Claes Rask

"Okay, I'll fix this. I don't know how, but I will."

0 · 297 views · located in New York City

a character in “Cataclysm: Wakepoint”, as played by Kuroe

Description

Name: Claes Rask

Age: Twenty years old

Ability: "Sight": Claes gained the odd ability to see in different ways, as well as see certain things that otherwise he would not be able to see (the future is not included). They are as follows-
Ultraviolet (self explanatory)
Heat sensitive (again, pretty self explanatory. Think all those moving, pretty colors.)
"Paths"- this one is interesting, in that it allows Claes to see the movements that he has to do to complete certain objectives. That may have sounded like a video game thing, but it's a good explanation for it. It works well when Claes does something out of Parkour. The first way he sees it is when everything goes black but a set path that he can see, which manifests as footprints. The second one, which is somewhat more useful, make everything fade away but an image of himself, doing whatever he needs to do. Durning this one, Claes can let his body take over and follow the image almost subconsciously. Claes cannot activate the second one at will.
"Synesthesia"- though probably not a quite correct name for it, Claes can see certain things outlined in color. Such as people who wish him harm or otherwise. Doing this, he can also see fingerprints or footprints, among other things.

Description: Claes has long, blonde hair that he generally keeps very well maintained. He likes it a great deal, and won't cut it for the life of him. He generally keeps it in a ponytail or braided tips he is doing something. As for everything else, he has somewhat dull hazel eyes and a light complexion. He also has rather feminine facial features, though he isn't usually mistaken for a girl. Standing at five foot nine, he isn't amazingly tall, a fact that he is comfortable with. He generally doesn't get much to eat, and so has a thin build, not quite slender, but also not so much so that he looks starved.

History: Claes' parents died when he was small, and he switched around a great deal in foster homes. He tried to make the best of it, and ended up learning how to do Parkour, freerunning and gymnastics, so that he had something to do anywhere he went. After high school, he chose not to attend a college and took a job offer of working with stage-combat and being a stunt double in small time films. He came to New York to work in one of those films, and has been there for a week during the filming.

Personality: Claes is generally an upbeat person. He tries to find the best of every situation, and, if there are none, he tries to find a way to fix it. Though he has taught himself to do this due to the fact that he's moved around and made and lost so many friends over the years, he has developed a few issues within himself. Mainly being that he doesn't really like anyone to help him, and doesn't completely trust anyone that much anymore. He doesn't completely realize either of these things himself, either.

Notable objects: he always has with him his small backpack, and a white and black jacket made for the cold, no matter what time of year it is or where he is going.

Fear: Claes has a fear of being completely alone, but at the same time he fears becoming too attached to people.

Other: Claes is rather proficient at doing Parkour and freerunning.

So begins...

(Running low on Phone battery and don't know when power will come back, so posting now)

He stopped by an ATM. He needed money. He tried draining power from certain areas of it in an attempt to make it shoot out money, and it worked. Money sprayed all over. He quickly collected the money, as much as possible, then made way for the exit, when the security doors of the subway started to close. Additionally , someone, either one of the guards, or a similar trooper then yelled "THERE HE IS!!". He started to run, but tithe exit was sealed. The other exit, however, was still open, but closing. He ran with an unnatural quickness, putting his hand on a metal panel, and both trained power from the door to stop it from closing, and electrifying the panel into a proximity mine, making anything that wasn't covered in rubber or the like, in this case the trooper, get blasted with electricity when they got near it. (basically, it had so much stored electricity it was supersaturated, so it wanted to deposited the excess electricity in the nearest possible thing)

He slid under the door, and kept running, not seeing who was following him. However, this was likely to spark someone's curiosity....

When Matthew heard the shouting, he continued to run. Until what he was saying struck him as odd. He turned around, and saw the man. He stopped, but was hesitant. "Who are you, what do you want?". He knew a part of the first question though. He was from the train. "Listen, I don't know what is going on...." a dead out lie, he yelled "Get down" on the train. Anyone who remembered that could tell he was lying.

