[OOC] RotG Lore: The Power of Elements

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby CiksKayVolts on Wed Dec 21, 2011 1:53 am

Welcome to the "Roots of the Genesis" Lore on Elements and Magic

This is an informational topic explaining about the types of elements in Kiden and how magic is demonstrated. Knowing the elements is a very important thing, but it shouldn't be too complicated. This lore thread will be in two parts splitting the topic of elements and magic. We might update more information on the elements and magic as we continue to extend the world.

Past and Current RotG Roleplays

The world revolves around six primary elements, and many secondary and tertiary elements. They hold many ties to the world's creation, the beings of the planet, and the mystical properties of the magical arts. In Kiden, there is a tree located at the north pole of the planet. Faeries refer to this tree as "The Great Tree" or "The Tree of Kiden." The height of this tree goes beyond the clouds in the sky, perhaps all the way out of the atmosphere. Around the world, there are roots of the giant tree, coming from the ground. This tree is the origin of all life in Kiden. Not only did the tree bring faeries to this world, but it also filled the world with magical energy (or mana) known as Kyden. All faery races have a link to Kyden, and the sources that emanate Kyden are located near the giant tree and its roots. Although "most" races do not need Kyden to live normally, it is the medium for which the arts of magic are practiced with. Upon the discovering of using Kyden for magic, faeries have studied and developed ways to use it for either practical or combat purposes. Currently, scholars believe there may be more than six primary elements, for those six do not cover all aspects in Kiden nature. For now, I shall introduce what you must know... Elements and Magic.

Elements

Sol - The element of light. Faeries consider Sol the most holy element of all in Kiden, as it is the opposite of the dark element. It is usually in the form of lightning and rays of light.

Vul - The element of fire. Some consider it the second sacred element in Kiden, because of its similarities to the light element and having many uses for and outside of combat. Vul can be quite dangerous to handle, but it is also valuable once mastered in magic. It conflicts with the element of ice.

Avi - The element of force. Most faeries consider this the wind element, because it is a force of movement. Avi can conflict with all other elements (especially the stone element), except the elements of light and dark.

Tem - The element of stone. Tem revolves around the earth and stones of the planet itself. It might conflict with the element of force mostly, as Tem is considered the force of tenacity, or "of once-was."

Fyj - The element of ice. Fyj comes in water and ice and can switch between liquid or solid states. Its cold temperatures conflict the hot flames of the fire element.

Nox - The element of darkness. In Kiden, there are two types of darkness: space darkness and true darkness. Space darkness is absolutely harmless to any element and being. By definition, it is an area with no light. True darkness, on the other hand, is very dangerous and comes in the form of black mist. Handling Nox is very difficult, and only one race of faeries can manage it. The enemy of Nox is the element of light.

From here, I will list the forms of the secondary elements. It should give you a good idea of what they should be like.

Secondary Elements "Color-coding is fun!"
Soltem - Plant
Solavi - Storm
Solfyj - Holy Water
Solvul - Sun
Solnox - Twilight
Vulfyj - Steam
Vulavi - Explosion
Vultem - Lava
Vulnox - Dark Flame
Avinox - Void
Fyjavi - Blizzard
Fyjnox - Haze
Temavi - Dust Storm
Temfyj - Clay
Temnox - Toxic

In Kiden, there are a total of six seasons. It's an obvious guess that those seasons are based off the elements above. Here are the names of the seasons~

Six Seasons of Kiden
Ignidus (Sol) - The season of sun. With the dark clouds vanquished by the rejuvenating sun, this season is often cherished by many faeries. The sun comes back with its strength and shines light to Kiden. It closely resembles Spring of Earth.
Vaestus (Vul) - The season of warmth. The sun's flames continue to stay strong, slowly increasing temperatures around Kiden. It's the warmest season of all, much like Summer of Earth.
Shimaya (Avi) - The season of wind. The breath of fire of the past season comes the winds of Shimaya. This season helps spread pollen and the likes, preparing for the coming of the harvest.
Magnarta (Tem) - The season of harvest. As the sun weakens from constant heating, Kiden becomes a little colder. Most crops sprout during this time, much like the season of Autumn of Earth.
Plunivos (Fyj) - The season of cold. The sun's flames wither down a little as Kiden becomes much colder during this season. Snow starts falling in different areas of the planet, and the days are becoming dimmer.
Rumiaury (Nox) - The season of dark. During this time, the sun is at its weakest form and the darkness takes advantage by spreading dark clouds around where space darkness is plentiful. This season is the most dangerous of the six, as true darkness can spread without worry of the day's sunlight. The day isn't as dark as the night, but it is still dim.
