This was Northcity; the beautiful, elusive, unreachable city inhabited by ghosts and only ghosts. Not even the ghosts know exactly what the place is, apart from the fact that once you're here, there's no way out. No-one knew it existed until one hundred years ago, when a train somehow, impossibly, ended up in the middle of the city... but that's another story.

A century has passed since a train from the human world ended up in a Northcity train station. The people on that train never found their way back home; they never could find a way back to the human world. So they have lived, for one disgusting, horrible century in Northcity, stuck in an impossible land. They have had to – they can’t die in Northcity. There’s no time there, so you simply don’t age. It’s torture for the humans, but eventually they adapted and accepted it. Some of them still cling to the faint hope that one day they’ll find their way out of there, but not many.

This is Northcity; the discordant, crumbling, dark-stained city, in which buildings burn relentlessly and darkness creeps through every street, eating away at the magnificent spires which were once this city's crowning glory. Everything's aflame, even the distant horizon. The flames there never die -- they are constantly licking hungrily at the sky, as if they are trying to burn it to ash.
The fires and the darkness invaded this city only thirty years ago. No one knows where it came from or why, and no one has tried to stop it from happening. They simply move on, part of the crowd, while Northcity falls to its knees around them.

You’re different, though. You’re curious. You care. You want to know more about what’s happening to Northcity, and you plan on finding out. What you don’t know is how deep it really goes…

So move fast. Find out everything you can while you can. Because the fires are about to rip this world apart.

In this RPG you can be either
a citizen of Northcity; one of the ghosts who opened their eyes after their deaths and found themselves here ,
Or
one of the human passengers on the train that crashed in Northcity a century back; one of the unfortunate souls who has been stuck in this ghost town for an impossible amount of time and has had to cobble together some sort of a life.

Either way, you’re part of a small group who are determined to find out more about the changes that have been going on in Northcity.

Name: Isobel Rose Murray (goes by ‘Rose’)
Age: 16
Gender: Female
What you are: Ghost
Appearance:

Personality: Rose keeps to herself a lot. She’s a calm girl – she rarely loses control. She’s not shy, but she’s pretty quiet, and comes across as slightly sad. However, when someone close to her is hurt or in danger, Rose won’t hesitate to help them out. Since meeting Jude, she's become a lot more relaxed and smiles more often; also she's more comfortable with who she is and where she's living.
Background: Rose currently has no memories of her human life. (I hope to reveal her background throughout the RP.)

Name: Luca Chattam

Appearance:

Personality: Luca is kind, caring, and thoughtful, always putting others first. She's a very friendly girl and is fairly intelligent (although not what you'd call a genius), but when put under pressure or caught in an emergency, she usually flies into a panic and has trouble thinking clearly.
Living in Northcity, however, has taken its toll on Luca. Though she remains friendly and optimistic, she's more reserved and deep-thinking than before. Also, she occasionally flies into periods of depression, where she refuses to do anything or talk to anyone, which is something she never did before.
Secretly, Luca misses her home so much it makes her sick and is killing her from the inside.

Appearance:

Personality: Rin is a very quiet sort, stalking around in the shadows hiding from others during most of the time. He doesn't like to talk, and chooses to be left alone. Though for those who can become his friend it is found he is very nice and kind.
Background: He is a Warrior of the Old, having have lived thousands of years ago. He loves to be left alone, though since meeting Luca he has had a sweet-tooth for her. Sadly he has been too afraid to hold her, spending a lot of time with her. Most days they seem close, though still deep down he is scared.

Personality: Passionate, a bit bitter but kind.
Background (optional): Haku lives in Northcity but he can at times lose it, wishing he'd die or find some way to escape. At first, the city was interesting, but now he longs for movement, to go somewhere.
Other (optional): Good with knives, which he carries with him all the time.
