Introduction

In 2025 the world’s population was growing but stocks were dwindling. Expansion was inevitable, crucial if the exploding populace was to survive. As was the production of food; the purification of more water and the discovery of new natural resources. This pushed our species to venture into the unexplored corners of our planet.

Scientists and researchers were hired, sent into what were considered uncivilized regions and discovered untouched minerals, lands and water sources. But these resources could only be found in poorer countries where their governments hadn’t previously had the means to obtain them. When the wealthier nations saw this opportunity, they convened and set forward a proposal.

They proposed that the West hire those less prosperous to gather the resources, allowing them to keep a small percentage for themselves and giving them a ‘sense’ of financial solidity.

The idea was a surprising wide-spread success; more food and water for all and more menial jobs for the poorer countries. The Western countries used the notion that they were helping the Third World by supplying them with jobs, economic stability, and worldly status when confronted by the United Nations.

The scheme went ahead and the human race flourished. The Earth’s previously untouched bounty was greedily collected, processed and devoured. Initially the “Resource Boom” was slow. It began in Tanzania, but due to many superstitious beliefs, the West found it hard to employ people from the country. After a while though, locals were able to be convinced with promises of better lives and work hastily began in efforts to obtain the minerals and untouched resources. And as a result of the rushed progress, it wasn’t long before cracks in the system began to show.

Reports of illness and accidents were rampant - rapid starvation, exhaustion, deliriums- flooded through Tanzanian worker’s villages. When the reports reached the Westerner’s ears, they were initially unfazed. Granted the “Resource Boom” had been slow to start, but when word was out that the worldwide project was proving such an achievement, local villages were jumping at chance to turn their impoverished lives around. Finally it seemed that the Third World Countries were able to rebuild themselves. As a result of always having so many willing hands, those that did fall ill were seen as expendable. However the infections only spread quicker to other camps, villages, towns and soon cities. With it came violence; murder and mutilation and even reports of cannibalism.

Then having had the disease - dubbed “Nizarri Fever” - traced back to the beginning of the “Resource Boom” in Tanzania, the Western countries that oversaw the project had no choice but to take action. Reluctant to see the boom bust, they sent in doctors and armed forces, scientists and humanitarians to Tanzania and neighbouring countries to ease and appease the situation.

Transcribed below is the last transmission received from the Head of the Medical Team based at Ground Zero in Tanzania.

Five months have passed since the Nizarri Fever outbreak in Tanzania. Due to the amount of exportation from the country, and those that fled after the initial outbreak, it didn’t take long for the virus to sweep throughout the Western population.

Since the outbreak, it is still not clear how the sickness truly originated. However shards of information slipped into the decaying shell of society before its collapse; rumours are that Nizarri Fever is a viral organism, a parasite. One which attaches itself to its host and forces the host into starvation mode, killing it. It then reanimates from the cerebral cortex. This is due to the organism having a rare evolutionary talent of being able to fuse with its host’s brain. This means the mutation of the organism (once the host is dead) has control over many functions, including the decrease of bodily decomposition; meaning the deceased do not rot at the usual pace. The parasite is able to use the host body, relaying it back to primal instinct, using it for two known purposes. To sustain itself through feeding. And according to reports, attack the living attempting to infect them. The infected will also attack animals for food. It is common knowledge now that the contagion is transmitted via blood and bodily fluids being ingested or absorbed.

Reports conclude no one has ever survived infection and that no one is immune.

You have survived on sheer luck and a little skill. When refuge shelters were erected, you made the wise choice to abandon your home and move there. That was just over 3 weeks ago, nearly four months into the pandemic of Nizarri Fever. Within days of relocating to the safe haven, the city you knew was overrun and devastated.
Contact with the outside was lost and containment measures were rapidly set up.

Last night the camp was compromised. Through luck, determination and a little bit of guts, you have survived again. But now you’re out in the open, you need to get to safety again. Before you escaped the camp, you remember hearing an official scream out to all those that could hear, "HEAD WEST TO BLACK FALLS! THE TOWN IS COMPLETEY FREE OF THIS DEATH!!"

There are few survivors left from your YMCA camp. Will you join together to find Black Falls? Or leg it alone? Make the choice wisely, it may be the last choice you ever make.

Death is the last enemy; if we can get past that, we’ll be alright...

Kat was about to sprint out the door when she heard the commotion coming from the corridor further back in the police station. Those damned monsters were everywhere, and the two new people had apparently gotten themselves trapped behind them. Her head was spinning, thoughts and ideas and horrible nightmares coming and going at a terrific pace. "Come on, we have to help them!" she heard Hannah shout.

Kat let out a sigh. She was right. They had to help. She hurried around behind Hannah, eyes widening at the sight before them. "Oh fuck," she moaned, watching as Hannah grabbed a fire blanket and made her way over to the unconscious girl. "This is not a good ideaâ€Ļ" she muttered. But all the same, she turned to the big guy. "Get back! That shit will hit us too!"

She slipped up behind the corner at the end of the hallway and waited for the big guy to get behind her before aiming her gun at the disgusting mass where the grenade was hidden. Her mind was screaming at her not to do it. That grenade could bring the whole hallway down on them. It could trap the two females on the other side of debris, and who knew what was on that side of the hall? Or, the acid from the creature could eat right through that fire blanket and kill them both horrifically.

"Damnit!" Kat shook her head to clear the thoughts and looked down the barrel of her gun. Her vision swam for a moment and she blinked several times, letting the adrenaline do its work as it pumped through her, raising her awareness and driving her will to survive. And then she let the bullets fly. It took three shots before she finally hit the grenade and she barely had time to duck back behind the wall before the acidy goo went flying in all directions, the blast of the grenade isolated by the creature's body as it exploded.

Christian Duffy

Christian let out a sigh of frustration as Hannah ran after the huge intruder, wanting to help him and the teenager. She could get them all killed with her heroics. But at the same time, they had the armoured bus and probably the keys and even if they left them for dead, the idea of ransacking their corpses for the keys was a foolish one. So he followed Hannah and watched in a horrified awe as she snatched the fire blanket away from the wall and dove on top of the dazed girl, screaming at them - "Someone shoot the grenade! The blanket might protect us!" The urge to chase her and bring her back in the line of safety caught Christian off-guard but he halted as Kat fired her gun three times and on the third, the grenade exploded.

