a character in “The Multiverse”, as played by ClockworkTowers

Description

Appearance
Scarlet is relatively average overall, standing about 5'5". She is thin, but seems to work out just enough to keep in shape. She has a black blouse with a red ribbon and a black sailor-style collar, and a black pleated skirt. She wears a fishnet corset underneath her blouse, and has patterned stockings in a stitched design of black and red. She wears gray combat boots with a small metal plate, and long laces. Her black hair is cut short, and has a small hair accessory in a skull clip attached to the right side. Her red eyes give off a sinister look most of the time, and are behind magenta framed glasses that are decorated with four chain links hanging off the left side. On her right arm is a silver snap bracelet that she fiddles with when in a tense moment.

Personality
Scarlet is extremely stubborn, and occasionally, even a bit selfish and boastful. However, her no-nonsense, no holds barred attitude towards playing earns her lots of respect. She refuses to give up, and always sees the positive side in everything, and believes a positive outlook can make achieving anything possible. In games, she is generally an honorable opponent, although she does lose her temper sometimes. She mostly compliments others and playfully taunts her opponents into making mistakes that she can exploit for a victory. She has a dismissive attitude towards relationships of any kind, her stubbornness refusing to give to much, although she would be lying if she said she hadn't taken interest to anyone before.

"We're good. No cops." Adrian said as he began to make his way to the staircase. His journey came to an abrupt end when two bodies came crashing through the glass window and down to the dance floor in front of him. The people in the nightclub crowded around, phones out to record the chaos.

"Jesus!" Charlie exclaimed, moving to join Adrian near the bodies. One of them was Cicero and he was clearly in some pain. Even with a body to break his fall. "I think I broke my fucking leg!" He screamed, reaching out for Charlie.

"Hey! Hey! Chuck, help me. Get me the fuck out of here!" He yelled, Charlie really didn't have much time to decide what to do once gunfire struck the ground near Cicero. "Fuck!" She belted out as she moved to grab the man, pulling him along to get away from the gunfire above.

"Maybe we're not so good!" Adrian called out to Maria, "Shotgun behind the bar!"

Things were going to Hell in a hand basket. Enough of the patrons noticed the gunfire to start panicking, start rushing for any and all exits or hiding places they could find.

More than a few took the opportunity to raid the bar for booze. They were savages in this part of Van Leugen, but nowhere near as bad as in The Normans.

"How does my leg look!? Don't tell me!"

"Danny, shut up!" Charlotte said to the man as she dragged him towards the back of the club. There was a back entrance somewhere.

Maria swore, and jumped behind the bar, well aware that the dress was going to- and yep, there it went, riding up. Why was it always her in these situations? At least she was wearing nice bikini bottom panties. Lines were noticeably less important that her propensity for being at the scene of trouble. She blamed Randin. It had to had rubbed off on her from him, somehow. The woman found the shot gun with ease and checked for ammo. Good it was loaded.

Of course, the issue was there were only going to be nine shots, at best. "Tell me you have more ammo back here!" She said as she took aim, looking for a clear shot. Too many civvies in the way. "Also..." Using her best most intimidating voice, the one that would clear squads from the floor if she had to, she roared with all the fury of a drill instructor whose trainees just fucked up big time. "GET YOUR ASSES OUT FROM BEHIND THIS BAR AND OUT THE DOOR UNLESS YOU WANT SHOT!" And it wouldn't be her doing the shooting, though she had no doubt she was about to draw fire.

Maria took aim at one of the suited figures upstairs, focused on the center of body mass and fired as she breathed out. Nine shots. Each had to count. The gun was unfamiliar to her, so she wanted to aim carefully. God, she'd have so much paperwork for this.

Scarlet scattered with some of the other crowd, trying to find a safe place behind a table she kicked over, placing her computer bag between her and the table as an additional buffer since it was bulletproof. She also took a shotgun out of one of the slots, a small sawed off one that could be held in one hand, one that looked somewhat experimental. She readied it and awaited what would happen further. Miller similarly dove behind cover to watch the proceedings while Roger slinked into the shadows to hide and watch the soon to erupt chaos.

Scarlet kept recording the entire time, just in case. She could at least thank the suited men for one thing; the young boy she was dancing with only managed to creep her out before the suited men came.

Maria's shot didn't kill any of the men, but it did put them on notice. Killing Danny Cicero wasn't going to be as easy as they hoped. They took cover away from the broken glass to avoid any other shotgun blasts, several of the would-be killers making their way back down the staircase.

They were met by Adrian at the bottom of the steps, the bartender slamming a chair into the body of one of the men and watching as he fell back into his colleagues. Adrian didn't take long to flee towards Maria, he had bought them enough time to go.

"You should go!" He yelled as he approached, the music changing to a slower love ballad as the volume went down to bearable levels.

"Scarlet! Roger! Someone! Help me get this guy out of here!" Charlie shouted. She was having a relatively easy time getting Danny to the back entrance despite there being men trying to kill him, but her car was parked up the street and Cicero wasn't going to be much help if they ran into more assassins.

That's what they really needed. A car. Preferably something fast enough to keep them from being murdered.

