The White Knight

"I do this for a reason that they can't pretend to glean. I lose myself infused in something more than what they've seen."

a character in “Apollo's Colosseum”, originally authored by VivaVictoria, as played by RolePlayGateway

Description

The White Knight

"The people look up to me like I'm some kind of hero, in reality, but a hero can be anyone really. A hero is someone has the intent on making the world a better place. Some days I do not believe I can do even that, all I want is people to see that death is no game. That every soul that is slaughtered in the arena could be someone's mother or father, someone's brother or sister, or someone's child. "

Theme Song: Dream- Imagine Dragons||Fairly Local-Twenty-one Pilots||The Way-Zack Hemsey||

Full Name: Kadir Zinc
Arena Title: The White Knight
Age: 46
Gender: Male

Team: White Knight
Class: Expert Gladiator

Positive Traits:
Admirable- Kadir is the type of man to be looked up to, he has lionhearted and merciful aura that follows him. He is the complete different man than from when he was Cataclysm. Cataclysm was after self-pleasures, how could he have contributed the better for himself. Kadir saw where that road took him, he should of taken the first warning when his wife threatened to leave him he refused to give up the fight. But no, his last mistake was one he could never forget, for it is never right for a father to bury his own child.

Aspiring- Though Kadir is already seen as a hero especially by those of his team, he always directs his heart and hopes to improving his character each day. Some cannot see how it is possible however for a man with such perfect behavior, but Kadir knows that his past reveals his something far behind perfect.

Alethic- For a man to be forty-six, Kadir is considered extremely alethic, well he has to be and also knowing the fact that he once was the legendary Cataclysm, and that that legend still remains inside. He is a strong man, but not a muscle chunk of meat type of guy, no he knows he is not nearly as buff as he once was as Cataclysm he spent so many years trying to run away from his past, when one day he decided that perhaps he should not retreat and scurry in cowardice from his sins but find someway to end the madness that runs in the Colosseum. Thus he had no choice but to kick himself back into his physical training routines.

Benevolent- No one can ever ignore the big and bright kindness stitched deeply in the man's heart. Not one mate in his team can help but feel a warmness inside of the man, he shares he type of company a devoted father gives to his children.

Calm- Kadir is never the man to panic or to burst into anger, and even if others may do so to him, he never allows his feathers to be ruffled. He is the type guy you could tell anything and not have him freak out. But if someone were to make him upset, he rather keeps quiet, and it really does show.

Challenging- Kadir likes to help his team members to strengthen their skills thus he pushes them, giving challenges but also making it fun. He never trains his people to the point of abuse, he believes all people have their limits. However there is always need for improvement.

Charismatic- Kadir is talking, out-going, and friendly. He has always been an open man, one who likes good talks, even before when he was Cataclysm.

Compassionate- He has a care and concern for everyone, even those on Apollo's team, he never can drive himself to hate anyone. He believes everyone deserves love and the more messed up someone shows that perhaps they were given the absence of it. He mentors and teaches his team members that they do not know what occurs in their enemies' lives, that they too are definitely humans. There is no point in fighting fire with fire.

Daring- Kadir is brave, courageous, there is no doubt of that, he challenge Apollo himself, he was the one who started the whole games in the first place. But Kadir knows or more like, feels, as if his purpose in life is to make a difference to put an end to this mindset that death is some kind of game.

Disciplined- It took years of training to whipped an image of a legend he is today, and no he doesn't regret all the years he trained himself, the only thing he does wonder is if he could of done better. However plenty believe there is nothing else he could of done. The only thing Kadir hopes know is that he doesn't push his people to hard, and he promises himself never to, but he also wishes to built a steel discipline inside of them.

Good-natured- A hero, it is what anyone would describe him as. Sure he is still man, he has his scars, his sins, but in the end he finds someway to cling to what is pure. However Kadir does not see justice, he see something greater, he searches for mercy instead.

Negative Traits:

Overly Protective- This occurs especially to his rookie gladiator, he just does not want to face another death, feeling as if he is responsible for it. Everyday he wakes up regretting he challenge, knowing that he has lives on the line, but sometimes life takes sacrifices in order to save so much more. But the question is, is Kadir willing to accept the sacrifices, is he mental prepared?

Tormented by his mistakes- Kadir is a man seen close to perfect, but he knows inside he is far from it. He does not only bottle up his feelings, but he tries to conceal his past. He tormented by nightmares of his daughter's death replaying in his mind, wishing he could do something. He has considered to track that who controlled the mech responsible for her death, but he was assured that even if he gained his revenge, he still would not be happy. For vengeance can only go so far, it cannot bring Adelina back.

Nags- He does scold his teammates, but that is where the father inside of him comes out, and the reason why he nags is because he knows the challenge is serious, lives are on the line and he does not want lose a single one of his friends

Workaholic- compulsively works hard to the point he could pass out from exhaustion

Fears: Letting any of his team members die||Watching anyone burn to death||His own past||Sleeping at night

Likes: His team||Children||Hot stews||Making others happy||Listening to music||Juggling||Gambling||Hugs
Dislikes: ||The shame that he tries to hide inside||Death for entertainment||Rain||Sweets & Sugar
Dreams/Goals: To defeat Apollo's team and put an end to the death matches||To somehow find a peace of mind one day

Tattoos/Markings/Scars: Back when he was the superstar that he was as Cataclysm he has his plethora of tattoos stacks on his arms, but nothing significant, things like retro inks of circuits and shapes, but he usually covers them up, not because he is shape of what they simply are but he knows he is getting old and the once smooth skin of his is now folding its wrinkles. But the only scar lays faded and over his left eye from when he was first starting in the gladiator business.

Weight: 175
Height: 6'3
Brief Appearance Description: Kadir is not quite extremely pale but more likely has a mildly white tone. He has a hazel color in the strains of his nicely cut hair with a beard that reaches his cheeks to jaw in a thick manner. He has an eye color of a nice green with a slight hint of brown. Kadir wears not the best armor, well in fact he dug up the white armor from a junkyard stored with the dumped out armor from the Colosseum. The stains of mud can still be seen in a fade against his armor, but Kadir makes it work. Well, he has to, he burned all of his legendary Cataclysm armor. But at least the armor gives him a new name, The White Knight.