The explosion was as disgusting as it was successful. The creature had started to turn towards them and before it knew what was happening, it was in pieces. Instinctively, Christian turned and wrapped his arms around Kat, trying to shield her from obese undead as it went up down and all around. Chunks of poisonous meat sizzled as it made contact with the wallpaper and carpet and a few speckles flung against Christian's scrubs, melting in instantly, burning his skin. He flinched and cried out as he turned and looked down at where Hannah and the girl had been, the blanket totally covered in zombie chum.

"HANNAH! HANNAH, ARE YOU ALRIGHT? HURRY!" Christian shouted, starting towards the pile. "WE NEED TO GO!" The sounds obviously had excited the obese club and the thunderous sounds of them vomiting towards them reached Christian's ears.

Lulu Meoquanee

Lulu's eyes were rolling, her mind swimming in darkness when she noticed the brunette woman above her, like an angel. She smiled softly, thinking she probably had died when the woman crashed down onto her and she groaned, the woman's barking voice muffled. Lulu tried to clear her mind, looking at the thick white blanket over her head. Moments later, a gunshot and suddenly the pressure of what felt and sounded like legs of lamb being rained upon them. She cried out, the air under the blanket suddenly getting hot and the stench was hideous.

She panicked and called out for Cameron, wanting to see if he was alright. But mostly, seeing him for some reason made her feel... well, safe. She looked at the woman on her and wriggled, rolling under her and pushing up, throwing the weighted blanket from them. She stood, albeit shakily and looked for Cameron, seeing him and her heart race settled a little. She outstretched her hand, helped the woman that saved her up and smiled.

"Th-thankyou." Her body felt heavy and weak as she stumbled towards Cameron. "I... I got them... Some-" She tripped and fell into him, looking up at him with a pained expression.

Cameron Hart

Cameron managed to get around the corner as the small army woman fired her gun three times. The explosion was deafening, and the putrid smell of the exploded creature strewn across the walls was enough to make Cameron nearly vomit as he quickly raced back around the corner to see if the woman and Lulu were alright. The grenade launcher tightly in hand, Cameron stopped just short of the silver-blanket pile before him, "Lulu?" he asked cautiously. He could see the fire blanket slightly burnt from the concentrated stomach acid, but otherwise intact and he hoped that the two were ok. Suddenly more shouting filled Cameron's ears, HANNAH! HANNAH, ARE YOU ALRIGHT? HURRY! WE NEED TO GO!"

Suddenly the blanket pile moved and Lulu shakily stood up, a little dazed-looking, but otherwise ok. She took a step forward and tripped into Cameron. He was momentarily stunned, never having been so close to a girl before, without wanting sex that is. "Uh, good." he said clearing his throat, "Good... good.. good." he smiled stupidly, the girl reminded him of his little sister who he hadn't seen for nearly four years, and he supposed they'd be about the same age too. Cameron quickly pulled Lulu away from him and looked her in the eyes, "Be more careful" he said sternly. Then looked to the woman who had rescued her, "Thank you" he said with a strong gaze.

Cameron then looked back to Lulu, "Carry what you got and follow me" he said grabbing the grenade launcher firmly with both hands, "it's time we got outta here! The city is about to burn..." Cameron turned on his heel and pushed past Kat and Christian and reached the end of the corridor and just out into the foyer where he saw a group of the vomit zombies. "This is gettin' tired" he said putting one foot back to steady himself, and aiming the grenade launcher for the center zombie in the group. He pulled the trigger and the grenade dislodged and hurled across the room and hit the floor beneath the group and luckily this time exploded creating a majestic and foul firework of zombie flesh and acid guts across the far end of the foyer. Cameron grinned stupidly and looked back to Lulu and the group, "YEE HAW!" Cameron then strode to the front doors and opened them cautiously and muttered a loud "fuck me till i'm undead" when he saw the nearing fire and massing zombie hoard beginning to shuffle from the zoo.

"Lulu, pull you pants up and start running, we ain't got time to waste!" Cameron burst through the door and down the steps, he pulled the trigger on the grenade launcher once more and sent another grenade hurling through the air and onto the ground just shy of the zoo's entrance. The grenade caused an explosion that sent undead pieces flying in all directions and causing the attention of the hoard to focus on the police station

Cameron cursed loudly and turned to run down the street to the bus, "Get on quick!" he shouted behind him and ran onto the bus to start the engine.

Hannah Blackstone

Hannah heard the explosion behind her as she crouched over the younger woman. Her ears were ringing as she felt sloppy pats of meat hit the blanket that shielded them. She heard the sizzling of stomach acid on the blanket and shook it off, sitting back against the wall heaving deep breaths, thankful that she the blanket had protected them. The girl held out a hand and helped Hannah to her feet, just then her hearing came back and Christian's voice could be heard urging Hannah and the group that they had to go.

"I'm ok!" Hannah said flustered and stepped over a dismembered leg and turned her nose up looking back to the group with disdain. She hitched the backpack up on her shoulders and agreed with Christian, but barely had time to speak when the bigger man spoke to the girl "Carry what you can." Hannah looked to the two and watched as the man moved down the hallway and suddenly another loud explosion echoed through the building followed by a rambunctious "YEE HAW!"

Hannah's eyes connected with Kat and Christian's and she gave a concerned glare but was soon cut short again of speaking when the younger girl pushed passed hurriedly carrying a gun also. Hannah followed with a quick "c'mon" and followed the girl into the foyer and saw the mess of blood, acid and guts strewn across the foyer's far end. "Oh jesus... is that necessary" she hissed recoiling in disgust. Hannah turned to the front door and saw the man yell something to the girl called Lulu and lob another grenade across to the zoo. "STOP FIRING YOUR GUN!" Hannah shouted angrily, "YOU'RE GOING TO ATTRACT THEM!" But Hannah's scolding was ignored as the man ran out and down the street.

"We've gotta follow!" Hannah shouted, making a straight line for the door and out on to the street. She saw the mess outside the zoo and looked back into the station, "We REALLY have to go guys!" she said hurriedly running to the bus, and climbing on board just behind Lulu, looking back to the group and gesturing them to come faster.

