Boaz could feel the aura from Kabaiel from a distance as Rei said the Fallen was after her. "He won't even come close. He'll be sealed away in the eternal fires once I'm through with him." He went to the armory and grabbed all but the glasses. "I'll let Chiba know when the battle is over, then she'll tell you, Rei."

"But, Boaz..."

"Don't argue with me, Chiba. Nobody else should get involved. I will be doing this alone."

He ran on over to the exit and flew. Scanning the city from the air, the male Nephilim spotted the place where Kabaiel was staying, now that he betrayed the Organization. There is no escape this time, Uncle Kabaiel. I'm coming.

Chiba looked at Rei. "What I was about to say to him is that I can't communicate with him. Our link is gone. It started to vanish the moment he began falling."

"Your link was transfered." The voice which said that seemed to come from nowhere, the person whose voice it belonged to was not in the room. "You see, my daughter, I saw something like this coming, but I did not expect how. I thought it was you your uncle would use against Boaz, which was part of the reason I gave you up for adoption. Now, I will be honest, when I defeated Kabaiel, I could have killed him right then. What kept me from doing that was the possibility that by stripping away his powers and sending him into a deep sleep, I could allow him to reflect on his past actions and come back to the light. Now that I am certain he will not, he shall have to be weakened again to enable the family to take away his powers, this time with no chance of him regaining them.

Boaz was tasked with this duty of weakening your uncle long before he awoke. This is a dire time for the boy. He is close to falling, and he needs Rei's support. Not physical, mind you. In the state he is in, he will need some emotional back up. That is where Rei's purpose comes into play. Only she can keep him sane, now, which is why, Chiba, I transfered your link with Boaz to her. She can now communicate with him from a safe distance through thoughts. She must use that to her advantage help make sure Boaz does not fall, or if he does, he comes back to the light."

Rei felt strange. She pulled away from Chiba and wiped her tears. She heard what the angel said and was conflicted. She thought she could both help and hurt Boaz. She smoothed her from her face and took a deep breath. She closed her eyes and focused as she would if she were calling metal to her but instead she called Boaz. Boaz? Can you hear me? She thought as hard as she could.




Kabaiel sat perched on a grave stone, like a bird. His long coat hanging over the egde and his wings curled against his back as he twirled the feather in his fingers. He knew that he'd thoroughly freaked the girl out. Boaz should be here any minute now. Kabaiel wanted him here. In this graveyard full of spirits for him to control. He snickered when he felt Boaz's presence come closer.

Boaz was still in the air when he heard Rei's voice. Rei? Where's Chiba? What's wrong with her link? Then he realized what was going on, somewhat. The link was transfered, wasn't it? I don't know what Dad hopes to accomplish by that, but what I do know is Uncle Kabaiel is at a graveyard. I should have seen that coming, because he can control people's spirits. I suspect this is a well-planned trap, but I'm going to spring it. This could be my only chance to fight him before something worse happens.

He landed right in front of Kabaiel, pulled out his knife, incased it in flames, and began to slash at him. "You won't get away, this time, Uncle!"