Carrying/Weapons/Equipment: But not only is he called the White Knight because of his armor but because of his engery sword. It was something he did not think of much at first, in fact he won it from a gamble and felt rather displeased when getting it. But his opponent promised that it was a killer, and because Kadir did not want to spring into an argument he agreed to take it. But Kadir did finally give it a chance and he was rather impress. But during ranged battles he uses, the gun given by his father, its an older model, but it is at least something that gives Kadir good memories for once.
Strength/Abilities/Talents: Precision||Well-rounded||Stamina||Great teacher||Good Friend||Great Gambler||Swordsmen
Weakness: Tormented by his past||Cannot forgive himself||Depressed but hides it||

History:

Childhood

Kadir was born into what seemed at first to be a happy family, his father was a military man and his mother was a nurse. They lived in the nicer of cyberpunk cities, a lovely home, a family-friendly neighborhood. Everything seemed to be an almost unrealistic life for the family due to the constant peace that once believed they were going to receive. But later did Kadir's father, Koba, die on service. However if only things could get worse they did, Kadir's mother, Veda, during the time when Koba was gone, she was cheating on him with wealthy gangster, they called him Domino. He urged Veda to move in with him in Crypt city, he persuaded her that she would love the bright lights, the glitz and glamour type lifestyle, and she believed him. But when the arrived, Domino was not as rich as he once claimed, in fact they were living in the slums and Domino was in debt to the gangs. And Veda knew if Domino did not repay them then the gangs could possibly kill her, thus she sold her son into the gladiator business an Kadir never heard of them again.

Cataclysm

For so many years Kadir was furious with his mother, with everything that had happened to him, he was now a slave forced to kill in order to entertain. At first he did indeed hate it, but soon he enjoyed the victory, the glory, and he was well aware that he was good at it. Soon enough he became a superstar and he was surprised that his mother did not come around and claim that Cataclysm was her son. It is not like Kadir would even let her use him anyways, well not anymore. But everyone knows the sad tale of what killed Cataclysm it first started with the divorce with his wife and then the death of his daughter. But from that sorrow later came a hero...

The White Knight

The White Knight arose, the spectators who attended his first arrival was giving quite the startle and scared for they were curtained that Kadir Zinc was dead. Yes, Cataclysm was done for, but the White Knight had just been born, and he has brought with his a challenge Apollo could not refuse. It is what started all of the games, and it has the money flowing into Apollo's pockets, just what he wanted. And Kadir hopes to get what he wants, his chance to change the world, to prove a point, and to somehow make up for what he once was.

So begins...

Chapter 1
The Day Before Dawn

The White Knight

Kadir Zinc stood as he studied with attention as he studied Lelah Piaget's every move, he had to, and he knew it. For practice put in today would reveal in the performance tomorrow. But Kadir would not be fond to call a slaughter, performance, no a performance is a show, and no matter how famed the matches were, Kadir would never be one to see death as a means of entertainment. And Kadir also would never take today's training light, especially in Lelah's perspective. Kadir was being difficult today, but that was only because he bore mountains of pressure against his shoulders, and he was not going to set her up for failure, because he knew what the prize was for a loser in Apollo's Colosseum, Adelina showed him that.

And Kadir cared about Lelah, though he really did just meet her the day before. But why? She of course reminded him heavily of his own daughter, so much hope, and the hunger for adrenaline inside of her. Kadir could tell Lelah wanted the rush and excitement of being a gladiator, it was the reason why she joined him. And Kadir just could not say no, though he found many flaws with her techniques, he knew she would continue with her life, Kadir just did not want to know how many matches it would take to finally end it, and he did not want that to happen for the young girl.

"No, that's going to get you killed, Lelah," Kadir instructed her. "You're form is too jumpy, and attacks, unpredictable to the point of insanity. It is good strike at your character's off-guard moments, but with moves that random you might be only hurting yourself. You need a more organized method of fighting, and... slow things down, you’re getting to ahead of yourself not executing critical hits." Kadir was working with her on close-combat, and so far he was winning, of course. He gave her his hand to pull her off the ground he knocked her to.

Kadir glanced at the clock against the wall of the room, he needed to make a phone call, Kadir was getting doubtful that she was coming. "Listen, Lelah, keep practicing I have to step out-- Here, I have someone you need to meet. I was going to introduce after practice, but here, he can help, he's good at that."

Kadir rushed to the target practicing room where he found Augustus Zephyr, "August, you remember the rookie I dueled yesterday, Lelah Piaget, also known as Skuld Well, she's in the team, and I want you train with her while I step out and make some contacts." Kadir now in a whisper, because Kadir didn't want Lelah to get offended, "Go easy on her, remember she's a rookie, not like you, and an amateur, to tell the truth." Kadir started to walk away but stopped, turning another to say one last thing, "Oh and, don't hurt her, I mean it, she has to be ready for tomorrow's match. Walk her through some of your moves, maybe. Just not a scratch."

Kadir dialed his phone for Lucy, she was the only teammate missing, he was afraid she was never going to show up until a "woosh" swept the streets and in she came and arrived in a heartbeat. She was not called, Lighting Lucy for no reason. "I was almost afraid you would never come," Kadir confessed, because really there was not much purpose for her to come to the gym other than to greet the other fellow teammates, because like the bot battler, they would not belong in a building for gladiators, but Kaidr knew if they were going to work like a team then they had to start by getting to know each other. "You wouldn't ever miss out on meeting some new friendly faces, would you?" Kadir spoke scarcastically, which was as rare thing he did, but it was true, and Lucy knew it, she was never the one to be sympathetic to others, she was selfish, and greedy. She would have not even joined the team if Kadir did not press her to feel as if she had a debt to repay him. But if we are going to work like a team, we have to be able to trust each other. United we rise, divided we fall. Are you willing to do that, Lucy?"

Beatrix Phoenix

Bullet after bullet Beatrix hammered through the dummies' skull. Beatrix was a legend in the making, and she knew it. Like all the other champions chosen by Apollo to competing in his little game, she was undefeated, but what made her special what that she never missed, her accuracy was golden, especially to a blind woman. Skills so perfected, she grew boredom from practice, and often abandoned it after the continuous streak of head shots became monotonous. She enclosed her guns into the hostlers strapped to her pants before marching over to the pull-up bar where she then concreted on her upper-body strength.

As she hoisted herself up the bar, constantly strengthening her arm muscles. She felt a roll of sweat form as she was working out, giving it all she got, as she fiercely stormed her body over the pole. She pushed harder and harder as she repeatedly thought of her sister Lily, and her power-hungry bastard of a step-father. Thinking of Bentley just formed a burning inferno within that never stopped to cease to surround her ever being. This, is what she assumed that caused all the grumpiness and fur inside of her, she let her mind wander into the dark and sufferable of her life. She was going to fight like hell before letting that man even lay a finger on that girl.

