Jüd laid under a bonsai tree, at the base of Shigeru Mountain of the Otori Mountain Range. A straw woven peasant hat covered his face, and a straw of wheat danced to and fro, the puppeteer being the boy's teeth and lips. He wore a white, japaneese style, gi over his white pants. With an ankle resting on the opposite knee, his sandles hung brarely on his feet by his toes. A couple of cranes flew across the riverbend, their claws grazing the waters surface as they glided on by.
Not much had changed since Lord Otori Takeo had sacraficed his own life to his illigitamate son, who was raised by the clan of assassins known only as the Tribe. Both Lord Otori Takeo and the assassin Takeshi matched in skill, resulting in both their deaths. The only mystery of the three countries that remained was one known solely to three people: Lord Otori Takeo, Lady Otori Kaede, and the anonymous monk that traveled with Lord Takeo before he became the Otori Lord. The secret hiding place of Jato, the Serpent Blade, had vanished with the monk after Lady Kaede's death.
It all started with Lord Otori Shigeru, the legal brother to Lord Takeo, who obtained the perfectly tempered Katana from his father. Following Lord Shigeru's capture and torture ordered by Lord Takagawa, he was rescued from the brink of death and wished to die a warriors death from his formidable blade and the hands of a loving brother. Up until Lord Takeo arrived at the sacred caves, he weilded Jato with the utmost skill, but alas the blade vanished with the monk into the mountains.
Now, when the lands were promised to be in eternal peace, sadly the oath was broken and yet again the world was at war with itself. With all the heros gone, and the tyrany of death at the Emporer's door, the blade was dearly needed.
They hate what they fear, and they fear what they do not understand.