Kat blinked, suddenly finding herself enfolded in Christian's arms. Huh. How about that. Chivalry apparently wasn't entirely dead. She poked her head around past him after the explosion, her ears ringing both from the shots she'd fired as well as from the explosion. This zombie bullshit is going to make me go deaf, her mind cursed. There was a bunch of commotion at the end of the hall, but she realized that both women had come out just fine. She let out a relieved breath, only to blink in confusion as the man and girl hurried on by her. Were they just planning on leaving this group behind? What the hell? Why have a big ass bus like that then leave other survivors to fend for themselves? That big guy was really starting to piss her off.

Suddenly, Hannah was shooting past her, shouting. "We've gotta follow!" Kat didn't need to be told twice. She took a deep breath, the pressure in her ribs reminding her to try to be careful... Then she took off running after Hannah. She let out a yelp as an infected came shuffling at a quick pace toward her from around the corner of the building. Kat let out a hiss and pulled her knife out, running to meet the undead and stabbing it in between the eyes, ducking as it clawed toward her just before it fell. She made a face at the gore on her knife, but there was no time to clean it off yet, so she continued running. Another fast zombie was running at the bus and Kat took careful aim, shooting it through the forehead. Then she leapt onto the bus, letting out a grunt as her ribs smarted. The adrenaline must have been forcing the morphine through her system much faster. "Damnit," she muttered. But she continued up the stairs and jumped out of the way so whoever was behind her could get to safety.

Marcus was the last to leave the building, using his submachinegun as a distraction to the trawling masses of flesh. He even managed to clip a regular zombie that had somehow found its way in. Almost falling down the stairs, he shuffled onto the street.

The fire was close, far too close. If he didn't have the ability to see, he would swear the flames were already touching him. By this point to zoo had almost entirely been devoured by the inferno, and there were only a few straggling zombies remaining. The bus rumbled into life in the distance, bringing Marcus back to the situation at hand, and began pulling forwards, slowly at first. Marcus, naturally not wanting to be left behind, began to run towards it, smashing the butt of his rifle on one of the remaining shambling zombies. Even though it was a small distance, it felt like eternity, and if one of those protruding metal...things hit him, he could be a goner. Luckily he missed them and managed to grab the side of the door as the bus quickly built up speed, spinning him onto the steps.

"That was far too close," he muttered, before noting that it was almost as hot as an oven in here. "We really need to get away from this fire." The response was a unanimous nod from everyone aboard. They were gasping, injured perhaps, though it was probably from shock. Kat seemed to be over her injuries, whether they were superficial or whether it was the morphine he couldn't guess, the the adrenaline had stopped her manic giggling for now. He slumped on a chair next to a large metal crate, on it a slightly damaged grenade launcher. Considering all things, this would probably be as useful as an entire army before the crisis. He pondered to whether there were any grenades left.

Cameron Hart

Cameron had floored the pedal of the bus as hard as he could; the bus took off with a deafening screech and the whole thing lurched violently before taking off a lot faster than Cameron though the bus could. As he roared down the street suddenly the zoo's entrance burst in a fantastic display of what could only be described as brick fireworks. The rotting elephant burst through the entrance like a giant meat-train. The creature looked far more worse for wear than when the other survivors originally met it; one of it's tusks was almost completely broken off. The elephants whole body was torn and ripped from the chimpanzees that were still hanging off of it. One of the beasts tusks had two chimps skewered to it, but it didn't seem to bother the creature. Cameron barely had time to turn the bus slightly so as to avoid a direct collision with the elephant. The good news was he managed to avoid hitting the beast completely as it charged directly out of the zoo and across to the police station. Cameron clipped it's backside and a thick, filthy smear of black tar slapped across the bus's windshield. Cameron's nose turned up as a thick, rotting smell burst through the air vents, "Oh sweet mother mary... that's worse than a public toilet!". The bus swerved dangerously from the impact, but Cameron managed to swerve and pull back onto the road without colliding with the zoo's wall.

Cameron looked into the giant side-mirror on the entrance door side of the bus and watched as the elephant - slightly stunned by the bus's collision with it's back side - charged straight into the side of the police station causing the first two level on the front side of the building to collapse and the elephant be buried beneath some of the building. Cameron's eyes were wide in disbelief, but not so much at the spectacle of the elephant but that fact that for the first time since he got on the bus he noticed that he and Lulu weren't alone. Cameron's eyes narrowed in anger and he turned another corner and slammed on the buses breaks, not even waiting for it to come to a complete stop before he stood up and turned to the group. "No way" he said firmly, "There ain't no way you are coming, get off... " Cameron pulled the door trigger and it slid open and Cameron nodded in it's direction, "We ain't got time to fuck around with you lot... This bus ain't goin' anywhere you want it to go.. We're goin' to Bridgewater Forest and you're not invited." Cameron suddenly saw Marcus sitting next to his newly acquired grenade launcher and stepped two paces and picked it up, holding it like his baby, "And you ain't gettin' anything from us either."

Hannah Blackstone

Hannah held tightly to a support pole on the bus as it lurched forward violently, she nearly lost her balance as it took off. She was looking straight ahead and only realised that the whole group had been separated when Marcus jumped on the bus just as it was taking off. "Oh god" she said under her breath in fear, "We didn't all get on". Hannah's internal worries however were broken when the the thunderous crash of bricks and the elephant trumpeting filled the street.

Hannah gripped the pole she was holding onto tightly with one hand and unconsciously grabbed one of Christian's hands for comfort as she watched the scene before her. As the bus hit the backside of the elephant Hannah fell forward and scraped her arm on the bus's floor. "Owww!" she called out in pain as she looked at the shallow, but very long gash down her left arm. Then she nearly vomited when she smelt the black blood-tar across the windshield, "Oh..." she hissed in recoil from the smell, "That is.." her general monologue was cut short when the hulk of a man slammed the breaks on and Hannah, once again, went flying forward and landed sprawled out at Cameron's feet.

Her stomach dropped as soon as he spoke, telling them to get out and that he and the girl Lulu were stopping at Bridgewater Forest. Hannah's momentary fear of being cast out of the bus didn't last long... It took her 3 seconds before she became furious at how rude this man seemed to be. "Hell no." she said in anger as she stood, looking to Christian, Kat and Marcus, then to Lulu and finally to Cameron locking eyes defiantly with him. "You can't...WON'T kick us off this bus" she said shakily, standing up to someone who seemed to be almost twice her size was daunting, "You practically forced us out of the police station with your stunts back there.. the both of you." she snapped, looking to Lulu, "We've even been separated from the others!" Hannah croaked, a few tears welling, "So you're going to take us! Right?" she said, looking to the others so back her up. "Besides.. Isn't Bridgewater Forest on the way to Black Falls? That's where we are going... you at least owe us to Bridgewater Forest for all the shit you just put us through!"

