Moving to the US from London proves a bigger challenge than Val expected. She had been excited until she actually had to go to school. She quickly found out that being the new kid wasn't as great as she had imagined. She tries to go by unnoticed but so far that isn't really working. Everyone seems to know who she is and she doesn't know how.

"I'm sorry," she said calmly and turned on her heels and left him. He didn't look up, instead stared down at his hands bitterly. Miserably he turned away and dragged himself to a bench, dug in his battered bag until he found a sketchpad and gently opened it. Flicking past previous pictures, he found a fresh page and began drawing, transferring all his feelings for the girl who had just broken his heart onto a piece of clean, white paper. Her brilliant red hair, sparkling brown eyes and smooth pale skin were all transferred onto the paper, emptying him of all love and sadness which he had accosiated with her. Slowly he lost himself in his drawing until the page was full and he was completely numb. Closing the book with a snap, he stood up and looked around, worry flickering into his expression as he realised the playground was empty.

Being late for class first thing monday morning was never good. Then again, neither was getting dumped but somehow, he felt, the teachers would never take pity on him for something as trivial as a break up. Pushing open the classroom door, he ran inside, slipping into his seat before anyone noticed him. He grinned slightly, glad he hadn't been noticed. Jace spread himself out, placing his English stuff on the desk before he noticed the normally empty seat beside him was taken by some girl he didn't recognise. Frowning slightly, he slowly ripped a page out of his English book and wrote a message in small, neat handwriting.
You new?

He pushed the note slowly towards the girl, smiling slightly. She was very pretty, he noticed. Beautiful even.

She looked up from her English book. She had been following what the teacher was talking about but having already learned this it wasn't such a big deal. She looked at the note on her desk, debating if it was worth taking the chance of getting caught on the first day. She shrugged the thought out of her head. After the first few days here she decided that at this school she could start over. She wouldn't just be the new girl. She would make herself the popular new girl. She smiled and picked up the note. She took her pen out of her backpack and looked at what the boy had written and smiled.
Yeah and you are?
She folded the note back up and smiled to herself. She slid the note back over to his desk while the teacher was writing something on the board.

Jace, ever the rebel, knew exactly where to conceal the note in order for it to remain out of view from everyone else. When everyones attention was focused on other trivial matters, he quickly penned a reply with pale, inkstained hands.
i'm jace. often reffered to as the guy who blew up the science lab ;) you are?

He slid the note over to the new girl and looked up at the class, just in time to see a slant of light hitting [i]her[/] hair, illuminating her red curls beautifully. Cursing himself for letting his eyes flick to her, he dug into his bag, gripping tightly to his sketchpad and allowed a sense of calm to wash over him like it always did when he was near his sketchpad. He really couldn't let anyone see how much her rejection had actually stung him, how much it had hurt him right down to his bones. It really was pathetic, how much he had trusted her, how far he had let her into his mind and all his inner thoughts. Stupid and pathetic.
He turned his mind back to the new girl, examining her writing a reply to his note. You can tell a lot about a person by their handwriting but even Jace, who was an expert at reading most people, drew a blank at this one. Her hadwriting told him nothing whatsoever about what kind of person lay within that pretty frame and he didn't like it. for someone who realy knew about people, it was very frustrating.

Val looked at the note and smiled. She looked up at him as he looked around the classroom. She didn't know why but she felt excited that he was actually talking to her and not making fun of her as most did.
I'm Valkyrie.
She put then put the note back on his desk. She leaned back in her seat and streched out her arms. She yawned a bit and glanced around the class. The teacher was still talking, it was like he never stopped. She wondered what classes Jace would have with her. No one seemed to be even looking at them which she was more than happy to keep it that way. She wondered if he had a girlfriend that would try to get revenge on her for talking to her boyfriend. She sighed at the thought.

Jace read the name on the paper carefully and was just about to pen a reply when a harsh, ringing sound echoed through the school, signifying the end of lesson one. He leapt up and ran to the door, only stopping to consider he should have offered to help Valkyrie after he had pushed through the doors and onto the neatly mown lawn of the school field. Too late for helping now, he spread himself out at the bottom of his favourite old oak tree and plugged in his headphones, blasting heavy beats into his eardrums to block out the surrounding sounds; girls squealing, boys wolf whistling, the steady thud of a football on the hard tarmac of the playground. He cast his mind around for a subject to think about which didn't invole her or anyone else who he accosiated with pain when his mind flicked back to the note in his hand.
He wondered what Valkyrie was like. She had seemed nice enough but then again, he didn't really know her all that well and she might turn out to be just as shallow and nasty as the rest of them. Maybe he should get to know her a little better...after all, it couldn't do any harm.