Rei gasped as she heard Boaz's voice in her head. She shook off the shock quickly, He says that my purpose. He says, it's to help you stop Kabaiel. But you have to relax. He set a trap yes, so he's going to be over confient. You can use that against him so long as you don't fight from anger. She told him. She knew she was one to talk having a short temper herself. I'll be right here, Okay? She stood up and took off toward her lab. Within seconds, she had a computer screen on.
"Caller, Can you link me to the feed from Boaz's glasses and the graveyard's security camera?" She said, her voice strong and confident.
Yes, Uplinking now...
As the camera feeds appeared on screen, Rei waved a hand at the unfinished pair of wings she'd created for Boaz, eariler. She hadn't realized how much she had done, all she had to do was put it together. The metal wings floated in the air, quickly attaching themselves to the base.
"Thanks, Leslie?"
Leslie poked her head in the door. "Yo?"
"Can you do me a favor?"
"Sure, What's up?"
"Can you teleport?"
Leslie thought for a second. "Yea, so to speak, Why?"
"So to speak?" Rei asked looking back to the computer screen ever so often.
"Well, I can manipulate people's perception so it looks like I'm teleporting. I'm just hiding in you're blind spot. Hence the name."
"Alright. Well do you think you can hide from him?" She pointed to the screen at the small winged figure fighting Boaz.
"Well, Typically, I'd say no cause he's an Angel. A Watcher to be exact but since he's preoccupied with Boaz there. I think so I can travel through the shadows to so since it's late. I think I can get in and out without being spotted by either of them."
"Can you give these to Boaz, I'll let him know you're coming." She said standing and catching the set of wings. Leslie's eyebrows shoot to her forehead. "Um, Yea, I think so but I'll be slower." She said and Rei nodded. Another plan forming in her head. She'd so far ahead, she'd passed English Letters and started on Greek letters. It was what she was created for. She could think on her feet. "
Caller, just in case, Can you provide back up for Leslie?"
Yes.
"Good, Leslie. In and Out. Kabaiel sees everything and he's fast. Please be careful." Rei said handing her the wings. They were lighter then Leslie expected. "Don't worry, Twerpette. I'll be back before you know it." She said and with a dancer's spin, shadows pulled around her and she was gone.
Boaz, Go on the defensive. He's over-confident because you 'fell' for his trap. Predict his moves but make him think he has the upperhand. I have Leslie dropping off your metal wings. Just in case and Remember, stay calm She warned him. she kept her voice calm and even, even though her heart was beating through her chest.
"Chiba, Can you use your miracle aura on both Boaz and Leslie?"



Kabaiel dodged Boaz's erratic knife swings. He caught his hand. "Who says I was going anywhere?" He said and threw a hard punch at his stomach. If he were human, the force of the blow would have blown his back out.


Leslie rose up from the shadows, focused on Kabaiel's blind spot. He really could see everything, He had no blind spot. She decided she'd stick to the shadows. She pulled the shadows from the graveyard and the many trees and cloaked herself in darkness. She slid like a snake to the tree nearest to two and set the wings against the tree. She looked up at the two angels fighting. Especially, Kabaiel. A lump formed in her throat. But she didn't know why. She found herself staring but stopped when she felt her shadows slipping. She pulled them over here and disappeared back to Headquarters.

Chiba nodded and focused her miracle aura on both Boaz and Lesilie. "It should help, though I'm not sure if it will be enough. I can use Biomancy from here, though, in case he suffers a serious injury."

Boaz took the blow to the stomach and flew through five grave stones. When he heard Rei when she said to be on the defensive and remain calm, the male Nephilim got up, pretending to be badly beaten as he got in his stance. His free hand formed into a fist incased in fire. Calmly, Boaz waited for Kabaiel to make the next move. I hope this works.

Rei focused hard on the screen. It will, Trust me.
It was then Leslie appeared back at the base. "Yo." She said with less enthusiasm then she did before. "Hey, Thanks alot." Rei said with a smile. "No probelm, kiddo." Leslie said and headed to an empty room. Sitting on a bes, She couldn't shake the strong sense of loss she felt just then looking at Kabaiel.



Kabaiel walked up to him, with a wicked grin. "You didn't bring your girlfriend this time? I suppose it's understandable. I did torture her." He said with a shrug. "She's a resilient, She didn't once scream while I tortured her mind. It must have felt like days in there. Of course it was only maybe a few minutes in reality. It's amazing how illrelevent time is." He said, knowing Rei could hear him.

Rei closed her eyes.She had to remain calm. She didn't want to think about what he did to her in her dream. Not now, Not while Boaz was out there. He's playing defense too, Dammit.[i] She shook it off. On to plan Beta. " He's taunting you, trying to rile you up. So you'll attack him She said and then thought of something. You can try the same. Piss him off thoroughly,Maybe you could use his rage as a weakness. Rei began gnawing on her thumbnail, a nervous habit. Her anxiety was reaching boiling point now and she was on the verge of a panic attack. "Chiba. Can you do me a favor and grabbed me a bottle of water and my Redalin, it's in the medicine cabinet." She said, trying to keep still.

