The story:

Humankind was shocked when vampires decided to come out of hiding. They were further shocked when vampires came in force and all but eradicated humanity, leaving but a few behind which they treated as cattle.

A further surprise came when it was revealed that vampires were not the only supernatural species around. The vampires had reduced population of these other species drastically as well, before and after their war on mankind. However, there were some that they spared due to the fact the vampires had discovered a ritual which would allow them the power to control and harness the powers of these other races.

The ritual involved the vampire spilling his/her own blood and having the other species consume it, whilst chanting the words of the ancient ritual. This would form a soul bond, giving the vampire access to the powerful abilities of the other species. It also allowed them to have complete control of the other creature during the full moon, meaning that even if their soul slave managed to escape, all the vampire needed to do was wait until the full moon and mentally force the other to come back.

There was one catch; if one of them died, they both would. That was the price of a soul-bonding.

In a tiny village, five vampires who had their very own soul slaves lived. In this village, these vampires also kept several human labor slaves, to maintain the village and produce food for the beings that needed it. Each of these vampires also kept personal blood slaves, humans who they used for feeding and sex.

Little to the vampire’s knowledge (or concern) just outside of the village lived a minuscule population of humans who planned on eliminating the vampires and taking back the village. However, the plan seemed futile as these humans did not have any weapons and the vampire population of the village still outnumbered them.

That was about to change. One soul slave, a young werewolf was exploring the attic of her Master’s house one day when she stumbled upon something she obviously wasn't supposed to find. She located a book with details of the soul bond within… and a way to reverse it. Apparently, if a soul slave spilled their own blood on the same night of the year from whence the soul bond was formed while repeating the lines of the reverse spell, they would be freed of the bond. Hurriedly, she wrote the lines down and raced off to inform the other soul slaves.

Now, she should really have waited until daylight to tell the others, but her excitement really got the best of her. It just so happened that her Master had followed her and heard all about the plan… and he was not pleased.

He too, shared this information with the other vampires. The problem was this; not only would the vampires lose the supernatural powers they had gained but there was a chance that the breaking of the bond would kill the vampires. They decided that when the time for the plan came, they would have to monitor their soul slaves closely… but what if they performed the ritual during the day? Then the vampires would have to restrain their soul slaves for the duration of the day… But the werewolf female had mentioned having ‘outside help’, so that wouldn't last long. They decided the best way to go about it was by making their soul slaves fall in love with them, want to be with them and not wish to risk killing the vampire Masters.

But of course, if the vampire fell in love as well, that too would break the bond (though not at any risk of death) so they would have to be very careful. Not to mention, only a week and a half remained. Was that even possible? Love didn't happen that fast.

Eavesdropping was obviously a common trait in this little village, as the vampire who had called the meeting’s blood slave happened to have heard all about this. She was in contact with the humans who planned to take back the village… and she believed this was exactly the type of opportunity the leader had been waiting for. With the vampires so distracted by this madness, the humans could easily sneak in and steal weapons… as well as come back and slay these monsters on the day of the ‘plan’.

Races:
Human: I don’t think I need to explain this one. XD

Vampire: Not born. They can turn humans into vampires by blood-swapping, but other species cannot become vampire.

Werewolf: Unless soul bound, werewolves always shift under the full moon. It takes them some time to learn how to control themselves whilst in wolf form. Experienced wolves can shift whenever they want, and control themselves in wolf form but they still always turn under the full moon.

Werecat: Same rules apply as werewolf. Can be jaguar/panther, ocelot or lynx.

Elf: Elves have healing abilities, and the ability to manipulate nature to their will. They also live rather long lives. Fifteen elf years is equal to one human year.

Demon: Demons can conjure and control fire. They can also manipulate the thought of weak-minded beings (or drunken beings XD). (Vampires are exempt from this, as they are dead). Like vampires, demons are immune to illness and aging.

Other races may be accepted, as long as they are sentient and humanoid at least most of the time. :)

Also, I don't want it too modern. No iPhone's or anything, I don't even want guns. >.< Okay? :D
