Earths great city - Rp idea, need opinions

One and a half thousand years ago, mankind forged a great monument in their species timeline and sent their people to leave the planet indefinitely. their species started a great journey which would see them spread across vast distances to explore and colonize the universe which was no longer a theoretical place of science and theory, but a great frontier for them to explore and discover. And as mankind took on this great challenge, one thing was forgotten in the process. As great human civilisations appeared all over the known universe, a small planet known as earth was a failure buried deep below mankind’s new age of success...

In the distant future, mankind has reached a point where they can no longer sustain their species entirely on earth, and so have moved out to more sustainable places across the universe. Earth has been left to fend for its self. Now the majority of the population all live in the one remaining city. It is overcrowded, busy and full of crime. And worst of all, there is no clear authority. The crumbling excuse for a government that was left in charge has since collapsed and the city is falling to chaos. You must not let this place fall apart. You must seize power, against whatever odds, and take matters into your own hands. Only you know how to run this place. Your idea is the only way. All rivals for the power are merely obstacles that you will soon overcome for the greater good. The city is waiting for you. What are you waiting for?

The rp would follow several different people attempting to take control of the city in the wake of the governments collapse. Each have their own ideas for how to run the city, and their own methods for gaining control. A city wide game of diplomacy, deception, bluff and all out war is about to be set in motion, and each character is determined to win. Each character of importance is detailed below, and upon selecting a character, the player in control would receive some additional information to be used at their disposal. This small nugget of secrets and ambitions should hopefully add a unique and interesting feeling of distrust and wariness. Characters are listed below (names are only temporary and will almost certainly be changed)

George - Although the police service supposedly collapsed when the government did, George still commands his force and guards the city prison. Although he has not always made the right decisions, he is respected by most of the service for his ability to do what needs to be done. He is the only person to openly oppose the crime leaders in living memory and is still generally regarded as a hero by most.

Simon - Previously the city mayor, simon has worked closely with George for most of his career. George despises him as Simon often contradicts George brutal methods, but Simon only wishes to play by the rules. Often seen as being weak and cowardly, he managed to maintain very little control when he was in power. Most criminals see him as the perfect leader however, as his unwillingness to dish out harsh punishment allows them to get on without too much fear of the law.

Robert - Robert is a very confident individual and regards himself as the true leader of the city. a few years ago, Robert was one of the biggest employers in the city. However, with money growing tighter and fewer jobs available, many are beginning to turn there backs on Robert. He doesn't seem to notice this however, and still see's himself as the invincible man he once was. After the recent murder of Roberts arrested brother, Robert has blamed the police and has personally sworn to kill George himself...

Adam - Adam is Roberts main opponent and is beginning to gain in power. Where as Robert has usually remained on the right side of the law, Adam's use of underhand tactics and less than legal operations is allowing him to become more richer by the day. It is well know that Adam wishes to overthrow Robert the first chance he gets, and become the cities new leading power.

Mark - The underdog of the city, Mark Is the smallest of the business leaders. However, he has by far the largest amount of support, and supplies goods to most of the city. He mainly does business in the underground parts of the city, and so appears to avoid detection from the other leaders. Mark doesn't appear too ambitious however, and seems content with being one of the weaker forces in the grand scale of things. Whether this is just a long term bluff, nobody can be sure.

Graham - Graham is a recently convicted criminal who has come to calling himself the king of the city. Although he remains locked up in the city prison, he is beginning to mass a cult of followers who are also referring to him as his self given title. He is not really seen as a threat, but his followers are growing, and contain some of the most dangerous people in the city... If Graham ever breaks out, it could spell bad news for every one.

John - John is a very mysterious individual. He doesn't reside I the city itself, but on a large ship just off the coast. Although he was been kind of forgotten the last few years, thugs appear to be working for him again, and causing riots through the streets. His motives are unclear, and he has been known to be extremely violent. Coupled with the fact he is one of the richest men in the the city, his presence is rarely a good thing

??? - Very little is known about ???. It's a graffiti tag, and has been found near the corpses of criminals... Very little attention was given to it, as these kind of events are common place in the city. The issue has become of concern to George and Simon however, after it was found near the corpse of Robert's brother recently, within the city prison...

(All of this is experimental, and is likely to change before the actual rp is posted. If anybody likes the idea, would be interested in joining, has any questions, any suggestions or just generally hates everything about it, please post below :D)

I have now turned this into an actual rp, so people can now join. I'm no longer using the pre designed characters, but they stand as good examples of the sorts of characters recommended to play as... People who are of some important within the city.
