xxxdon't let me do this to myself."
He didn't even let himself watch her as she brushed past him. He stayed staring at a fixed spot, only looking back at her when she came to stand in front of him again. And as she revealed that the bruise was from a "damn devereaux", he just laughed. "Really? You have the audacity to come looking for trouble on our territory, then say it's our fault you got attacked? If I set a foot in yours without my parents, without being on official business, I'd be killed in a heartbeat. And I don't even have anything to do with it."
He sighed and pulled out the hair tie holding his hair back in frustration. He'd tie it back up before he went back in to face his father. "I didn't ask for this, okay? I didn't even want to be here tonight. If I had my choice, I'd have nothing to do with this. But I don't. I didn't choose to be a part of this. If I had my choice, nobody would care what my surname was, I'd be able to fall for whoever the hell I wanted. I just..." He shrugged. Paused. Forced himself to take a deep breath and look anywhere other than at her. "You shouldn't have even been there in the first place." He wasn't making sense, his mind was a whirl and he really, really wanted to just leave already. But they were deep in Savant territory, which meant he wasn't walking out without his parents by his side.
