"I am fine, Sir." Yamada replied, trying to wave off his commander's concerns. "It is a minor injury, nothing too....worrying. I can get it taken care of later, once I'm off duty."
Yamada wasn't trying to overtly disobey his Captain's orders, of course. He just felt he'd be more useful up on the Bridge, rather than waiting in line down at the Medical Bay, to get his wrist taken care of. And, considering the more serious injuries others of the crew no doubt received, he'd probably be at the end of the line to be taken care of.
"Actually, I can fix her." Beto spoke up. He withered a little on the sudden attention focused on him, by Doctor Agosti and Nurse Edas, but he soldiered through all the same.
"Lal taught me how to fix her systems, should something like this happen, during our last assignment together." Beto continued, taking the padd from Edas. He studied the readouts for a minute, before nodding. Handing it back over to the nurse, he set to work.
He tinkered with Lal's positronic brain for a few minutes, using nearby tools to operate on her systems. Then, suddenly, Lal's eyes snapped open, as Beto turned on her operating systems. The Ferengi stepped back, letting the android sit up as she adjusted to her surroundings.
Lal blinked rapidly, taking a few nanoseconds to review her last viable memories, before her sudden and abrupt shutdown. She spent another few nanoseconds taking in the Medical Bay, reaching to the conclusion that someone had found her, and brought her here to be treated.
With that established, she reached her hands over to her head, closing the flap that revealed her positronic brain. She then looked over to Beto, giving the Ferengi a grateful smile.
"Thank you, Beto." she murmured politely, as she got up from her table. She did a quick system's check, wincing slightly as her pain receptors suddenly came online, reacting to the pain stimuli from the burn wounds on her body. However, Doctor Agosti had patched up her surface wounds quite nicely, so the pain wasn't too bad, which made Lal decide not to temporarily shut down her pain receptors.
Other than the lingering wounds from the burns, she was fine, her systems not overtly damaged from the sudden energy spike from the Slipstream Drive. Her emergency shutdown had initiated before any serious damage had been done, thankfully.
"My systems are operating to functional capacity." Lal announced, turning to face Doctor Agosti. "With your permission, Doctor, I would like to return to the Engineering Deck, to return to duty."
