Introduction
Based off "The Crazies"
Orem Valley is a small, quiet town in Utah, pretty much in the middle of nowhere. The population is a little under 300 and everyone knows everyone. It is in the middle of June and there's been a long drought since the beginning of May. The water supply has been getting low for the farms and the water supply has been infected with a virus, unknown to anyone in the town. Now, people of Orem Valley begin to act strange. They seem unresponsive to the rest of the world, and unable to control their actions.
The virus takes a little more than a day to settle into the body once it is processed. As you can guess, this virus is very easily and quickly spread because water is used out of the tap at least five times a day, whether it's for a shower, washing your face, or for a glass of water; no matter how, if it touches your lips, you can kiss your sanity goodbye. Once it is into the body, the person turns into an unresponsive, and savage human being. Though it could take up to two days to actually take full control, there are many signs to having the virus, like irritablility, and the pupils of the eye get smaller.
When you are taken over by the virus, you're brain goes into focus on only one thing, and that's killing anyone and anything in your path. Your looks become much more...sickly looking as in veins begin to show, sometimes skin changes color and even eyes turn colors. You become a savage beast and nothing can change it.
The military is also now getting into it, now that they have discovered this new undiscovered virus. They have begun a containment process, keeping anyone and everyone inside the town, infected or not. The military is sent for one reason only, and that is to kill anyone in the town that shows any signs of the virus, or even seems a possible threat others.
We are the few survivors of this horrible virus, and will have to group together to keep the 'Crazies' out and away from them, and to make it to the neighborring town, Price which is a bit larger, and hopefully uninfected. Everyone is an enemy, including the military, and nobody can be trusted, because the disease won't always settle in early.

The Story So Far... Write a Post » as written by 5 authors

"So, how's your summer been so far?" Benny Jarvis reached out across the diner table and picked up the tall glass of Dr. Pepper. Across from the twenty six year old sat Kathy Jarvis, his younger sister. They had met at the diner to hang out like they usually did on Sundays after Kathy came back from church with her parents. Benny used to have to go, but now that he was out of the house, he found every reason not to be able to go since his parents couldn't really make him anymore.
"Eh, you know. That one party of the summer in this small town. I've been at the pool a lot with my friends." Kathy looked up to her brother after taking a bite of the burger on her plate. "What about you. Any new girlfriends?" She smirked at her fairly lame comment.
"No, actually. I'm still trying to find that one special girl."
"Whatever Benny," said Kathy rolling her eyes. "When was the last time you were with a girl for more than two weeks?"
Benny shook his head and laughed. "So, do you need a ride home?" he asked, noticing that they were both pretty much finished with their food.
"Well, Kelsey gets off soon, so I think I'll wait for her."
Benny nodded and finished paying. "See ya sis," he said and stood up to walk out of the small diner. Benny walked down the sidewalk to his old, red truck a few yards down the street. He moved around to the drivers side and opened the door when he noticed someone across the street in the corner of his eye. Benny turned around and looked across the street.
It was Jerry, an older resident of Orem Valley who owned one of the larger farms in Orem. He had lived here ever since Benny could remember and was always about town, meeting with other people and having fun despite his old age and frequent farm work. Benny would have usually smiled and waved to him, but Jerry didn't seem normal. Jerry usually had a big smile on his face, but today he had a dead facial expression. His eyes looked glazed over and he was stiff, with no movements. Also, not to mention Jerry was staring directly at Benny.
"Uh, hey Jerry," he said to the old man across the street. He made no anwer torwards Benny and didn't seem like he was planning on it. "What the hell," he said under his breath. That was weird. Jerry never acted like that. He almost seemed like he was in a trance or something. Benny ignored it and put his key in the ignition, took one last look at the man, still in the same position, and then took off back to his house.

