The Order of the Gathering (IC)

The Nova Desert. A desolate wasteland full of large rock formations and the bones of the less fortunate. Many have tried to travel across this lifeless desert, only to fall at the feet of death as they baked in the hot sun. A desert so hot and vast that cacti don't even survive long in the middle of this large desert. Rain comes three times a year and only the outlining vegetation can survive from the harsh winds and the heated air that suffocates man and plants alike. In the very middle of the Nova desert, the hottest and unbearable place in the whole world, there is a gigantic rock with a large set of wooden double doors. And there is where the last of the vultures comes with a note.

"Sir, we have confirmation. Everyone received our letter and supplies. Are you sure that we should be bringing them all the way out here? I mean, the supplies we sent help us get around, but is it really necessary?" a young man walked over towards a slightly older man who was sitting inside the large rock in one of it's many rooms that were chiseled out by man. He was seated in front of a large, polished wooden table with chairs all around it.
"I am sir captain... this is the one place that the cult cannot survive. Even with their satanic and evil magic spells, nothing can get out here... so this is the perfect place for the Gathering..." he said in a rugged voice, looking over at the young captain who nodded and ran back to get ready for everyones arrival.

For days the tribe has been sending out magically enhanced robes and amulets to help everyone get to the middle of the desert with ease. They each sent two to each tribe, one for the leader, the other for their personal bodyguard. With each robe, he received a notice saying they would be at the meeting to discuss the recent spring of cult massacres and blood offerings. From the elves in the forest to the dwarves in the mountains, the cult spread like wildfire across the land. This leader knew that they needed to be stopped, but his army was much, much too small and he needed more help. So, he sat in the darkness of the large rock, only being lit by ten torches all around and waited patiently for his guests to arrive.
Yeah, I get it your an outcast, always under attack, always coming in last, no one owes you anything. I think you need a shotgun blast a kick in the ass, so paranoid, watch your back.

Zen looked to Kiel as they set off at night. He was wearing the cloak and amulet they were sent. "Come Kiel. We musn't keep our hosts waiting." He then starts to make his trek into the desert. He chose to leave at night for a few reasons. The desert was cooler at night was the first reason. The other was because they were much stronger at night. Strength is what they would need to cross the hellish area. He was unsure how long it would take but they would only walk at night.

Tamesis was silent as she readied herself for the journey. She knew that it would be tiring, nevertheless she would go. The evil that plagued this land had to be stopped, or they would surely perish. As she placed her bow and quiver onto her back she straightened herself and looked over to Cynoc. "Come now, my friend let us hasten." They had been traveling and had just reached the edge of the large dessert, Tamesis took in a large breath of air and began walking forward.
When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world—“No. You move.”

Forbedyn sat on a low branch of a tall oak tree, her legs swinging freely over the edge. She had on her cloak and held the amulet in her hand, waiting for her leader, Tael. She sighed. [Where is he..?] She leaned back until her body gave way to gravity and frimly held the branch with her legs, making herself hang upside-down. Her crossbow and quiver rested on a branch beside hers, patiently waiting for their misteress to pick them up.

Cynoc eased the greatsword on his back into a slightly more comfortable position. The trek thus far hadn't been so bad, if boring. Now though, it would start to get interesting. He almost felt like a kid again, going out on adventures and exploring, seeing new places, experiencing new things. Not now though, it may have felt that way, but he was on business. He was also with Tamesis, which meant he couldn't let his thoughts stray to much. He had to focus on protecting her. He looked sideways at her, studying her slender figure in the glistening light. She appeared to be just fine, not having let their journey so far get to her. He wasn't worried about her yet, but as his gaze shifted to take in the vast desert that lay before them, his worries began to surface all over again. He knew there was nothing he could say or do to keep her from going, so he was just resolved to stick as close to her as possible, and to keep a watchful eye on her.

"Come now, my friend let us hasten." she said, looking to him.

"At once m'lady." he replied, and nodded, moving in a little closer to her, stretching out his arms and legs one last time. As she started forward, so did he, keeping a pace behind her and to the side.