Kat moved toward the back of the bus, headed for the seats. She didn't really want to know what was going on in front of the bus, but she had to hold on for dear life as she moved through the vehicle. She doubled over at the smell of the horrible dead elephant just as the bus swerved and she stumbled into one of the seats, letting out a groan when she hit her side against it. Thankfully, by the time the big guy had slammed on the breaks, she'd fallen into one of the seats; but flying into the seat in front of her was no less unpleasant.

Kat looked around to see why they had stopped, and it was only then that she noticed that only four of the original survivors had made it onto the bus. "No!" She ignored the big guy telling them to get off the bus and leaped across the isle, pressing her face to the window. "Pack! And and.. those other two?" She searched for them but didn't see them in the cloud of smoke and mass of undead that now surrounded the police station. She let out a soft cry and sank down to the seat she'd been standing next to, her eyes finally coming up to view the commotion going on at the front.

"So you're going to take us! Right?" Hannah was saying. She glanced behind her to the remaining survivors, looking for help. "Besides.. Isn't Bridgewater Forest on the way to Black Falls? That's where we are going... you at least owe us to Bridgewater Forest for all the shit you just put us through!" Kat let out a feral growl and jumped up, brandishing her pistol once more. She threw her arm up to aim it at the man, but pain shot through her sides and she doubled over once again, groaning. She slid back onto the seat she'd just vacated, but she raised the pistol again and aimed it at the big guy. "Look, buddy. There aren't many of us still alive in this hell hole. We need to stick together. What the fuck do you have this giant bus for if you don't plan on helping other survivors?" she asked through clenched teeth. She breathed heavily, her left hand draped over her ribs as she pressed through the pain that was beginning to return. "We just lost three people, and I do believe Hannah and I just saved you and your girlfriend's asses back there, so don't you dare tell us to get off."

The little woman glared up the isle at the big man and the girl that was with him, daring them to challenge her. She wasn't in the mood for games. And now was not the time, because the hoard and the fire were still very real dangers. She wasn't worried about the grenade launcher he held. If he decided to shoot it at her, he'd lose the entire bus and the best means of travel away from the city. "We're not going to take anything from you and we're not going to bug you. Just get us to where you're going and we'll go our own way from there."

"There ain't no way you are coming, get off..." announced the bulk of man at the wheel. He strolled up to the crate and snatched the launcher. "And you ain't gettin' anything from us either." Almost immediately both Hannah and Kat picked up, enraged at what this man was doing to them. Chris, meanwhile, seemed to be in a sort of post traumatic trance and ignored the argument. The young girl also seemed to cower from the fight, although from his perspective it was hard to tell. Marcus just glared at the man.

After the outburst from other members of the group, he stood up and snatched the launcher before opening the chamber. Visible were two grenades out of eight available slots. Pointing the chambers to the man, he calmly announced "and with the ability to blow up, what, three of the infected with these two grenades, you could probably do with the help we'll provide." He turned a little so as he could be heard by the rest of the group, "I'm a sharp-shooter, Chris over there is a medic and both Hannah and Kat can certainly handle a weapon. A medic in these times is invaluable, and you could certainly do with us just as much as we need you." He closed the chamber and handed back the launcher. "And if you're not satisfied within a drive to Black Falls you can have your solitary life back, no returns fee," he half joked, before slouching down on the seat.

It was only a moment before he picked up again "oh," he pointed back at the zoo, "and you'll probably want to step on it for now, we can argue later." The others looked to see where he was pointing to see the zoo wall crumble under the intense heat of the fire, and some of it had spread to buildings further down the road.

Christian Duffy

Christian felt like he was watching a horror movie, with the big bulking 'hero' and his hot little 'heroine' in their armoured bus slamming into the ass end of the elephant, a dark sludge with a putrid stench wafting into the airvents. The inferno was ever growing, the heat starting to bring a sweat to Christian's brow. The dull screech of the brakes being stepped on thrust Christian forward and he felt a soft small hand grasp his. Hannah. He looked to her moments before he fell forward, having not been holding on to anything and went skidding along the rough floor, his chest throbbing as the air was punched from his lungs.

He clambered up, wheezing as the big dude, Cameron essentially told them to fuck off. Christian's eyes were watering as he listened to the others retort and refuse, the air returning to his lungs as he stepped forward and gulped a breath.

"You cannot seriously be willing to send us all to our deaths because... Well, what sorta excuse do you have? You don't like nurses? You want some privacy with your girlfriend?" Christian's brow was wrinkled and his voice was getting heated. "As we have said, where we are heading is along the way to your destination. At least take us there, you caused our refuge to be compromised so you owe us!" Christian took another step towards Cameron, his eyes darting to Lulu who stood beside and slightly behind him.

"And if you don't, we... we'll take this bus!" Christian blurted.

Lulu rubbed her head, groaning softly. Cameron, the big idiot had slammed the brakes on and seeing as how Lulu was beside him, watching the African Safari from Hell unfold, she had headbutted the windscreen. Hard. She turned, and watched with wide-eyes as Cameron shouted them all off the bus. And then as they argued. And dragged her into it, accusing her of being Cameron's girlfriend. That was enough for Lulu when the cute guy, the one in the scrubs, implied that Cameron and Lulu were going to...

"EVERYONE SHUT THE FUCK UP!" Lulu stood in front of Cameron now, her face stony. "THIS IS MY BUS. AND YOU ARE ALL WELCOME" Lulu shoot Cameron a quick glare. "BUT IN TERMS OF WHERE THIS BUS GOES, IT IS MY DECISION. I BUILT IT, I CAN FIX IT AND I HAVE MADE IT SO THAT NO-ONE ELSE CAN." Lulu rubbed her forehead and took a deep breath, calming herself. "We will take you to wherever we go, and if helping each other gets us to safety quicker, then I say we stick together." Lulu looked at Cameron, shaking her head before spinning on her heels and shouting.

"OH AND CAMERON IS NOT MY BOYFRIEND." She rolled her eyes and shuddered.

