"Why do I keep thinking of that girl...yet, I can't remember ever meeting her? Am I...going crazy?"

a character in “Abandoned In Amtophia”, originally authored by Nightblazer, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

Altara Koloyros

ImageName: Altara Koloyros
Nicknames: None (right now)
Age: 21
Gender: Female

Theme: Xenoblade Chronicles - Memories
http://youtu.be/qJDpj-HRQu4

Orientation: Lesbian
Race: Human
Class: Warrior
Sub-class/Skills: Fighter/Red Mage hybrid
  • Primarily fights using physical weapons
  • Able to use magic spells of various kinds, though not as effectively as devoted magicians
Alignment: Neutral Good?

Level: 10
EXP: 0/1000

Height: 173 cm
Weight: 63 kg

Abilities: Just to be clear, any attacks/abilities she has to manually activate will be referred to as "Arts" here.
  • Peerlessness: Doubles Physical Strength for Altara (and other party members) Upon activation, debuffs currently on party members near Altara are shortened by 2 seconds, and a massive amount of aggro is placed upon Altara from all enemies she is fighting. Lasts 8 seconds, 45 second cooldown. Denoted when her eyes glow bright red, and an aura resembling flame of the same color surrounds her.
  • Mistral: A very fast thrust using Altara's spear, propelling her forward 2 meters. Inflicts Bleed for 10 seconds, causing the opponent to take a small amount of damage every 2 seconds. 15 second cooldown.
  • Sirocco: Powerful two-strike combo. Starts with a diagonal slash and then with a powerful thrust. Second hit reduces the target's Defense (resists physical damage) by 20%. If used on an opponent suffering from Bleed, it also reduces Physical Attack by 20%. 30 second cooldown.
(Note: Any underlined abilities cannot be activated at the same time, and activating one of them will cancel out any other that is currently in effect.
Weaknesses:
  • Cannot take physical attacks very well, particularly impact-type ones.
  • Getting hit with water attacks causes her to flinch. Also, speed is reduced by 10% while it's raining. Seems situational for now, but...
  • A lot of her arts rely on Mistral hitting an opponent and inflicting Bleed in order to work, so nullifying Mistral effectively ruins her strategy.
Personal Items and Weapons:
  • Steel Lance: A relatively useful spear, with decent durability and power. It resembles a sword with a long pole in lieu of a hilt. The entire spear is made of silver metal.
  • Zephyr Armor: Her silver armor, which isn't even a full set. Despite its appearances, it's actually quite light and rather weak--its true defensive power comes in its Resistance (reduces Magic damage).
  • Red and white sleeveless dress, and red thigh-high boots.
  • A pouch containing many small blank cards and a charcoal stick for keeping notes.
  • 25 gold coins (to start off).

Appearance: A young lady with long, unkempt red hair which is kept slightly more organized by wing-shaped hair clips. Not quite as tall or bulky as the next fighter, but still has a decent amount of muscle. Her eyes are bright red, and her face is rarely (if ever) adorned by makeup.
Oddities: Really likes doodling on blank cards from time to time.

Personality:
Quite adventurous and bold, though she usually catches herself before she can do anything too reckless. Tries to act maturely most of the time, though she isn't above making bad jokes--like puns. Is more content to travel around and get lost for a while, discovering a lot of new things before finding her way again, and usually doesn't buy maps as a result. Amazingly, Altara seems to have a good memory of the landmarks and scenery of places she's been to, though she usually downplays it.

Is one of those types of people who really gets hyped during battle, and frequently shouts out encouragement to her allies in the heat of the fight. However, she usually tries to hide any pain she herself is feeling, whether emotional or physical. If her allies notice something's wrong, she downplays it, telling them to worry about anyone else who is injured first.

But lately, there's been something troubling Altara. In addition to the amnesia nearly everyone else has suffered, an image keeps entering her mind--it is of a young lady with violet hair and blue eyes, wearing blue magician's robes and a kind smile. Whenever she has a moment to think, the red-haired knight wonders who it could be, unable to realize that girl was the player who owned her...

Bio:
  • Player's version: Altara was created on June 21st, 2014, as a travelling companion for a female player bearing the name "Stella." Having no friends in the game, Stella found it was difficult to handle the opponents in a certain dungeon, for they had high magic resistance. And with so much time and energy invested into her magic stats, she didn't want to build from the ground up all over again. Thus, she undertook a quest to hire a knight as an assistant in battles. The quest generator created a female spear wielder to help her--Altara.

The duo was able to clear the dungeon easily, and Stella found it was very helpful to have her own personal knight. Altara would attract the monsters' attention, tank all the hits with her armor, and inflict heavy physical damage to keep Stella safe. She was there to defend Stella when the player needed to use a healing item, and while Stella went to towns to buy new equipment or simply relax, Altara would go off to obtain items for crafting and more gold. Above all else, the A.I. given to Altara shouted out encouragement to Stella nearly all the time.