But before anything else happened, another one of those trooperswearing all black came in and shot at them. Matthew took cover behind a support. The trooper then said "Come on Matthew, you and your brother can't hide from us. The Director only wants to talk, try and make things better. Did you really think you cou....". The Radio interrupted him. "Alert, the prototype detonated on the train , I repeat, the prototype detonated on the train! We need to round up all survivors ASAP. We are hooked into security cameras from the train station. Sending everyone photos and files we can get. Deploying retrieval teams! Move out!".

Matthew cursed. "Allright, fine, I can explain later. But first, let me deal with the guy shooting at us...". He turned around the corner, sliding towards him, then jumping up and kicking his gun from his hand, before disabling his voice and knocking him out using hand to hand combat. "All right, now, I can explain, but then you have to help me find my brother....

He then started walking towards the exit. "However, let's go before more people come...."

"Okay, well, normaly this is the part I tell you half the truth and not mention the rest, but I would rather not fight later. But I have to start this from about 2 years ago. Do you know about that bus crash 2 years ago, the one that had no survivors. Lie. It was a test of a secret device. Initially, it was support to manipulate cells to make people smarter. However, and don't ask me anything specific because I don't know anything truly specific, but I know it ended up mutating all the cells in a body in a specific way, causing specific and, I quote, "Ungodly", mutations deemed impossible by modern science. It requires a certain DNA sequence however that only 1 in every 3 people have apparently. The mutation can also vary based on the individual person. Anyways, me and my brother survived, and we're taken to be experimented on. They obviously didn't expect the bus to malfunction and blow up, but they used it as a cover story to kidnap us".

He sighed, then continued. "I eventually broke out, but they had moved him to a different facility. I finally learned where it is when they found me. They don't know I know yet however, nor that the second blast gave me a new power, but they might eventually find out. So I need to hurry, break in, and save him. And, since I highly doubt your "power" is useless, I need your help. Well, I might not need it, but it would help. So, will you help me? It's very close by, about two blocks over...". He started walking towards it, when he pointed out "Its under the hospital....just a tip".

He then also added "And any more answers you want would probably be there..."

"Well, actually..." that's essentially what his plan was. Bust in, save Ryan, get out. Mostly brute force. "You have a better plan?". Then he asked his next question. "That probably your power.....actually, if it's leading you in a direction, maybe it can lead us to Ryan.....like a video game path thing to an objective....or something like that. I really can't say, I'm not the expert".

He then noted "Enhancedreally, I can't lift a car or....well, actually, I can, but it has to be small, and only for like 13 second....". He then followed him up. "So what exactly are you suggesting as an alternitive to brute force? I'm guessing it's not explosions".

Meanwhile

An official business looking person approached William. "Excuse me? Yes, I'm from Hollywood. We have taken a paticular interest in your talents. If you would just step inside my limosene, I can show you a whole new life....full of fame and glamour".

Walking down the road, Razael was quite happy to keep to herself, but something just felt off. Glancing around, she happened to look up and see the same boy from the train car earlier in the day. Everything the other male had described him was correct. It was hard to imagine she had nearly forgotten what he looked like. Heading into the alley she looked for a way to get up. She finally found one and followed it up to the where the two people were standing.

"Hey, you're the guy from the subway. You're the reason all those people are dead." She wasn't going to say she had lost her job because of him. It seemed rather trivial when people had lost their lives. She couldn't help but wonder what would have happened if she had died. She couldn't have imagined the pain it would have caused her family, mostly her son. She didn't want to think about the pain other people were going through at the moment because of this one boy. "Explain yourself." She demanded. She could tell she was older so she was hoping she could use her age to her advantage. Raz didn't remember seeing the other person there, but that didn't mean he hadn't been. Did it really matter? She wanted answers and this boy was the one who could give them.

Matthew was caught completely off guard by the woman. How did she get up here? How did she find him? "What, do I have a giant arrow over me or something?". He looked up, and ironically, there was a giant red advertisement arrow. "That doesn't count.....".

As Razael essentially accused him of multiple accounts of homicide, vandalism, and possibly borderline Terrorism, he simply looked at her like she was crazy, and noted "Uhhh, yeah. Last time I checked, I wasn't the one carrying the ME....the device that caused the crash. Nor did I loosen the locks on the briefcase, and caused it to fall and go off. And, I really don't like being accused of multiple homicide and Vandalism.....". She didn't seem to know about the affects of the device, so he decided to leave that part out. She didn't seem like someone who would want to help, anyways.

