She said, shoving her way through people only to pass a wide street with flickering holographic signs, and even flickering street lights, perhaps Randin would get a glimpse of the happenings on the steps.

A young woman was being led up the steps of the temple, and just before they passed the street, a priest began to brutally stab her in a ritualistic sacrifice atop an altar. The people cheered and shouted when the brutal execution began, and like the pigs, blood was slung out into the crowds.

It would be amazing just how brutal a civilized and modern society could be, showing a Pagan barbarism not unlike ancient Rome.
