|| The Death of a Bachelor || Panic! At the Disco ||
Echo was beginning to come out of sedation. With the crisis averted for now, the windows were allowed to open once more and light trickled into the facility. Echo felt dizzy as she fought off the wave of nausea, wanting to sit up but feeling disoriented when she tried. "Shh, it's okay, just rest, lay down." Doll urged, Melody having gone to see how Flame was doing. Christopher sat by the windowsill, Ariel and Lana going to help make a cake for all of the demons. Echo moaned pitifully. The last thing she needed was another stroke from the stress. "Just close your eyes and rest you silly demon," Doll urged, running her fingers through Echo's long hair. White from shock, was Elliot's theory. Or perhaps the blonde had simply faded to gray after not seeing sunlight for so long.
"D-d-did-did y-you wi-win?" Echo whispered, her eyes closed. "Yes," Doll replied honestly, "For now," Christopher added, watching through the window. He had that a serious look on his face, the one he most often wore when he wasn't brooding or scowling. "The demons will come back," Echo stiffened and Doll shot Christopher a glare. "We won't let them hurt you," Doll said soothingly as Echo began to shake. "I have good news," Elliot strode inside, Oliver beside him. He glared when he met Echo's eyes, the once fiery demon looking away almost immediately. "Flourspar and Ayna have awoken," Echo attempted to sit up, wanting to go to her friend immediately. "Of course, Flourspar is sleeping now because of the pain. I'm going to run some tests on both of them to see just what the extent of the damage is."
"S-s-see, I-I wa-want t-to s-s-see her." Echo attempted to sit up, "Now just hold on right there miss," Elliot strode over, hands on his hips. "You haven't drank your cup of water today," Echo looked down at her feet. "How are we ever gonna get this tube out of you if you don't eat or drink?" The demon avoided his gaze, looking at her feet. "Echo used to do this as a baby too," Doll added, "she's had an oral aversion since being reborn." Echo's cheeks turned bright red, it was true, even as a baby she had, had an NG tube. It was thanks to the efforts of Hawk and Flourspar that they had managed to get Echo to eat. "It's alright, we'll get it out of you eventually," Elliot reassured them. Echo hadn't been able to eat without throwing everything up since her arrival.
Doll and Christopher left, going to do a perimeter check. Echo transferred herself to her wheelchair, the never setting sun feeling nice on her skin after spending an entire day locked up. Elliot and Oliver too, had gone to check on the other patients. Echo went to the wooden box on the table, the one with the beautiful gold latches and velveteen inside. She opened it slowly, taking the violin out. Her hands trembled, it had been so long since she had last gotten to play. A part of her cried out in longing, recalling much more simple times when she did not remember her past self and had composed music beneath the East Tower, awaiting her match. Echo set the violin on her shoulder, pressing her chin against it. She took a deep breath and placed the bow against the strings, breathing out slowly as she played.
