Altara Koloyros

"Why do I keep thinking of that girl...yet, I can't remember ever meeting her? Am I...going crazy?"

a character in “Abandoned In Amtophia”, originally authored by Nightblazer, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Altara Koloyros

ImageName: Altara Koloyros
Nicknames: None (right now)
Age: 21
Gender: Female

Theme: Xenoblade Chronicles - Memories
http://youtu.be/qJDpj-HRQu4

Orientation: Lesbian
Race: Human
Class: Warrior
Sub-class/Skills: Fighter/Red Mage hybrid
  • Primarily fights using physical weapons
  • Able to use magic spells of various kinds, though not as effectively as devoted magicians
Alignment: Neutral Good?

Level: 10
EXP: 0/1000

Height: 173 cm
Weight: 63 kg

Abilities: Just to be clear, any attacks/abilities she has to manually activate will be referred to as "Arts" here.
  • Peerlessness: Doubles Physical Strength for Altara (and other party members) Upon activation, debuffs currently on party members near Altara are shortened by 2 seconds, and a massive amount of aggro is placed upon Altara from all enemies she is fighting. Lasts 8 seconds, 45 second cooldown. Denoted when her eyes glow bright red, and an aura resembling flame of the same color surrounds her.
  • Mistral: A very fast thrust using Altara's spear, propelling her forward 2 meters. Inflicts Bleed for 10 seconds, causing the opponent to take a small amount of damage every 2 seconds. 15 second cooldown.
  • Sirocco: Powerful two-strike combo. Starts with a diagonal slash and then with a powerful thrust. Second hit reduces the target's Defense (resists physical damage) by 20%. If used on an opponent suffering from Bleed, it also reduces Physical Attack by 20%. 30 second cooldown.
(Note: Any underlined abilities cannot be activated at the same time, and activating one of them will cancel out any other that is currently in effect.
Weaknesses:
  • Cannot take physical attacks very well, particularly impact-type ones.
  • Getting hit with water attacks causes her to flinch. Also, speed is reduced by 10% while it's raining. Seems situational for now, but...
  • A lot of her arts rely on Mistral hitting an opponent and inflicting Bleed in order to work, so nullifying Mistral effectively ruins her strategy.
Personal Items and Weapons:
  • Steel Lance: A relatively useful spear, with decent durability and power. It resembles a sword with a long pole in lieu of a hilt. The entire spear is made of silver metal.
  • Zephyr Armor: Her silver armor, which isn't even a full set. Despite its appearances, it's actually quite light and rather weak--its true defensive power comes in its Resistance (reduces Magic damage).
  • Red and white sleeveless dress, and red thigh-high boots.
  • A pouch containing many small blank cards and a charcoal stick for keeping notes.
  • 25 gold coins (to start off).

Appearance: A young lady with long, unkempt red hair which is kept slightly more organized by wing-shaped hair clips. Not quite as tall or bulky as the next fighter, but still has a decent amount of muscle. Her eyes are bright red, and her face is rarely (if ever) adorned by makeup.
Oddities: Really likes doodling on blank cards from time to time.

Personality:
Quite adventurous and bold, though she usually catches herself before she can do anything too reckless. Tries to act maturely most of the time, though she isn't above making bad jokes--like puns. Is more content to travel around and get lost for a while, discovering a lot of new things before finding her way again, and usually doesn't buy maps as a result. Amazingly, Altara seems to have a good memory of the landmarks and scenery of places she's been to, though she usually downplays it.

Is one of those types of people who really gets hyped during battle, and frequently shouts out encouragement to her allies in the heat of the fight. However, she usually tries to hide any pain she herself is feeling, whether emotional or physical. If her allies notice something's wrong, she downplays it, telling them to worry about anyone else who is injured first.

But lately, there's been something troubling Altara. In addition to the amnesia nearly everyone else has suffered, an image keeps entering her mind--it is of a young lady with violet hair and blue eyes, wearing blue magician's robes and a kind smile. Whenever she has a moment to think, the red-haired knight wonders who it could be, unable to realize that girl was the player who owned her...

