo of a sun and moon behind her right shoulderblade.


Personality

Scarlett is difficult to actually get to know, but is very skilled at making men believe they know her. She is not only a dancer, but when men start to get fresh with her, she will meet them outside later... Only to attack and rob them. She feels that they fully deserve anything she would do to them. Scarlett enjoys dancing, seeing it as a release... Plus she makes huge amounts in tips every night!

History

Scarlett was born in the city, and has never known any life but this. Her mother was a prostitute, and her father is anyone's guess. Her mother was killed by a client when Scarlett was 15. She has danced since she was 16 In order to make ends meet.

Scarlett carries a sliver dagger strapped to either the inside of her boot, or in her garter belt...depending on her clothing of the day

Powers

She can easily blend in to shadows, like most of those in the city with powers...seeming to almost disappear at times. Besides this, she can create and control very small fires...which is helpful in a city such as this.

She is a good sort of criminal...in that she won't just attack and hurt someone.. But if she feels like they deserve it she will "get 'em". Also, she will commit nonviolent crimes such as pickpocketing whenever she likes. But I'd like to think she is kind of neutral..haha depends on who she is being compared too I guess :)

hey everyone! hope you all are still here and willing to start up the rp! I have someone else that joined and so I will be writing the opening post ! Keep you eyes out for it. Name: Drake
Race: Human
Age: 37
Occupation: Wetboy
Powers: Ability to meld into the shadows and become almost invisible. Illusions includes but not limited to: Changing facial features and faking a death.

He stands at about 6'5 with almost pale white skin and gray hair his eyes are light green. Although he is muscular you can't tell from the baggy cloths he wears. When he is 'off duty' he wears gray cloths. When he is on a job he wears slightly baggy black silk along with shoes that are almost like slippers. His torso is covered is scars from when he was a child.

Personality

When he is working he is a cold blooded killer who doesn't know the meaning of mercy, and will go through anyone to get to his deader. He prefers to work solo as others would just heed his objective. When he isn't stalking a deader to slit his throat he can be found at a local pub. He has a taste for hard alcohol as it keeps his demons at bay. When he isn't killing someone or drinking himself into a coma he is a cynical man with a sharp tongue. When not in a pub he is either meeting with a client or working in one of his safe houses.

Equipment

He will easily have a half dozen weapons on him at any given time. He favors poisoned throwing weapons like knives and darts to dispatch enemies at a distance. He will have daggers for slitting throats and back stabbing. He also will have a long weapon such as a bastard sword. His safe houses contain hundreds of weapons that he keeps clean and in order he has Flanged maces, Round-head maces, Morning stars, Quarterstaff's, War hammer's, Flails, Chain whips, Lances, Pikes, Javelins, Throwing knives, darts and axes, Spears, Tridents, Poleaxes, Scythes, Sickles, Halberds, Daggers, Broadswords, Longswords, Claymore, Cutlass, Falchions, Flame-bladed swords, Gladius's, Scimitars, Kukris, Machetes, Rapiers, Bastard swords, Battle axes, Long Bearded axes, Bolas, Short and long bows and Cross bows. He has these and many more that he use depending on who he is killing, the disguise he is wearing or depending on what weapon he wants to use to spill blood.

History

He was born and raised in La Ciudad under an abusive father who beat him and his mother. When he was 7 he began to work as a street urchin and slowly he gathered money. At the age of 9 he had acquired enough money to buy a small blade. When he got home one night to the usual scene his mother, on the ground in tears while his father, bottle in hand stood over her. He steeled his face and attacked his father stabbed him in his lower back repeatedly. As he fell he continued until the body was unrecognizable. Covered in blood he was baptized into a world of death.

He left home and changed his name. He turned to crime to get money to survive. Spying and stealing being something his short stature allowed him to excel in. Slowly he gained money which he used it for training. He paid to learn about the various weapons and the art of using them. Training under herbalist's to learn what herbs could heal and kill in a variety of ways. He trained under several small time assassins who taught him many skills. He was taught how to muffle his footsteps and throw his voice. Like a sponge he absorbed this information.

At 15 he went after his first deader, a man who had made many enemies with his taste for death and young girls. He entered his estate in dark cloths and nothing but a short sword as a weapon. There was only one guard who he slipped by easily. He found the man in his chambers with a girl younger than him tied up. As she saw him draw his blade her eyes widened and she began to roll around trying to escape. The man woke to the movement and found himself looking at a boy with a sword. He seemed to be dumbfounded. Instincts took over and he moved with grace as he lunged stabbing the man through the chest pinning him to the bed. He covered his mouth as he drew the blade out and continued. He looked over to the girl who was crying with fear. He remembered his teaching leave no witness's he quickly drew the blade across her throat. He watched emotionless as her eyes glazed over and her soul left her. He wiped the blade on her torn night gown and left. He found out at 18 that he was gifted with powers. He found his job easier now that instead of having to blend in to the darkness he could now become it. He also found he could create illusions. Since then whenever he has killed someone he puts on a different mask.

19 years later and he hasn't missed a deader. Throughout the city he has a dozen safe houses which he switches between monthly. Each safe house exactly the same, hundreds of weapons and every herb known the man. He remembers his training and keeps traps on every door. He recently heard about the enormous bounty on Lash. He will never leave his profession even he does get the bounty. But for a bounty of that price it means alot of blood. As it so happens he has a taste for blood and money.

So he is against Lash, not in his gang. Very interesting. I will be introducing a new character soon that is a member of Lash's gang, you all will like him very much :D ill post as soon as I can! I hate using my phone for internet >_< so slow

O.k no Problem. The word wetboy comes from Russia but it is more known in the book series 'The Night Angel' trilogy. There's a few differences but I like the thought of Wetboys who have deaders instead of targets. "an assassin has a target, because assassins sometimes miss" I guess I should have said something about that. Now then lets hope you get your internet fixed without any problems.

Hi everyone! Looks like I've made a confusing set up with the currency! Sorry ^_^

The bounty for Lash, like I said, is 20 million dollars. I said this in order to show how significant the bounty was.. yet this civilization how I see it doesn't use cash/ 'paper money'. In my opening post I mention gold coins. How I imagine it is that they use a coin system, between gold and silver'other various coins of lesser value. The bounty, the 20 million, will be given in gold value. Hope this clears things up! PM me if there is anything else that is confusing!

Weaponry wise, there is no guns. Stick to swords/ blades/ knives/ magic.

And for questions about the advancement of the civilization in La Ciudad...
It isn't advanced like how society is today; Like I said, there are no guns, no modern technologies. There aren't food stores that look like groceries with isles and isles of food that exist in real life as we know it. Each shop is fairly small with medieval technology/ set ups/ wooden shelves, etc. I don't imagine there being any drug stores/pharmacies that sell pills in bottles (Sorry Housebunny :/) If anything there can be pills made of natural herbs/natural ingredients. Potions, old style brewings, is more of the direction I would take. If anything, I would allow there to be pharmacies and doctors in the human cities on the coast where their society would be more advanced than in La Ciudad.
I guess what I'm trying to get at is this RP is taking place in the far past. I didn't give a time frame because after all this is a fantasy world. The further into the center if the kingdom, the more magical/fantasized things become...That is where the highest concentration of magic users are ! :D