Sand shifted under her feet and she walked forward, her watchful eyes taking in every detail of the vast wasteland she now trekked though. The journey had been slow and uninteresting until that very moment, when she could find no water around her except the amount the two elves had on their person and the elves themselves. She had always hated the loss of a large body of water, it made the spot between her should blades itch. The cloak and amulet she had received made the journey easier through the dunes and rock formations.

Feeling her hand get uncomfortable she slipped her staff into a sheath on her hip to free her hands. A vulture soared over a far dune, Tamesis watched it until it flew out of her view again. The scavengers had always made her a little uncomfortable.

For simplicity: The Order of the Gathering OOC

Grumbling in acceptance the commander of the darkness tribe looked to the sky. The half moon glowed dimly, illuminating the amulet Kiel wore, the black cloak fell just above his ankles and seemed to keep both the heat and the cold at bay. He looked at Zen who was walking a few feet ahead of him. Both men wore the cloak, although Kiel thought it unfitting of Zen it was pointless to persuade him to cast it aside. Unknown to the man ahead of Kiel, he had a hatred of him. Zen, years younger then him had stolen the position he so desperately fought for since he was accepted into the army. However he knew that, were Zen to uncover this he would most likely be punished, severely.

"Sir." He said increasing his pace to match Zens, "Why didn't we travel on horseback?" Marching through the desert wasn't an enjoyable experience, even with the cloak and amulet. Riding on horseback would of both quickened and eased the travel. Hearing the answer he dug his hands deep into the pockets of his cloak, fingering the soft material as he followed in silence.

Troy was standing outside and felt the hot air hit his face with a whip. He looked up to see the last vulture circle around him as he lifted his arm. The vulture saw the gesture and flew down. landing on top of his arm and gripping onto his arms without digging into his flesh. Troy gently petted the side of the scavengers beak and knew by his return that the group was coming quicker then he though. He reached down in the sand and threw a dead carcass of a sand hyena. The sand hyenas were one source of food for them and were in the process of breeding and training them to ride on. The vulture screeched and flew off the arm, diving into the rotting meat and ripping it apart with it's beak. Troy turned around and headed inside to get everything ready for his guests.

Zen continues to walk foward at a constant pace. "On horseback we would be more vulnerable to arrows. We would also be more noticeable to any enemies. I hope we arrive soon, I detest this cloak." Zen reaches down and feels The Book of Ruin on his waist attached to a chain. To take so much time as it would to get his weapon out gave him an uneasy feeling. He wanted to get there as soon as possible. Before what seemed long the sun began to rise. "It seems we have been walking for much longer that I thought."

''We've been walking for nearly an entire night." Mumbled Kiel annoyed by the climate and it's inability to produce water. Telling himself to stop complaining in the confines of his mind Kiel admired the view to his right. A small bump towered compared to the dunes, it seemed so out of place; a tree thought Kiel before he took it seriously knowing that trees couldn't possibly grow in this hell hole. Looking to his left the horizon was void of any possible trees which meant what Kiel had seen wasn't a tree. The only possible reasoning left was a town.

"Sir, I think we missed the rendezvous." he said loudly extending his arm towards the blemish on the deserts horizon.

Zen turns around removing the hood from his head. His normal hood was okay but this one was to large and impared his vision. He walks over to Kiel and looks at where he was pointing. "They sent these robes yet we could have used a map. A vauge history lesson doesn't do it well. I think you are right. Either way it's worth a look. Good eye by the way." Zen begins to walk twoard where Kiel was pointing. He was hoping there was at least some shade there. He really did hate the light.

Michael waited patiently for his leader, Brother Santiga to get ready to leave for the Gathering. It was mainly Michael's fault that he was waiting, because he had woken up very early due to his eagerness. Michael had never been to a Gathering and knew that if he was chosen to be Brother Santiga's bodyguard, he would learn more information on the the new cult. Michael had his armor, sword, and shield equip as he stood next to his horse. All he needed, was for Brother Santiga to came and they would be off to the Nova desert.