Bio:
  • Player's version: Altara was created on June 21st, 2014, as a travelling companion for a female player bearing the name "Stella." Having no friends in the game, Stella found it was difficult to handle the opponents in a certain dungeon, for they had high magic resistance. And with so much time and energy invested into her magic stats, she didn't want to build from the ground up all over again. Thus, she undertook a quest to hire a knight as an assistant in battles. The quest generator created a female spear wielder to help her--Altara.

The duo was able to clear the dungeon easily, and Stella found it was very helpful to have her own personal knight. Altara would attract the monsters' attention, tank all the hits with her armor, and inflict heavy physical damage to keep Stella safe. She was there to defend Stella when the player needed to use a healing item, and while Stella went to towns to buy new equipment or simply relax, Altara would go off to obtain items for crafting and more gold. Above all else, the A.I. given to Altara shouted out encouragement to Stella nearly all the time.

Unfortunately, as August came, Stella played the game less and less. She was sometimes asked by her knight companion about why she was awake (logged on) less often, but she frequently answered "none of your business." Finally, Stella stopped logging in altogether without cancelling her account, leaving the account to gather dust, and Altara was forgotten...
  • Rewritten version: Awaking in a forest near a seaside town named Brainde in Merrowvale, Altara could not remember a single detail about her past life. She didn't know where she was, or what she had been doing. The only thing that met her were hallucinations of a Blue Mage girl...unsure of what to do, she started walking towards Brainde so that she would be less vulnerable to monsters and bandits and such.

(Will fill in more of this later. After all, Altara has had amnesia, so why would this be on her profile right now? Hah.)
Likes: Traveling, fighting monsters (and winning, of course!), sweets (particularly of a strawberry variety), fruit, walking outside on a clear night
Dislikes: Stormy weather, bitter blends of tea, being forced to stay indoors for an entire day, TOMATOES.
Fears: Frequently worries she's going insane, due to her dreams of that violet-haired magician. And dreads swimming, of all things.

Other: Altara's name is derived from "Altarf," also known as Beta Cancri, the brightest star of the constellation Cancer. Her last name, Koloyros, is the Hindu name for Cancer itself. Even her spear, Acubens, is named after a star in Cancer--Alpha Cancri.

It seems the system went out of its way to emphasize how she was created during the first day of Cancer...

So begins...

Esk nodded and sat back, registering their names. He still had no idea who the knight and the pale girl was, though. Kazu was talking to her frantically, so maybe they knew each other? Well, Esk wasn't going to interrupt their conversation. He did save two spots for them, though, and kept half an eye out in case the pale girl tried to do anything strange to Carista. If anything unwanted happened, Esk was prepared to stop and help mediate the situation. After all, fighting wasn't normally allowed in bars, even if the bartender looked like she had fought a dragon and won. Tired, Esk stared at the door, wondering about the merchant. should I save a place for him...? he frowned, thinking.

His pondering was interrupted when he caught sight of a young woman peering from behind the door of the inn. Esk froze when he saw her smile. It was beautiful and malevolent, and Esk had a sudden flash about seeing a girl dressed in pink with the exact same expression when she had just found an interesting way to end a half-dead monsters life. It was gone as soon as it had appeared, but the feeling the flash of memory had given him remained. He tensed, cautiously watching her enter the room and walk towards them, fear and wariness making him alert. Esk refused to let down his guard, and subtly made sure that his weapons were in reach and easy to pull out if he wished to. Even though she now seemed harmless, friendly and strangely excited to meet Remeil (her cheeks flushed when she mentioned his name for some reason), That smile she had before entering the inn...

Esk moved, making sure that he was in position to protect everyone, especially Carista; who was talking to the woman in the cloak and therefore in the most danger, and Remeil; who was sleeping and therefore defenseless. He paid his full attention to her, prepared to react if she made any move, and waited for the awkwardly tall man who seemed to be their waiter to react to Carissa's beckoning. He nudged Remeil's shoulder, aiding Carista in waking him up. If Remeil had a bad reaction to the woman, Esk was ready to ask her to leave, using force if needed.