Maria wasn't overly impressed given how the bar fight was going. Still, she grunted in acknowledgement of Adrian's advice and ducked behind the bar to check the gun and the bullets. Good, only down one, that left eight. "I'll return the gun in a day or two." She promised and then vaulted over the bar and kept low, rifle in hand, in case she had to shoot. She made her was to Charlie and Danny's side. "My car is near. I can provide cover, but tell me you can just pick him up in a fireman's carry? If not, we're switching." Point and shoot was a bit easier to fake than brute strength, after all.

It looked like his leg was broken. Fantastic. Well, she had first aid supplies in her car, and frankly stopping bleeding was all she was qualified for. A gun fight to a love ballad. Fantastic. This was her life now. She didn't know how, but she was certain Randin was in some way to blame.

Scarlet made her way to the others, leaping a table in the way in an emulation of the heroes in video games leaping over other objects. "Forget debates over carrying people! Just carry him out of here, or we're all going to be in trouble!" Scarlet took aim with her small pistol sized shotgun from behind a table, firing off several rounds at the suited men who were descending down the stairs. The small experimental weapon gave off bizarre and eerie whines with every shot as the projectiles remained mostly intact to a longer distance than the typical shotgun.

Miller clenched his fists while Roger hightailed it out of the bar. "Scarlet, be careful! Me and Roger are going to get my car!" Miller than left too.

Scarlet finished firing her shots, and ducked behind her cover to reload. "My sister's device can be so unwieldy sometimes!"

Scarlet's gunfire dropped two of the gangsters and sent the others looking for cover. "Give us the vampire and move on!" One of them yelled, his voice creating some dissonance with the love song playing over the nightclub's speakers.

"Fuck you!" Cicero shouted as Charlie began to lift him up from the ground. With less bullets whizzing by carrying the man would be easier, "Danny, stop antagonizing them." Charlie said to the man, "All we need to do is keep them off of us, don't take any risks." The detective said to Maria and Scarlet.

"I really don't want any of you to get hurt helping this guy. He's a gangster." She continued, "No offense." Charlie told Cicero, "None taken, but if you want to continue this girl power chat I would greatly appreciate it if we did this somewhere I'm getting treated for a broken fucking leg!" Danny screamed.

One of the Asian gangsters began to rush towards where he heard Danny's voice, gun raised and ready to unload every bullet he had into Danny. As long as he was dead they had done their part. Danny Cicero couldn't live to see another day.

"Yeah, I understand." Maria didn't have the luxury of enough ammo to fire wildly, but she could take aim and fire at the asian man rushing them. She had no problem looting guns from the people shooting at her, and no problem killing someone who was trying to kill her. She may be a cop, but she was a Wing City cop, and survival was rather paramount in that department. "Just don't tell me any details, agreed?" She took aim and fired a second time. Both shots had been gut shots. They tended to be enough to stop a person cold in sheer pain and agony.

"Get your buddy out fo her." She began to back up, making certain that the guy she was protecting was fine. She had no clue why the vampire didn't just grab one of the opposing guys and chow down. She had seen that often enough to know it was a common tactic in Wing City at least. Then again, he had managed to break his leg.

"I help whoever I damn well please!" She followed up on Maria's shots as she continued to try and help, keeping her bulletproof computer bag between her and the cover as she took shots at the thugs.

"But yes, if there's a plan we have, we should carry it out soon!"

Cicero did have a point. They had to go. Scarlet and Maria seemed more than capable of holding off a few thugs. The gangsters clearly didn't come prepared for an actual firefight. If no one else was around Cicero would have surely been killed.

Charlie burst out of the back door into an alley with the vampire club owner, catching sight of more gangsters waiting at the end of the alley.

"Well, we might be screwed." She told him, "Or not. I have a plan." Charlie continued, "What's the plan?" Cicero asked, regretting the question as soon as Charlotte dumped him into a trash can. "Sorry. You're going to have be quiet."

Charlie slammed the lid, catching the attention of the gangsters. There were at least four from what she could tell, two jogging towards her.

"Who are you?" One of the Triads asked, "Someone in the wrong place at the wrong time. I'm a private detective. I came here looking for someone and then all hell broke loose." Charlotte lied, "I just wanna go home."

That part was too true.

"Go. Get out of here." One of the gangsters said, "Now." He demanded, "Don't have to tell me twice." Charlotte said, speed walking out of the alley.

Did....did she just dump a man with a broken leg in a trash can. She did. Oh. Oh wow. That was special, and Maria bit back the incredibly inappropriate urge to burst into laughter at the situation. Eh, whatever worked, and she was rather dressed for a date. She fixed her skirt, which had one hundred percent ridden up in the firefight to her waist. She gave the gangsters and uncertain look and then shrugged. "This has been the worst first date ever, and I really just want to go home. So can I pass too?"

That had been her excuse for being there, after all. She had been waiting on a 'date.' Maria had gotten too good at lying after joining the force.

Either way, there would definitely not be a second. Firefights. Halo was in Van Leugen because it was supposed to be saner than Wing City. She supposed there was nothing that sane Terra in general.

