Survival horror anyone?

a topic in Interest Checks, a part of the RPG forum.

Thinking about starting a roleplay, but don't have the idea completely finished? Post it here, not in the main OOC forum!

Survival horror anyone?

What's up lads and lasses?

Back again after a fairly big hiatus from the site! I'm a young Irishman that has always been a fan of roleplaying. I'm really keen on some RPs around the survival horror genre. Kind of like the Walking Dead for example although any form of survival-type of RP is good for me (such as Hunger Games, Saw, Island castaway, zombie apocalypse, Purge, escape etc.).

I generally only play male characters just because I find it easier being a guy, although I guess I could try female characters if needed. Oh and I don't have any real plots or stories planned out but I do like a good old brainstorm!

So if anything here sounds any bit appealing, hit me up!

Also, I generally only like RPs with characters 18 - 35 and with roleplayers that are consistent in activity and can write properly and with good grammar!

Catch you on the flip side folks ;)

I too have been absent a while. The store I worked at was being constructed and I am the hiring manger, so my last few months have been full of tons and tons of overtime. Exhausting. It is finally letting up a bit.

I like the vein of story you are talking about. My only problem is consistent activity. The good thing is, if I have a short-term absence [like a few days], I have no problem with people controlling my characters as long as it isn't life altering

Some sort of mix like the Purge, w/zombies or some sort of mutants, and a story like Escape From New York would be pretty interesting.

The disease, codenamed 'Nightmare,' spread throughout the globe with a fatality rate of 1/3rd of the infected. Half of those who lived through it were left physically weakened with little recovery. The government fought back, using fire against fire. They had another strain, this one intended for weaponized use, that they tested in the U.S. West Coast where Nightmare originated.

Fire with fire didn't work. Many more died, but those who did survive were changed. Mutated by the combined effects of the two contagions they were the walking images of the demons and monsters in bedtime stories.

Seven years later, the world is in disarray. Countries hardly have enough time to war with each other while there is a lack of food in their own borders. Civil war and disputes break out on a daily basis. The world's population shrinking and shrinking; The West Coast had been cordoned off. One day, a man made it out.

He revealed a dangerous secret in the heart of the quarantine. A scientist is working to create an army of the mutants. Gathering them together, with the weakened state of the government, would surely mean the end of the civilized world. There was no way an army could go in and take him out, and without a location, bombing would do no good.

They needed to infiltrate.

[OOC: Yeah yeah it is a little similar to Fallout but what story is truly original these days anyway. It doesn't have to be in the U.S. I'm just from there so it is what is familiar to me.]