Lulu looked up, wiping her wet brow. Her eyes widen in horror as flames that licked the sky were fast approaching. "Cameron..."

Cameron Hart

Cameron was taken aback when the girls shot back at him. He didn't even have a chance to talk as they drilled him hard and gave, well... Fair reasons as to why he should let them stay. Then one of the men took the grenade launcher and opened it up and drilled Cameron about what he intended to do with it too. THEN Lulu spoke up and Cameron really shrunk down and moved a little away from her trying to avoid her now apparent wrath; "THIS IS MY BUS. AND YOU ARE ALL WELCOME" Cameron smiled pathetically when she turned and shot him a quick glare, muttering "uh..." before she kept on her rant "BUT IN TERMS OF WHERE THIS BUS GOES, IT IS MY DECISION. I BUILT IT, I CAN FIX IT AND I HAVE MADE IT SO THAT ONE ELSE CAN." Cameron stepped to the side as Lulu shook her head at him and then recoiled again when she turned and blurted "OH AND CAMERON IS NO MY BOYFRIEND.

Cameron gritted his teeth and looked back to the group after everyone had had their say and looked to Lulu then back to them. "Fine." he said curtly, "But don't get in my way." he said with a gruff. Then Lulu whispered "Cameron" and for the first time Cameron realised how hot it actually was in the bus. He looked down to the back window and saw the buildings just down the end of the street ablaze. "Fuck my tits" Cameron growled. He looked to the group, shook his head then turned and sat back in the drivers seat, "Hold on to something, we're goin'!" he shouted as he started the bus back up and drove forward, taking a staggering zombie out as he bust forward down the street.

The bus screeched straight ahead and the flames began to barely lick their heels as it roared straight down this main street. Cameron looked with a stern glare into the side mirrors of the bus as they drove on and saw the city was well and truly on fire. Cameron looked back to the road in time to slam the breaks on and yelled "HOLY SHIT!" as he turned the wheel of the bus and managed to bring it sliding to a halt sideways across the street.

Before the bus lay a gigantic pile up of cars and emergency vehicles of all sorts. Completely blocking the groups first route out of the city. "Holy fucking hell." Cameron hissed loudly, "We're gonna have to go back through the city..." he said, maneuvering the bus around and facing it back towards the blazing city. Without a thought he hit the gas and the bus roared forward back down the street and into the blazing city.

Hannah Blackstone

Hannah surged with relief as her new companions backed her up after her scolding of Cameron. She nodded aggressively as they all made their point but was taken aback when the girl Lulu snapped back. Hannah admittedly felt bad for roping Lulu in with the Cameron guy, but reasoned it was a reasonable mistake to make. "Sorry" Hannah said guiltily as everyone calmed down but directed her apology to Lulu rather than Cameron. Hannah then became curious when Lulu looked to Cameron. Hannah looked behind her to see what had now made people nervous and remembered Marcus's warnings. "Oh no" she said solemnly.

Cameron then shouted and again before Hannah had time to react the bus flung forward and luckily she was thrown backwards into a seat this time. "Oh hell!" she gasped as the wind was knocked out of her. The bus speed forward and Hannah gasped trying to get precious air into her lungs. Just as she felt good again the bus stopped and Hannah fell forward, the air pushing out of her lungs again, "LEARN TO FUCKING DRIVE!" she rasped and gasped from the floor, stumbling up and then seeing why Cameron had floored the breaks. "Can't we get a fucking break!?" she choked. Then Hannah felt the bus purr and she grasped a nearby pole quickly and was luckily prepared this time for Cameron's hooning.

The bus turned and Cameron yelled "We're gonna have to go back through the city." Hannah's heart sunk and her stomach lurched to push her to almost vomit. "We won't survive if we cross the whole city..." She said out loud to herself. The heat suddenly hit the bus and Hannah's eyes winced at the unbearable warmth. Hannah then shed the bag that was still on her back and took her jacket off, throwing the two items to the back of the bus carelessly.

Hannah held tight as the bus lurched left at the end of the street, moving down the street away from the the Police Station remnants and the burning zoo. The sweat began to collect on Hannah's brow and she looked with fright out to the building outside, and her jaw dropped as she watched the city literally burning to the ground before them. As the bus roared down the street Hannah watched as glass fell and shattered, the heat too much contrast for the cold wind this time of the year. "We...we..." she gasped, the heat taking it's toll already, "this is ridiculous... Cam.. Cameron... You need a direct route... Take the next left" she said hoarse as she moved down the bus to stand near Marcus, "The next left won't get us out of the fire but - " Hannah was cut off as Cameron violently swerved to avoid a falling fire escape from a nearby building, she hit the pole she was holding onto and looked around the bus in panic.

The bus swerved left and Hannah took a deep breath, smelling the putrid aroma of burning flesh and she hasped in horror as she saw a massive hoard of burning zombies clogging the street before them. "Just drive!" she shouted, feeling Cameron begin to slow down, "We can't afford to slow down..." Hannah had to stop talking, the heat was taking it's toll on her and the city was literally coming down around them... This fire was intense and unstoppable. "Someone else needs to tell him how to get out of the city.. I feel.." Hannah collapsed suddenly.

Kat hadn't realized she'd been holding her breath until the situation seemed to calm down with the young girl's agreement that they were all welcome on what was apparently her bus. She let her breath out slowly and sank back against the seat she was sitting in. She flicked the safety on on her gun and slid it back into the pocket at her knee. Her gaze shifted back over her shoulder when everyone else looked back and all she could do was stare at the blaze behind them before suddenly they were moving again.

Kat let out a groan as the bus came to a screeching halt yet again and she slammed into the seat in front of her. The heat was getting unbearable, and she was sweating like crazy within her flight suit. She unzipped the front down to her waist and pulled her arms out of the green sleeves. The sleeves, she tied around her waist so that the flight suit would stay up. She tugged at the black tshirt she wore, which was beginning to get soaked with sweat, trying to let air get inside, but the only air was the heat, so that didn't help at all.

The short woman looked forward just in time to watch Hannah pass out from the heat. It was no wonder. Kat felt her own mind spinning, but the pain in her ribs was enough to keep her present. She reached for her backpack and for the first time, realized that it was gone. All the stuff she'd brought with her- a change of clothes, blankets, memories from home, first aid kit, were gone. She tried to think back to when she'd lost it, and realized she hadn't had it since she'd been pulled from the truck. Her heart sank within her chest and she wanted to just sit there on her seat and bawl her eyes out; but she refused to cry in front of these people. At least she had the most important stuff still. All that, she kept safely in her flight suit pockets.