Unfortunately, as August came, Stella played the game less and less. She was sometimes asked by her knight companion about why she was awake (logged on) less often, but she frequently answered "none of your business." Finally, Stella stopped logging in altogether without cancelling her account, leaving the account to gather dust, and Altara was forgotten...
  • Rewritten version: Awaking in a forest near a seaside town named Brainde in Merrowvale, Altara could not remember a single detail about her past life. She didn't know where she was, or what she had been doing. The only thing that met her were hallucinations of a Blue Mage girl...unsure of what to do, she started walking towards Brainde so that she would be less vulnerable to monsters and bandits and such.

(Will fill in more of this later. After all, Altara has had amnesia, so why would this be on her profile right now? Hah.)
Likes: Traveling, fighting monsters (and winning, of course!), sweets (particularly of a strawberry variety), fruit, walking outside on a clear night
Dislikes: Stormy weather, bitter blends of tea, being forced to stay indoors for an entire day, TOMATOES.
Fears: Frequently worries she's going insane, due to her dreams of that violet-haired magician. And dreads swimming, of all things.

Other: Altara's name is derived from "Altarf," also known as Beta Cancri, the brightest star of the constellation Cancer. Her last name, Koloyros, is the Hindu name for Cancer itself. Even her spear, Acubens, is named after a star in Cancer--Alpha Cancri.

It seems the system went out of its way to emphasize how she was created during the first day of Cancer...

So begins...

Merrowvale Brainde Outskirts
Server Down for 2 Days

Even now, after a full day, the rain was still coming down outside the town of Brainde, next to the sea, and the road was reduced to a horrid mire. It was hard not to feel depressed in these conditions.

Resting under the branches of a tree near the roadside and watching the rain come down, the red-haired young lady let out a long sigh. It didn't help that her mind filled with a sense of dread the longer she stood directly under the rain, letting the water soak into her clothes. "And to top it all off, I still don't even know what I'm doing here..." she muttered, looking around at the forest around her.

Really, the lady could barely remember anything. The few memories that surfaced were that her name was Altara Koloyros, and the spear which had been in her hands was named Acubens. Playing around with her hands on the spear's grip, she could recall some other things--various techniques she had performed using the spear, and magic spells, too.

But after that, everything was purely based on instinct. She couldn't remember anything that had happened since the rainstorm...or why she was so afraid of it. She couldn't even remember where this place was, or why she was there. It was frustrating on so many levels.

And then...there was that strange image of that girl again in her mind...

Immediately, Altara banished the image from her mind, still frightened each time the image appeared without warning in her mind's eyes. "...I'll just have to endure the weather a little longer," she told herself, though she sounded extremely unenthusiastic. Standing up and pulling Acubens from the grass in which it was stabbed, she started walking down the path towards the village, doing her best to ignore the rain.

The moment she passed through the seaside city's southern gate, Altara suddenly found a strange feeling filling her mind. Her eyes passed over the buildings of brick and wood to her sides, over the flooded dirt road, even into the filthy alleyways cutting between blocks. This place...looks familiar...?

She continued walking on, looking at everything in trance-like wonder. It was as though her body was guiding itself, knowing which path to take on its own. A market square opened up to her right, though the stalls looked rather bare and abandoned. And just further down this road was a place she could rest...right?

The name "Minstrel's Mug" surfaced in Altara's mind before the inn came into view, and surely enough, she could see the sign hanging from its entrance bore the exact same name. "This is really starting to freak me out," she muttered, looking around.

Just as she looked to her left, her eyes widened. There she was again--that girl who kept appearing in her mind's eye. She was running past, her blue robes and violet hair trailing in the wind. This girl's right hand was extended in the red-haired knight's direction, and her blue eyes were filled with excitement. Her lips were turned upwards in a smile, saying...

In a daze, Altara reached out towards the girl, only for her form to vanish into nothingness. Blinking, Altara stared at the space the blue magician girl had occupied for a long time. "...why do I keep seeing that girl?" she muttered, lowering her arm. "She's nothing more than a hallucination...right...?"

Feeling even more out of it than before, she decided she needed rest right away, and started walking straight towards the inn's entrance. But in her current mood, Altara carelessly held Acubens at a 45 degree angle over her shoulder, and there was a strange group of people from assorted species shopping at a vendor's cart just outside the inn.

She didn't think about how careless she was being until the spear's blade, still wrapped in its leather sheathe, came dangerously close to the head of a certain half-dragon with lustrous green scales.

Tollun was turning to enter the Minstrel's Mug when he noted the sheathed spear so close to his head. Looking at it for only a few moments, he pushed it away from his head slowly. That was when he saw her. A knight in silver armor suddenly surprised about something. However, something else bothered Tollun.

Tollun blinked, his eyes now glowing a mix of purple and green from the slit pupils. He turned to the group, their bodies now red silhouettes with a light blue outline and a small green sphere in their centers. Turning back to the night, Tollun saw a red silhouette with light blue strands moving about it, connecting to a dark blue outline that had thicker strands flailing about, and her sphere was both smaller and a much darker green than everyone else. When Tollun blinked again, the world returned to how it had been before and eyes ceased their glow

Now Tollun was curious, even though he felt a distaste at the silver armor, and he chose to peruse his curiosity. "You are different." Tollun spoke, his voice monotone and strong, but not loud, "Like something is missing, but like you have something more. Perhaps the more is taking something... important." As he spoke, Tollun's head tilted, now resting halfway up from it shoulders, his eyes seeming to pierce the knight's physical form.