And after Beatrix had worked out her body and skills, she decided it was time for a drink. Well, she always had a strong liking for all alcohol in general. She had already been training in Apollo's VIP training grounds, he reserved it entirely for his teammates. Funny how he referred to them as teammates, a team he had no part in other than to watch their, his opponents crumble in defeat. He could have had the White Knight dead by now if so really wished, but no Apollo wanted the cash to start flowing. There would be crowds wanting to see the returning legend fight, but who can blame them the White Knight has been missing for five years, and all of sudden he returned. But as for Beatrix she made her way to the lounge where she would find herself a seat at the bar.

As Beatrix was dumping another shot in, she sensed and heard footsteps entering the room. Beatrix was always very sensitive to people's footsteps, entirely because she was blind and that was one of the ways she could identify a person, it was Rook Palmer, she could tell, she already knew about the rook who was doing his best to rise in the ranks, for the glory and fame. But Beatrix hated how he was too cocky, too confident, and too proud. And she would be deeply angry with him if he lost the match tomorrow, she could not allow team White Knight to gain a single point. She could not allow them to win, Apollo would kill them, or worse, sell them into slavery. And Beatrix knew she had to be there for Lily. So noticing Rook was in the lounge rather did annoy her, believing that he should be practicing and not in the lounge where the main goal in a lounge is to relax.

But she remained silent knowing that she already has plenty of enemies and doesn’t need to create anymore, especially with her own teammates. Though she has heard of Rook, believe it or not, the rookie has raised some eyebrows, but he was not picked by Apollo for nothing. And Beatrix knows he looks to talk, he was a charismatic fellow, and she was more of a quiet girl. She just hoped he was not coming around to make a conversation or anything.

Lucille "Lucy" Archer

Castor by Daft Punk

Lucy stretched her ankles, rotating them slowly as she prepped herself for the run that would take place. She'd warmed up with some light jogging beforehand but here would separate the good racers and the great ones. Unlike most racers Lucy took pride in her personal fitness more than that of her machine, keeping light as light on her feet as her vehicle did on its wheels. Granted, she didn't train with anyone else around (she disliked the "other people" aspect of the gym) but because Apollo reserved certain areas only for his team she had to make due with what was given. That meant taking on the role of the cocky bitch who allegedly outraced the vehicles of others even if it wasn't true. One could call her speed inhuman sure, but she relied on her rust bucket like everyone else.

After the run she showered and went back to the racer's garage, deciding to tune up her vehicle. She heard whispers of other gladiators: half on the astonishment that she dare showed her arms and half on the upcoming competition. Indeed, she would be against Apollo's best and that meant she needed to live up to the hype that everyone created around the ever mysterious "Lightning Lucy." She hated the cheesy nickname and would have liked sticking with simply "Lucille" but supposed that it didn't roll off the tongue the same way. The fans wanted something recognizable yet enigmatic. That's why some still followed her. They wanted the chance to see her face.

Only one person in the arena had ever seen her face and currently he was ringing for her.

The White Knight.

She arrived in a split second, meeting his gaze with her visor. As usual, he rambled not about the important things but about the team and how important it was for her to be one with the team, trust them, all sorts of bullshit she'd learned in sports. While the words were nothing more than platitudes the concern was not without merit. Lucy knew as well as the others how selfish she could be so the speech acted as extra insurance (not that he needed any).

"You that I am a woman of principle," she replied, expression unreadable, "so long as I'm still handing reparations I have no reason to breed doubt."

She locked her vehicle and entered the gym, turning to her team's leader.

"I could even teach that rookie a thing or two given enough time."

The White Knight

"You know that I am a woman of principle, so long as I'm still handing reparations I have no reason to breed doubt."

Kadir rose his eyebrow as he looked over to Lucy with a toothless smile, "Oh? I guess some people never change." Payments, that was how Lucy dealt with things, and Kadir knew it. Too bad, that all winnings go to him first, he was team captain, of course. But if a victor did win on his side, he would give them their reward, and he gets his own separate payment for being leader, but it was a small amount to dwell on, but enough for him to spend fueling his secret drug addiction.

"I could even teach that rookie a thing or two given enough time."

Kadir sighed entering the gym with Lucy, "I just hope I'm not leading her to her death..." Kadir got extremely quiet for a minute, he was reflecting on his past, his mistake with Adelina, something he could never forgive himself for, a memory his mind could never erase. Yes, it was the reason why he concluded to drugs, not that has yet punctured the injection through his neck to numb all attachment to his hippocampus region of his brain, thus he could sleep and spare the nightmares that paints itself vividly in the night. "But now, is not the time to look upon the depressive. Today is a new day, a new movement, and I will put an end to Apollo's bloody-thirsty appetite."

The Colosseum at first was seen as a stadium, a playing field for the sport of dueling. And though Cataclysm did not see it, the White Knight does, the Colosseum, its nothing but a slaughterhouse. The public draws to be no audience for non-lethal battle, reason why such rounds are rare and almost extinct. Duels without the blood and death only now happen once in a life time.

"However, now you could meet my bot battler." Kadir was a friendly man, he had a warm spirit amongst him, however those who are cold-bloodied have more of a disconnection, and even dislike towards the man for so. Kadir is good-natured, some call him hero, though the title for himself, is a hard pill to sallow. A hero doesn't kill his daughter, and though it was not Kadir in the mech that crushed her body, it sure felt that way for him, heart heavy with burdens that he believed he could never break from his spirit. "I have not spoken to him much yet, I was working with the rookie. He's a robot, actually, an IMIT, unit eight."

Kadir walked with Lucy, leading her to a rest room in the gym where he spotted the machine, "Hello Eight," greeted the bot politely. "This is Lighti--" Kadir stopped himself, remembering Lucy's distaste in her cheesy title. "I mean, Lucy. This is Lucy."

Small, dull lenses lowered themselves over the frail ocular sensors of the machine as the phased plasma flame ignited from the welder, superheated gas rushing through tubes hidden under the machine's metal skin to shriek out and weld together a tungsten plate and the composite armour beneath.

Eight was busy refurbishing the behemoth that stood parked in the White Knight garage.

He had discovered the old Ion-class war mech in a scrapyard nary two weeks ago; it had been a bullet-riddled, defunct piece of scrap. The last war major enough to involve Ion-classes was over three decades ago, in the United Scandinavian Federation's brief yet horrific skirmish with the Arctic States, and many Ion-classes were decommissioned on those icy battlefields. Eight had gotten his manipulator hands on one of them, and with a bit of funding from sponsors and all the technical knowledge, he had steadily worked at improving it and putting it back in actionable condition.