Kat got up, swaying from her own dancing vision as well as the movement of the bus as she made her way up to Hannah. Christian was there; he'd probably know how to help her better than Kat's basic military first aid, but she wanted to help however she could. She slid to the floor next to Hannah, but out of the way if Christian needed to get to her. She pulled a water bottle from a pocket down by her ankle. She took a small sip from it, then looked at the nurse. "Maybe if we could- get her to drink a littleâ€Ļ I don't know this city-- so I'm afraid I can't help with directionsâ€Ļ" She tried to breathe slowly instead of panting like she wanted to. Her entire midsection was on fire and every time she inhaled, pain stabbed through her ribs. It was going to be a damned long month with those ribsâ€Ļ If she lived that long, anyway. Chances weren't so high at the moment.

Marcus stumbled towards the front of the bus, holding onto some of the hand rails. The heat was drawing out the air, and it wasn't long until Hannah collapsed (Although it seemed it may have been from hitting her head earlier). The infected ahead of them had formed a sort of living, burning wall. In the mass were even some of the sprinters, doing constant u-turns before succumbing to the heat and collapsing into a small pile. Luckily, the man at the wheel didn't slow down too much and managed to plow straight through them. What none of them could see was the small truck in the road, to which the bus grazed, almost sending Marcus to the floor.

"You alright back there!?" he called back for no discernible purpose. He pointed to a side road, "There, from what I remember that road is clear of cars!"

The bus swerved to the side road, and out of the corner mirror Marcus caught a glimpse of the building behind them, collapsing under the heat. "Holy..." They drove on, the heat subsiding a little, although he would bet you could still cook an steak on the bodywork of the bus.

Christian Duffy

Christian had been standing, watching as Cameron took evasive and dangerous action, spinning the bus around and heading back into the city to escape it. He heard Hannah's soft voice, weaker than usual and turned to see her collapse. "HANNAH!" He cried, running to her aid, pulling her down onto his knees and fanning her. His eyes darted across her face, which was was blotchy and wet. "Hannah, oi Han. Wake up, c'mon." He tapped her cheeks gently, pulled her eyelids open and saw her dialated pupils trembling. He pressed two fingers to his neck, checking her pulse. It was racing, light.

He looked at Kat as she spoke and nodded, "thanks." He took the bottle and cracked her lips open. "Hannah, drink this." He dribbled a few sips of water into her mouth before handing the bottle back. "We need to get off this bus or out of this city. We will all be fucking steamed if we don't."

"Holy..." Christian looked up and saw what Marcus had cut his sentence off for. Buildings around them were buckling under the intense heat. Christian suddenly realised his knees were burning and he shuffled, pain spreading through his legs as he pulled bits of skin away when he stood with Hannah. His skin had begun to melt into the metal floor.

"CAMERON. GET US THE FUCK OUT!" Christian shouted, pulling Hannah to seat.

Lulu Meoquanee

Lulu looked at Cameron, his forehead glossy. Lulu's mind was fuzzy, her long tangled hair sticking to her skin. She watched him concentrate as the man, Marcus, shouted about a clear side-road. She chewed her lip, and looked at Cameron, and then at the others. One of the women had collapsed, the other was injured and the nurse was obviously busy. But they were all stewing, slowly deteriorating in the heat and panic. Lulu had never left the city, and when she had her father had driven. She was unfamiliar to where they were, even now. She looked at the fuel gauge, worrying about the gas igniting or even if they engine overheated and just gave in. It would be the end of all of them. "Cameron..." She whispered, her eyes focused on the bonnet of the bus. "You need to hurry. If the bus gets any hotter, if the engine fails we..."

A blurred image slowly focused beyond the bonnet. A tunnel, a sign indicating the path to the outer-city. And thousands of cars, a wall of them blocking their way.

"CAMERON! LOOK OUT!"

Hannah Blackstone

Hannah felt the heat begin to sear her through the backpack on her back. Sweat and heat were uncomfortable and the drowsiness was irritating her to no end as she fell in and out of consciousness. "Than..thanks" she stuttered as she gulped down the warmed water. A thunderous crash filled the air but Hannah couldn't see what it was was, "Was that a building?" she said softly as Christian lifted her up. She could hear people talking but nothing was holding in her mind. "Get...out of city..." she said pathetically.

Hannah managed to muster enough energy to drink another sip. "That's good" she said with a weak smile. Hannah sort of was coming to, but the heat was really taking it's toll. "I'm so uncomfortable..." she moaned, lolling her head from side to side in protest of her feelings. Christian shouted suddenly "CAMERON! LOOK OUT!" Hannah sat upright suddenly, but her vision was severely blurred, "Yeah.. look out" she said flustered, "Where am I?" she asked dazed.

The bus swerved again, Hannah fell forward again onto the hot bus floor, "Ahhh!" she screamed as her arm hit the exposed metal, "It hurts!" Hannah tried to move up but she couldn't bring herself to get up. "SORRY! HOLD ON GUYS! she heard Cameron yell out. The bus jolted and Hannah went up and slammed back down, "P-please" she asked earnestly, "Be more..." she took a deep breath, the heat was becoming deadly, "care..." Hannah passed back into unconsciousness.

The bus screeched violently to the left, Hannah moved with it. It started to cross something bumpy and who ever was supporting Hannah was preventing her from falling about like a rag doll. Hannah's eyes widened momentarily and she heard someone shouting, "CHRIST ALMIGHTY! THEY WON'T LET GO!" The bus swerved again and again and Hannah was weakly trying to sit up, "I need...to see...what's going...on" she puffed as she took another gulp. "Why is it still.... so hot?" she gasped sleepily.

The bus's engine roared loudly all of a sudden and for a few moments the rough bumps of the road stopped and everything went still. Hannah opened her eyes wider as she instantly felt the unbearable heat of the burning city fade. The heat lifted and instantly things felt better. Hannah was still weak and dazed, and the bus was definitely hot inside still, but the constant heat feeling had faded. "Did we make it?" Hannah asked as she passed out again, this time for much longer. For now, Hannah was down for the count.

