Neden listened as the three of them continued to walk, barely stopping when Hayden began to explain what had happened earlier. Travis was apparently back and had asked for them specifically, which had caused them to stop walking and simply look at Hayden as he spoke. Neden gave him a small nod when he explained that Rosie had been there just moments before and took Travis somewhere, he didn’t know where exactly. Neden figured she probably took him back to her home, which wouldn’t surprise them. The angel was ready to start walking once more when Hayden stopped them once more, noticing that they had been in fact injured earlier, something that almost went unnoticed. “Hayden, it’s fine I-” the angel began to speak, but paused for a moment as they thought. Giving a small sigh and nod, they allowed Hayden to heal the wound on their left side, rolling up their shirt partially. There was a large gash wound that was rather deep, halfway in their abdomen that had some sort of burn or rash, clearly from the effects of silver being on the Hunter’s weapons.

The healing process hadn’t taken anymore than a few minutes, Neden looked off to the distance as they needed to distract themselves from the pain. After the wound had been healed as well as it was going to be, Neden gave Hayden a small smile and nod. Rolling their shirt back down, Neden looked up as Kaylessa began to speak. Saying how they had to help Travis, and that he was sorry for what he did, much like how Neden was. And how he had to have come here for a reason, that she felt something wasn’t entirely right. At first, Neden gave a small sigh and shook their head, they didn’t have time for this. They all needed to get back into town and help the others, but as they looked at Kay, Neden couldn’t help but feel guilty if they didn’t go back and help him. “Fine. But you two need to get out of here. Go back into town. I’ll be there shortly when I can.” the angel finally said after giving it another moment to process what they had agreed to.

Giving Kay a small pat on the head and another small smile before they turned and left. Taking note that Rosie must have brought Travis back to her home. Neden figured it was the best place to check first. Considering they didn’t want to waste much time, Neden took off in the direction of Rosie’s home in the woods, using their powers to help give them a little bit more of an edge to get there. Neden slowed down as the home came into view, and slowly walked up, making sure to be on guard incase any of the Hunters had already made it here. As Neden walked closer, there were a few figures that stood out amongst the rest of the otherwise empty property. Figures that Neden recognized. Spriggans and dryads were left to guard the home. It made sense. If Hunters were to try an attack, or if Travis tried to escape, he wouldn’t get far.

Neden slowly walked towards the home, making sure to give the tree-folk a small smile. They were stopped as one of the spriggans stepped forwards, placing what would be a hand on their chest, stopping them from getting any closer to the home. “I just want to talk to Travis. Okay?” the angel said as they looked up at the Spriggan. The spriggans and dryads only looked at each other in silence, before looking back at Neden. Shaking their heads no. They weren’t allowed to let anyone in, or out of the home. Neden sighed, rolling their eyes slightly. They really didn’t have time for this. Looking up at the tree-folk that stood infront of the door, “Look. Hunters have already been spotted in the south side of town, and I really am not having any of it. You let me inside and talk to Travis for not even...Ten minutes, and I will be out of your
.Hair faster than you know?” the angel tried to bargain with the tree spirits, who only looked at each other in silence, before looking back at Neden again, shaking their heads once more.

Neden sighed once more, stepping closer towards the tree-creature. “How about this. You let me inside for five minutes, and I make those little flower crowns and snacks that you like so much after all of this shit is over with. Deal?” the angel said as they crossed their arms, with a small grin on their face. The spriggans cracked a smile, and nodded slightly. Opening the door for the angel, closing it behind them as they entered. The main floor was entirely empty and silent, looking around for a moment, without touching anything, Neden noticed the basement door. Taking a deep breath, they unlocked and opened the door and headed down the stairs. Turning the corner as they reached the basement they noticed someone tied to a chair. Giving him a small smirk as they slowly walked over to him. “Hello, Travis.” Neden said simply to the Hunter, arms crossed over their chest. “You look a little...Tied up.”

Travis could only watch as Rosie went back upstairs and closed the door behind her, hearing her flip the lock on the door at the top of the stairs. He wasn’t sure what she was doing, or where she was going, and honestly expected her to come back down stairs soon and begin yelling at him. But as Travis waited a couple minutes it quickly became obvious that she wasn’t coming back down. He tried yelling out, but the only sound that came out was just muffled noises due to the gag that Rosie had tied around his head. He wiggled his hands and feet a bit, but the knots the siren had tied were tight and wouldn’t be easy to get out of.

As time went by Travis started getting antsy, not liking the time he was wasting being tied up in Rosie’s basement. He looked around to see if there was anything he could easily get to to help cut himself loose, but Rosie had moved his stuff. While there was a bunch of stuff she kept down here for storage, nothing that would help Trav out in his current predicament. Though as he scanned the room he did spot a rusty nail on the ground a few feet away from him, and if he able to get it, he could possibly use it to cut himself loose.

