a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by ClockworkTowers

Description

Appearance
Scarlet is relatively average overall, standing about 5'5". She is thin, but seems to work out just enough to keep in shape. She has a black blouse with a red ribbon and a black sailor-style collar, and a black pleated skirt. She wears a fishnet corset underneath her blouse, and has patterned stockings in a stitched design of black and red. She wears gray combat boots with a small metal plate, and long laces. Her black hair is cut short, and has a small hair accessory in a skull clip attached to the right side. Her red eyes give off a sinister look most of the time, and are behind magenta framed glasses that are decorated with four chain links hanging off the left side. On her right arm is a silver snap bracelet that she fiddles with when in a tense moment.

Personality
Scarlet is extremely stubborn, and occasionally, even a bit selfish and boastful. However, her no-nonsense, no holds barred attitude towards playing earns her lots of respect. She refuses to give up, and always sees the positive side in everything, and believes a positive outlook can make achieving anything possible. In games, she is generally an honorable opponent, although she does lose her temper sometimes. She mostly compliments others and playfully taunts her opponents into making mistakes that she can exploit for a victory. She has a dismissive attitude towards relationships of any kind, her stubbornness refusing to give to much, although she would be lying if she said she hadn't taken interest to anyone before.

Scarlet Geiger entered the bar warily, a man at her side. This place didn't seem too bad. Relatively quiet compared to the other possible stops along the way. She was due for a Cliffs of the Spirits tournament later, and she figured a nice stop to break the monotony of her trip there was due. She was on the phone however, and quite angry at whomever she was talking to.

Yes, we're going to run Pattern C...what? No, we're running Pattern C. They'll clearly run a 1-1-2 Pattern B layout, which has been super popular this year, so we run a 2-1-1 Pattern C, we completely counter them...

...What do you mean you don't agree with me? Do you know who you're dealing with? I'm only your single greatest asset, and if you want to win, I damn well suggest we go with Pattern C. If we run a 2-2-0 Pattern A, that would give them the win! Pattern A won't work as well as you think it would. Not even a 1-1-2 Pattern A would work!

Ugh, you're hopeless. Fine, we'll discuss this further when I get there. Pattern C is the only way we'll beat SGL MV!

She then promptly hung up without a goodbye. The man at her side seemed apprehensive.
So, Pattern C is the way to go, eh?
, he commented as he poked at her side with his elbow.

She responded fiercely.
Yes! If we run anything else, they'll definitely win the early objectives, and we cannot allow that to happen! SGL MV's history in tournaments shows if they win the early game, they win period, and you guys had a piss poor record before I joined the team. We'll run a 2-1-1 Pattern C, and counter their early game. We win early, they cannot recoup their losses.

She was apparently serious about all this as she made her way to the counter with the man.

Scarlet Geiger huffed and punched in an order for a soda, the man with her grabbing a glass of water.
I swear, I'm carrying Neuromancy right now.
, she remarked as she opened her bag and pulled out a magazine, an issue of Multiverse Gaming, flicking it open to the page she had marked regarding an interview with the leader of SGL MV.

He unwisely spoke a little bit about how the team approached games, and she lapped it up, formulating a plan against it to counter them and win.

The man with her responded to her remark.
Hey! We aren't THAT bad. Besides, we were still doing okay before we acquired you. We weren't dead last or anything, unlike Clan Layabouts, who are just bad period.

He was kind of at a loss though. She had a point. Neuromancy would not have even made is past the preliminaries in this tournament if she wasn't with them. Somehow, she knew exactly what each enemy team would do, and had them run a counter plan that left them in bad spots, making the enemy teams get overconfident and make huge mistakes, thus losing the games.

Scarlet took a few notes on the interview within the magazine before moving to a table right nearby, and setting up her laptop. The man with her seemed confused.

Hey, wait a minute, what are you doing?
, he asked dumbfounded.

Scarlet replied with another huff.
I'm going to play a few games of Cliffs of the Spirits. The AI opponents are terrible, but they'll work to allow me to test my strategy for this evening. We're running Pattern C with a 2-1-1 layout.

