FMA: Bloodshed [OOC]

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Ninjasaur on Mon Feb 08, 2010 7:59 pm

Many bloody conflicts in Amestrist started for unclear reasons. What is clear is their result: bloodshed.

- July 1588, the Riviere Incident.
- October 1661, the Cameron Uprising.
- February 1799, the Soapman Incident in Fisk.
- March 1811, the Wellesley Incident.
- October 1835, the First Southern Border War in current-day South City.
- March 1911, the Second Southern Border War in Fotcett.
- ???, the Pendleton Conflict in the West.
- 1914, the Liore Insurrection.

The date is October 9th, 1593. Any witchcraft called Alchemy is completely banned or monitored closely. Because of the horrific outcome Alchemy has in some situations a black mark has been placed on it, shunning it from most (if not all) civilizations. Many people mistook an Alchemists thirst for knowledge for a quest of power. A black powder has recently been developed; with it weapons that launch projectiles using fire have been created that revolutionized warfare. A large military force under a council of people representing Central's needs nearly wipe Riviere off the map. The death toll was great and the survivors were forced to flee to the warmer South.

Previously an exiled group of Alchemists established a small refuge on the border of Amestrist and the Southern Ocean (current day route to Xing). The survivors of the Riviere Incident arrived at this refuge and made a pact with the Alchemists. The hard working people of Riviere would cultivate the lands and bring their agriculture and other things to the needy Alchemists in exchange for their hospitality. However, the people of Riviere made the alchemists swear to abolish their research of alchemy. Now a village of many outcasts, the Alchemists and others must learn to coexist with each other.

Some Alchemists view alchemy as a science and disagree with the agreement and continue to practice and research Alchemy in secrecy. They use code-names in their secret meetings (ie: "Fullmetal") incase they are overheard to protect their identities. The warm forests of the land shelter the village from most outsiders and offer an area to study Alchemy.

Technologies:

This period of time is referred to as the "High Middle Ages". Gothic armor was first used until more practical armor that covered only the vital areas of a person was necessary. Swords, shields, etc. were still commonly used with emphasis on guns like muskets and arquebus. Artillery such as cannons revolutionized the ways fortifications needed to be made.

Rules are simple, you're not a god so don't make your character one. Everybody should understand they have a mortality. Control only your character and keep it PG-13.

The setting is the Seaspray Enclave , during a borderline Medieval time. Alchemists have abandoned their research mostly, making almost everybody a regular.

Name: William Rin
Title: Lawless

Nationality: Creta
Age: 11
Gender: Male
Physical Profile:
Image

William is a tall and thin child, standing at 4'1 and weighing just under 40 kg. He's of Creta descent, a country to the West of Amestrist. With long, dark blue hair and light blue eyes, he stands out from the average Amestrist citizen. He normally wears a white button-up shirt and thick fur jacket in most climates. To adapt to different environments he normally unbuttons or buttons his shirt. Black shorts outline his wiry frame, cutting off just above his black boots. The most notable part of his attire is an eyepatch covering his left eye.

Equipment/Attire: Under his eyepatch is a transmutation circle with a crucible of creation for creating things out of raw matter that spans a strucota (hexagon) to give options but limit his alchemic ability. The circle is bridged with two graceful arcs (ying and yang style) to ensure a smoother transmutation. The general shape of the circle is one circle with circles at each point of the strucota. These circles linking the primary circle represent a requirement for fuel to be consumed. This makes it almost impossible for other alchemists to transmute his work and use it against him.

Biography: Born in Crete, his father brought William to Amestrist after his mother died giving birth. In a futile attempt to learn more alchemy, William's father became an official immigrant and studied the taboo of human transmutation. Just as his father thought he unlocked the secret the reality escaped him. He became insane through his studies and directed much hate towards William for taking his love. Eventually he couldn't wait any long and attempted the taboo. He used infant William as a sacrifice. Unfortunately everything went wrong and his father was devoured by the taboo, William lost only an eye. A man passing by saw a brilliant flash of light and found infant William. Recognizing the alchemy he brought William to a nearby town where he could be safe from the horrible truth of his fathers actions. The man found a happy yet infertile family, the Rin's, who adopted William and raised them as their own.

His 7th birthday approached and a curious William broke into a home and stole some valuable books and brought them to the forrest. He began to read them and shortly after started imitating strange drawings he saw. After realizing the circles held magic he began taking a deep interest in them and studied the art rigorously. The man again met the now boy and warned him of the dangers of alchemy. He payed no heed to the warning and continued to research. William showed great potential and the man became his mentor.