Now, the Ion-class, which Eight was considering names for, was in just about enough condition to walk, but nowhere near close to combat capable.

Luckily, the NCRS spray was tending to that, and now the little nanobots were very slowly replicating on the molecular scale the first piece of the cockpit and the interior: the control panel.

Eight finished reattaching the metal plate, rising from his crouched position as the automatic welding lenses flipped up again to leave a clear view. He briefly admired his work, the slow and invisible work of the NCRS gel casting a faint blue glow on his face, and he hopped down from his position onto the hangar floor.

It was then that he was suddenly aware of an extra two presences in the room. One was a somewhat nondescript woman (Eight remembered her as the racer of the team; or did he just believe he remembered because it was being said now?) and the other was the "boss."

The White Knight. A commendable figure, surely, but Eight did not concern himself too much with his motives. His objective was parallel to Eight's; he was simply the one Eight was attached to. Nothing more, nothing less.

And while Eight hadn't been overly social yet, it seems the Knight was trying to change this.

"My greetings," Eight offered with a slight wave of his right arm. "It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Lucy. While our trades of choice may be quite different, what with your, ah... finesseful speed and my usage of maximum force forward, I am looking forward to a good working relationship." Part of the base programming of all the IMIT units was relatability; a robot was far more trustworthy if it spoke like a human, even if there was only cold silicon logic beneath.

Lelah Piaget liked Kadir, it was probably more than like. She admired him and appreciated what he had done for her, if it wasn’t for his character she would most likely be dead by now. It was the first time she lost, probably because it was the first time she had participated against someone who was in a different league than her. She wasn’t surprised that she had lost that fight, but at that time she was surprised that she were still alive. What had surprised her even more was the fact that she had been allowed to join his team, but it made her feel glad, she wanted to give him something back for the fact that he hadn’t decided to kill her.

But even if Lelah thought so highly of Kadir she could still get slightly annoyed at him. Mainly because she was getting tired and therefor grumpy. She understood why he wanted her to train and she was thankful for him trying to help her. His directions did make her think through all she thought she knew, she herself didn’t think she was that bad. Mainly because she didn’t do close combat, it was something hard to practice by yourself. Sure, she had tried and looked closely on how others did it, but it was still not the same thing as training together with someone.

Being pushed down to the ground once again just made her feel even more grumpy, even if he told her what she had done wrong and tried to give her directions. But she was exhausted after being put through such prolonged training section. First she was thinking about no getting up at all, just lie there and stare up at the ceiling. Taking a small brake, but as he reached out his hand towards her she took it with a small sigh. Getting up again to just get knocked down again before she knew what was happening.

"Listen, Lelah, keep practicing I have to step out-- Here, I have someone you need to meet. I was going to introduce after practice, but here, he can help, he's good at that."

Lelah watched as Kadir left the room, she followed him but dragged her feet’s after her. Sure, it sounded great to get to know the other ones on the team but she wanted a break. She wanted one badly and it didn’t seem like she would be allowed to get one at all. Truthfully, she had a hard time figuring out why all this practice was necessary. It helped. But in the end, she needed to be rested tomorrow as well to be able to perform. If these people would push her all day there was no chance that she would be able to participate tomorrow. She would be in pain after getting hit by much better gladiators and exhausted.

"August, you remember the rookie I dueled yesterday, Lelah Piaget, also known as Skuld. Well, she's in the team, and I want you train with her while I step out and make some contacts."

Lelah quietly watched the two men without changing expression, even after noticing Kadir whispering something else after the introduction. Even if she hadn’t heard what he had said, she could pretty much guess what it was. She was unaware of it herself but as the whispering took place her mouth twitched, not much but just slightly. It was mainly because she felt offended, that two who had been able to practice was talking about her. When Kadir left she looked over at the younger one again, “Nice to meet you.”

Lucille "Lucy" Archer

Castor by Daft Punk

Lucy smiled, malicious satisfaction and smugness-free as she met the White Knight's eyes with her own (although she doubted he could tell).

"Her choice to enter the arena was her own," she replied noting the sudden quiet in his voice, "she's not like Apollo's lapdogs."

She understood the intent behind White Knight's worries but she felt that the White Knight's anger toward Adelina's death was being misplaced. Gladiatorial arenas were made for death matches because that was the only time when humans were truly pushed to their limits. Nothing else kicked in the survival instinct. Racers certainly didn't face the same sort of fear, but the penalty was all the same. The only difference was that they used vehicles to carry out their will rather than their bodies. The same was true for Bot Battlers, although Racers needed to be more cunning with their fight. It wasn't as simple as clashing head to head, they also had to clock in laps, vehicle damage, and time. If they were too slow they could be killed. If they were too concentrated on survival or fighting they would fall behind.

When they arrived at the hanger she raised an eyebrow at the strange device, rather robot, who stood in front of them. From his singular eye (or perhaps it was one big eye with two small ones?) he acted very rigid as if he was trying to read her for a reaction. Certainly she expected something like this from White Knight if only because that was how things usually went with a ragtag group. He must have been a fighting unit of some sort because his plating wasn't fragile plastic like consumer robots or silicone like companion which meant he was either for factory or combat.

"My greetings, it is a pleasure to make your acquaintance, Ms. Lucy. While our trades of choice may be quite different, what with your, ah... finesseful speed and my usage of maximum force forward, I am looking forward to a good working relationship."

Lucy raised a brow. So he spoke. She'd heard of robots being modified for basic speech functions but most of the time fighters only spoke with expletives or trash talk. This robot's AI was much more...advanced than she expected even if his diction felt awkward.

"The word you're looking for is alacrity," she answered as she took his hand, "but it's a pleasure to meet you too."

Eight's optics twitched with readjustment. With his initial programming had come detection of speech patterns; this woman was displaying hints of surprise, if deeply buried.

The speech-pattern analysis, along with his other noncombatant functions, had decayed somewhat lately. Even though Dr. Renarke's stripping of Eight's plastic plating and replacement with metal was a physical transformation, it felt like rebirth; a destiny into darkness. Eight was no longer to be a friend to someone of deteriorating mental state, but to be a destroyer of men and machine alike.

Much like the Ion, he was reborn for a different purpose.

Phoenix. Phoenix, Eight decided, would be the Ion unit's new name.

He snapped back to reality.

"I suppose we shall have to borrow supplies at times," Eight said to Lucille, injecting small hints of humorous intonation into his voice. "You are in the nearby hangar, yes?"