When she suddenly felt something pushing against her spear, Altara glanced in that direction, realizing she had almost hit someone--the half-dragon, to be precise. She was about to give some sort of apology, when the half-dragon's disapproving eyes suddenly changed color, and he said something rather...cryptic sounding, to say the least.

"...what?...never mind, it's probably just some occult magic or something," the red-haired knight muttered, adjusting her spear so that it didn't threaten to knock into anyone's head again, and started walking away immediately, a bit more careful to avoid the other people in front of the inn this time.

While she passed by the vendor's cart, she glanced over the wares just in case there was anything she needed. Right now, she had around 20 gold coins in her pocket, and there wasn't much in the cart (as far as she could tell) that exceeded that in price.

Perhaps she should buy some food...but the Minstrel's Mug was right next to her anyway, and she could remember there was a dining area inside. In summary, it was probably best to leave any shopping for supplies for tomorrow. I'd better not be seeing phantoms again when that happens... Letting out a sigh, she pushed the door open.

But the clerk still looked confused, clearly still suffering from the effects of the amnesia. After asking herself whether she should bother the poor man or not, Altara decided she'd eat first, and so she headed for the doorway on the left side of the lobby, entering the large, dimly lit room which served as the dining area.

It didn't exactly look like much time had been spent trying to make this place look nice. There were no tablecloths, and some of the tables looked stained, as though no one had bothered to clean them properly. A bar was to the far end of the room, its shelves lined with various brands of wine. Nothing too famous, of course. However, no staff members were present as far as she could see--it almost felt like someone had simply set up all the tables, with candles and silverware and all that, and then just walked out without a care.

The only other person in the room was a lone man with long red hair (and a lot more disorganized than Altara's) sitting at one table, a pile of clothes set in front of him. As Altara neared, she could see this man was fast asleep. "Um...hey, you alright?" she asked quietly, nudging him gently on the shoulder. "There are better places to sleep than here, you know."

After the knight walked into the Minstrel's Mug, Tollun followed, his gaze hard and his body stiff. She was off to him, and he really didn't like that.

Tollun entered the Minstrel's Mug, quickly passing by the eternally confused clerk that Edvisg kept around to manage the rooms. Opening the doorway to the left, Tollun entered the dining area with a quick look around. And he found the knight again, but no Edvisg.

The bar was a heavy and durable wood, having had to have been replaced after nearly every other, weaker, bar was destroyed in fights. With confidence in his stride, Tollun walked up to the bar, only to pound on it several times. "Edvisg, you got people in here." Tollun shouted into the back.

Zeebarl was wondering if it was a better idea to have started his business inside the inn, shivering slightly as a small cold breeze blew past him, reminding himself he had been caught out in the rain for quite a while. He also suddenly realized the crimson haired man was apologizing for the neko taking the buttons, as well asking to trade a rather interesting looking pendant for a new tunic, the offered jewelry shinning a light as red as the man's hair, with what seemed to be the emblem of a proud lion at it's center. He must of been getting weary from his travels to have been distracted by weather over a trade. Before he could offer anything for the pendent however, or point out the tall, wiry, man besides him with equally red hair offering free clothes, the neko girl snatched the pendant straight out of the mans hand and stuffed it into her pouch, seeming adamant that the man besides her should not trade anything, as she grumbled under her voice when she handed the three silver coins over to Zeebarl. He decided it best not to listen in to the foreign words in case he discovered any curse words to rile himself up and simply gave a polite; "Much appreciated madam".

He then spun round in mild confusion as the half-dragon gently took the leather chest guard from him, inspecting the armor carefully to observe it's workmanship to which Zeebarl smiled and reassured with; "Ahhh, taking a closer look for yourself I see, but fret not fried, for I am a man of my word. It truly is a surprisingly sturdy piece you have there, in truth I had a good look at it myself before purchase."
His smile sunk a bit as he then saw his customer toss the armor in the air before planting a solid punch on to it, though seeing it didn't cause any massively visible damage, the half-dwarf sighed internally in relief, thankful that the rumored immense strength of those with dragons blood in their veins didn't necessarily mean they smashed up good armor immensely as well. Perhaps they were merely rumors after-all, or possibly Zeebarl was merely lucky and the customer held back their strength. He decided it would be wise to avoid commenting about it. He also seemed very pleased at the reptilian patrons own satisfaction of the armor, and almost giggled giddily to himself as the 8 old coins were placed gently on the cart, chuffed that no haggling was needed.
"Thank you very much kind sir, I assure you, you won't regret you purchase! It could very well save your life one day!", the merchant announced in a supposedly sincere manner as the half-dragon customer began adjusting the armor for himself, and Zeebarl snatched up his payment.