Cameron Hart

Cameron wasn't aware of what was going on behind him much. He was taking directions and following them as much as possible, though a few came too late and their escape was delayed as a result. He managed to make the turn to a side road Marcus pointed out, "Good one!" Cameron shouted firmly as he turned and they managed to make it down a decently cleared street. But as he turned again he was hit with another wall of burning dead and had to swerve the bus violently to avoid the collapsing buildings, forcing the others all over the bus. A shrill cry from Hannah signalled to Cameron he needed to be more thoughtful about his driving.

Cameron pushed through the horde and the sweat was beginning to build all over Cameron's body. Lulu shouted loudly all of a sudden "Cameron look out!" and Cameron shouted a very loud "Fuck you!" to no one when the smoke they were travelling through cleared enough to see the tunnel out of town clogged up by thousands of cars. Cameron turned the wheel and turned the bus around and floored the vehicle forward, veering left down another street. Suddenly something burst out of a nearby building, emitting a high pitched scream and Cameron had to wince in pain as it's high pitched scream hurt, even from inside the bus. He veered left down another street, throwing more people about but suddenly things were jumping onto the outside of the bus, more screaming being emitted and causing Cameron to loose concentration.

The sound was unbearable, "what the hell?" Cameron hissed through gritted teeth as he tried to keep the bus steady then Christian shouted CAMERON! GET US THE FUCK OUT!" Cameron moved the bus left and right trying to keep whatever was screaming at them out. "CHRIST ALMIGHTY! THEY WON'T LET GO!" Cameron shouted to one. Suddenly a pathway became clear to Cameron. He took a sharp left and found himself going up a ramp, and for the first time the buildings around them weren't completely ablaze. Cameron it seemed had managed to get them out of the hottest part of the city. As Cameron neared the top of the ramp he saw that the secondary bridge out of town seemed to have been partially collapsed. "Oh fuck!" Cameron shouted, "You need to hold on tight!" Cameron shouted as he, for the umpteenth time, floored the gas and pushed the bus to it's limits.

The bus left the ground and soared through the air, everything went silent as the horrid screaming beasts, whatever they were fell off. Cameron's eyes widened and he let out a deep scream as the passenger vehicle hit the ground with a thud, just clearing the collapsing bridge in time. "That was un-fuckin'-real" he said, seemingly proud of his reckless move. Cameron glanced quickly into the side mirrors of the bus and watched as the group left the burning city behind them and took a deep breath as he felt the heat from the bus begin to slowly fade as they made it further and further.

As soon as they were about 15 minutes clear of the city Cameron halted the bus and opened the doors without wasting another moment and he stepped out into the cool night air as he looked back to the horizon and watched the faint glow of the burning city behind them. He looked back into the bus and for the first time, Cameron allowed himself to care about others as he quickly asked, "is everyone alright?" he got back on the bus and turned to Lulu, "are you alright?" he asked.

Marcus stumbled out of the bus with the driver, panting and getting cold air into his steamed lungs. As the man re-entered the bus, Marcus allowed himself some time to inspect the fine machine. He could see some of the metal nearer the roof was still glowing slightly and watched as it returned to its gunmetal grey. The tyres seemed fine oddly enough, and the bus (for the most part) was undamaged. He did note an arm of some poor infected jammed in the front of the bus but, out of pure disgust, didn't bother to move it. He re-entered the bus.

Inside the others were slowly cooling off. Hannah was now flat out unconcious, while Chris and Kat (Who seemed to be pretty well for her injuries) tended to her. The driver and the girl were also deep in discussion, but Marcus decided to break them up, at least for a little while.

"Hey, er..."
"Cameron"
"Yes, Cameron, do you know where we are?" Marcus asked, quite bluntly. Cameron began to reply before stuttering and stopping. In all the fear they had just fled, but whether they were even on the right side of the city was something. "There's got to be a map here somewhere..." he muttered, giving him an excuse to trawl through the equipment on the bus.

It was all too much. The heat, the bouncing, bumping bus, and her ribs. Her uniform and boots were specifically made to withstand fire- that was the whole point of wearing them as a flyer in the military. But that didn't mean she didn't feel the heat through the metal floor of the bus. When Cameron got up and lifted Hannah, Kat was up next, stumbling back to the leather seats once more.

She flopped down onto the leather and held onto the back of the seat for dear life. She could no longer control her breathing. She doubled over, clutching at her ribs as she panted, trying to get air into her lungs. The screaming of whatever beasts had latched onto the bus pierced her mind and made her feel all the more sick. "Oh fuck!" Cameron shouted, "You need to hold on tight!" Kat looked up with wide eyes, but it was too late. The bus was sailing through the air and she drifted up off her seat.. all in slow motion.

Coming back down wasâ€Ļ not good. She slammed hard back into the seat and let out a sobbing cry as her injured ribs were jarred yet again. The small woman fell sideways in a boneless heap onto the seat as she passed out from the pain. She never noticed the cooling of the vehicle or the fact that it had stopped several minutes later.

Cameron Hart

Cameron breathed deeply in the cool night air. The glow of the city would have been beautiful if the survivors didn't know better. Cameron watched in awe and a small twinge of sadness as he thought about the only place he's ever known and how it was now burning to the ground. Cameron fished around in the back pocket of his jeans and found a crumpled pack of cigarettes. He pulled one out, gave it a slight straighten out, put it in his mouth then pulled a lighter out of his front pocket and lit the cigarette and took a deep breath as Marcus stepped off the bus. Cameron shot him a side glance as he watched Marcus look the bus over, then start to talk,"Hey, er, Cameron. Yes, Cameron, do you know where we are?" Cameron just turned to look at him and rolled his eyes replying curtly, "Who d'ya think I am buddy... What kind of question is that? Do I know where we are? Fucken hell..." he said through gritted teeth, irritated. "I save you lot and this is..." He stopped talking as Marcus hopped back on the bus, "Why did I let Lulu talk me into keeping you lot" he grumbled as took another drag of his cigarette and stepped back on the bus.

As Cameron stepped up the bus' stairs he looked down the way and saw the two smallest woman looking worse for wear. One of them, the sporty looking one, was passing in and out of consciousness. Her head was lolling around and she was muttering incoherent words. "The heat must have gotten to her" Cameron reasoned. His head turned to the second smaller girl. She was passed out to. "Is everybody fucking taking a nap?" he grunted looking to Lulu, then quickly shot his gaze back to Kat's limp body. He could see she was sweating, but not as much as the other girl, and her limp arm was curled under her breasts, "What happened to her?" Cameron asked the others, "Someone punch her in the tit or somethin'?"