At that point Palmer came back in with another comment defending himself, but it didn't stop Damian from catching Phoenix's comment about bot battles. Not everyone respected bot battles or the races due to the fact that they were performed by machine, but he strongly disagreed. How was it different than two brutes beating each other with stones? They all had the same goal, but simply different objectives. If they knew how much his body needed to train and endure, to actually use his augments in combat they might be more understanding but likely still pricks. Bot battling didn't consist of lowly button mashers. They suited up for the sake of pushing beyond human limits.

"Brave you may be, but you don't seem to know anything about my craft nor my circumstances," he sighed as his third arm reached to help him rub a temple, "but we aren't here to talk about me. We're here because we're all part of the same team."

"Bitching and tossing around insults isn't going to get you any friends and despite what you may think, trying to put us down doesn't make you any better. You step into the arena alone. Its all you and nothing to do with us. Heck, its better to have people on your side."

No matter what Phoenix wasn't up to talking, even if to pretend that she enjoyed the company of others and he wasn't going to make her talk. Palmer, at least, agreed with him about having a good team environment. His expression remained unchanged, but he retracted his arm.

Lucille "Lucy" Archer

At this robot had a sense of humor. She hadn't expected him to be human in his speech but the creativity (so to speak) in forming new words meant that he had some form of adaptability. He would do well on the battlefield, even if his opponent was human on the inside.

"Always am," she answered, "we don't have a fancy hanger here like Apollo's crew but I've managed pretty well. I even retooled my old motorbike to the racer cycle I have now."

She picked up a wrench before turning to The White Knight.

"So where are the others?" she asked, "are two gladiators still training or wee you planning on having only me and the robot meet?"

The White Knight

"So where are the others? Are two gladiators still training or wee you planning on having only me and the robot meet?"

"Wow, Lucy, it seems so unlike you to be wanting to meet others," the White Knight spoke sarcastically. "But if you are so excited, then I see I must. Follow me." Kadir led Lucy inside of the gym, and walked his way to Lelah and August. Kadir knew it was about time to give Lelah a break, even if it would be a small one, but he was curtained that she truly wished and yearned for one.

He walked in to see the two, "Hello, I have another member of the team, you may recognize her. You can just call her Lucy." Kadir was happy to see his team was going pretty smoothly, but perhaps he was very optimistic, it had not even been an hour, and he believed things were turning up good. Well, that is probably better than always looking on the downside of things.

Beatrix Phoenix

"I know I'm good and what you think isn't going to convince me otherwise. I would think you ought to be the one to trade in your attitude."

Beatrix had only shrugged, only feeling bad due to the fact that her comments did not drive him away, but instead cause more commotion by dragging the Inquisitor bickering. She dumped shot in, trying to enjoy her drink, trying to focus on herself rather than the conversation with Rook, though she did continue to pull herself back in, not holding back on those snappish comments.

She heard Rook continue to say, "Bitching and tossing around insults isn't going to get you any friends and despite what you may think, trying to put us down doesn't make you any better. You step into the arena alone. Its all you and nothing to do with us. Heck, its better to have people on your side."

And then the Inquisitor, "Brave you may be, but you don't seem to know anything about my craft nor my circumstances, but we aren't here to talk about me. We're here because we're all part of the same team."

They both spoke of this so-called "teamwork", Beatrix had a distaste for it. No, she could not trust anyone, she could not even trust her own mother, why should she trust this strangers? For all she knows, they could be traitors, or she may only be paranoid, stubborn, and arrogant to only hold concern and care to her own beliefs, ideas, and assumptions.

"Team? Working together?" she questioned. "Have you forgotten who you work for? If you care about camaraderie you should sign up for the White Knight's team, I think he needs a waterboy. But actually, too bad, we're owned by Apollo, greedy vulgarian, if his team loses..." Beatrix paused, she didn't want to think of it, because she knew exactly what would happen, and she would not be the only person suffering from the defeat. And she was not going to allow Bentley to sell Lily into slavery, but she also knew she would not have any chance nor time to save her in they were not victors. So in fact, they were working as a team, but Beatrix was too stubborn to face the facts.

"Look, we are technically a team, but don't think we are friends. Since when this city, this world, crawl itself out of hell." Beatrix got quieter, "No, I'm still figuring out why I'm still burning, why anyone would deserve a life like this." Beatrix drank her last and walked her way out of the lounge, "You know what, I'm out." Of course she did not mean she was out of the team or any crazy nonsense like that, but that she was leaving the lounge, where Beatrix attempted to storm into the training room, but with reckless emotions, trying to make an escape from the lounge, and being blind, Beatrix clashed in and bumped into none other than Ericka Wilson, Godhand.

She had been left with the other gladiator, this nameless face, sure she had seen him before at some point. But had she bothered with remembering his name? No, not at all. So her expectation had been that she at least would be able to catch his name before the others would return and she would be pushed around again, had her expectation realized? No, not even the slightest. It was just as if the team leader had left the room just to fetch the others. Just as he disappeared out the door he walked right through it again, and with his return Lelah's grumpy mood was back. She didn't feel like working.

"Hello, I have another member of the team, you may recognize her. You can just call her Lucy."

The moment Lelah laid eyes on the other female, Lucy, she got a bad feeling about her. Not that she could say what it was, but it was something about the aura around her that wasn't what Lelah had expected to meet in here. She just felt the negative energy just overflowed out of her, and Lelah guessed that it wasn't just her that could feel it. She had no clue who she was - probably because she wasn't the slightest interested in the racing or the bot battles. So she had no idea what competition the woman would even participate in.

Even though Lelah felt an instant dislike for the woman she still smiled towards her, it wasn't a genuine smile however. And she wasn't even trying to make it look like one. Because she simply didn't care, she just felt like getting away from all that darkness that surrounded her. "Well, nice to meet you Lucy. So what is your expertise, bot battler or racer? I'm Lelah by the way."

"Look, we are technically a team, but don't think we are friends. Since when this city, this world, crawl itself out of hell. No, I'm still figuring out why I'm still burning, why anyone would deserve a life like this."

The last part came out much more quietly, so quiet that Damian wouldn't have been able to catch it if his hearing hadn't been enhanced. He could, in fact, help that he felt a pang of sympathy for the angry woman by reminding himself that she was a capable adult who could make decisions for herself.

"Teamwork and camaraderie are entirely separate. We are asking that you be professional toward your fellow teammates," he said, "I understand your pain, but if you hate Apollo so much you can take your own advice. He is, as you say, 'a greedy vulgarian'."