But as Travis began to maneuver the chair over to the nail, but leaned to the side too much caused him and the chair to tip over, hitting the ground hard since he wasn’t able to catch himself, though luckily the nail was a couple inches from him and was able to grab it. Though the sound of the basement door unlocking caught his attention. He quickly looked over to the stairs expecting Rosie to be walking down, but was surprised to see a taller figure, one he hadn’t expected but was actually glad to see. Neden. Though the being did have a different look about themselves, mostly their hair, but the way the aura they put off was different. Neden quickly greeted Travis and made a small joke about being tied up. Travis just rolled his eyes and said some things, but his words were once again muffled.

Neden smirked slightly as Travis obviously tried to talk, but whatever he said only came out as muffled gibberish due to the makeshift gag Rosie had used on him. Neden pulled the bandana down enough to let Travis talk, “Better?” the angel questioned.
Travis watched as Neden came closer and pulled the gag down so he could actually talk.

“Yes, it actually is.” Travis said as he spit out a little. “Actually the person I needed to see. Greythorne isn’t safe anymore. The Branded have been keeping tabs on all of you, they're going to attack again. Today.” He continued staring up at Neden. “I’m more help out there than tied up to this damn chair. I know them, I know who they're going to attack, I know their weaknesses. I am a resource to you.” He practically pleaded to them.

Neden gave him a short nod as he thanked them for at least letting him be able to talk, taking a few steps away from him as he spoke. Saying how Neden was who he wanted to see and speak to, as well as an attack was coming. Something they had already figured, but weren’t entirely sure on. Nodding as Travis continued to go on about knowing who they were going to attack, how they knew everyone’s weaknesses, and how he was a resource. Turning back to Travis, Neden’s eyebrow was raised for a moment as they were in thought. “I figured as much. I’ve already seen a few of your friends in the woods-”

“First off, they aren’t my friends. If anything they’ve noticed I’ve gone MIA and probably have me marked as kill on sight as a traitor. And second off, then you know what I’m on about Neden. Untie me and let me out there, at least we can get the jump on them before they attack.” Travis interrupted Neden as they spoke, feeling a little bad, but this was urgent.

Neden snapped their head over to look as Travis interrupted, saying they weren’t his friends, as well as how he was probably marked as a traitor and was one of their targets as well. The angel remained silent for a moment they thought for a moment, getting a small idea in their head. Neden leaned in close enough to Travis as they scanned over his face, before turning around for a moment. “Let you go? After everything that you did? You wormed your way into Greythorne, and fed The Branded information, all while pretending to be everyone’s friend. Why do you think I’d let you go?” Neden asked, an eyebrow arched for a moment as they looked over his face again before looking over the room for a moment, and then looking back at him. Both hands were neatly clasped behind Neden’s back as the angel looked at Travis.

As Neden got close to his face Travis didn’t flinch or show any sort of dismay and watched as they turned around and began talking, bringing up things he did while living in Greythorne. He turned away as Neden started to list them off, fidgeting with the rusty nail under his right palm, slowly making some progress through the rope, though occasionally stabbing himself. All the things he regretted he did, wished he didn’t do, and would go back and change if he could. There was a moment of silence as they finished speaking to him. “Not let me go. Let me help. I know what I did, I don’t need you to read me my sins. Things I regret. I don’t care if I die out there Neden!” He practically yelled, lunging in the chair he was still tied to. “I’d rather die out there fighting and trying to help this town, then die wishing I did something better. I’ve caused enough suffering and misery.” Travis leaned back in his chair letting out a deep sigh. “Now either untie me and let me help you, or just kill me. I don’t have time to just sit here doing nothing while our enemy gets ready to strike” Trav said, staring them down.

Neden listened as he said that he didn’t want to be let go, but be allowed to help. As well as how he didn’t need them out of all people telling him what he did wrong. Causing them to read him over once more as he continued talking. Neden didn’t get the feeling that he was trying to lie his way through this, or that he was bullshitting them in any way. Everything he said was true. Neden could feel the guilt and hurt radiate off of him with no resistance. For once, Travis wasn't impossible to figure out, which Neden noted as odd. Maybe he was being sincere in all of this. They looked him over as he continued, saying how he didn’t want to just sit here and die as The Branded came for them and slaughtered everyone. Neden sighed as they looked at Travis, biting their lip as they were in thought for a minute.

