Introductory post... hello, all!

Hello hello, and greetings to all!

I've had a few online handles but of late I go by ZombieKels, and respond equally well to Zombie, Kels, or some fascimile of the two. I started a bit late in this crazy creative world of nerddom, back in my freshman year of college in 05. I started with some fanfiction, quickly progressed to LJ RP, moved from there to AIM, and then after a few years of all of that I ran into some computer issues, developed a *gasp!* adult-type life, and kind of fell out of the loop. However, I now work the overnight shift and I usually end up with a ton of free time while I'm at work, and stumbled upon this fine site and thought I would take another stab at the wonderful world of roleplaying. I've also recently started participating in my first tabletop D&D campaign, DarkSun for those who are interested, and am loving the bejeezus out of it.

I prefer darker themes, science fiction, horror, some fantasy, and modern/present day stories/roleplays as well. The LJ community where I cut my teeth was a wacky out of control place and I got quite the crash course there. I prefer Original Universes and Original Characters, but if I had to pick a preferred fandom or two, I would go withthe Firefly universe, Repo! The Genetic Opera and my first love, the Pitch Black universe. Anime has never been quite my thing but I've liked more than I've disliked what I have seen of the genre.

I am a creative writer with one complete manuscript under my belt and several novels in various states of completion.

My first roleplays were full of your typical N00b pitfalls but I like to think that by the time I drifted away from it I had become a much better RPer, and I have noticed a strong improvement in my creative fiction as a result. I hope to further hone my skill in both creative aspects and maybe have some fun while I'm at it.

Welcome to the site, Kels! There is so many things to do here so I'll break it down into a rough guide for you.

Before you start though, be sure to read through the site's Rules and Regulations.

Now for the guide =].

The Chat - Where a lot of us hang out. Sometimes just normal conversation happens, other times epic roleplay happens. Depending on what you like you can either start a roleplay there, or hop right in. The chat roleplay tends to be faster than forum roleplays with short responses but just as fun.

Then you have the forum roleplays. There are a number of places to start here. First off, looking for a roleplay, or wanting to set one up, the Out of Character is the forum to look in. If you want to join a roleplay, just click on one that sounds interesting, read it through and then just follow the GM's rules in applying. If you want to start a topic Vexar has written a good guide. If you want to see if people are interested in your ideas, the Interest Checks is the place to post a rough idea, to see how many people are interested and get their input.
