Several hours had passed since Jess had first entered the old church with no one but his thoughts to keep him company. Being completely engrossed with the memories of better times Jess had lost all sense of time and of his surroundings. The last of the men who had attended the saloon that night had finally stumbled back to his adopted home, leaving Jess and Daiyu as the only conscious individuals in the entire town. Jess' thoughts of his past would come to an abrupt end as the sounds of the encroaching strangers grew louder and had become more careless with the placement of heir steps. Having made their presence within Hope Falls quite clear the four enemy scouts proceeded to make their way to the first building that housed a new resident.

Within a matter of a few brief minutes the Chow family were completely torn to shreds by the savage marauders. The sound of the screams ripped Hope Falls new inhabitants from their sound sleep, then in a single movement they all jumped from their bedding and ran outside. The Chow family was nearer to the abandoned church and so Jess was the first to respond to the situation, and the only man to have actually rushed to assist the family, the others stood in front of their homes in complete shock and confusion. The thick and impenetrable darkness shielded the savages true identities, but everyone was sure that it was the young brave and perhaps a few friends.

Jess would have also bought into this assumption if he had not noticed the queer body structures that the four invaders possessed. Their bodies seemed disproportionate from the waist up, perhaps evidence of superior strength and tone. If Jess had not known any better he could have sworn that they each had horns of some type, or perhaps monstrously pointed ears. Jess then screamed for assistance from the men who were still standing outside their precious new homes. "One of you sorry bastards get your ass over here."