Zeebarl then turned to the sound of the neko lady's voice, as well the wonderful tune of a shaking coin purse, as she indicated she still wanted new trousers for the half-dragon he just sold the leather armor to, seeming to be the 'Tollun' she mentioned earlier, and handed the coin purse to the crimson haired gentleman, making it clear he was not to spend it on anything else it seemed. Pity, he had a few pieces of clothing that would fit the man. Before he could begin searching for the trousers however, the effeminate swordsman stepped forward, announcing that he believed Zeebarl charged to high for the buttons, which could now see as he held out the neko's wrist, was in fact true and were indeed crude wooden ones. Oh dear, a mistake this obvious already. Zeebarl certainly was losing his touch since the amnesia, and quickly raked his brains for a reply and a way to make some amount of amends without simply handing money completely over, which he was luckily given enough time due to the actions of others. It seemed the neko was un-phased at the prospect of possibly being cheated, another example of bizarre behavior in other people in Zeebarl's opinion, seeming weary from her travels as she made a beeline towards the tavern after taking her wrist from the man's grasp, who in turn apologized for being so forward, and seemed a little embarrassed as her hand gently touched his cheek, which Zeebarl decided meant he most likely was doing this out of the 'goodness of his heart', though he had to admit himself, he did act rashly, though still felt sore at the man lecturing him on the dangers and foolishness of overcharging in general, as Zeebarl was more interested at the shocking development of the tall wiry chap just handing the clothes to the crimson haired man, and offering to pay for the neko lady's buttons himself. Best quell the man's temper before it flared his own, Zeebarl thought to himself, as well as his view on how ridiculous the overly charitable red haired warrior was acting as the effeminate man encouraged the neko to take up the offer. Zeebarl composed himself, just as he saw the crimson haired man with his new clothes wander into the inn, finishing with formulating his thoughts on the recent accusation.

"My sincere apologies my good man, and dear lady, it seems I may be half blind after-all! You see, I mistook the buttons she had claimed of a higher value due to not having fully seen them before and, well, I have an extremely strict and personal policy against theft of even the most trivial of items and objects, and may have let my emotions over take my judgement. Please, allow me to hand you the allotted change for the buttons value from the silver coin, and a pair of the much requested trousers, near free of charge at the low price of 10 copper coins! Also deducted from the silver coin, of-course.", Zeebarl tactfully groveled, rummaging around his cart to take out a small pouch filled with bronze coins and a pair of rather ordinary green dyed cotton trousers, holding them out as an offering to the offended, while also quickly telling the tall wiry red haired man; "No need to worry about payments to her my friend, though you are mightily kind from what I have seen of your actions today, I recommend to simply carry these trousers for her, not that she requires someone to, but it seems she is immensely exhausted from her no doubt long journey. More of the gesture than the action would show thanks, I would say.", deciding this odd bit of rambling to bring a more innocent air around the not so innocent merchant, who noticed that the effeminate swordsman had an eye for something in his collection after-all, though seemed to be trying avoid Zeebarl catching his gaze, with merchant thinking to himself if he was guilty of trying to get a cheaper deal hidden in a concern for others, or merely trying not to set himself up for looking that way. No matter which one it was, Zeebarl definitely decided this was one cheeky sod.

He was temporarily distracted for a moment when he noticed near the entrance, a young, silver armored knight of sorts almost accidentally whacked the man he knew as Tollun on the head, and incident that Zeebarl seemed more concerned about a fight breaking out and endangering his wares than of either strangers safety, when Tollun paused to look at those around Zeebarl's cart and then back to the newly arrived knight, the half-dragons eyes now a strange new shade of purple and with Zeebarl holding his breath for a second. The merchant certainly wasn't in the mood to suddenly leave, especially with an inn so near and some customers even nearer.
However, Tollun was not angered. In fact, he seemed more curious than anything, and gave some odd little cryptic conversation to the new comer, from what Zeebarl could hear anyway. The knight seemed just as puzzled as Zeebarl was, but the merchant knocked his confusion aside when the newcomer walked by his cart, giving her polite nod, and hid his disappointment when she decided to wander into the inn,Tollun also following to inside. Ah well, probably just tired from traveling as well, Zeebarl thought, hiding his annoyance of just a quick browse from her as he directed his attention back on the effeminate man.
"Well sir, it seems you are quick to forgive because I believe I just saw a flash of desire in your eyes. No need to be embarrassed my good man, and simply for the sake of avoiding confusion, you may always haggle for prices my friend! Feel free to barter with some banter! Don't be shy, what can old Zeebarl Weasel Eyes help you with today?", the vendor chattered cheerfully, at the swordsman that previously spoke against the button situation, peering back at his cart in hopes of spotting what he was interested in.

Card felt awful hearing Esk apologize for muddying her clothing when it was her fault for being so careless and running into him. She shook her head quite vigorously, whipping her auburn hair wildly about. She raised her hands to refuse his offer, and then gave him a small pat on the arm and smiled up at him kindly. "No...I ran into you. Not your fault. It is all right." She shot him a small playful wink before continuing on her retreat into the Inn.

