Her body had been drawn towards the pumpkin carving section. The blonde couldn’t tell why she was drawn to it or how she could remember it was her favourite thing. It just felt right to say and it hit her in one of the warm spots of her heart. She could feel herself looking around at the people and seeing if she knew them or seeing if they knew her. Most people seemed to have more of a confused look for a second but it would fade.

It was when her eyes grazed by some of the carvings and landed on one in particular. The work was so intricate and nice. It took precision and years worth of practice to be that good, something only the Mathers could have done.

Elle could feel the thoughts of confusion wrap around her head and a headache coming on. Some things just came to her mind as if they were nothing, but they also seemed foreign.

The judges had come around to take a photo with the family that carved the pumpkin with all the fall foliage on it, and Elle had watched the boy in the middle hide his cider, which only amused her to the point of her lips curling up in a smile. Of course cider wasn’t the best thing to have in a photo that would be in the newspaper. Widow’s Peak probably tried to save what they could of their public image.

Her eyes glanced over the man in the middle again. Her heart could feel as though she knew him most of her life. She could almost feel herself step forward towards him to try and talk to him, but she realized she must seem like a crazed person. Instead her eyes met his gaze. His eyes were friendly yet sorrowful. Despite the fact that they were brown, they spoke thousands of languages and tugged you in closer. They were the stories of hundreds of years in foot traffic. But they were still kind and they were home.

Their gaze broke as he left immediately after the photo and went elsewhere. Elle was stunned for a few seconds, but immediately her feet carried her towards him. Her brain was trying to fit the pieces together as she ran to catch up with him.

It wasn’t until the last piece was in and she heard her name escape his lips. This was the person she was looking for, Leo Mathers.

Her eyes had gotten lost in his again, but this time it was like some of their best memories flooding in. It was their first date or the first time he helped her sneak out so she could party with everyone.

She nodded her head yes to him questioning if it were her. “Leo.” She spoke softly as she moved slowly to be in front of him before extending her hand out toward him. She desperately wanted to hug him, but she didn’t know what his boundaries were.

Elle had no idea what to say. He seemed like he was unsure of the fact that she was here and that she could see him. She could feel her heartbeat quicken, she didn’t know what would happen if he rejected her, was there something she was forgetting?

“Did something happen to us? We’re still together right? I feel like I have been dealing with amnesia the last few days. Did I hit my head hard the other day?” She couldn’t stop the rambling of questions that came out of her mouth, she could feel a searing headache trying to take over her thoughts.

“I-I’m sorry, I just don’t know who else to ask.” Elle felt a sense of comfort around Leo. She knew he meant something to her, she could feel some of the emotions and she had a decent chunk of memories. Elle just wanted more info and she hated having this feeling that she had blacked out or was concussed. How did she end up in the field by the water? Why was she out that far and not in town? Was it a camping trip gone wrong.

Her eyes had glazed over more a moment until she blinked and her eyes were more attentive to his. They were familiar and they felt like home. Before she even knew what she was saying or why it had blurted out of her lips, she couldn't take it back and she didn't know how to explain herself. Her hand had already instinctively gone to brush up against his, she hadn't grasped his hand or anything, but she did brush her finger against his.

"I missed you."