The twin-bladed swordsman in black put a hand on Altara's cheek and smiled before he spoke to her. "Well, if we managed to find each other, and we can both remember the same person, isn't that well enough an indicator that the person does indeed exist? I don't know what sort of terms we were on before, weather friends or enemies, but at least until we manage to discover our pasts, i would like it if we could work together. Just for the time being." Just as the door opened, he felt like something was wrong and his hand slipped from Altara's cheek and went to the hilt of one of his swords, but he froze seeing that it was a seemingly gentle looking Half-elf and his grip loosened slowly as if he were conflicted on weather to kill or to let her be. Finally he decided that it would be best if he let her play out her intentions rather than jump to conclusions. He kept his guard as he watched her from beside Altara, feeling very uneasy about her.

Tollun had remained unphased for most of the time in the bar, but when the new girl entered, something bothered Tollun. His glared burned in the direction of the new girl, the obvious signs of his distrust permeating across his body, well beyond his normal, even when he was on the run.

"I will have my normal. I have silver today." Tollun responded, knowing that Edsvig knew that he placed no value, beyond basic monetary, in silver or copper. It was a fact that dragons only cared about gold. He then made sure to tilt himself so that his recently acquired sword, the etching of a dragon still visible, shone in Edsvig's direction.

After another second, or two, Tollun spoke, this time in a hushed tone and in draconic. "Something is not right about the woman who just walked in. She is too well dressed to be acting like that around the red haired man. I don't know who she is affiliated with, but I don't like it."

Tollun hoped that Edsvig was the only other one who knew draconic, but he was prepared otherwise.

Syn looked around the shyly "Oh my I've seem to have drawn the attention of a few people." Giving her lower lip a nervous bite. "I'm sorry if I come off as weird. I must seem out of place since I was also a slave along side him. My clothes are much nicer I am aware but I wasn't forced to fight like him." Reaching down and stroking Remeil's crimson hair. "It would seem that a poison is still coursing through his body. I saw him take a guards blade to the stomach during his escape." She reached into a pouch on her hip and pulled to glass flasks. "The blade was dipped in this Basilisk Venom mixed with a few ingredients to cause paralysis to cover up the real poison. However this is the antidote." She looked closely at Remeil and sighed. "He needs water and to drink with it. Unfortunately the poison is already in the final stages if we don't act quickly he may die before tomorrow." Turning to the others. "We need to get him to a bed quickly."

Edsvig

Edsvig went about pouring a tall mug of ale, though keeping her eye on the strange woman that had entered her place of business. Returning to Tollun she sat the drink before him. She answered back in the same hushed tone in draconic, her grin falling to a more concerned tight lines. "She's no slave...Maybe a slaver. Did the red haired man say anything about his captures?"

"Kern! You sweet boy, I don't think they are quite ready. Why don't you go back to the kitchen and whip up a couple bowls of stew for them and some bread?" She watched as the giant lad nodded and made his way to the kitchen area that laid behind the bar. He may of looked menacing from his size, but if a fight was to break out he would only be in the way.

Listening in, Tollun heard the woman speak of an antidote... and Basilisk Venom. He had long known of it, being a slavers favorite due to the fact that it simply paralyses a victim until the antidote is administered, often killing those that it ends up starving rather than by venom.

Again with hushed draconic, Tollun spoke "You still have the freeleaf roots in the back. I think she isn't lying about the venom, but I doubt the rest. How he was acting and moving, it reminds me too much of when we first met. Kern had to haul me off the table before anyone noticed." A few seconds after that, Tollun came back to reality and continued, "All I know about him is that was a slave that was being chased by some far worse than the ones that chased me out of the city last. They had invisibility potions, but they scattered when their commander fell."

Tollun then reached over for his drink, dropping the appropriate amount of silver before picking up the mug. Taking only a sip off the top, Tollun only took small, fake sips afterwards. He knew what his favorite brew did to him, and right now he didn't need that.