She couldn't help but to sigh as she opened the heavy door and stepped into the dark interior. She wasn't all too concerned with tracking in mud since it was clear to see the floor was dirt and a little mud was not going to matter. She curled her lips slightly in disappointment at the condition the Inn was in. It was more like a barn with a fireplace, bar and tables. All she wanted was a warm bath and it really didn't seem promising...She hoped the rooms and food were more exciting. She spotted Remeil, who was able to escape in before her and felt bad about getting so upset with him trying to peddle his own heirloom for tunic. She forgot he had been a slave, for maybe his whole life for all she knew and probably never had to barter before. Moving behind him, she gave a soft pet to his unruly hair and smiled thinking how innocent he seemed to her in that moment asleep with his head pressed to a filthy bar table drooling. Ah...haven't we all been there at some point in our lives, she thought to herself fondly. She took a seat next to him, resting her chin into a cupped palm and just watched him for a long while finding this quite amusing. Once the tender novelty wore off, with her free hand she gave the tip of his nose a poke adding her own little sound effect,
"Poof!"

Cardista was starting to feel a tad more lively and wanted for him to awaken so bad, but that seemed unlikely since she didn't get much of a reaction from poking his nose. She squirmed anxiously in her seat only to be delighted by watching the silver clad woman enter with Tollun following not far behind her. Though the look to his eyes seemed quite unusual...She waved to him all the same happily, as she heard him call for the scarred Dwarven woman that ran the place.

As the others continued into the inn, he waited outside in the streets with Zeebarl. Kazu seemed as though he didn't want to bring up the item that had caught his attention, but he did so anyways with a simple point of his finger at the whetstone sitting atop the cart. "For the whetstone... How much would you normally charge?" He didn't like to trade or barter for goods outside of a shop if he needn't, but for his blades, he would do almost anything.. He hadn't tried to lower the price of the wares for himself, but he still felt as though his previous actions would look suspicious now that he seemed to have a motive to do so. In truth, he had a flint grind with him that would serve him well for many days to come, but the whetstone would last much longer and hone a better cutting edge than the flint could ever render.

He awaited the answer patiently as he watched a young knight turn onto their street, her red hair flowing gently behind her around the long spear over her shoulder. As he watched her, Kazu caught a glimpse of a memory. He was in a small party, There were two girls, and one other male besides himself. The he and the other male had been asking for help scouting a dungeon for hours early in the morning until a woman in blue robes had came up and offered help, a young knight girl at her side. She had introduced each of them, but Kazu couldn't remember their names. His eyes blinked for a moment, coming back to the present. He looked around thinking he imagined her just to see her entering the inn. As he watched, a sound started to come to him and he whispered it aloud. "A...Alta..."

Kazu felt extremely puzzled by this. He felt that this 'memory' had been nothing more than a dream before, but now he wasn't quite so sure. He decided to approach the knight once inside the inn to see if she knew anything about the past few days. For now though, he had a trade that he was almost desperate to make good on.

Scarlet sat in her bed at the inn for hours curled into a tight ball whispering to herself in tears as she tried to remember any trace of who she was. Finally, she had come to a few simple facts that she would continue to repeat until she was sure that she wouldn't soon forget them. "My name is Scarlet Evalynne Black. I'm 17 years old. I woke up with amnesia in an in. I was born in... um... My master's name is.. I have a master?" She shook her head, forcing the questions to go away and let her focus more on the facts she knew to be true. "My name is Scarlet Evalynne Black. I'm 17 years old. I woke up with amnesia in an in. I am an X-Scythe wielder. My favourite dessert is cheesecake. My name is Scarlet Evalynne Black. I'm 17 years old. I woke up with amnesia in an in. I am an X-Scythe wielder. My favourite dessert is cheesecake... I don't like being alone... At the last statement, her eyes began to well with tears again. She was about to lay her head on the pillow of the bed when she heard the bell of the inn's door ring downstairs. She stood, and cautiously moved to the door and opened it. The fireplace let off a warm glow that casts the shadows of quite a few people coming into the inn, one of which already seemed to be asleep with his head rested across a table. She continued down the stairs slowly to attempt to speak to some of the group when she noticed a beautiful girl walk by. She watched her for a moment before her senses caught that the girl had Cat ears and a tail that seemed to sway as if it were real. She didn't believe it at first and approached the 'Kittygirl' as she was already calling her in her head. Scarlet reached out and slowly ran her fingertips down along the girls tail in curiosity.

Esk gave a slow nod in response, slipping the coin back into his pocket. Although he said nothing, he felt relieved. I don't need to repay her... A puzzled frown broke out on his face as he thought of another question. What're their names? And do they know my aunt? His aunt! Esk had almost forgotten about her, what with meeting new people and all. He resolved to ask the others for their names, and if they knew his aunt. He only knew the names of the Draconian man, merchant and dual swordsman, after all..

Well, no matter. Esk turned and walked into the Minstrel's Mug, just in time to hear Tollun pounding the bar and yelling for someone called Esvig. He walked towards the table where the others had gathered, noting that the crimson-haired man was fast asleep on the clothes Esk had given to him and that the red headed knight (Strong and honorable, but weak without their weapons. the battle he had with one during a party Master was hosting had been fun, even though Esk had lost. The punishment Master had given him for losing was horrible, though. Apparently, Master had lost some money betting on him.) who had almost hit Tollun with her spear outside was with them. He sat beside the cat girl, placing his pack behind him on the chair. Esk had been to a few bars before, and knew enough that they had food. He made a mental note to buy some; he hadn't eaten earlier and was starting to feel hungry. He pushed his hood back down and introduced himself, asking for their names.

