Eve held onto Rand's hand tightly as they ran half-blindly through the veil of bloody red vapor. She stumbled and almost fell over the unidentifiable masses, which she concluded were most likely bodies... bodies of what? Everything there was dead. She heard bestial roars coming from behind them, indicating that they were being persued by more demonic creatures. Their feet pounded the dusty ground as they charged on. The calls of the beasts seemed to be drawing nearer, but that could have been her mind playing tricks on her, forcing her to pick up the pace. Even so, they did not appear to be far behind. The mist surrounded them, appearing to be closing in as they pushed their way through. The shadows were more frequent, dashing here and there all around them. The killer heat didn't help much, either. It felt like running through a super heated desert within a giant celestial oven. It seemed to take longer going out than coming in, even though they were sprinting like crazy. Evangeline began panting heavily as they made their way across the vast wasteland.
