|| Dearly Beloved || Utada Hikaru ||
Jace could sense it, the stealth unit watching them. Callisto slept peacefully, but she did not. She was well aware of the dangers of introducing a new idol unit to the world. There would be rival companies that had been wanting to get their hands on GENOS tech for years, not to mention those who wanted to be rid of androids from their lives. Jace recognized the signature of course, unlike those two, she had not been erased. Fina was watching them, plotting something no doubt. That Lady Reiss couldn't help but keep her fingers out of the pie, couldn't she? "I see you," Jace rose and walked to the glass. She made a gesture at her eyes, then back towards Fina. The stealth units were not the only ones who had gotten an upgrade.
Jace returned to her perch, waiting there, watching, until the sun rose and Callisto came out of sleep mode. "It's snowing," Callisto whispered as she watched from the bed. "Morning," Jace rose from her seat, it struck Jace with longing how similar they were. Lita was Callisto, Callisto was Lita, Jace had to continually remind herself. "It's been so long since I've seen the snow," her eyes were full of nostalgia as she rose from the bed, shivering. "You should warm up soon," Jace moved closer, draping the blanket around her shoulders. "I'm going to make breakfast." Jace left the room, knowing that humans were sometimes sensitive about being seen nude.
Callisto entered the living area dressed for the day she twirled in her new clothes, her smile bright. "Is it too much? I've never worn anything so extravagant. Mama and Papa never had any money for such things," Callisto's smile was bright as she sat at the table, looking at the food Jace had prepared. "Dig in, you have a long day ahead, you're going to need the fuel." Callisto nodded, she couldn't remember the last time she had eaten. Buttered toast, sausages, eggs, it all tasted so good. There was none of that everything-turns-to-ashes taste from the chemo. She had no nausea either, Callisto ate a full breakfast and rose when a knock sounded at the door, it was already time to go.
Jace walked alongside her, the two of them taking the elevator to the awaiting vehicle. "You have a full schedule," Jace said, pulling it up in the corner of her eye. "Three recording sessions, then two interviews, another recording session, and then a celebration at Studio 9 for your debut. You'll have an outfit change sometime in the evening, so we'll be stopping back at the penthouse before then." Callisto's head was spinning from all of this information, she wasn't sure she was particularly happy about all of this, but this was the life she was given and even though she was owned as a toy to dance and make merry for the people, Callisto would enjoy it much more then rotting away in a hospital room somewhere.
Finally, something good was happening.