As he continued speaking however, he noticed the redhead walked away....only to bump into the Godhand. Ericka Wilson was not one to be trifled with. Outside of her devastating strength she possessed a blood lust that operated outside the bounds of teamwork and sensibility. Though Phoenix was irritating, Wilson stood on an entirely different plane. He feared Wilson, but not nearly as much as he wanted to study her.

"Godhand? I'm so sorry I didn't know it was you. You know I would like to see things from your point of view, but I can't seem to get head that far up my ass."

Phoenix was as dumb as she was stupid.

"Both of you stop!" he yelled, waving his rod and firing a bolt of electricity near the two women, "animosity or not we are here to fight the White Knight not each other."

His third arm popped out and began whirring, ready to laser off either one of the two.

"I will not miss again so think very clearly about whether or not you want to continue your match."

Lucille "Lucy" Archer

"It's good to know who else I'm forced to depend on," she smirked as they reached the person known as "Lelah Piaget."

Her appearance was as unconventional as her fighting style was reported to be. She had tattoos, shaved sides, and piercings littering her face. Quite distinguishable compared to some of the other gladiators she'd known her time. Lucy didn't expect much professionalism or normal wear but she couldn't believe that those piercings wouldn't be pulled out during a fight. Well, assuming that Lelah's opponents could even get that close to her.

"Racer," she answered.

“Racer.”

When the woman gave her answer Lelah almost shrugged in response. It was a simple answer, nothing more than one word and how was Lelah supposed to respond to that? There wasn’t much she could say about it, so she just watched the woman silently before adding, “Oh, so you are the racer. Cool.”

It was obvious to Lelah that this Lucy was just as interested in getting to know her as Lelah was interested in getting to know her. Which meant she was not interested in it at all. Lelah didn’t have anything against the other members of the team, even though she hadn’t get to know them either because neither one of them seemed to be that interested in bonding. It was quite surprising since this was The White Knights team, but Lelah wasn’t going to bother with talking about it either.

“Well,” Lelah got quiet, she didn’t want to talk to the woman any more than this. She didn’t like her. There was no meaning in getting to know someone like her, so she just clasped her hands together before smiling again, “I don’t think I have anything more to add to this conversation so I’m going to excuse myself.” Just as she ended the sentence she turned around and walked to the other side of the room, as far away from the heavy aura as possible. Since no one had said she had to start training for tomorrow again she took it as an opportunity to continue her break, in lack of anything else to do she took out her tarot cards from the inner pocket and started to shuffle half of them.

The White Knight

Kadir noticed, things were... awkward, well to say the least. There was not at all any warm association between the two, but it was not like Kadir was expecting them to automatically become best friends for life, or any of that nonsense. However Kadir as also not expecting them to be so quiet either. Perhaps Lelah knew of the business Lucy involved herself with, and it was not pretty nor sometimes clean.

Kadir turned to Lucy as Lelah walked off on her own, "Well, I have to get back to preparing her for tomorrow's match. I guess you will be in the garage, yes? Good, I'm sure Eight's fine with your company, well after all he is a robot, I don't think they have much say on most anything, nor feeling." And with that Kadir followed Lelah's trail, sure she technically did not get a break, and now he was going to toss her back into training, but Kadir knew, or at least sense, it was for her own good. Kadir could not allow himself to watch another, he was responsible for die. And it took no genius to theorize that there was no room for mercy on Apollo's team.

Kadir approached Lelah, analyzing the cards in her hands as she shuffled the deck. Tarot cards, Kadir did not know much about them besides that they were some type of foolish witchery that supposedly determined one's fate. But though Kadir had a lack of interest in the topic, he wanted to know a way he could bring her attention back to training without sounding rude and as if he didn't care about her hobby. Though he was aware that the majority of fortunetellers were actually con artist. Kadir would not know if Lelah was one of them, because he did just meet her the day before. And though he met her a day before, he still cared about her, or he would have not recruited her on his team in the first place. Kadir was sure if he did not accept her, that she would not have the proper training of a gladiator, but still continue to fight. Kadir would not know how to live with himself if he walked away from someone he could of guided out of death's hand.

"Um, Lelah, those cards... have pretty um... pictures," Kadir was trying to be nice, as he always did, he was just a pretty positive man. "But, Lelah," he sighed while starting, "I don't want to interrupt your fun, but it is really important that you get enough training for tomorrow's match."

Lelah watched quietly as The White Knight approached, even though she could sense where this was going she continued to shuffle the cards in her hands. Eyeing them as well, carefully placing the cards she wanted to have access to at the top. Even though she found it funnier to not manipulate the cards and just see what they could be telling her she felt like this was not an opportunity were she should let them have their own ways. It was all a judge of character, sensing what kind of person you had in front of you. And since she had already judged his character she had already figured out what kind of cards would fit him. He, The White Knight himself, was probably King of Cups. An elderly man, compassionate, wise, someone you could trust easily or ask for advice.

"Um, Lelah, those cards... have pretty um... pictures. But, Lelah, I don't want to interrupt your fun, but it is really important that you get enough training for tomorrow's match."

Lelah rolled her eyes slightly, his business with her wasn't an surprise at all. But she continued to shuffle the cards, making it look like she shuffled them all while those she had placed up front where still there untouched. But as she did so she didn't look away from him, and in the end she started to grin while lifting up The King of Cups, "How predictable you are King of Cups. Emotionally mature, knows what's for the best but still cares for the others opinions and feelings." As she spoke she lowered the card and placed it at the back while she lifted the next one that was on top, "But don't worry because I predict that the future will bring--," right in the sentence Lelah hesitated as she watched the card she held up. it was not the card she had planned to be there, she wanted The Sun. A card that stood for fortune, success and overcoming difficulties. Instead she found herself holding The Wheel of Fortune. But something no one other than those who could read tarots knew was that she held the card so it was reversed, to any other she just held it upside down. But the cards changed meaning depending on position, and a reversed Wheel of Fortune meant bad luck.

But the small moment when she lost focus soon ended and she continued to grin towards him, "As you can see it's the Wheel of Fortune. Doesn’t that calm your nerves, hm?" She continued her play, not mentioning the meaning of the card since any other would draw conclusions just by the names they had. And even though it wasn't the card she wanted to appear the name still could fool an outsider to think it was about good luck.

The White Knight

"How predictable you are King of Cups. Emotionally mature, knows what's for the best but still cares for the others opinions and feelings."