Kabaiel cocked his head at Boaz and his flame."I hope that's not all you have. I did, seriously screw with her head. I bet she won't sleep for weeks." He said with a laugh. "Just let it out, Boaz. The only way you win is if you Fall." He said, the joking anf laughter was gone from his voice as his wings exalted with a shrug of his shoulder.

Boaz knew better than to listen to his taunts. Besides, he knew just how to rile up Kabaiel. A smirk entered his face. "Oh, then how come my dad was able to beat you without falling? What a shame, having had thrown every spirit you could at him and he still managed to humiliate you in battle. Were you mad as he knew your every method and strategy, or insulted when he shrugged off your every blow? Honestly, if he remained in the light and still whipped your butt, I bet it would be no different here, you wuss. Well, maybe it would kind of be different, but still."

Kabaiel frowned and grabbed Boaz by the throat. "Yes..." He began to squeeze, as the spirit around them began to swarm. His eyes began to shift from green to white as angry built inside him. "You will Fall, Boaz." He said, his voice deep. "And once you do, I will make sure she sees the monster you will become." He said and threw him away.

Rei took a deep breath. She wanted to help him so bad. "Ugh, I just can't sit here..." She said, tapping her foot so rapidly that she began to smoke.
Rei, Breath. You're doing exactly what you need to do. You're an expert strategist. Your doing great. Just pay attention and you'll do fine. The Caller assured her but it didn't help as much as she would like. She watched the screens. She focused on Boaz and frowned and for the first time in her life, She prayed. "Please, Just bring him back alive." She whispered,

Boaz was about to attempt a stab to Kabaiel's chest when he was thrown. That idiot left himself vulnerable! The entire battle could have ended there! Then again, it's hard to do that when you're choked... He calmed himself enough to avoid any further darkening of his wings as he got up, spirits surrounding him. Okay, here comes the hard part. The spirits attacked in groups, yet the male Nephilim managed to give heavy resistance. The thing is, however, you cannot exactly kill a soul, something only God has the ability to do. That would not normally bother Boaz, but that fact meant that not only would those spirits have to go through excruciating pain, they can also recover from it after a while. There is a loophole, though: the power from an angel's weapon can seal a spirit back into the owner's body if enough force is applied, a fact Boaz overlooked until he gave it some thought as he fought.

Meanwhile, Chiba had an idea. "Rei, the link not only allows communication by thought, it also allows free access to each other's memories and the ability to temporarily transfer one's feats to the other person. If you transfer your ability to manipulate metal to Boaz, he can use that to attatch the metallic wings to his back before the ability returns to you, allowing him to bless them into angelic weapons he can use against the spirits attacking him. And don't worry about not being aware of what is going on if the cameras stop showing the scenario. The link will allow you to know what is happening to him every second of every moment."

Rei looked up with wide eyes. A smile slide across her face. “ That’s brilliant, Chiba! Thank you.” she said and Boaz, Chiba told me you could access my abilities. Take my metallokensis. You could control the metal wings. But be careful, though, You’ll be able to feel the metal all around you. It’s a rush at first so don’t let that distract you. You can access my memories so you should recover quickly. I have a vast knowledge of martial arts too so that could probably help, too
Rei was smiling now. She finally felt like she could do something even if it wasn’t physically.

Kabaiel cracked his neck as the spirits flew around him. Wailing and Tearing at Boaz begging for an end to the pain. Kabaiel could careless. He walked up to Boaz and narrowed his eyes. In a great wind, the spirits flew around Boaz, scratching at his skin, grabbing at his limbs and wailing a piercing shrieks.

Once the metallokinesis was transfered to Boaz, he focused on the wings, attatching them to his back in time to bless them and use them against the spirits, using the martial arts techniques fom Rei's memories to fend them off. He even recovered swiftly while he did all that. All spirits were finally sent back to their bodies by the time the metallokinesis ability returned to Rei. Even with that triumph, there was still Kabaiel to deal with. This is where the real battle begins, and Boaz already felt sore.