In the interview, he all but said that they'd run a 1-1-2 layout under Pattern B. So therefore, I'm going to se tup the AI to run that plan, while I'll set up my side to run Pattern C with 2-1-1, and see how it goes down. I believe I am correct in that we'll win the early objectives, and thus win the game as a whole.

A detailed explanation fitting for her role. The man sighed and smiled, placing one of his hands behind his head.
Well, guess we should be glad we have you on our side then, eh?

He only received a glare from Scarlet.

Scarlet Geiger booted up the scenario she said she would, and began playing, taking notes as she did so, her eyes squinting at times to reread her terribad handwriting.

She also made copious amounts of notes regarding positioning.

Scarlet seemed to gather a fervor in her that wasn't present outside of the game. Even though it was just simulation runs in the practice area of the game, she had a fire for it that really became noticeable to those around her.

She spoke up however to the man that was with her.
Shouldn't you be practicing? Or are you under the impression that you'll just wing it today? You haven't played at all for the last three days.

She had a scowl on her face that could wreck anyone's will. The man responded worriedly.
I'll practice, I'll practice. Don't worry too much, eheh.

He was clearly terrified.

Scarlet Geiger finished playing her simulation games and smiled.
We so totally got them. Semi-Finals here we come!

She was excited now. Her teammate was less than enthused.
We can still lose thoug-
, he was suddenly cut off by Scarlet.
NO! We will NOT lose. Don't carry that attitude into the game please. Otherwise we will lose. Okay? We're not going to wave any white flags, not while I'm around. And if I so much as see a single "Call to Concede" from any of you for any reason, I will leave the team, you can be damn sure of it!

Oh, she was pissed now, raging in the middle of the bar at her teammate.

Scarlet Geiger huffed and went through her notes again.
Yes, we'll definitely run a 2-1-1 layout under Pattern C. It's such an obvious counter to the meta standard of 1-1-2 under Pattern B. With this, we can easily take home the Semifinal spot!

She sat back down and loaded up another game, this time one against actual people, simple matchmaking so to speak. She glanced up at her partner again.
So, about that practicing...there's still time~

She almost dared him to practice too. Which he should, as it's a good idea right before a big tournament. She went to choose her character, also known as a Spirit, that she would use. Her team wanted someone with damage potential, so she chose accordingly.

Her entire being entered a serious mode that managed to still emanate fun.

Scarlet Geiger finished the game relatively quickly, and then packed her equipment. They had to get going.

She took off with the man in hot pursuit as they left for their tournament.

Scarlet Geiger pushed open the door as she entered the bar. With her, no less than three others, all guys. Her headphones were around her neck right now, and she smiled.
You guys actually impressed me. Well done! See, Nathan, if we had run Pattern A, like you wanted, we'd have lost so badly. Pattern C was the right choice!

She made her way to the counter and punched in orders for whatever everyone wanted before she returned to the table her group was now at. Well, she wasn't the team leader, but she might as well have been. Neuromancy had never had a tournament win before she came along, but when she did, they became almost godlike overnight.

She grinned as she set up her laptop upon a table, and all of its trimmings as well. Her group was going to celebrate, sure, but she was going to play some more. Quite frankly, it was safe to say that playing was her life, and how she survived day to day. She turned back to look at one of her teammates.
Hey! We're going to see a trophy this year, isn't that right, Gerand?

The man gave a thumbs up in approval, a silly smile on his face. Scarlet seemed satisfied with that. As her laptop booted up, she opened the Cliffs of the Spirits client, and waited for it to load up.

Scarlet Geiger made her way into a game, matchmaking doing its job. She seemed to be unaware of anyone aside from the game and her teammates at the time, who were sitting at the same table as her, intently watching her play.

She was in total concentration, her movements accurate, and her keystrokes impeccably timed.

Scarlet Geiger kept an occasional wary eye on the others in the bar, however, she mostly focused on the game, explaining some of the finer points to her teammates that she had discovered over a decade and four years of playing Cliffs of the Spirits.

