Food for Thought: Uncle Fiend's Words of Wisdom

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby StandardFiend on Thu Apr 07, 2011 12:00 pm

Good morning, everyone. And good afternoon, good evening, and good night, wherever and whenever you are.

Every day I'd like to share with you a quote of special significance that will hopefully give you something to chew on throughout the day, and maybe offer a little enlightenment, too.

So grab a cup of coffee, relax, and enjoy the Quote of the Day.

I want to stress that this is not a place for silliness; if you would like to discuss these quotes meaningfully, I encourage you to do so. And if you have your own to add, then please do. But keep it serious, please.

Today's quote:

"The charm of history and its enigmatic lesson consist in the fact that, from age to age, nothing changes and yet everything is completely different. "

—Aldous Huxley, 1952

O heart, lament not, for this world is only metaphorical.
O soul, grieve not, for this abode is only transient.

For anybody who's watching, sorry I haven't updated in a couple days.

Today's quote:

" 'Take some more tea,' the March Hare said to Alice, very earnestly. 'I've had nothing yet,' Alice replied in an offended tone, 'so I can't take more.' 'You mean you can't take less,' said the Hatter: 'it's very easy to take more than nothing.' "

There have been a decent number of visits to this thread, but no commentary thus far. Let me know if there is interest in keeping this going, because if not I don't need to keep updating and bumping the thread.

Very nice Fiend. I've got one for you.

"A man does not have himself killed for a half-pence a day or for a petty distinction. You must speak to the soul in order to electrify him."