"Go. Hurry." The Triad gangster said to Maria, "And keep quiet about this." He called out. Ahead of Maria was Charlie, the private detective waving to the other woman.

Unbeknownst to her, an SUV pulled up behind her and a man dressed in a green hoodie climbed out. He approached Charlie quickly, getting up close and grabbing her arm.

Her first instinct was to attack the man, at least until he spoke. "It's Vadim." He said, "Get in." The man ordered, letting go of Charlie to get back inside the SUV. "I have a friend." Charlie told the stranger, "I don't care." The green-clad man told her, "Your friend will be fine."

Maria nodded. Not that she was going to say a thing. She'd get in more trouble than it was worth. She hurried to catch up with Charlie and frowned as the stranger accosted her. What had the others been calling her? She couldn't recall. Still, her sense of duty wouldn't let the other get in, not alone, not when she had tensed like that. She got within three feet before she spoke up.

"You okay, hun?" She no longer had the shotgun from the bar, having needed to ditch it to escape the alley and the lookouts there, but she had a peashooter revolver in her bra, and she could and would pull that on this new guy, if needed. Either way, she was still armed, and trained, and could, assuming he was human, probably handle it.

Then again the other was a PI, apparently, so presumably had done some training for her own safety.

"Who is this?" The man asked, "My friend. I have another inside." Charlie told him. He looked towards the Triads, checking to see if they were paying attention before looking back at Charlie and Maria.

"Get in." He told them, "We can't wait for your other friend. It's too dangerous." He said, quickly rushing towards the driver's seat. "If your friend is smart they'll get out like you did." The green-clad man told the two women.

Charlie climbed into the front seat, eyeing the man driving. He was young from what she could tell, and didn't seem to be the type that Vadim usually hung around. He was more street and less refined than Vadim's friends tended to be.

Maria got into the back, rather incredibly suspicious now. Was this going to be one of those adventures in which she wondered why she was still a cop and even if she could call herself one? It was beginning to feel like it. Either way, she wasn't in Wing City so its not like she had jurisdiction. Given she still didn't know the others name, she remained quiet, watching, suspicious.

This was a bit much, but it would be fine. She could handle herself well enough. "It'll be fine." She assured the other, and glanced back. It would have to be, and to be honest, it seemed like everyone but the mn in the trash can could take care of themselves well enough. And he was, presumably, safe enough in the can for now, though she wished they could get him to the hospital so the leg could be set.

One of the unfortunate side effects of being a traveling star of a professional video game team: Being in the worst possible places at the worst possible times. This was something Scarlet truly believed considering how badly everything was turning out at this point. One moment, she was leading a team of players to victory, and the next, she was escaping the building she was inside, her shotgun and computer bag at her side as she put well-aimed shots into the faces of anything that tried to leap at her.

"Damn it! This is not the way today was supposed to go! Where did these stupid shadow monsters come from anyway?"

As Scarlet made a leap of faith across a collapsing portion of the building she was in, she tumbled on the other side, picking herself up with haste as she aimed her unique shotgun behind her, firing off several rounds at the shadowy figures behind her in hot pursuit. The weapon gave off bizarre and eerie whines with every shot, though it was no less lethal than any other.

"First the earthquake screwing up the convention, then shadow demons looking like they came straight out of Spade 3. I swear they'd be cosplayers if they weren't trying to kill me!"

She continued her descent in true action video game fashion, employing impressive parkour to reach the floor level safely. Opening a slot on her shotgun, she let the heat escape from it as she slid along the ground underneath a falling piece of rubble that would likely take out a few of the shadowy beings after her. Quickly standing back up, she took a moment to catch her breath before running once more, closing the slot on her weapon, allowing it to fire once more.

"I just need to find safety or something!"

"Are you sure roaming around with only a shotgun will save you, child?" the Shadowling called out from her perch in the sky. The Legion swarmed Scarlet's position. By now the shaking had stopped, the situation at the mountain mostly under control due to outside circumstances. "This city is all but destroyed, and you have the gall to prance around with a measly gun. Humans truly are as stupid as they come....but we can make you better."

Around the clearing in the rubble, Trapper Shadows formed barrier of cloak and eyes, keeping Scarlet in that clearing. Any attempt to break through would be met with a nigh impregnable defense, save from a nuke or strong magic attack. But Scarlet was just human.

The Legion's Bashers slammed their shields down in a sort of testudo formation, the shields overlapping and forming another nigh-impregnable force as they advanced on the girl, forming a box, trapping her further. The large, Roman-like shields gleaming in Darkness as the area around them began to darken, the Trappers forming a ceiling above them, cutting off natural light slowly.

"Join the Legion, and we can give you unimaginable power." The Shadowling, Nymeth, one of two females in the four-some of Shadowlings, said with a confident smile on her face as she stood atop one of the Testudo walls, arms crossed over her chest.

"You have five seconds to answer; if your answer is no, then you will be...." she giggled maniacally, "Drafted....into the Legion."

The jet banked around the city, heading towards the port. If any denizens of the city looked closely, they would see several small drones buzzing around the aircraft like bees.