Cameron stepped closer to Kat and put his arm on her shoulder "Hey, wake up" he said giving her a little nudge, "Oi nurse boy" Cameron said glancing over to Christian, "I think this one needs you more than that one" Cameron stood up and looked over as he saw Marcus looking around the bus for a map. "I know exactly where we are" he said matter-of-factly to the man. "We're on the western side of the city.. The side we want to be on." Cameron turned and moved to walk next to Lulu and spoke, "You should probably help them..." he said with a small nod to Christian and Marcus, "I'll start driving again... we don't wanna sit out here too long." Cameron walked to the driver's seat and turned back to face down the bus, "I'll keep driving..." he said quietly, "I promise I won't drive like a lunatic this time."

Cameron saddled back into the seat. He went quiet for a moment. The whole bus was sort of eerily quiet. But they drove on for the moment. Cameron flicked the bus' lights on as night fell and a thick rain began to fall. "Ha..." he said to himself, "the weather just keep changing to fit the mood..."

A sort of roar was heard in the distance, not too far behind the bus in vehicle terms; maybe a block or two back. A single light pierced out from the tunnel, a few resounding gunshots echoing. The sound was extremely delayed thanks to acoustics in the tunnel. The motorcycle made its way forward, slowly creeping upon the large vehicle ahead. It's rider was fairly interesting, and for some folks on the bus, a familiar, yet hidden, face. Garbed in slightly torn jeans, boots, a coat with a furred collar, dark shirt, he seemed rather fitting to be on the chopper style bike. Dogtags dangling, a bandanna covering the majority of his face, grey hair flying back in the wind.

Rikter glanced down to the shotgun strapped at his shoulder and sitting in his lap, shifting and checking behind him. The bass guitar was still there, good. After a moment, there was a grin going across his lips as he was pulling up near the bus. "They'll learn that I'm not one to stay down in a battlefield...Heheheh." He chuckled, Russian accent flowing from his tongue. Slowly and carefully, he was moving along side the bus, from the side in which the door was at. "Ey, rebyata! Doma papa! [Hey kids! Daddy's home!]" He shouted in Russian at the top of his lungs, hoping at least someone on the unknown bus would hear his voice. Rikter could only presume that his statement would be heard and the voice would be recognized.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

I'll send ya one.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Could someone PM me a summary? I completely forgot about this roleplay on accident... I feel kind of stupid...

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Ahhh wtf, sorry guys. RPG didn't even tell me there were any posts! Gr. And, one of the posts in another RP of mine just vanished.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Hey Hey everyone! I will post VERY soon! Sorry for lack of activity here.. I've been busy assssss

Re: I Am Still Alive.

We Are Still Alive is a sister RP to this one! I created it with the help of my BFFFFFF Lovelyzombie as an add on story to the universe that is I am Still Alive. Technically it is the same premise, but it's a different story and take on the premise.. if you've liked this story so far... just click on over to We Are Still Alive and have a squizzical... I want this one to take off like this did, but because I will be GM and lovelyzombie co-gm, and I am on at least once a day, hopefully I can keep it alive!!!! LOVE ME!

Re: I Am Still Alive.

I don't either!! I will be around and keep checking back. Hopefully once her parents leave we can get this picking up again at least between the four of us.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Hey guys, I know that activity here has been a little sketchy recently, but I just want to advise that lovelyzombie has had her parents visiting recently, so her time to access the internet has been pretty limited, let alone enough time to make a post. I REALLY DON'T WANT THIS TO DIE!!!

Re: I Am Still Alive.

To everyone who didn't have access to the PM (Read: Everyone but Kexia) I did in fact make a post yesterday detailing how Marcus hot-wired the bus and brought it to the police station entrance. That post has since been lost to the mists of data loss :(

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Hm I think danm is still around. I'll send him a pm and tell him to get his butt on the bus so he doesn't get left behind!

Re: I Am Still Alive.

alright guys, i posted. i will be able to post more often now, getting back into the swing of things with this new job and all.

right, now a serious-ish matter. i think everyone can appreciate the fact that many of us love zombies, love roleplaying and therefore, love this roleplay. so i think that those that haven't posted can understand why i want to keep this roleplay going. so, i am giving everyone a few days to post, then those that haven't posted will be left behind. not for dead, as this RP can support characters reappearing later on, but i am afraid if we wait any long, it will die.

so please, if you cannot post now, let me know here or in PM, and your character can be 'separated' from the group and if you wish to rejoin later, then by all means, do.

sorry guys, but there are others here that want to continue and so do i, so that is the hard truth. cheers.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

I posted too fwends, I thought I might as well make gateway conflict as well as try to make the urgency to get out of the city a little more apparent.... POST I SAY!

p.s. I know Lovelyzombie will be posting shortly.. lifely matter such as work have consumed her but she promises she'll be back VERY SHORTLY!

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Bahaha I love that you went with Kat singing. It made my day.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Made a short post. Not very interesting, but the silence was deafening.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

I could have Kat start singing in a god-awful voice at the top of her lungs if ya like. That'd get the big beasts' attention! Hahah. But anyway, hope everyone's doing alright in real life. :)

Re: I Am Still Alive.

it's alright ya'll. i understand we all have real lives to live.
danm is right, i think most of us are waiting for someone to post back.
however if there is no movement by tonight, i will just get us moving.

i do not want this baby to die!

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Of course you didn't kill it, and like any good zombie this should rise back up in no time. I think the current lack of posts is that everyone is waiting for someone else to post. If nobody posts by tomorrow I'll try to think something up.

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Dang, y'all! I'm having zombie withdrawl here! Did I kill it?

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Sorry about not posting lately, I've been fairly busy these past few weeks. I'll try and get a post this afternoon or tonight. Once again, I'm really sorry about my lack of activity here...

Re: I Am Still Alive.

You are forgiven, mainly because frantic posting leaves me a lot to read the next morning, and reading is cool

Re: I Am Still Alive.

Hey Guys, A deep and sincere apology from me for posting like a crazy fool! I got carried away but I also needed to get Cameron and help Lulu get to the group!!! FORGIVE ME PLEASE!!