Tael shifted in his robe. It was slightly small for him, but still comfortable. Stepping out of his tree-house, Tael stretched and smiled as he saw Forbedyn hanging from a tree. "Just like you, Forbedyn. Always hanging around." Chuckling slightly to himself, he descended to wooden stairs to the ground, where he finally donned the small knapsack that kept his real robe. Out of it, he felt...naked. That robe had served him well for many, many years. And it would for many, many more. Sighing heavily, he looked back up to his commander. "Ready to go? It will be a rather long trip."

Tamesis breathed in through her nose, hating the feel of the dry air on her tongue. They had been walking for a while now and she though it would be wise to rest soon. But she was far from tired at the time so she waited. A few minutes later she looked over at Cynoc and asked.

"Are you tired Cynoc?" she was not tired, but she would consider whom she traveled with. It would be rude not to.

Cynoc had been slowly losing attention to things around him, except the ever warming presence of his queen just in front of him. His mind had drifted off to thoughts of this morning before they had set out. He had been going over his training before packing, critiquing himself as he remembered it. He went over what he had packed, checking things off and making sure had had brought plenty of extra water, especially if it was needed for defense. He went over what Tamesis had packed, then what instructions they had both left before departing. He was nodding silently to himself with approval when Tamesis asked him if he was tired.

"Not at all m''lady. Just like enjoying a good afternoon stroll with a little mustyness. We can stop whenever you want though, if you're tired or would like to rest m'lady." he said, his voice instantly showing concern as he moved up to stand beside Tamesis and stare sideways at her, checking her body and face for signs of fatigue and wear.

She smiled and shook her head in a small gesture.

"I am not tired." she sighed and looked around out the desert. She knew that Cynoc was checking her expression and body movement for fatigue and let him do so. She enjoyed the company of her commander. "We are closer to our destination, I can feel a small water source up ahead, not far, but a good way along." she looked over at Cynoc, "Do you feel it, it is very faint, almost out of range."

Another vulture swooped over head and she frowned. Scavengers she scoffed in her head.

Cynoc craned his head slightly, trying to feel it out. He could, very faintly as she said. He almost couldn't tell if it was more water or not, at that distance, or possibly with that small of a quantity. He couldn't quite tell which it was yet. He nodded, looking back to Tamesis.

"Aye, m'lady. Barely though, as you said. Almost can't even tell if it's water, to be honest. You are a little better at that then I am anyway, of course. Tell me, m'lady, do you think that it's our destination? The meeting place for the Gathering?" he asked curiously, sweeping his gaze out and around the desert.

He noticed another vulture up overhead, and felt a little twitch between his shoulders. The birds were watching them. He edged a little closer to Tamesis, his hand rubbing the hilt of his weapon.

"I believe so, this place has no water, and the water source seems to be at the center of this wasteland." she watched the vulture. "It seems our hosts are watching us." As they reached the crest of a dune, a large rock could be seen in the distance. "There it is, our destination." Placing her feet sideways she slid down the dune gracefully, then stood at the bottom waiting for Cynoc to join her.

"We seem to be the first to arrive, which is interesting."

Grumbling in reply again Kiel sped up, like his leader the sunlight was not his favorite of lighting choices. The journey wasn't tiring, the conditions were but the commander fought them back, determined not to be the first to falter. The bump on the horizon grew, proving to be the city Kiel had thought it to be. However, it still wasn't within arms reach, a few more minutes, an hour at the most. The thought of being able to simply lie down, or sit down, relax at all nearly had Kiel excited, only the thought of the impending meetings to dull the raging excitement.

Zen keeps walking twoard the destination noticing the bird flying around above them. He places his arm up with to fingers extended out and the bird lands on his fingers. He slowly strokes the bird's back. "Our hosts seem to be expecting us. This means we are close. They would not send their vultures out too far where it could harm them." He continues to walk holding the bird.