Kadir smiled, that was nice to hear, even if the compliment was coming from a card, he felt like no doubt Lelah was telling him something. Well, Kadir does know that he tries to be kind to everyone, even his enemies. During his five year span of disappearing, of being gone with no trace no sign of where he went, Kadir did ponder revenge against the mecha users that killed Lelah or even Apollo. But Kadir soon realized that the old saying about revenge was true, "Revenge is like drinking poison, and expecting the death of your enemy." For so many years Kadir was mad tormented by his own mistake, and the killing of his daughter, until he decided to at least cease the anger he had towards others, towards the murders. And though that may sound like a good thing, but the anger never did stop, no instead he consume it all against himself. And every night he does his best to run away from the fear, guilt, and shame. He is gone so far to resort to a drug to wash away the memory that creeps into the night.

"As you can see it's the Wheel of Fortune. Doesn’t that calm your nerves, hm?"

"I guess its better than being told some doom is ahead," he said in friendly tone, though he could not understand why Lelah was interested in a bunch cards, its not like they could actually predict someone's future. But Kadir could not lie, being told he was in light of fortune, or so he supposed, felt good. "Maybe the cards could predict tomorrow's outcome in the ring, or maybe instead we can actually train, and rely more on our bodies rather than on superstition." Kadir turned to the direction of the sparring room they were once in. "Come on Lelah, we still have plenty of training to go. And I have to teach you your most important lesson next."

"I guess its better than being told some doom is ahead. Maybe the cards could predict tomorrow's outcome in the ring, or maybe instead we can actually train, and rely more on our bodies rather than on superstition."

Once again Lelah rolled her eyes before adding, "Nah, I think it would be funnier to just rely on the cards instead. Makes it easier to avoid surprises and such things." Not really, but she was just delaying the inevitable. The more she could push it ahead the better, she still felt pretty bruised from before. "Perhaps you want me to predict your future, or have a question you want to get of your mind? I can do both things, I just need a table to put my cards on!"

She would have continued to try to make time go by talking about it, she could drag out the conversation a lot more with useless facts about the cards and how to use them. Or useless for those who wasn't interested at all. Her plan was to continue with her lecture about it, if it wasn't for him butting in, "Come on Lelah, we still have plenty of training to go. And I have to teach you your most important lesson next."

"Oh," She stopped shuffling the cards, intrigued by what he said. Most important lesson, it sure did sound interesting. She wanted to know what he meant by it. So she took out the rest of her cards from her pocket so she could fold the purple cloth around all of them again. It was partly to protect them from getting damaged by bright lights so the colors would fade and secondly because it was a magical equipment - according to those who used it - and it shouldn't be contaminated by the ugly energy of the world. You had to purify it and yes, Lelah did have stones for such things.

"Alrighty, so what is this extremely important lesson you need to teach me? You have my whole attention now so teach me."

The White Knight

"Alrighty, so what is this extremely important lesson you need to teach me? You have my whole attention now so teach me."

"Come, follow me to the sparring room," Kadir said as he walked, leading Lelah to the said room. Inside, Kadir, strapped on boxing gloves while he instructed Lelah to do the same. The gloves themselves were rather heavy and after one got a few swings in their arms would start hurting. However, Kadir was not going to do any punching himself, he had only put the gloves on to perceive thought and idea that he was.

Turning around to Lelah he saw her standing on the sparring mat where matches are held. Kadir walked, well more like pounced over to Lelah. He jumped around keeping a strong but agile stance as he remembered the days as an enslaved gladiator when he was forced to fend against other boys his same age or older. It was a time of brutality for Kadir, and only the strongest survive, Kadir was trained to kill even before death matches were legal. It was a way to separate the weak from the strong, and Kadir proved his might. But looking back, Kadir would say that it was not right for him to murder and act like a dog to his masters for doing so with obedience. However he also would say that he cannot feel regret because regret brings guilt, but Kadir believed at that age he didn't know any better. No one taught him any better. So now Kadir was going to make sure he got his point across.

Kadir finally stopped jumping around and stood still. He lowered his hands and instructed her, "Lelah, punch me in the face." It may have seemed crazy to command that, but he had his reason behind it. Everyone knows before the White Knight there was Cataclysm, a ruthless gladiator that slaughtered opponents as if it was all a game for fame. He failed to see that he was hurting people until he hurt the one he loved the most. Kadir knew that though he only met Lelah the day before, but also that she would not want to ever hurt him, the man who spared her life. Not that Kadir was trying to scare her into never fighting again, but show her what it looks like when done out of brutalities. "Just do it, Lelah."

Beatrix Phoenix

Finally Beatrix blacked out, her consciousness submitted to the pain. All she could remember was blurred yelling, words she could not depict. Until she awoke, but of course it was not like she could see anything, not in reality, not in dreams. She always relied on audio, she could be a good listener if she wanted to. If she cared to.

But speaking of caring, she sensed something, people, breathing, sensed their weight, heard footsteps. It was Rook and Damian. Quite odd to her, she did not understand why they were there. Well, she could understand more why Rook would come, he was the one who approached her in the lounge, but not Damian, not after she had insulted his whole career and living. But yet again she insulted Rook, telling that he puts not enough effort, thus meaning that he will not be more successful than a lowly rookie.

"D-Damian, R-Rook, why are you h-here?" she questioned but not rudely, no she was not even acting like the same person in the lounge. Beatrix had not the voice of a cynical cunt, instead one of a hurt surprised child with a cracking voice after her screaming from her raw moment of the attack. Sure she was sore, but she was not in any wrong state of mind, she had full capability of her mentality, and it would seem like Beatrix's instincts to be ungrateful, quarrelsome, and arrogant, but she couldn't, she didn't have anything against them. Beatrix was many things, but she was not sadistic, she never had pleasure out of just inflicting pain on people. But the reason why she was so horrible to anyone was because first of all she was constantly a grouchy grump due to life's causes, and second because she never could trust anyone, she saw people as a target, shoot them first before they get you. For Beatrix, she always was in the arena, sure it may not be in the Colosseum, but she believed that she could never stop fighting.

Beatrix wanted to adjust herself a bit so she started by moving her legs, except she didn't move her legs. She couldn't feel her legs. Beatrix tried her best to do the slightest amount of movement below the waist, move a foot, wiggle a toe, nothing, nothing at all. Beatrix's face went from a sickly pale to a scared-to-death type of pale. The broken spine did it, it being something, Beatrix at this point did not know yet. But she did know, or least panic that she would spend the rest of her in a wheelchair unless cybernetics could do something, but no her step-father would never let Beatrix use cybernetics, he wanted her to be a legend so many great gladiators use machines for help and because of that he has indoctrinated her to believe that augmentations are for the weak. And Beatrix was not going to end up in a wheelchair that would be more embarrassing than dying, to go down as a cripple. Her whole career could be over because of her stupid mistakes.

