Ho there, roleplayers! T'is me, a reasonably (?) experienced Sci-Fi roleplayer. Today, I have an idea for fans of the game, FTL: Faster Than Light.
Dahell is FTL?
Okay, sorry to spoil the mood, but if you asked the above question then you'll have a hard time in the RP, which is why I strongly suggest you get some experience with the game's plot.
FTL: Faster Than Light is a real-time strategy game that blends space battles, economics, decision-making and micromanagement into a fluid game. As the captain of one of many varieties of spaceships, you are tasked with flying through eight different sectors, all while being pursued by a massive enemy fleet, to reach the end goal: a final showdown with the enemy's flagship. It's fun, so google it and have a look. Also, prepare for rage. A lot of it.
The Outline
If you know what FTL is, good! The roleplay will follow a small (3-9 people) crew of assorted races working for the Federation. Manning a Kestrel cruiser, the crew is to investigate a number of strange distress signals on the borders of Federation space.
Basically, the roleplay is a prequel to the game.
The Mechanics
The roleplay will run a standard course, with constant random events thrown in by me. The roleplay will explore the relationships, ideals, and general psychology of the crew, but also their experience during events, making for a good blend of action and character development.
The Roster
Here is a simple outline of the crew we need. An (O) tag by the name means it is not critical to the roleplay and can be excluded. Note that new people joining can't just immediately drop in, but an event will be arranged to bring them in. All roles are subject to change, and custom roles will be allowed if they impress me.
The Captain: Played by me. Runs and pilots the ship.
The Lieutenant: Second-in-command. Controls some systems.
The Gunnery Officer: Aims and fires the weapons.
The Engineer: Keeps everything running. Pretty much lives in the engine room.
The Doctor (O): Administers medical aid to their allies.
The Marine (O): Uses the Teleporter to board enemy ships and wreak havoc.
The Scientist (O): Performs science.
The Negotiator (O): Negotiates good deals for the crew.
The AI (O): Controls some parts of the ship.
Most characters can be one of many diverse races: Engi, Zoltan, Rock, Mantis, Human, Crystal, Slug, or Lanius.
Closing statement
So yeah, FTL roleplay. Please, do tell me your thoughts.
No.
