12:19 pm: June 12, 2011: Day One of Containment Process

"So, how's your summer been so far?" Benny Jarvis reached out across the diner table and picked up the tall glass of Dr. Pepper. Across from the twenty six year old sat Kathy Jarvis, his younger sister. They had met at the diner to hang out like they usually did on Sundays after Kathy came back from church with her parents. Benny used to have to go, but now that he was out of the house, he found every reason not to be able to go since his parents couldn't really make him anymore.

"Eh, you know. That one party of the summer in this small town. I've been at the pool a lot with my friends." Kathy looked up to her brother after taking a bite of the burger on her plate. "What about you. Any new girlfriends?" She smirked at her fairly lame comment.

"No, actually. I'm still trying to find that one special girl."

"Whatever Benny," said Kathy rolling her eyes. "When was the last time you were with a girl for more than two weeks?"

Benny shook his head and laughed. "So, do you need a ride home?" he asked, noticing that they were both pretty much finished with their food.

"Well, Kelsey gets off soon, so I think I'll wait for her."

Benny nodded and finished paying. "See ya sis," he said and stood up to walk out of the small diner. Benny walked down the sidewalk to his old, red truck a few yards down the street. He moved around to the drivers side and opened the door when he noticed someone across the street in the corner of his eye. Benny turned around and looked across the street.

It was Jerry, an older resident of Orem Valley who owned one of the larger farms in Orem. He had lived here ever since Benny could remember and was always about town, meeting with other people and having fun despite his old age and frequent farm work. Benny would have usually smiled and waved to him, but Jerry didn't seem normal. Jerry usually had a big smile on his face, but today he had a dead facial expression. His eyes looked glazed over and he was stiff, with no movements. Also, not to mention Jerry was staring directly at Benny.

"Uh, hey Jerry," he said to the old man across the street. He made no anwer torwards Benny and didn't seem like he was planning on it. "What the hell," he said under his breath. That was weird. Jerry never acted like that. He almost seemed like he was in a trance or something. Benny ignored it and put his key in the ignition, took one last look at the man, still in the same position, and then took off back to his house.
