Introduction
There was a land known as Fanttasia. Across Fanttasia were many countries, with their own rulers and customs, but presiding over them all was The Great Balance. The Great Balance is what keeps the war between the light and the darkness from being won by either side. The light would see anything that is not exactly alike to it destroyed, and the darkness would destroy indiscriminately, thus neither are suitable to govern the world. The Great Balance is maintained by the denizens of a great fortress, around which the high capitol of Fanttasia is built, Sielebten. They, under the command of Lady Fate, watch The Great Balance through the Scrying Pool of Dreams and Nightmares.
Usually, the pool will only show black and white specks, telling how strong each side of the battle is becoming. As one becomes stronger than the other, they take suitable action to ensure triumph does not come to it. But recently, something has happened, Multi-coloured specks have begun to appear amongst the black and the white. At first they were few, but more and more appear every day. The fortress is in turmoil over this rapidly growing state of affairs. The only person within who seems calm, though she never seems anything but, is Lady Fate. She has sent word out to specific residents of Fanttasia. Some her followers understand, royalty and great knights, the perfect people to quest, but others... Confuse them. Shunned, ordinary, completely unsuitable. Nonetheless, Lady Fate has sent for these people to come to the fortress, presumably to do something about the specks.
This is where you come in.
You have recieved the summons to appear before her, in a letter, or a messenger. For whatever reason, personal pride, gain, defence of others, honour of your land, clan or order, you have decided to take her up on her request of audience. You travel to Sielebten, with no knowledge of the reason you have been summoned there, and only the slightest mention that others had been summoned besides yourself.
The fortress looms over the city, a sheer cliff facing any who would not take the true path to it's door. The sea stretches from it's back, halting many who would attack it there, while also granting entrance to those who could not arrive by land. At the foot of it's cliffs, lies the capitol itself, bustling and writhing with the lives being lived within it. The sounds of the markets rarely reach the fortress, carried away by the sea breezes, over the red rooftops. White walls hug close around those who enter the city, twisting and winding, losing many who do not live within. However, the main road to the fortress is wide and straight, making it ideal for it's other use, as a huge market for the trade hub that is Sielebten. Every now and then, especially in recent times, a shout to make way for some official or other will cut above the calls of vendors, to part the market-goers, allowing those who seek the fortress, and the council of those within, passage.
Fanttasia is populated by the various characters and archetypes in fairytales and mythology, such as Cinderella and the Big Bad Wolf. We will be playing some of these, though with a few twists, of course. Characters are as follows...
Lady Fate (Pretty much an NPC, she won't actually be doing much in story): Played by me [X]
Queen Lorenn: Played by me [X]
Ella Dronte: Played by Issa [X]
Rules:
General Rules
No Mary Sues. Perfection makes it difficult to get your character to progress, and makes a character boring.
Please be at least a little informed about folklore and legends, or willing to learn.
No one liners. Give us some description!
Please keep it civil on OOC. Only the worst kind of people enjoy flame wars.
Try not to curse every other sentence, but feel free to curse sometimes. God knows, I do it.
Character Rules
In this roleplay, we are all playing a "twisted" version of a character or archetype, preferably from a fairytale or a legend. For instance, you could play King Arthur, but more cruel and judgemental, or the Wicked Witch, but kinder and more compassionate. An archetype would be something like the Big Bad Wolf. That character has appeared in a lot of tales, and thus is an archetype rather than a character.
Here's the character Skeleton:

One Upon a Time?
Most recent OOC posts in One Upon a Time?
Re: One Upon a Time?
EDIT: Huh, I could have sworn I should get a PM when someone puts a character forward...
Is anyone actually still looking at this, anyway?
Re: One Upon a Time?
Or I base it more of the original story.. Where she's mute and it pains her to walk, but she dances beautifully..
& another idea off of that, she's an "air child" doing good deeds, so she can go to heaven.

Re: One Upon a Time?
I'd totally love to make a character.
The little mermaid is one of my favorite Disney movies, so it'd be pretty cool if I could make Ariel!
Her twist would possibly nymphomania.. if that's alright.. If not I can definitely find something else.
Maybe she's just really stuck up instead.

Now, I'm going to head off, and I'll come back tomorrow. Damn you, Greenwich Mean Time!
