You are students listening to a lecture on forgotten lore. Strange things are starting to occur, something from the outside is waiting to return and reclaim the earth.
It was a clear and stark mid-autumn day in Havenport Massachusetts, a seasonal event so long forgotten by the residents of this region, even the dark, phantom shrouded hills surrounding the abysmal town seemed to be effected. The sky was aglow with an orange tint, as the sun shyly hid behind an arrant cloud that had survived into the coming dawn. These were the thoughts that were on the minds of the unfortunate students currently stuck in Professor Phillips class on ancient lore at Arcana University. Professor Phillips is now concluding his morning lecture, "I have never put much stock in superstition myself, or belief in the supernatural for that matter, I feel that humanity has moved beyond such ludicrous notions. Here we are living in an age where scientific discoveries of vast proportions are constantly being divulged, take for instance the recent discoveries of Carl Anderson. The very notion of anti-matter seemed far-fetched only a few brief years ago, but now we have come to accept it as truth. We must accept the fact that there is no heavenly realm beyond our own material existence, that there is no life other then our noble selves in the ever expanding universe. These were the certainties that I have based my entire life and philosophy on, or at least, those things that I thought I knew for certain."