"I-I...," she gulped, trying to sallow the truth of the matter. "I can't feel... m-my legs... at all." Beatrix started to breath, exhaling and inhaling faster and faster as her own words echoed in her head. "I can't feel my legs. I can't feel my legs!" Beatrix shook her head, "No, no, no." While being distracted over the fact that she was crippled, she had forgotten Damian and Rook as she spoke to herself, "Why did you have to be so damn stupid... Why, Beatrix? Why?"

"Come, follow me to the sparring room."

When the word sparring was brought up Lelah’s mood sunk like a stone, even though it was a second one after it. But the sparring room was as bad as sparring itself, she knew for an instant that she would get more bruises and it was not something she looked forward to. But she followed him anyway, she knew he meant well. But even though she tried to think like that she still felt tired and unwilling to do it as she strapped on the gloves. Just staring at him when she was done.

"Lelah, punch me in the face."

She blinked once twice and many more times, completely caught off guard by his words. She thought it was her who would get punched and now he told her she should use force against him, his face to be precise? She thought it was ridiculous. That he was joking, but his facial expression didn’t say it was some kind of bad joke. That he was serious, but she still couldn’t take it serious so she just swung her arms from side to side while laughing awkwardly, “Whaat? Punch you?” As she spoke she waved her hands wildly while dragging out the vowels as long as possible, making the sentence make the situation even more ridiculous than it was. She made herself sound like some childish teenager as she dragged out her protest, “Noo!”

She continued with her childish behavior, spinning around, not taking it all serious at all. Even though she knew she should listen, she didn’t. When she tried to punch him, she didn’t, she just tapped his cheek, she wasn’t even trying to make it look authentic.

"Just do it, Lelah."

As he uttered the sentence Lelah stopped moving around as if she was a bored child and just stood still and watched him. Sighing as she realized that he probably was right and that she wasn’t going to go anywhere until started actually trying to do what he asked of her, “Alright, alright. I will! Just
chill. It’s hard you know! Strange, complicated, not something I want to do.” Once again she was dragging out her time by rabbling. Once she realized that she was doing it again she just sighed and got quiet, looking around the room as she swung her arms from side to side again.

“Alright!” She wasn’t even talking to him anymore, she was trying to cheer herself up and actually do it. Mumbling things no one else could hear afterwards, even if someone could hear they would probably not understand since she was still just rabbling nonsense. In the end she did attack him, putting all her force into it because she wanted him to actually say she had done something right. Or done well. She wanted to be praised, she was tired of hearing that everything she did was wrong. But even though she focused her strength into the punch she still hesitated, not wanting to hurt him. Her feelings was extremely conflicted about the whole situation.

Kadir watched Lelah hesitate, but he understood that what he was asking was not something for her to do so easily. She didn't take him serious at first, but who would. Its not everyday your instructor ask you to strike him clean in the face. But finally when the blow did come to his face, the serious one, not the tap, he stumbled back with his head throbbing, feeling dizzy. He touched the corner of his lip to pick up a trickle of blood. But crazy as it sounds, it was not good enough for him yet.

"Lelah, harder!" Kadir shouted, knowing with each strike he deserved it. Kadir not only asked her to hit him because he was trying to teach a lesson, but because it was punishment for him, justice that he was delivered the pain due to the pain his daughter endured as he pressed and pushed her to Apollo's killing machine. But perhaps he was being too hard on himself, yes he trained Adelina to be a gladiator but he never abused her in doing so. No, Kadir was still a decent father, sure he could of been better, less demanding for victory, but he wanted her to be successful, what parent wouldn't want that from their child.

And though the second punch stormed into his face again, Kadir continued to bark, "Harder! Come on!" And when the third strike swept in Kadir felt his eye swelling, he could barely see Lelah without a blur in his vision. He was panting like a dog, quick short breath as he was knelt to the ground, arm supporting him so he would not fall over. He stared into the ground with a face of deathly shock, because the ground was not just the ground to him. It was as if he was watching Adelina's death replay in his mind over and over. Remembering that he has not felt this much pain since her slaughter in the arena.

Kadir finally pulled himself up, stumbling, almost falling as he staggered to Lelah, both of his hands on her shoulder. Kadir looked her as best he could with his mangled face. "Listen," he slurred with the blood in his mouth. "I never knew I was hurting people until I hurt the one I loved the most. I lost the reality that there were people in the arena, real living souls. Apollo was my pimp, and if I'd work that hard enough he would fill my pockets." Kadir now leaned his head against Lelah's, forehead touching forehead. "We fight, but never to destroy. We fight to show an example that there no need for death. Remember my face Lelah, never resort to brutality. With everything I taught you, promise me you will never destroy, that you will never disregard principles of mercy, ignore your humanity."

Lelah had counted on that one punch to be the only one, that it was over after that but to hear The White Knight bark at her to punch harder saddened her slightly. But she did as he asked, and punched him again even though it felt as uncomfortable as the first punch. The third punch was nothing like the previous two. This was in a brief moment of anger as she never got what she was after, so when he sunk to his knees of course Lelah panicked. Thinking that she had punched too hard or hit a bad place. She actually got ready to storm out of the room declaring she had nothing with the dead man to do and was innocent. If he now died, which she if she thought a step further would understand that he wouldn’t.

As she was taking of the glows, throwing them at the ground The White Knight rose to his feet’s again. When he did she let out the breath she had been holding since he fell to his knees. But even though she had thought that the whole "punch me in the face" situation had been strange she somehow felt that everything got even more confusing afterwards. At first it was okay, having him lean on her with his hands but when his face suddenly got down on her level, touching forehead with him it all got extremely awkward. Not that she had any problem with physical touch in general but this was slightly above about what she would say was normal. They met for the first time the day before and well having his face this close was slightly uncomfortable, even though it did feel like he was acting more like a parent than anything else.

"Listen, I never knew I was hurting people until I hurt the one I loved the most. I lost the reality that there were people in the arena, real living souls. Apollo was my pimp, and if I'd work that hard enough he would fill my pockets. We fight, but never to destroy. We fight to show an example that there no need for death. Remember my face Lelah, never resort to brutality. With everything I taught you, promise me you will never destroy, that you will never disregard principles of mercy, ignore your humanity."

Lelah nodded slowly, trying to process what was happening and what he wanted to tell her. He talked of brutality but Lelah had never considered herself brutal, or at least not as brutal as many other were. She considered herself pretty nice towards her opponents actually, but if The White Knight thought that she needed to hear this it was probably true. "Y-yeah... Sure... I will keep that in mind."
