Mary Rose Carew
“Did you hear that Katarina?” Mary Rose looked around, she was positive she had heard a shout from close by. Well it was a long time since she had heard something like that, maybe she was starting to hallucinate more. If that was the case it’s getting worse, she sighed heavily. If things keep up like this she wouldn’t stay sane for long. Maybe she would turn out to become one of them.
Sulking again she started drawing with her finger in the mud, there was nothing more to do anyway. Katarina seemed upset however, she hissed and walked around in circles. Apparently not happy about something, well Mary Rose understood why when she saw him coming forward. Katarina didn’t like others.
“Mary, Mary. Stop fretting, look! We've got visitors.”
Annoyed at first she gave him a harsh look, her name was not Mary. How dare he call her Mary. If he was too lazy to say her name couldn’t he just said Rose instead? But when she thought about it, he had mentioned something else also. Visitors? Oh, oh, oh! Looking up at him with big eyes she started to rise up as fast as she could, and still trying to keep a little of her grace. Which was hard since she almost tumbled while doing it. Turning around she could see them, how unpleasant they looked this time. What was with those clothes? And that hair! How could he have purple hair, how was that even possible? Leaning forward over her headstone she inspected them more thoroughly.
“It is happening again Katarina”, an hopeful look spread on her face while Katarina frowned clearly annoyed. “It is happening again.”
No it’s not. You are clearly just making this up, so just sit down like a nice girl and it will go away.
“You can not fool me Katarina.”
Realizing that the man, Leon she thought he called himself, couldn’t see Katarina she gazed back at him with an embarrassed look. But she wouldn’t excuse herself or try to explain, she was clearly not the only one who was going insane in this place. Inspecting the trio again while she pulled the bangs from her eyes she noticed it. Their – disturbing – appearance resembled his, when she thought about it didn’t he show up for the first time quite recently?
“Are you also from their time? You all have the same strange way of dressing”, she didn’t want to look away from what looked like the living but she did. It was rude to address a person and not looking them in the eyes. Looking closer at what he was wearing she nodded apologetically. “You seem to have better taste in clothes however, but I can not understand how your hair turned blue. And that one over there, purple? Strange is what it is.”
Maybe they use witchcraft?
Startled by what Katarina said, she took a few steps back. Witchcraft was bad, really bad. And she had spoken to one of them! Well, when she thought about it maybe it was acceptable in their time? But still, it was unpleasant.