"Don't bother trying to resummon them. They are sealed away until after the Thousand Year Sleep which follows Armageddon, now. I bet you weren't expecting that, if you forgot what an angelic weapon is capable of." He braced himself. If Kabaiel were to attack, Boaz would be ready to counter his moves, this time. Should the Fallen grab him by the neck, again, all it would take would be a stab to the chest while the fire incased the blade to win the whole battle. Either that, or the metallic wings would slice off Kabaiel's hand and leave the perfect opportunity to blast him with fire. All that was left to do was to wait for the next move.

Chiba could not help but wonder what could happen next. Her twin was out there, and she knew she had to stay with Rei so she could keep her from harm. The suspense gave way to fear for Boaz's sake.

Rei felt her ability faded but return. It felt strange but she shook it off as she watched Boaz.


Kabaiel shook his head. "Metal Wings? Honestly?" He said and grabbed Boaz by the collar. It was then a metallic feather slice at his wrist. A clean cut removed his hand from his wrist. Kabaiel jumped back holding his wrist. Irrevocably pissed off.

Rei felt proud, despite the gruesomeness of what just happened. She looked over at Chiba and grabbed her hand. "He's winning." She smiled brightly.

Kabaiel then decided to take the kid gloves off. With a flick of his shoulder, the color drained from his body until there was nothing but a clear white.,"I tried to be nice." His voice was booming now. "I tried to have you join me, but no. So be it." He said and attacked Boaz, missing hand and all.

((The grand finale is close, I can tell!))

Kabaiel took the bait. Boaz took on his true form, his skin turning silver, hair becoming white as snow, and the eyes giving off a silver light; it only took a split second for the transformation to complete. He then reacted to the attack by blasting a full-force beam of fire from his knife with a combination of his own pyro energy and supernatural energy collected over the years. Not only did this inflict serious burns, but also slowed him down enough to counter by stepping to the side and kicking him hard in the chest to knock him down, if the melee attack hit Kabaiel.

Kabaiel was blasted backward into a tree. It broke and splintered against the force. Kabaiel was unable to block Boaz's other attacks. He rose to his feet and snarled. He was stronger then before, even in his true form, He was only half Angel. He then understood why. The girl... He should have snapped her neck when he had the chance. A mistake he would live to regret. He proceeded attack Boaz's with erratic barrage of attacks. Razor feathers shooting from his wings in a desperate attempt to take Boaz down.

He's erratic. Now's your chance! Rei called to him, gripping Chiba's hand.

Boaz used hydromancy to create floating ice shields, which he controlled to block the feathers as they came prior to sending both of them flying towards his uncle. The ice melted into water, splashing all over Kabaiel's torso before it froze again. This immobilized the Fallen long enough to deliver the winning blow with a leap kick of fire. It had force enough to force Kabaiel onto his back, paralzyed, while an orb of light appeared to the side. It was Abdiel, Boaz's father.

"You never expected this, did you?" The heavenly figure leaned closer while still standing on both his feet. "Well, I've got knews for you: God expected this moment, thus I did, as well. I'm rather disappointed. I gave you a chance to come back to the light when I stripped your powers away, to begin with. Since you rejected that opportunity, you leave the family no choice but to get rid of your powers for good."

Chiba breathed a sigh of relief. "Well, it looks like it's time." She was immediately teleported by Abdiel so she stood right next to him. Boaz walked beside her the moment she appeared. All the while, the female Nephilim took on her true form, eyes glowing golden yellow, her hair turning a metallic shade of gray, her skin changing into a light shade of blue. Together, hands above their shoulders, they began the ritual, the supernatual energy from Kabaiel flowing like a stream to be absorbed by them. Abdiel smiled a little. "At least we won't kill you, and you'll still have your wings for flight. You just will be unable to fight like you just did against Boaz. Your physical attacks will be much like that of a mortal's, and no supernatural energy within you whatsoever." Once the ritual was over, the full-blooded Angel said in Kabaiel's ear, "Now we get you ready for the trial in Heaven at the time dawn arrives in this city. So, be a good boy and shhh..."

