Religion in Chrome

Tips: 0.00 INK Postby Flarezone on Tue Apr 30, 2013 4:53 pm

Chrome is home to a single large pantheon of gods and goddesses.
_________________________________________________________________________________________________________

GREATER DEITIES

PATRON
God of Life, Order and Prosperity
The Patron is the fabled creator of the world and supreme deity of the "Spirit Realm"
He teaches his followers that chaos and anarchy is the path to destruction, but Order and justice is the path to prosperity.
The origins of The Patron are unknown and shrouded in mystery, but some believe that The Patron actually answer to a "Higher Power." But so far this higher power has yet to reveal themselves.

KYROS
Fallen God of Chaos and Destruction
Kyros is the brother of Patron. He hates his brother because he created the world of Chrome without consulting him beforehand. When Patron created Chrome, and the other realms, Kyros considered it a disgusting crime against nature. Unworthy of existance. After he descended to the mortal plain of Chrome, he was defeated and thrown into the Fallen Realm, a place of endless darkness and black fire. He teaches his followers that the creation of life is simply Patrons attempt to control the lives of mortals, and chaos is the only way to fight back. He urges them to worship him and give him regular live sacrifices, which will usher in "The Great Apocalypse" and destroy the world of Chrome forever.

VILYARITH
Goddess of Balance, Neutrality and Gnomes
Vilyarith is the creator of the Gnomes and wife of The Patron.
She teaches that in order to keep the world from falling into total chaos, there must be a balance between the forces of civilization and the forces of nature. When the forces of nature threaten to destroy civilization, Vilyarith rebuilds it. When the forces of civilization threaten to destroy nature, Vilyarith destroys it. She is the ultimate force of neutrality. Never getting involved in the problems of mortals or other deities unless they threaten the balance.

PHALAN
God of War, Strategy and Cyclops
He is the creator of the Cyclops, the lovers of war.
Phalan's teachings forbid cowardice (an offense punishable by eternal death if displayed in Warrior's Rest), require that his followers arm all who have need of arms (even their enemies), and teaches that war should not be feared, for it is fair in that all participants have the chance to rise to prominence or to die in the attempt. Though Phalan thrives on war, he does not revel in dragged-out slaughter, and teaches that it is best to win a battle decisively rather than engage in a war of attrition. His ways allow for retreats from hopeless battles, but with the admonition that battle must be joined first to determine if it really is hopeless. Phalan and his followers respect valor, and honor their opponents even as they strive to defeat them. He favors honorable tactics, showing favor to those who defeat their opponent on the field of battle without resorting to destruction of the enemy's homes, family, or to attacks from the rear (unless the enemy force is vastly superior). While Phalan encourages battle, he commands that the warriors first consider the consequences and not be reckless or indiscriminate in waging war. He also teaches that cowards and diplomats who are not willing to brandish or consider conflict wreak more damage than even the most violent tyrant, for those who will not fight to defend what they value are bound to lose it.

THERON
God of Death, The Dead and Judgment
To be the Lord of the Dead is to be the judgment of the departed souls. Being the newest Lord of Death in a long line of Evil gods, Theron wished to clear all the corruptions in the Realms of Death brought by former Lords of Death. He reshaped the Bone Castle, infernal citadel in the Gray Wastes of Hades where the old gods of death used to dwell, into the glorious Crystal Spire, its translucency representing that no more should Death be a frightening mystery. While faithful souls would be claimed by their respective deities, faithless souls and those with a false faith that his/her god did not want, are judged before the God of Death. Former Gods of Death would decide whether they were the Faithless, or the False. Either way, in the hands of old gods of death, these souls eventually ended up being eternally tortured. Theron, however, was more lenient on those Faithless and False who were virtuous and honorable in life, while the ones who were cowardly or capricious were severely punished. Those souls being judged as noble, would be sent to the then merrier and heaven-like parts in the City of Death, such as the Diamond City, while for thieves and cowards there were hell-like parts of the City such as Acid Swamps.
The Undead are his agents which fulfill his Will in the mortal realm of Chrome.

JANUR
God of Light, The Sun and Energy
The Fortress of the Sun, once known as "Light's Blessing", is Janur's dominion in the Spirit Realm. Janur's domain is a pure golden citadel. Standing tall, The Fortress of the Sun is the source of all heat and light throughout the Spirit Realm. Without Janur, Lights power would be destroyed and darkness would quickly sweep over the spirit realm. It's said the sun warms the hearts of the good and illuminates the secret acts of the evil. Janurians believe that the life-giving sun is the best cure for all of Chromes ills. Justice and freedom are brought about through charity, modesty, perseverance, and self-sacrifice. Janur's priests teach that the truly strong don't need to prove their power, they simply have to use that power for a good purpose. Pelorians strive to perform so many good acts that evil has no room in which to exist, though they will fight if necessary. Janur is wrathful against the forces of evil, and is especially opposed to the undead. However, Janur urges his followers to remember that excessive attention to things of evil can blind one to the truly important things: compassion and goodness. These are what must be emphasized above all. Janurian dogma, has it that the energy and power of life originates in the sun