They practiced for four years in the forest, and William slowly mastered alchemy. The villagers became suspicious of the two and eventually discovered their witchcraft. A disappointed Rin family disowned William and they were forced out of time. They traveled Southeast and eventually stumbled upon Seaspray Enclave where they currently take refuge.

Occupation: Student.

Alchemist Ability: Named by his mentor, William earned the title of the "Lawless" alchemist because of his unique ability to ignore certain alchemic laws.

Let me know if something needs to be changed.

Name: Erik Hofman
Title: Sightless

Nationality: Amestrist
Age: 14
Gender: Male
Physical Profile: Image

Erik is the boy on the left, the other being his brother, Amery. Erik stands at a wonderful height of about 5' 3" and has blond hair (at least, that's what people tell him). If someone were to remove the bandages from around his eyes, they would find that he has gray eyes that change color if the light hits them just right. He has a scar that runs across his face, starting at the right corner of his face and ending near the left side of his chin.

Equipment/Attire: Erik wears a black muscle shirt and black pants. A wide, brown belt keeps his pants up and holds his various bags of chalk. He doesn't actually use the chalk for doing alchemy. He prefers to use it for making marks to prevent him from getting lost since the chalk smells and feels different from other textures. He wears a pair of black gloves with a white design on them (they pretty much look like Roy's gloves). The gloves only have two fingers, however, to cover the pointer finger and thumb. The white designs are on the palms of the gloves so that they are harder to see.

Erik also wears a white bandage around his eyes. Being blind, it's harder for people to believe that he's an alchemist and he prefers to keep it that way. He wears a black collar around his neck with two silver tags attached to it. One tag has his name on it while the other has his brother's.

Biography: To say that Erik's life had been normal would be an outright lie. Sure, the first seven years of his life had been normal. He lived in a normal family, had a daily routine for the first half of the day and was free to spend the rest however he wanted, and he was loved by his parents. It wasn't until his father found out that his mother was studying alchemy that his peaceful life disintegrated.

Erik's father had been deathly afraid of the mere idea of alchemy. When he found out that his wife was practicing the forbidden art, he became frightened and wanted to go to the authorities. She didn't want him to, however, and that soon led to a fight between them. During the fight, the neighbors overheard the noise and called the authorities to look into the matter. Before they could arrive, however, she had left and had taken her two sons with her.

After that incident, they simply went with the wind. Erik and Amery learned alchemy from their mother and neither knew why the subject was so disliked. When he was about ten, Erik, Amery, and their mother were found out by the inhabitants of a town and chased out. Erik got separated from the others and ended up falling down a steep hill. When the townspeople found him, he was more dead than a live and everyone believed that he would be unable to use alchemy. For that reason only, they decided to help him out a bit.

When he turned twelve, Erik left the town to search for his mother and brother. While wandering, he eventually stumbled across the small town of alchemists and survivors of the Riviere Incident. He decided to stay there for a while and ended making his home there. He always keeps an ear out for any news of the rest of his family, though, and believes that he will find them someday.
Occupation: Being blind, he really doesn't have one.

Alchemist Ability: Erik wears a pair of gloves embroidered with transmutation circles upon the palm of his hand. In the glove on his right hand, just below the fingers, a piece of flint is sewn onto the cloth. A piece of steel is attached to the same place on his left glove, allowing him to create sparks by simply clapping his hands together. With the aid of the circles he is able to adjust the oxygen densities in the surrounding atmosphere, amplifying the small spark to create and manipulate flames almost anywhere in the area. However, one drawback to this specialization is the fact that it is utterly useless on rainy days.

Important Notes: Erik is blind which really hampers his helpfulness. The only reason he can use his alchemy is because he has learned to locate about where a person is by listening. If a person doesn't move, then he can't 'see' them and is unable to do anything about them. As long as a person is making sounds, he can hear and locate them pretty easily. Being blind, it's also very easy for him to get lost. He usually makes chalk marks or little nicks in walls so that he doesn't get lost. Having lived in the refuge for a little over a year, he has an internal map of the place but, if he gets dizzy or unexpectedly dragged off somewhere (or something along those lines), he gets lost and is unable to tell where he is.
FRIENDS: Will look at you like you're crazy when you tell them you're an alien from outerspace.
BEST FRIENDS: Will break you out of the loony bin and drive you to New Mexico to meet up with the mothership.

There are very few personal problems that cannot be solved through a suitable application of high explosives.
Who was the first person to say "See that chicken over there... I'm gonna eat the first thing that comes out of its butt"?