Valkyrie swung her backpack over her shoulder and grabbed her English book. She sighed and glanced out the window. She nodded a bit to the teacher before walking out the door. She walked to her locker and put her English book back. She looked around at all the people who were passing by. Some were glaring at her but some just smiled and kept on their way. She didn't know where to go now. She sighed and took out her schedule and looked at it. She quickly grabbed her science book and turned to walk towards where she thought her class was before being pushed by someone who had been chasing their friend through the halls. She sighed and picked up the few papers that had escaped from her binder. She wished she had never moved, things were so different here.

OOC: I assume we just jump in?

Xiao Qiao

Xiao Qiao walked down the hall of the school, "Music is next," she whispered to herself, beginning to jog, she turned and went outside, since first class was already over, she had a few minutes to hang out about the school.
She put her headphones on and began singing along with "Walking with Strangers" by The Birthday Massacre.

"Look around for a means to dissuade her attention.
Can't remember the places and names that she mentions.

My words are falling apart in spite of me.
I'm stepping out of the light so she can't see.
Don't think I'll miss her,
But I want to take her picture
When I found a place
Where she can't find me."
She walked outside, still singing, and climbed up a nearby tree, the volume of her voice increasing with every interval.

Jace looked startled as a small girl sat calmly in the tree above him, singing very loudly, apparently not aware of his existance. He wondered briefly if she was on drugs (enough in the school were for it to be considered normal) but then dismissed the thought. She didn't seem the type and she definately didn't have the wide, empty eyes he had seen so much of in all his old friends. Examining her, he realised that she too, was very pretty and tried to speculate where all these stunning girls had come from. He certainly hadn't noticed them before.
Listening to the girl's singing, he had to admit she was very talented. He mildly recognised the song but he couldn't put a name or an artist to it; it was probably one of his dad's old songs. Somehow, listening to her sweet voice was relaxing and he leaned casually against the tree, for once forgetting everything that had ever hurt him and everything that his nightmares consisted of. He could definately get used to this.

Charlie walked through the hall with his pericing blue eyes gleaming. He ran his fingers through his curly blonde hair as he stopped to talk to people on the way to class. Already everyone at school was a buzz with news of a 'new girl'. Charlie looked puzzled as people spoke of her openly. He quickly wondered who she was. Charlie was always fond of meeting new people. HE glanced at his watch and sighed. 'Why can't the day be shorter' he thought as he slowly walked to class. Small clusters of girls giggled as he ran his fingers through his hair once more. "Hi, Charlie." they seemed to say in a creepy unison tone. Charlie smiled akwardly and then walked into the classroom. He waved at a few people, that is until he bumped into the teacher. His books went spiraling to the floor.

Val looked around at the other people then looked at her schedule. She wandered aimlessly until she spotted her class. She smiled and walked in. She gave the teacher a small nod then headed to the back of the room. Almost no one was in class yet which so she finally had some time to herself. She put her book on the desk and sat down. She was in the corner in the back yet again but she didn't mind. She wished the teacher would open some of the curtains so it was somewhat lightlyer in here but she merely shrugged and looked down at her book. She wondered where everyone else was.

Jace raced into the clasroom, catapulting a small ginger kid into a desk as he passed. He couldn't afford to be late anymore after receiving over ten detentions last week for showing up late. It had been hard to pull himself away from the mysterious girls' singing however, and the peace of mind that came with it. Flinging himself down in the back row, he noticed with some satisfaction that he was sitting next to Valkyrie again. Smiling slightly he nodded to her as he got his books out, flicking his chesnut fringe out of his grey eyes.
Ripping a piece of paper out of his History book, he began drawing; elaborate faces with silent tears trickling down their cheeks; trees swaying gently in the wind, shedding leaves; a crushing crowd of people silently singing. Looking up, he saw a familiar face from across the room and waved.
"Charlie! Over here!" he called loudly, grinning as a number of nerds hissed nastily at him for disturbing their intelectual debates on chess. Thrusting the piece of paper under a book, he sat back in his chair.