Right after he had done so, he caught glimpse of a pale girl with red-tipped black hair trying to touch the cat girl's tail. He silently reached out, and gently grasped her wrist, pulling her hand away from the tail. 'Don't do that.' Esk muttered. "It's... Rude." Also deadly, he thought. He had a slight memory of seeing a Neko take down someone who had touched his tail. Although he couldn't really remember any details, he had a feeling it hadn't been pretty. Once he was sure that the girl wasn't going to touch the tail, he let her go and said. "Name's Esclava. What's your's?"

Figuring she wouldn't be able to get the wild red-haired man to wake up, Altara decided it was best to let him keep sleeping, and started moving away. Other people were starting to appear in the room now, most of them from outside--a woman with the ears and tail of a cat, another red-haired man with twin long knives hanging from his belt, a black-haired girl with a red cape draped over her shoulders, that half-dragon from before...

It was starting to get crowded in here, yet even still, no staff members had appeared to attend to this strange group. Literally nothing was going right today. Letting out a quiet sigh and turning on her heel, Altara decided she might as well get a room first--though, the clerk was probably going to be extremely hard to deal with in his daze. Maybe she could just take a key and leave money in front of him...?

She walked out of the dining area and back towards the front desk, hoping she wouldn't dream up that blue magician girl again. Knocking her silver-clad knuckles gently against the desk, she quietly asked the clerk, "Are there any other rooms available in here?"

With only one look at her armor and spear, the clerk seemed to cower even more fearfully, as though he thought she was here to attack him. Nervously and without any coherent words, he looked around his desk, trying to find the records or the keys or something, but he only succeeded in getting himself more confused in his lack of memory.

Altara's frustration was really starting to boil over, but she merely pursed her lips together and gently leaned with her back against the desk, looking out towards the street. Even now, it still didn't seem as though the rain was stopping any time soon...

Edvisg

"Oh deary, don't mind him...The boy's an idiot! Also I'm coming ya' old lizard, Tolun!" An older woman's voice rang out from a small room behind the bar. Soon an dwarf woman would imerge through the doorway, dragging her right leg in a slow limp as she made her way over to the counter. Her salt and pepper hair was pulled up in a loose bun on top her head. There was large scar running over the left side of her wrinkled face, right over her slate gray eyes, which seemed to have a genuine glow of kindness. Stepping upon a wooden crate on her side of the bar, to allow herself a better view of the impatient Lady Knight, She offer her a kind smile before scanning over the room in delight of how many people seemed to be gracing her modest little business. It normally was only this packed on nights the town counsel held their "meetings".

"I apologize for my boy, Kern. He has been acting so strangely the past two days, it's like he is as scared of everything like a new born kitten." With a small exhausted sigh, as she peered round the woman at her old friend Tollun giving him a small wave, before returning all her interest back to Altara. "My name id Edvisg, owner of this simple place, nice to meet you. So luv, you are in need of a room for this gloriously stormy evening? I have several open. I even got some of them redecorated to their former glory!" Edvisg seemed to beam with pride when she said this. Rebuilding had not been easy or finding the coin to recreate the place to it's former glory was not easy to come by. She had a second floor recently completed though with a nice wooden floor and housing 6 small rooms. The finished ones included a large bed, a chest at the foot, a large bath tub (more like a big metal wash basin that one could sit in carefully if they chose to), and a large mirror. There were also a wardrobe and two small end table that done simple oil lamps. Alias there were still 3 rooms that only offered an end table or two with an oil lamp and several straw bed mats laying all along the floor. "I have private rooms for 10 silver a night and a public room, meaning you may have to share for 1 silver." Patiently she continued to smile at the young lady awaiting her choice.

Cardista

A bright smiled brimmed over her full cherry lips, as Esk seated himself at their table and made a friendly introduction more formally as she lowered his hood for the first time before them.
"I am Carista and", She gave a small pet to Remeil's unconscious head, And this is Remeil. He must be tired from being attacked'd from his master's guards."
Hearing Esk's warnings about something being rude, her natural reaction was to withdraw her own hand from the man's head thinking it was directed towards her. She arched a high brow as she saw he was directing the comment to someone behind her. Turning, mostly at her waist, she peeked over the back of her chair to see the young woman knelt down ready to pet her fluffy red tail that hung out over the back through the opening. She gave a small giggle loving the fact someone was as curios as her it seemed, locking her two toned eyes on the teenager intently, she gave her the okay. "She can touch it if she cares to. I will not mind, but no pulling."