She pocket the coin and made way to the kitchen. She did have a few freeleaf roots stored back there. She made quick work in boiling some water dropping some of the roots in to make a sort of tea. A lot like the one she had made for Tollun some time ago. After pouring some of the steaming liquid into a mug, she took a moment to see what Kern was doing. She sighed as it appeared the boy was getting more soup on the floor than in the bowls, and had managed to mangle her walnut bread in his failed attempts to cut it. She would have to deal with that later...

Back out to the main dining room, sitting the cup up on the counter before awkwardly pulling her small stubby body back up onto her crate. She tapped Tullon on the back of his arm, and pushed the brew closer to him. "Give this to your friend.."

Cardista

Not wanting to believe the woman she began to shake Remeil more forcefully, almost tearing up. Something about Syn seemed off and she wasn't about to let her give him any potions...For all she knew it could kill him quicker. Normally being the trusting sort, it was out of character for her to get this feeling from anyone and it scared her. Fear was not an emotion Cardista was familiar with and it felt as if the air getting thin in the room.
"Please...Please wake up!"
She hopped out of her chair, crawling up on the table in front of Remeil, as she continued to try to awaken him. Her head press to the side on the table as she closely watch for any sign of awareness in his face. Her tail hanging low in despair. It was almost childlike the way she refused to believe that he could not just awaken on his own.

Remeil's body collapsed to the ground as his eyes shot opened. A coughing fit came from his lungs as he tried standing up. "Gah...what was that!" Part of him felt like vomiting while the other wanted to keep what little contents existed in his stomachs. Everything felt like it was spinning and his vision was blurring in and out.

"Oh my, it looks like I might have to change my approach." Syn's voices carried through the air barely above a whisper.

Remeil froze at hearing Syn. A cold chill ran up his body and time seemed to slow time. His dream had come to an end. "So Azazel, you've come for me." Using the wall to brace himself he made his way to his feet. Trying to keep his balance he looked at the dark haired woman before him. "Master Zeno has found me."

"Zeno...?" Raising one brow quizzically. "Oh yes him! He's dead, well by now he should be." Syn clapped her hands with a smile and slowly approached Remeil with a strut. "I've come to tell you that and to make sure you haven't died." She ran one finger over his chest. "You should come with me, we can start over just me an you." She kept her tone sweet and sultry. "We could even hunt down other slavers and take everything from them. Including their lives."

"G-get away from me." Remeil pushed her away tripping in the process. "You're lying....Only pain....Serpent Rose." It took everything he had not to pass out again. His eyes darting around the room.

"Oh so you do remember my other name. Now Hell's Blade don't be stubborn and join me." Syn stood over him enjoying how pathetic he looked yet aggravated that he was so weak. "I promise Zeno is dead and can never harm you again."

Cardista shifted to sitting on the table now, paying hard attention to what was transpiring between Syn and Remeil. So they defiantly knew each other...Check.
She wiped the bottom of her sleeve at the corners of her eyes. She may of killed Remeil's wicked master...Check.
She lowered her small legs to the floor with a slight hop down. Syn seemed to dislike slavers too...Check.
Her ears lowered flat to her head not caring for the way Remeil seemed so displeased by the woman's advances and to be honest so was Card. Her tail fluffed as she watch him push the woman's hand away. She pushed in front of him, her back pressed tightly to Remeil. This of course did not provide him much coverage considering she only stood to his mid chest. She puffed up her chest as she narrowed her eyes up at this crazed woman. It was like a loyal pet hoovering over their wounded master. Her hands reaching back to touch at the sides of his hips, curling the tattered material of his shirt into her fingers. Working as his own personal neko shield she gave a small growl.
"Remeil doesn't seem to want you here...Which means we don't want you here."

Syn hated causing a large commotion and knowing all eyes were on her. Yet she would make the best of this and have her 'fun'. Oh and how much fun she would have with this adorable act of of protection by this little Neko woman. "Now isn't that just precious. Remeil has already found someone willing to fight for him." Moving slowly to the left and eyeing this would be shield, laughing at the sight. "I, wonder if you would still be standing there if you knew how many innocent people he had killed, would you still be standing there."