"Shit. I'm late. AGAIN" he said jumping out of bed, pulling a pair of jeans on, a t-shirt and a cap.
"Where are you going?" retorted the naked woman, waking up.
"Work. Don't call me..I'll call you" and with that he ran to his Toyota truck and drove to a construction, in the centre of town.
"Bill...I'm sorry man. This is the last time" he excused himself to his boss.
But for the first time Bill did not give the usual answer "You always say that, Sam". No, instead he pushed Sam into a fence and yelled"One more time and you're fired"
Sam knew Bill was fed up with him being late and his lies, but he wasn't expecting that reaction. He noded and went off to work on the new building. He glanced back at Bill who's tan complexion seemed to be fadeing to a light gray, but he shruged it off.
It was mid afternoon when Nina arrived in her homtown, Orem Valley. The buss dropped her off in the centre, so she had to walk to her house, which was a couple of blocks away. Her mother did not know she was coming, so she didn't know what to expect. She glanced at the few faces that were wondering the streets that afternoon, int that dredful sun. Although being born and raised in Orem, living in Moscow for the past years, made Nina hate the sun. Nobody seemed familiar, but they were all staring at her.She was wearing a white dress and dark brown boots. Soon she reached her house, opened the door and saw her mother.
"ΠΡΠΈΠ²Π΅Ρ, ΠΌΠ°ΠΌΠ°"( Hello, mom) , Nina dropped the luggage and hugged her mother. She smiled at her, but her face grew sad as her mother did not look well at all.
"Mom...are you alright?
" Yes deary I'm fine, it's the sun. I missed you so much" and they continued catching up.

At spotting a familiar face, she slid over to the table to clear off the empty dishes while smiling at the female that occupied it. "Hey there Kathy! How have you been? Well I'm guessing?" She smiled with an arm full of dishes as she reached to grab the money on the table and stuffed it into her apron pocket, slipping her pen behind her ear as she began to wipe down the table, minding her friend's burger and drink still on the table.
"Haven't you heard though? Some kind of bug is going around, most of the girls have called in sick, not to mention some of the people in town are acting kind of strange. Whatever this bus is must be serious but it'll probably pass soon enough" She gave a soft shrug, glancing at her watch before holding the dishes in both hands. "Hey look, I get off in like 2 seconds. Let me take this back and change and we can hang out somewhere?" She offered with a smile before turning to hurry back to the kitchen to get the dishes washed before taking off her apron and quickly changing into her street clothes in the back that served as a locker room.
She slipped on her favorite jean shorts, her black flip flops and tossed on a blood red tanktop before snatching up her mini backpack and tossing it on as she made her way out towards Kathy. "Ready!"

Kathy got into what Kelsey had been saying about halfway into her speaking. Kathy had been so distracted by Jerry, that she had blocked out anything else. She looked up to Kelsey and smiled to her best friend. "Ya, ok. We can go back to my house if you want. Or the pool?" That was pretty much the only place they had here. The pool, the bowling alley, and the small little movie theatre that has one theatre only. She grabbed her purse from next to her and then looked up back at the window.
"Oh my fucking god!" she yelled covering her mouth. At the window right outside of her was Jerry staring into the window. She moved away from the window and stood up. He wasn't doing anything except looking in the window, but it still freaked her out. She watched him as she called to Kelsey. "Hurry up Kels." What the hell was wrong with this guy today?

"Howdy Jerry. Would you mind kindly stepping away from the window and not to freak that pretty little lady out."he noded towards Kathy.
But Jerry did not move. Being hot headed, Sam pulled him away from the window, only to see a strange looking Jerry.
"Oh man, I think I just lost my appetite." and he went inside the restaurant.
"Afternoon, m'am. "he took his cap off, greeting Kathy. "How's my favourite lady doing lately? Who's your brother?" he kind of sucked at making conversation. He likes the girl, well....he likes every girl.
"Mom, I'm going out to get some shopping done,, alright?Need something?
But Nina's mom didn't reply so she took it as a No. Little did she know her mother was going through hell.
Nina had changed into a pair of short jeans and white vest, hair loose and sunglasses on.
While walking trough town, she saw people looking as pale and sick as her mother. 'I guess it's got something to do with the air, or the sun" she shruged it off
On her way to the shop, she passed by some of her old friends house "Wonder how Kathy and Benny are doing and if they're still here" she smiled looking back at her high school years.