Kazu awaited his answer from Zeebarl for a few moments before deciding to enter the inn himself. If the merchant wished to conduct business with him, It could be done inside out of the elements. As she entered, he saw most of the group had gathered near a few tables and decided to join them. As he approached, He noted that the red-haired knight was indeed in the inn, verifying her existence, he turned to approach her. He hadn't remembered her whole name, but he knew two syllables of it. It was something else he had remembered on his own without being told by someone else. Not sure if his thoughts were betraying him, he moved cautiously and lightly placed two fingers on the girl's left shoulder. "Ms... Alta...Altara? Is that your name?" Kazu was clearly puzzled about why this person's name came to him so quickly after just catching a glimpse of her. It couldn't be her name though, could it? At this moment, he felt so foolish, and began to turn away. "I... I'm sorry. That can't be your name. It's my mind playing tricks on me. heh..." He began to walk away from her towards Tollun's group with a nervous laugh in his voice.

Syn watched carefully for any signs Remeil, passing in and out of ally ways doing her best not to be seen. Unfortunately the rain made it difficult for her to keep stealth, the constant sound of her feet against the wet ground annoyed her greatly.

Stopping in her tracks as she arrived in front of what she assumed was a inn called 'The Minstrel's Mug'. Slowly inching her way up to the door and peering inside."Excellent..." a delightful smile moved across her face as she saw her prey. "Remeil I found you." The slumbering form of Remeil sat at the end of the inn surrounded by people. "Looks like the poison is still in his system. Well that's no fun." Rather than attacking him right out a twisted plot came to mind. Working her way to the group, she made he way to a neko setting next to Remeil. "Excuse me but is t-that Remeil. Oh I do believe it is." a blush appeared as she said his name.

At long last, a crippled dwarf woman appeared from behind the bar, apologizing for the clerk's inability to answer and started detailing the rooms available.

And there was some mention of redecorating...strange. Now that she thought of it, while Altara had seen the inn was still named the Minstrel's Mug, and the face of this half dwarf seemed ever slightly familiar, some other details in this inn felt a little...off. Not that she could distinctively remember what they used to be like, though.

"...I suppose I'll take a private room.Keep the change if you want," she finally managed, fishing out a single gold coin and handing it to the crippled half dwarf. Of course, her relinquishing of the change was less an act of goodwill and more of her wanting to just get to bed as soon as possible. Taking the key to one of the private rooms, she was about to leave, when...

Two fingers landed upon her left shoulder plate--without much force, but hard enough to get the red-haired knight's attention. There was a young person with long, flowing black hair staring at her with an unsure expression. "Ms...Alta...Altara?" a quiet voice uttered, from that person's lips.

Wait...what?!

As Altara watched with a stunned expression, too startled to respond, this person suddenly turned away, looking embarrassed. "I... I'm sorry. That can't be your name. It's my mind playing tricks on me. Heh..." With that, the strange black-haired person started walking away, towards the half-dragon's group.

Staring after the flowing black locks for a while, Altara felt even more confused. This person...she knew my name! Then, wait...does she know anything else about me? Anything that happened before...

...that was a boy.

That completely irrelevant, almost offhanded thought popped into Altara's mind without warning, and scattered her thought process even further. Wait, how did I know that?! I've never seen this person before...well...I don't remember meeting him, anyway! Just who is he?! And...who am I?!!

Her own left hand, clad in silver armor, reached out and caught the black-haired boy on the shoulder. "Wait," she commanded. "This is our first meeting, isn't it? And yet, how do you know my name?" A note of desperation began to enter her voice, and whoever just walked into the inn completely phased past Altara's awareness. "Does this mean...you know something about what happened before I lost all my memories?"

A delicate grin graced Scarlet's lips as she was given permission to pet the kittygirl's tail. Scarlet loved animals more than anything in the world (or at least she thinks she does.) and the girls soft talk was so intriguing. As she continued to pet the girls tail, she noticed her somewhat strange hairstyle wasn't actually all hair and that in fact, she had cat ears as well as the tail. It almost seemed that Cardista was a cure for her shyness and the key to at least one memory. She could "remember" being a small girl, playing on the floor of a tavern when a man walked in with a small crate. He looked at Scarlet and smiled before setting the crate down and lifting a small black kitten with a white crescent moon on it's chest out of it. The man handed her the kitten and told her to take good care of it. She set the playful kitten down and began petting her before calling her by her new name for the first time. "Luna". Just then, she remembered where she was and noticed that she had started lightly brushing her fingers through Cardista's hair at some point in her memory. "I, I'm so sorry Ma'am. I didn't mean to mess up your hair or anything" Right after Scarlet said this, another young woman walked into the inn and came directly to the table she was at and began asking about the man with his head on the table. Scarlet almost instantly had a bad feeling about this person, but couldn't understand why.

Kazu's eyes widened. So he had remembered the red-haired knight. He turned around to quickly face her, the surprise still evident on his face. He felt as though, he couldn't even remember how to speak at this moment, but he pushed past that feeling. "N-No, we've met before, I think... I can't really remember, but I knew your name when I saw you in the street. And there was another woman as well. She was in blue cloth robes, and a man in a white shirt with a brown leather vest and pants. He had a sword on his hip, and... and.. uh... his name was... it was... It started with an 'E'!" The memory had began coming back to him more vividly than before, but it started to fade away. "The four of us... we were all inside of a cavern or a tunnel of some sort and we were fighting together... but after that... I can't remember." The Twin Blade shut his eyes tightly, trying to make the memory come back, but his mind bare no fruit as the memory faded. "D... Do you know who either of those other people were? If... If we can find them, then maybe they can help us..."