Val smiled at Jace and watched as he drew. She loved watching people draw and he was a good artist. She looked up as he called someones name. She looked over towards the boy he had called. She hadn't even seen the boy sitting there. She looked at Jace and at the paper that was bairly hanging out from under his book. "May I see your drawing?" she asked as she looked at him, shyly.

Charlie smiled sheepishly at teh teacher and then quickly gethered his books. He then turned to sound of his name being called clear across the room. "Jace? Is that you?" Charlie squinted his eyes at JAce as he neared him. "Why haven't you been to soccer practice you nerd!" Charlie said putting JAce in a chocking head lock. He laughed fully amused. His blue eyes then wandered to the girl sitting next to his dear friend, he smiled nicely. "You must be the person everyone is talking about. Hi, i'm Charlie." Charlie said flashing his glistening white smile. HE then reached reached his hand out for a handshake.

It was then at that moment that noise was heard at teh door. A girl with long brown hair stood there aimlessly as she rustled through her purse. She was wearing a pair of red stilletoes(sp?) with a small black skirt with fishnet stockings along with a silk black blouse. IT was none other than Morgan Stillinger. She was know for alot of things around school. Maybe it was her surprisingly straight A's, her amazing ability to win almost every when it came down to contests, or maybe it was the commonly known fact that she had been with at

Jace grinned slightly and nodded at Val.
"Sure you can have it. It's rubbish anyway," he said ruefully, before turning back to Charlie. He had barely had time to register Charlie coming towards him when the muscular boy already had him in a headlock. Choking and laughing slightly, he hit out at Charlie but being much smaller, it didn't have much effect. When released, he sank back into his chair, breathing heavily and laughing. Jace grinned as Charlie turned on the smiles for the new girl- he was such a man whore. He glanced discretely at Val and,to his disappointment, she was smiling and lapping it all up. Why did he have to be so damn charming all the time?
Charlies head flicked up and Jace's automatically followed it and his eyes rested on Morgan Stillinger and he turned his head away in disgust. Seriously, what did everyone see in her? Se was nothing but a clever slut and he really didn't see what was so special about that...

Right behind Morgan was Yuffie. The one girl who was morgans "real friend". Yuffie was so surprised to see Charlie.. She has had the biggest crush on him since she can ever remember. She slowly walks over to her seat, which is next to Morgan.. She noticed that Charlie was looking at the 'new girl' with that flirty face of his. This made her jealous, so she got the nerve to say something to him. "Hi charlie.. it's cool that we have the same class" In the back of her mind.. she was thinking ' it's cool that we have the same class yuffie? come on!' :(

She looked at the girl who had walked up to them and looked down at her book. She sighed a bit, wondering if class would start soon or if they would all just stand around here talking. She ruffled her hair as she read. She was half listening to what people were saying. She looked over at Jace and smiled a bit then she looked at Charlie. She wondered if he was one of Jace's friends because she hadn't seen him before now not even throught the halls.

Jace, fed up with Charlie's constant flow of girls, turned his back on him and grinned at Val.
"So, how are you liking it here? Where did you used to live?" Out of the corner of his eye he saw the singing girl engage Charlie in a conversation and he wondered what she was like. She seemed quite spacey but by the way she was blushing when she spoke to Charlie made it instantly obvious to Jace that she was one of Charlies many admirerers. He wondered what it was like having a mass group of girls constantly after you. Of course, he had had quite a few girlfriends before (he'd even been out with Moran breifly) but he'd never had girls tripping over themselves to talk to him. Not that he was jelous, hell no, but it would be nice if he could have at least one girl swooning over him...just the one :)

"Its different here. I used to live in London," she said as she smiled at Jace. So far she prefered him over Charlie. He seemed nicer and he didn't have all the other girls drooling over him. "So when is class going to start or are we going to talk the whole time?" she asked as she watched him happily. She got her notebook out of her backpack and laid it on her desk and sighed. She would be happy when today was over and she could finally go home.

Jace grinned. "So you're a Londener then?" he murmered, getting out his notepad and pens. "Oh, in maths, we do nothing but talk. The teacher's rubbish". He breifly smiled at her before he started drawing, a head gradually forming on the page. Everyone now and then he looked up at Val, his sharp blue eyes taking in every aspect of her face and delicately putting it on paper. "Did you come here with your family?" he asked, adding pen to a particular feature of her face. He loved having new people to draw, since he was fed up with the old ones and couldn't really see why he'd want to draw them anyway. Humming randomly under his breath, he started smiling as he worked.
