The Ascendent Nova Imperium, an empire of dragons born in the middle of a volcano, protected only by a few inches of a strange clear solid seemingly unaffected by the lava. They possess advanced plasma-based weaponry and high tech power armor. Throughout the millenia they have slowly, tentatively traveled to their neighboring solar systems, knowing that they were a young empire, and that even with their powerful technology, they could be defeated by those more experienced in the art of war. They have waged their wars, minor planets and empires. Their military is completely willing to devour the dead of their enemy, and will melt down the equipment of their enemy to convert them into their own more powerful weaponry. The Imperium's current goals are to take over planets well suited to agriculture to feed the homeworld, which is over crowded and suffering from lack of food.
Econonmy: The Imperium is one of the few nations to still use coins as the currency. This is mostly due to the dragons' obsessions with hoards. They resist trading with other nations, mainly because they view paper money and credits as worthless, and when they do trade, they demand they receive tangible goods. They refuse to have currency exchange rates, as they won't accept that paper money is worth anything. They view being self-sufficient as being important. While recent technological advances allow for implanted tools, they mostly have thralls and paid craftsmen do construction, machinery operation, and other manual labor heavily dependent on bipedal locomotion, though they are capable of resting on their hind legs, so they are certainly capable of these activites.
Politics: The empire's rulers are the imperial family, mainly the Emperor and Queen. They decide who is the next heir. All beings captured in war belong to the Emperor, though he usually sells them quickly to add to his already massive hoard. There are three other bloodlines in the Imperium, they have their own leadership but the Emperor can overrule their decisions at his will, usually to great outbursts. The rest are conquered people, they are allowed to maintain their government and beliefs so long as they adhere to the Imperium's wishes. However, thralls are often taken from people who resisted occupation.
Culture: The dragons of the Imperium are practical minded. Why celebrate a birthday? We can't die of old age. They do not celebrate the winning of a battle, or the hatching of an emperor's child. Conquering an enemy, that is a much better reason, or the child of an emperor ascending to the throne. Most dragons enjoy a good fight, and no hard feelings are held for being defeated in bar room brawls or other random fights. The Tal'thar bloodline is an exception to general feelings. They dislike violence and enjoy acquiring knowledge.
The Emperor: The current one has lived countless millenia, and is loved by his people. Emperor RuGaard is enormous, dwarfing even other dragons. His silver scales are thick, not able to be pierced by conventional arms. He is the one who united his planet. He is the one who pushed his people beyond the limits of the solar system. He controls the army. In battle he is a terrifing slaughterhouse, large enough that he can support four turrets along his sides, and his main weapon is a Mk 3 Ion cannon, normally mounted on Imperium Dreadnoughts. In civil matters he selects the governors of planets, he is the head of the Supreme Court, dispencing justice to criminals, he is the host of feasts. He will to whatever he can to ensure his people prosper.
Military: The Imperium's military forces are disiplined and become stronger each battle. They can and often do devour the dead of the enemy, meaning that a successful battle will eliminate the need to supply them with food. Their weapons are plasma based and they excell in and enjoy melee combat. They also often employ the soldiers of conquered enemies, paying them well and instilling a sense of loyalty to the Emperor. They refuse to give these soldiers their technologies, meaning they use their original equipment and tactics.

Notice: Captured or planets that have willingly joined the Imperium will often supply their own military forces and equipment for greater civilian technology and a large sum of money each year. This will result in a mixed army consisting of humaniod components and as such makes it difficult to identify equipment in these forces.
D`Harlan Forces: The Jovians are a group of a military expedition force. Due to equipment failures they had been trapped on D`Harla IV with limited technology for a few decades. At the time that the Imperium discovered them they were dying of starvation. The Emperor seized the opportunity to offer food, medical care, and shelter to the expedition if they swore loyalty to the Imperium. They readily agreed.

Te`Fetar: These Human colonists are a vital argiculutre source. Their military is based heavily on laser weaponry. They make excellent soldiers, and are respected by the other systems under Imperium control. They were conquered by the Imperium, after a long, hard war. They are well paid and supplied.