Edvisg

After fishing the girl out the correct change, she turned all her attention to the half dragon. Placing her hands on her rounded hips she grinned brightly up at him. "Are you a welcomed sight for my one good eye!" She wasn't afraid to make sure of her battle scars to her they were like he own badges of courage and sweet reminders of the exciting life she once lived. She shot a look over to her employee Kern, snapping her finger to try to wake the blonde beautiful man out of his gaze. He normally had a look confusion on his face, not being the brightest one, but he was a hard worker and seemed to remember how to pour drinks, though him making change frightened the hell of Edvisg. "You need to stop all this daydreaming love and go see what these kind folks would like to drink..." She sighed shaking her head some as she watch him make way over the party's table to take there orders. She return all attentions to her old acquaintance. "So Tollun, I'm glad to see you not in chains my friend. Are you here for rest and relaxation, a place to hang low, or maybe I can get you something to eat and drink. Whatever you need is on the house dear. Or maybe to you just missed looking at my lovely self?" She laughed jokingly.

Kern

The giant of a young man standing near 7 foot tall came up to the table making a mental note of all the faces one by one. His blonde bowl cut hair seemed to get in the way of his soft green eyes, blowing upward some before sweeping it out of the way. His clothing looks of good quality but not tailored properly to his lengthy form, the sleeves of his dark brown tunic cut off several inches before his wrists, and his black pants looked as though he had known the rain was coming and was perpared to wade through a flooded street. He offered the table a goofy smile before speaking, "Welcome one and all to the infamous..."
(Edvisg chimed in, " No, no, no darling! it's the FAMOUS...")"Sorry ma'am...The Famous Minstrel's Mug. Best food and drink in all of Brainde! How may I offer my humble assistance to you all this evening?!" It was clear to see the dwarven woman must of had him rehearse this sh-peel quite ofter, by all the pausing and over exaggeration in his tone as he spoke. That and the small fist pump he seemed to give think he nailed it. He waited patiently waiting for everyone to tell him their orders. One thing he had ease with remembering for a short time at least was orders.

Whatever was happening, it seemed the black-haired boy was just as confused as she was--he somehow did know her name, and he remembered he met her, yet everything else was foggy for both of them...

But something bothered Altara even more--he had mentioned a girl in blue robes had been present at their meeting. Could it be...that same girl I always keep dreaming up?! Then...she's not just a hallucination! But if that's the case, who is she?!

Her teeth clenched in frustration at all the questions that kept popping up without end, but she managed to refrain from losing her calm altogether. Searching her mind futilely for the story this boy just told her, she couldn't find anything close to it. "...I can't remember any of what you just said," she replied quietly. "I still don't recognize you, and I don't remember being in a cave with you or that man you mentioned. But..."

Glancing around a bit as though she were worried someone would hear, the red-haired knight pulled him closer (a bit too forcefully) and whispered quietly, "There's someone I keep seeing everywhere around me. When I'm walking, in my dreams, anywhere. And she was dressed in blue robes, just like that girl you mentioned. Until now, I thought she was only a weird fantasy, but...you've seen her too, and you...knew my name, so that must mean..."

She couldn't find the right words to continue, and with a shaking lip, ended up gently releasing him. "Never mind...now I'm probably the one sounding like a lunatic at this point," she muttered, feeling the rest of her emotional drive vaporize.

Cardista coed back softly to the young girl, having always enjoyed her hair being played with or ears stroked a lot like the animal she shared so many features to. "No harm done!" If anything it reminded her of a person she used to travel with, at least she thought it did having quite fuzzy memories herself...a man, not a lover or even a particularly kind man, but not a slave owner like the others seemed to of had. She would accompany him on small quest and aid in carrying his spoils back to town to sale. If she had performed a good job he would always give her a scratch behind the ears... or a kiss on the forehead. If she did badly he would lash out violently smacking her on the head and pull her tail...maybe...If it had be real or a dream she wasn't all too sure at the moment. Either way she was enjoying her current companions. She gave Remeil another small poke this time to the forehead, before petting his hair once more, lost in thought. Maybe because she liked the feel that's why she continued to do it to him every so often. He may find it comforting too.

Lost in thought she almost jumped up from her seat being startled by the unexpected female saying his name. Cardista looked up at her giving her an appraisal with those blue and green eyes, studying the way she carried herself. Maybe she was a friend or ally of Remeils. Maybe she was a past lover the way she blushed when she spoke his name. She looked too finely dressed to be a fellow slave. She bit at her lips some as she tried hard to come up with a polite answer not wanting to come off catty if Syn really was a friend of his.
"Who are you to my friend here?" Card scooted her chair closer to her friend, giving his shoulder a rather rough shake, not being able to get a clear feel from this strange woman. Thinking over and over please...please wake up. She motioned briefly to the awkward tall man one moment as she continued her attempt to wake her exhausted friend. "Please wake now, Remeil...You need food. Also you have a lady friend here..."