Remeil was shaking barely keeping himself standing. Feeling Cardista's hands grip his shirt sent his heart racing. Had he really become so weak he needed someone to stand and protect him. Many had died at his hand no matter how much he wish it wasn't true but Syn's words could not be ignored. "Azazel don't-"

"Shut up Remmy, I'm talking to this girl. Be a good boy and watch as I make her suffer. But don't worry I won't burn her like I did you." She gave him a smile before turning a glare to the cat girl. "Now girly how bout you let go of what belongs to me. Or would you rather fight." pulling a knife our and pointing it in her direction. "Or will Remeil fight me and truly claim his freedom."

"Don't you touch her..."Standing a bit straighter he reached for his blade attached to his waist. As his fingers wrapped around the hilt he felt his berserk side taking over slowly.....

Seeing Remeil grasp his blade, Kazu moved to Syn's flank and drew his own blades, his offhand drawing a smooth curve and it's tip leveled to the floor with his right handed blade seemed to float gracefully overhead. He didn't really know anyone within the inn other than the faint memory of Altara, but he had made a healthy pact with Esclava earlier, and he had been traveling with this group, so his promise of blade and blood would carry to these people as well.

He watched as Cardista attempted to shield Remeil and Syn drew her blade. His voice was lower and full of a dark sense of warning, but still gentle in his bell-like tone as he spoke towards Syn. "You may want to stow your blade Ma'lady. I would want to wetten my swords with the blood of a woman if I could avoid it, but at your current heading and speed, it may just be impossible to change course." His blades seemed as if they were frozen in time, completely unmoving. The intent to kill with his first strike was clearly evident as his lilac eyes affixated into Syn's eyes of burning crimson.

Merrowvale Brainde, The Minstrel's Mug
Server Down for 2 Days

While Altara and the black-haired boy were talking, the boy seemed to notice something going on behind them, and started watching it from behind Altara with an uneasy look, as though he had a sixth sense. Looking in the same direction, Altara could see there was yet another newcomer--a half elven lady with long black hair had sidled up next to the sleeping red-haired man, pulling out flasks and acting all emotional. To Altara, it just looked strange.

And then, everything turned upside down in the dining area all at once. The half dragon tipped the sleeping man's chair back and dumped a strange drink into his mouth, immediately causing the man to wake up--and then, he recognized the half elf, as somone hostile. Right then, the half-elf's demeanor also completely changed, and she started trying to...what even was that behavior? Seducing him? Threatening him?

Regardless, the man was making it very clear he wanted nothing to do with her, and that cat lady from earlier voiced this fact as well--only for the half elf to threaten her with a knife. As Altara looked on with wide eyes, a new thought entered her mind. And for the first time since her amnesia, she was completely confident in this choice.

Stop her. Now.

Moving her left hand down the shaft of her spear, she pulled the leather sheathe from its blade and tossed it aside, just as the black-haired boy who had been with her moved to Syn's side with blades drawn. Silently nodding to him as she sprang into action, the red-haired knight slid between the elf and the cat lady, holding her spear in both hands.

"Can you not take a hint?" she demanded, her temper flaring up. "I don't know what your past is with that man, but he's made it clear he doesn't want to be with you. And as for you, all you've shown so far is that you're willing to make people bleed when all they're doing is sticking up for friends!"

At that moment, her eyes flashed violet, and an aura resembling flames of similar color surrounded her. This was one of the magic spells she remembered she still could use, Bewitching Eyes. She couldn't remember if it worked on every single enemy she would ever meet, but it at least affected monsters and caused them to target her and only her for attacks. At the same time, it gave her greater control over her spear techniques, so that whenever Altara made a single attack, if she performed the movement just right, she could use the momentum to make another attack in a row.

"Let me spell out what we're all trying to tell you--leave this man alone!" Altara shouted defiantly, the flames rising in time with her shout.