...which is why Jorope is such a useful Spirit on any team composition. His Giant Punch can really get the squishier but more annoying Spirits, especially Supportive ones like Egrt, and force them out of the fight for the objective as it knocks them back an incredible distance. Creating a favorable advantage for your team as you likely win the resulting four against three that you created.

She was playing as Jorope it seemed, the hulking red Spirit that was designed as an Offensive Powerhouse.

Scarlet Geiger entered the bar by kicking the door open. She was absolutely pissed off, and the three guys with her seemed pale and in a total state of fear, staying behind her.

Ugh! Such a disgraceful game! What were you guys thinking?! We fortunately won by 2-1, but that was an easy 2-0! Why call for a concede? Damn, we had that one!

She adjusted her glasses in a huff, and turned to face her teammates.
Any of you going to stay for tonight? Or are you all tired enough to go off to bed?

All three quickly made their exits, leaving Scarlet Geiger standing there with her fuse lit. She turned and made her way to the counter, signaling for the bartender.
I want a soda. I don't care what kind, just so long as it isn't some foreign name I've never heard of.

Her computer bag was with her, slung over her shoulder, her headphones rested around her neck, and her attired was slightly different, for she was wearing a Neuromancy pin that was their Logo. They had finished their semifinals, and were now going to advance to the finals. She didn't think her team was up to it however.

Scarlet Geiger drank some of the soda and sighed. Wistfully. The sigh served two distinct purposes. One was to bemoan the fact that she was one ofthe only good player on Neuromancy in her eyes, and secondly, she had a fangirl, and she had a pissy mood, and was in no way ready to converse with a fan.

She turned to see the man calling out his rudimentary observations.
I'll assume that that is a good thing.
, she stated before she returned to her soda. She pretended she didn't hear her fan at all. Most fans ran up to her and shoved their little notebooks in her face, not yell out to her halfway across the room.

She managed to calm herself professionally however. At least they made the finals. She didn't know how much more she had to carry, but once this season was done, she could leave the team to flail in their own inability to practice.

Scarlet Geiger shrugged.
Beats me. I'm still mostly new here.
, she muttered before standing with her glass to approach her "Adoring Fan". As long as there wasn't any "By Azura" nonsense, she was fine.

She peered over Tiffany's shoulder, observing the game quietly. She didn't recognize this title at all. Scarlet was, as a whole, tiny compared to Tiffany, and most of the others in the bar.

Scarlet Geiger was addressed, and then not interacted with. Incredible. Most other fans squealed shrilly to damage her hearing before exclaiming how excited they were that Scarlet Geiger spoke to them like she wasn't a normal person.

She turned again and took another sip of her orange soda. She was rather suspicious of it, but made no fuss as she continued to drink it, returning to her stool and letting her head rest upon the counter. Why did her teammates have to be such dorks. No positive spirit as soon as the going gets rough.

Scarlet Geiger seemed intrigued.
Battlefield 3? Never heard of it. Seems interesting enough. I don't think I'd bother though. I've got enough on my plate already. Spades is good for an FPS though. Has two sequels too, and apparently another one coming soon which I'll likely purchase.

RTS a weak point? Shooters were overrated! Tactics came from RTS and MOBA in her eyes!

Scarlet Geiger was indeed a gamer. Her tag was TheGeigerCounter on everything she did. She was known for her extreme skill at what games she does play, and for the scandalous trade that saw her join Team Neuromancy for a lump sum of 20K in gold pieces, plus an additional 5K per six months she spent with the team.

Scarlet Geiger seemed to ponder an answer, then came to one.
Spades is a popular FPS. That surprises me that you haven't heard of it. Some of us at Neuromancy play it, so they do those tournaments and stuff. But Spades is a Futuristic Sci-Fi FPS. You play as a Spade, a superior being who basically leads the charge in a scenario based war. However, multiplayer is where everyone goes, with up to sixteen people in shoot-outs. Generally it's 8v8 teams under deathmatch conditions.