The bell above the door rang as a customer walked in, but she wasn't a small child. Quite the contrary actually. She was a tall, thin girl. She had pale skin and her raven black hair covered her face, not to mention she wore a long black hoodie and she kept her hood up shading her face, and her sunglasses covered her eyes.
Emma raised an eyebrow. Was she being held up? Not sure how to deal with whatever seemed to be going on, she spoke up, her fragile frame and light voice not at all intimidating, not to mention she was wearing a frilly pink dress. "May I help you, Ma'am?"
The girl looked up, but then quickly looked back down to her black converse. "I'm not sure anyone can help me," She said sarcastically, presenting a small smile at her own joke.
Emma just bit her lip. "Well, okay then... You just, uh, tell me if you need me."
The bell dinged again, and Emma filled with hope that maybe the sheriff was here to protect her from this creepy chick. But no luck, it was Richard. He'd always come, hit on her, buy absolutely nothing, then leave.
"See the sign?" Emma asked, beginning to get sick of his ways. "'No loitering'. You know what that means?"
"Is it... like a weird way to spell 'littering'?" He asked, scratching his head and doing his best to flex his muscles.
"No. It means buy something or get out... please." She was never really mean to anyone, but everyone has to make a living.
He just smirked. "Nice to see you too, doll-face." He then glanced over at the other customer. "Who's your friend?"
"I'm not her friend. The name is Janessa." The raven-haired girl growled.
"New around here?"
She snorted. "Hardly."

As Benny drove down the rode to his house, he almost turned into the driveway, but noticed the bright orange hair of the tall woman ahead and drove ahead instead. He sped up to get next to her and called out, "Nina Kerinina. What in the world are you doing here?" He had gone to high school with her, though she was a year under him. Even then, he still would hang out with her from time to time. There was only about 150 students altogether in Orem Valley High School.

Voice on phone said, "Yes.... that is right Agent Vartoz. We do not need to fail this... the Government is counting on us to wipe out the town... take no survivors. You know what it could to do if we did... if they slipped by our fingers infected. They could spread it."
"Yeah, I know... I'll do all my best sir. Just let me know when the U.S. Army is ready to deploy for the containment and quarantine procedure." He hangs up the phone and continues looking at all the satellite feeds of the virus spreading and seeing the lines of how the quarantine procedure would go and the containment process also. He begins talking to himself, "This is going to be one hell of a task... trying to keep this secret and trying to keep it under cover from the media.... I hope the Government has a good damn well back-up if this fails...." He stopped looking at laptop and looked up at his inside mirror to see a picture of his wife and him with the U.S. President.
His Partner(Which won't last long) began talking to him. "So... whats the orders?"
Agent Vartoz responded, "We wait... till the U.S. Army is ready to deploy and to start the quarantine and containment procedures. Until then, we just try to keep our cover and secrecy of this virus spread."
Partner Derrick looks, "I see.... it'll be hard but we can do it. This small town wouldn't mean much to the people anyways.... can't hurt, right?" He chuckles and looks outside from their Black bulletproof government escalade. "Not much to do in this pathetic town... but stare at people and be perverts...."
Agent Vartoz looks and gives a weak smile, "Yeah.... I guess so." He looks at the children and starts to feel a little pressure because they can't let no one be evacuated but thats their lie to have support of the people... once the quarantine and containment begins. "Well, we should stay alert... watch out for anything."
Derrick nods, "Yes Sir. You're the boss." He gave a slight chuckle.

Outside it was bright and beautiful, just as she had imagined. Of course, Emma wasn't the greatest decision maker and wasn't sure what would happen to her shop while she was gone, but she didn't care. She quickly set out on finding someone else to share this day with, though, seeing only a few people that she knew, and they all looked a little different, yet somewhat the same, she got the feeling she should stay away. Instead she decided to sit on a bench and just wait for a familiar person that didn't look insane.