As Abdiel blew the Angel Kiss, Chiba noticed Boaz's real wings returning to normal. "Your wings! Thank God, you're back!"

Kabaiel lay on his back, struggling the under the ice. Once his powers were gone he stopped moving. He was useless now. He growled at his brother but said nothing. His eyes widened as his brother blew his Angel Kiss and fell into a deep sleep.


Rei gasped when Chiba disappeared. She stood up and summoned the lightning to her and teleported to Boaz and Chiba.
She ran to him and wrapped her arms around him. "You did it!" She said and pulled away some. She noticed his wings. "The color is back. You're not Falling anymore. I'm glad." She said with a smile.

Boaz breathed a sigh of relief at the thought of Kabaiel no longer being a problem when Rei teleported. He barely turned to face her in time for the hug given to him. The male Nephilim was silent until it was mentioned he was returning back to normal. He smiled at the thought. "Yes, that's a relief."

Abdiel started to carry Kabaiel on his back. "While I take your uncle to the heavenly courtrooms, it may be best if you two take Rei back to your place at THORN. The family dispute is settled, but there are always more demons nearby."

Chiba nodded and said to Boaz and Rei, "Well, I can't argue with that."

Rei noticed Boaz wasn't quite himself. She watched his expression with quite concern. She smiled at Abdiel and nodded when he said they should go home. She took Boaz's hand and pulled him to the side. "Hey, you okay?" She asked with a slight frown.

"Hmm? Oh, well..." Boaz tried to think after so much fatigue entering him. "I'm just shaken by all that happened tonight, is all. There is that, and all this fighting, plus being in my true form, pretty much left me rather tired." As he spoke, he turned back into his human form.

Rei's brow furrowed some but she nodded. She hadn't even noticed he was in a different form. He'd returned to normal before it registered. Which was rare for her not to noticed something like that. She examined his face. "Tonight was...something." She said with a nod. "Let's go home and get some rest, huh?" She said.
He was tired, that made perfect sense but something seemed off. She couldn't quite place it. She then thought strangly -selfishly-maybe he didn't like her anymore. She had no idea why she thought that but still. Then there was that kiss they never got around to talking about. She sighed. She thought he'd be more excited that it was all over. Maybe that was it. Maybe he didn't know what to do now that it was all over.

Chiba noticed Boaz's behavior, as well. "So, what do we do once we reach THORN?"

Boaz hoped that question would not come up. "I honestly have no clue, we've honed our abilities, all our lives, for the purpose of defending ourselves against Uncle Kabaiel and God knows what other immortals would be after us. Now that we settled the family dispute, there is no telling who else would want us for our skills. If you thought the Organization was a pest when they captured us, an entire legion of demons is even worse. With us close by each other, Chiba, our aura will start attracting attention from that kind of demonic group, or worse. All this begs the question: should I stay at THORN and risk everything, or leave to keep you and Rei from receiving the worst end of this problem. They'll be after me more because I can better manage a fight. They won't consider you a major threat, which gives you the advantage. I don't have that luxury." A tear came down his right eye. "I'm torn, I really am."

Rei frowned and spun on a heel. "No." She said walking up to him. She looked up at him with her hands on her hips. "You can't just do that." She said "We're a team now. Whether you like it or not." She said and poked him in the chest. "You're stuck with me, Buddy." She said with a nod. " So what if they demons know about you. You defeated a Fallen. Let 'em come, You won't be alone." She said gesturing to her and Chiba, she sighed and dropped her shoulders. I don't want you to go... She added through the link. She didn't know if he's still hear her but it was easily readable on her face.

Boaz was stunned at Rei's reaction. It made him worry more about what would happen. All he could think of to do was hold her close and say through the link, Alright, we'll see how this goes. I'll stay.

Rei smiled and relaxed in his arms. She looked up at him with soft eyes. I'm glad... She gave him a closed-mouth smile and rested her head on his chest.