ELLINIOM
Goddess of The Moon, Night and Dark Magic
Elliniom is an elven goddess who has dominion over the moon, night and dark magics. She is the wife of Corell and is also responsible for the moonlight curse which created many of the Lycanthrope monsters known today. Elliniom understands abandonment and loss better then any other deity. As a newborn, she was abandoned and left to die in the middle of the woods. Elliniom was discovered and rescued by an elf family who raised her. Her adopted family was persecuted and eventually killed by the locals when she was about 100 years old because of her being there. Elliniom then ran away into the wild. Becoming one with the night and friends with animals.

BELLOG

He also teaches that no matter how small you are or how big the world seems, that if you have an optimistic mind and a courageous heart then you can change the world.

ROAROCH

Roaroch is the most self centered of all the gods. As lord over all the oceans he finds the problems of "land dwellers" to be annoying and frustrating. KORON
God of Strength, Aggression and Power

She can be kind and aid those that she fancies, but she thrives on the death, destruction, and torture of anyone, including those of her own worshipers that have displeased her.

HELM
God Dragons, Honor, Loyalty and Draconic Magic
Helm is the creator of all the Draconic Races. Unlike most gods and much like lesser spirits, the Helm can be summoned to the physical plane for various purposes. To protect the Draconic races, to fight battles for worthy mortals, but there is a careful, almost impossible to exploit loophole in summoning the great Helm, by fooling him and making you seem good, you can bind him to an evil will, the apocalypse has nearly been wrought several times because of this. The Dragons refer to him as "The Great Helm Spirit, Great Helm, or the Helm Spirit." In bleak wars, the Dracon Council of Essim can summon the Helm Spirit to ensure victory for his children, the Dragonborn. It is said that the Helm hand-picks Dragonborn from the time they are first conceived. The Helm is often considered the entity of the world itself. It being the main force keeping the world, or it, in balance. This is the reason the God Helm is called the Helm Spirit.

Corell advises his faithful to guard against stagnation as well, continually seeking out new experiences. They seek to bring out beauty through art, craft, and magic. Corell blesses those who aid others. But he is upset at those who defile the dead, or flee from their foes.

DUMATH
God of Treasure, Crafting, Tradition and Dwarves
Dumath does not object to tunneling, mining, or gathering the treasures of Chrome, but he frowns on clumsy or haphazard mining. Dumath's worshipers are encouraged to seek out the hidden gifts that Dumath watches over and to enhance their natural beauty and the beauty of the mines from which they are taken. Dumath does not encourage greed, as he says that true beauty is found in discovery and crafting, not hoarding. Dumath teaches that tombs are to be kept inviolate and well tended. He deeply opposes the undead, particularly dwarven undead. Secrets are considered precious by the followers of Dumath.

SPIRATRIS
Demi-Goddess of Joy, Merriment and Hybrid Races
Spiratris was the first Hybrid to be born in Chrome during the 1st age, a Half-Elf. She lived a life of sorrow and loneliness. But instead of hating her Human and Elf parents for abandoning her, she swore and oath to treat everyday as a blessing. Just before she died, Patron visited Spiratris on her deathbed and offered her immortality as a reward for her kindness to others. She teaches her followers that depression and hatred towards others is the root of all evil and the only way to defeat sadness and anger is to bury it in happiness and kindness. She still wonders the world in secret to this day. Helping others and spreading her message.

DUROCK
Demi-God of Orcs, Conquest and Bloodlust
Durock was the only immortal Orc in existence and the 1st Orc to walk upon the mortal plain of Chrome. He originated as a twisted creation of the Goddess Lorne. After his creation, Lorne granted him Immortality and a command to conquer everything in his path. So he created Durock a mortal Wife, Lurom. She was just as savage and hateful as he was. After a few hundred years, a large community of Orcs had been spawned from these two. Eventually spreading out into the world.

PHAALOS
Demi-God of Minotaurs, Tyranny and Insanity
Phaalos was also created by the fallen Goddess Lorne. In much the same way as Durock was created. Accept when it came to his creation, The Fallen God Ocronum assited. Corrupting a human girl and Lorne giving her a beast-like desire to mate with a full grown bull. This eventually led to the birth of Phaalos, the 1st Minotaur and only Immortal one of their race. The outcome of this was surprising to the 2 evil gods, but never the less they took the opprotunity and created him a wife. Eventually, creating the powerful race of minotaur. Trapped between Savagery and Civilization. Phaalos eventually founded the Empire of Hedrock. Taking lordship over his descendents and forcing them to worship him and enslaving all other races that crossed his path.