Esclava

Esk got out of his seat in one swift, easy move and was beside Remeil and Cardista in an instant, ready to defend them. He could see that Kazu and the red haired knight were ready to take on the strange lady (Hostile. Weapons:unsure. Something small. Be careful when attacking her.), but the two who seemed to be in most danger were too close to the battlefield and might get in the way. He carefully grabbed Remeil's wrist, gently pulling it away from the hilt of the broadsword. "Let them handle it," Esk said softly, jerking his head towards the knight and Kazu. "Move to a safer location first, so that we don't get in the way of the battle." He grabbed Cardista and Remeil's arms, subtly guiding them towards Tollun, who was sitting by the bar and watching the proceedings. He nodded towards Tollun, handing the two over to him. "They're the targets. Protect them. I'll help." He muttered.

Pulling his saxes from their sheaths, Esk turned and moved back towards the battlefield, quietly moving towards a position that would allow him to both cover Kazu and the knight (they seem to know what they were doing and he might be a hindrance if he joined them) and defend the trio at the bar if needed. "Is it against the rules to do battle here?" He asked Tollun without moving his gaze from the half-elf. His saxes gleamed dimly in the light as he shifted into an offensive stance, prepared to both defend and attack. If so, he was fully prepared to interrupt the battle and force it outside. Failing that, he planned to help end the battle as quickly as possible.

She backed up even tighter to Remeil. Bending her leg up as she pulled out her own small dagger concealed within her knee high boots.. Though hand to hand was not her preferred style, Cardista wouldn't hesitate to at least try to fight off the woman if needed. Though the aide of the others jumping up to help was a relief and gave her more courage to stand up for her new friend. Her heart still raced with a surge of adrenaline that came with the crazed woman's threats.

She was so caught up in the moment she barely heard Esk speak to Remeil and suddenly broke out of her out of her heated moment as he pulled them both out of the line of fire and over to Tollun's direction. She looked up at the half dragon confused as to why it seemed as if she wasn't allowed to fight. Sure she wasn't the most gifted warrior, but she could at least try to hold her own. But she noticed the dwarven woman slipping a key up on to the counter, and figured that was for them...She grabbed it quickly nodding her thanks as she latched on to Remeil's hand practically dragging him up the bare wooden stairwell. She propped him up against the wall as she work quickly to unlock the door to one of the finished rooms. With a rough pull to the bottom of his shirt Card lead him in over to the bed, giving him a small shove so he knew she meant business. Also so that that he may rest, sit, or whatever he wanted to do in his still weakened state. After relocking the door she allowed herself to lean back against it, sighing as she slide down it's length to the floor sitting guard. Her legs bent up at the sides in a rather odd positioning.

After a long moment of letting her heart rate slow to a more normal pace, she looked over to Remeil in a questioning manner. She took a deep breath as she went to place her dagger back into the sheath of her boot's lining. Her voice still shaken.
"Who is that woman?"

Before the battle could truly begin, the voice of Tollun could be heard. He chose to speak the moment that Cardista had dragged Remeil out of sight.

"Move aside." The half-dragon commanded, his tone half pure rage, half someone is going to die. Reaching within a few feet of his target, next to a table with four chairs, Tollun spoke again, in the same tone. "This city may hide many crimes, but there are two laws that exist here without question. No one steals and all slavers die."

With his words spoke, and inhuman speed, Tollun threw a chair at Syn, following quickly after it, his blade ready to block an incoming blow or strike deep into her chest. His scales had changed color, now adding blood red streaks, as well as his blade's etching of a dragon glowing a evil shade of red. A shade that dragons knew as rage.

After his initial strike, Tollun would fling 5 more strikes, each with more strength and speed as his own rage grew by the power of his hate of the slaver.

Not like this was the first time he was fighting a slaver here. Several times before had him, and other slaves, draw slaver's purposefully to their communal lair. One half-dragon was a great threat, a room full of slaves added on to that... certain doom.