Neden pulled over another chair from the side, and took a seat. Looking at him for a moment in silence. They did have a common enemy, all too common. Whether Travis knew that, somehow figured out who they were, whether way before any of this, or when he left months ago. Neden wasn’t sure. Neden looking back up at Travis, “You’re right about one thing, Travis. We do have an enemy in common. But letting you out there, when the entire town already wants you dead, isn’t the way to go about things.” The angel said with a sigh as they looked down. “Trust me, they all want me dead just as much as you at this point. You’re not the only one that has done unforgivable things that we wish we could take back. But letting you go out those doors, armed or not is something I couldn’t live with.”” Neden said as they stood up from the chair, pushing it out of the way.

Silence filled the room for a moment before they looked back at Travis. “Hunter, right? Been in the Branded for a while, no? Did they ever tell you about Ronan?” Neden asked after a moment, looking back up with a look in their eyes that Travis had never seen. It was oddly calm, yet serious and yet, concerned and curious in nature.

Trav just stared through Neden as they grabbed a chair and sat infront of him as he slowed down moving the nail under his hand, with them being this close they would more than likely notice it so he had to stop for the moment. He sighed as they began to talk, about how he was right. Of course he was, he wouldn’t be here if he wasn’t, but they did have a point about the town wanting him dead. Travis rolled his eyes as they went on about wanting them dead as much as him, and about how they’ve done unforgivable things.

Though when Neden brought up a name, they caught Trav’s attention. “Ronan? One of the more decorated squad leads, but ran out on the Branded, labeled a traitor. Made an example of.” He paused for a second, looking at Neden, letting out a bit of a chuckle. “Seems like a good example right now
” He trailed off, before pausing and looking back at Neden, leaning forward, and using this as a moment to continue trying to break through the rope. “How do you know that name? They haven’t been active in years, before I joined up after my enlistment.” Travis asked, looking at Neden. He noticed a smile peek from their lips as he leaned back, taking a moment to think to himself as Neden didn’t answer. Thinking back to what he was told, and warned, about Ronan. A traitor, hunted down and killed for betraying the Branded and taking many lives with them. And then it clicked, and it made sense. Neden had always been the one to plan the patrols just right, and when they captured the scout, they didn’t want to interrogate him. Travis leaned forward again. “How? You
you were out numbered in North Dakota, 12 to 1, killed.”

Neden sat in silence as Travis began to talk, confirming he had heard the name before, which was a good start. And blinked as he continued on to confirm even more, even to the point of being hunted down after betraying them. But he didn’t know the truth. Not why they left The Branded, or why they were hunted down. He didn’t know any of it, and didn’t expect him to know. Why would they tell anyone the truth of what happened?

Turning to look at Travis, they could see the gears starting to turn in his head, piecing things together. Everything was slowly starting to make sense to Travis, which resulted in the shadow of a smile on their face. In silence Neden leaned back in the chair for a moment before getting back to their feet. “Sometimes pretending to be dead is the best thing you can do
” Neden said softly, finally breaking the silence. Neden looked around the room, and then back at Travis. ”The part they never tell is why. I saw what I was doing for what it really was, Travis. They made me believe they were monsters. Animalistic beings with no thoughts and feelings. Just like they made us all believe. I realized the truth and left. But not before they found out what I was. They hunted me down because they realized that one, I knew more about them than they liked, and two, they found I wasn’t human.”” Neden spoke softly as two large black wings slowly unravelled from behind them, looking Travis dead in the eyes as they continued to speak. ”So, naturally. What did they do, except for what they do best? They proceeded to hunt me down for years, until I decided to fake my death.” the angel slowly walked over to Travis, “It’s why you always confirm the kill.”” leaning in closely to Travis, Neden looked him in the eyes.

”Next time, don’t make it so obvious.”” Neden said as they walked behind him, kicking the back part of the chair so he was pushed forwards onto the floor. ”So get the fuck up, and let’s go. We already wasted enough time as is. You’re either in, or I’ll just let the Spriggans break you in half. Your choice.”” Neden said as they unsheathed another one of their daggers, handing it to him. ”So, are you a Hunter, or are you one of us?”

He just stared as Neden talked about their time with the Branded and faking their death. But as they stepped back and revealed their wings, Travis was in shock. Angel. He wouldn’t have ever guessed that was what Neden was. He never knew what type of supernatural being they were, but an angel makes sense. He waited as they circled around behind him, but was surprised when they kicked the chair forwards and he fell. Luckily the rope Travis was working on cutting broke so he was able to not just fall on his face. He slowly stood up and dusted himself off as the angel held out a dagger, asking if he was with them or a hunter. He just smiled as he took the dagger. “Let’s go, but you said something about spriggans?”

Neden looked at Travis as he asked about the Spriggans, giving a nod, “Rosie had some standing guard. But, They’re mostly harmless. Unless you piss them off. Which, you already have so. Best to just follow and keep your mouth shut, got it?” Neden warned, before turning around and began to make their way out of the house with Travis shortly behind them.