Esk swiftly moved out of range, eyes widening at Tollun's voice. It was full of rage, with the promise of certain death. His scales had turned red, and he had a long sword with a dragon etched on the flat side of the blade which was glowing in the same eerie red as his scales. He quickly turned around the room, scanning the area for Remeil and Cardista. They were nowhere to be seen. Good. Esk decided. Out of sight meant that the Slaver Lady with the strange interest in Remeil (Esk made a mental note to ask later why her cheeks had turned red) didn't know where they were, and was therefore more likely to lose interest in them and leave. She might even lose the battle with Tollun and be too injured to hunt for her prey. Or dead; Esk didn't care which unless it was against the rules of the inn. If it was, he would wait until the situation was over before accepting punishment.

Esk signalled to the others to get out of range as the half-dragon threw a chair at her. He grabbed the pale girl with red-tipped hair and pulled her out of the way, swiftly grabbing their belongings as well. No point for their belongings to be torn to pieces in the fight, after all. After he had hidden them in a safe place, Esk silently went back, staying close to the Pale Girl. He was pretty sure that Kazu and the Knight wouldn't interrupt, but he wasn't too sure about her. "Do not interfere with the fight for now," Esk warned her quietly. If she interrupted, he was pretty sure that Tollun; who was striking furiously at his opponent with his sword, would end up killing her by mistake. "Stay out of the way." He kept his saxes out and ready, in case Tollun and the others needed help or the Slaver Lady tried to attack them, and silently waited for the Match's result.

Kazu held his guard, slowly taking a few steps back positioning himself between the stairs to the upper level and Syn as to assure Remeil would not be followed. The Draconian would be the first line of defense, with himself as a close second. His stance slightly relaxed in order to loosen his muscles from unneeded strain, a moderate waiver appearing about his blades. "As you wish sir. My goal here is nothing more than to protect. If I can do so without need of spilling blood, all the better."

Scarlet watched for a moment as the black haired girl, seemingly allied with the majority present, drew her two swords. The young half elf was puzzled as to the others mastery of such a stance. Looking back on the few memories she had, she could seem to recall seeing a few people using two longswords, but they had always seemed to be clumsy in battle and easily disposed of, but this girl gave off a feeling of expertise that she had never felt before. Scarlet then pulled her hand away from the tall man holding her wrist and moved beside the twin blade. as she neared, she grasped her crossbow from her belt and giving it a simple well rehearsed flick of her wrist, it unfolded into a scythe, standing her full height and a half which she took hod of with both hands, one overhead, the other at her waist. The crescent blade resting on the ground in front of her ready to pull up into anything that approached.

Esk noted out of the corner of his eyes the Pale Girl standing beside Kazu and pulling out a crossbow, flicking it in what seemed like a move she had made many times before. When it turned into a scythe larger than her, the only sign of surprised he showed was his eyes widening slightly. Other than that, he kept his expression blank. Far-range weapon; turns into mid-range, his mind registered distantly. Powerful. She can take care of herself. Esk turned his full attention back to the battle, pushing the information back into the recesses of his mind.

Esk took a few steps closer to the right, positioning himself so that he wasn't in Tollun, Kazu and the Pale Girl's way. His mind noted the defense they made - Tollun; first line, Kazu and Pale Girl; second line. Esk placed himself to the right; guarding the right side of the inn. He was close enough that if either one of them needed help he could cover for them in time, but far enough that he wasn't in their fighting range (in case they wanted to try something unorthodox) and that it wasn't obvious that they were protecting the stairs. If the Slaver Lady got past Tollun, Esk would be able to throw his weapon at her before she even made it to the others, with himself following close behind. Though if the ones guarding the stairs reacted before he did, Esk would make sure to cover for them. He gripped his weapons, prepared to move when needed. He forced his muscles to relax just enough so that he would be able to move faster, and his head remained clear despite the andreline coursing through him. Raising his weapons slightly, Esk patiently watched the battle, prepared to step in the moment she got past Tollun, illogical though it may seem.

"An elf should not move like that." Tollun spoke after Syn left. He had met many who faster than him, but none naturally. No amount of training could out run a rampaging draconic, and this made Tollun uneasy. What kind of potion or spell had she taken to do such things, to move in such a way. No slaver should have been able to get access to that. After all, those were things kept secret by mages and masters who hid their talents in far off lands.