The boy's explanation only seemed to make Razael even more upset. The image of her parents and son having to bury her body was the only thing she could really see when she closed her eyes. "That may be, but you were running from them. Had you not entered the train car innocent people wouldn't be dead. So sure maybe you weren't directly the one who was carrying the device or allowed it to slip out, but they were chasing you. So indirectly it is your fault."

Glancing to where the one male was at, she could only shake her head as his antics. He reminded her a lot of her brother, at least how he used to be before his career ending accident, but that was an idea for another time. Then the words he had been saying actually registered with her mind. "What are you two planning? Don't you think enough people have died today for you? What is so important that those people had to die for you?" Her voice was much softer by the end on her last question. There were very few answers he could give her that wouldn't make her want to smack him or worse kill him.

"However, I had no way of knowing what would happen. If there is someone you should blame, how about you blame the people who had the device, which are the same people who have been following you ever since the crash....the gray car that has been driving around the street below has passed 3 times in the past 10 minuets. There is a man with a newspaper watching from the bench across the street who sat down soon after you arrived. Now, they probably have not identified me yet, because then we would probably be dealing with either Government Agents, or mercenaries posing as SWAT. Now, you could stand there blaming me for something that would not have happened if it wasn't for them in the first place, or, you could duck the tranquilizer dart that will be fired from the window directly behind you in about 5 seconds.....and then work on not being followed.....".

He then, instinctively, ran across the building and jumped to the one next to it, and he heard a dart fired. The two from the car had gotten out now, taking out Radios and heading into the alley. He jumped down on top of them, knocking one out and accidentally killing the other. They both clearly had sidearms, and each one was about to take it out. The man across the bench was about to report in, but he grabbed one of their radios, and threw it at him as hard as he could, causing him to fall back and both radios to be crushed. Another dart was fired, at him, but he grabbed it in the middle, and threw it back around, hitting the dart shooter.

He then looked at Claes. "Now, they won't be expecting us. So any shooting wont happen until we start making our presence known. Generally, what I did before was take them out one at a time, used their own bodies as cover, and went to the computer and try and get anything useful off of it. Then escaping usually involved walking out the front door, because either everyone else was hiding, ran, or was incapcitated and/or dead. Usually by themselves shooting their own people I was using as a shield. Though this one time this one guy jumped out behind me while another one in front of me fired, and they ended up shooting each other.......by the way, I never got your name. Names Matthew.....oh, and considering im still fine, two of us should have a good chance.....even if this facility is bigger then most...."

Claes almost fell off the fire escape in his surprise as something flew past the girl and his head, hitting the wall behind them. How exactly did someone miss them? They were standing there, too. He jumped of the railing of the fire escape, turned halfway in midair, hit the opposite wall, and used the force to propel himself to the fire escape's next landing and onto the roof of the building yet again.

"Im Claes Rask. Thanks for asking. Anyways, look, I don't really know what's going on, but lets just get this over with before they actually get up here!" He was about to start laughing hysterically. Three men were outlined in red below them, though Matthew picked one off with his own dart, and the remaining two had glowing white guns. What was with the glowing? Everybody was doing it now, weren't they? Was he high? He was pretty sure that that was the only explanation for it at this point. Well, since he had never done drugs, that wasn't a very good one. Maybe this was a near death experience and he was still in the train. Or maybe it was actually happening and he should start running, he thought as a bulletin went singing past his head.

"Hey!" He called to the girl, who was still, miraculously, alive on the fire escape. "Are you coming or not?!"

She still couldn't understand why he wouldn't accept the fact that he was still partly to blame. He made the choice to go to the subway not them. But Razael suspected that most of it came from age. She remembered a time when she wouldn't have been any different from him. Having her son and losing her sister changed a lot of her perceptions of life. Then she heard some crazy talk about going to be shot with a dart. Yeah, maybe he had escaped from a lunatic facility. That make perfect sense to her.

At least until she turned around and actually saw the dart. Her eyes widened as she stared at it. But it never hit her. It seemed to have hit something and bounced in another direction. Now maybe he didn't seem so crazy after all. Something was definitely going on. Something she didn't understand. That didn't excuse his behavior, but she was willing to listen to what he had to say if he only stopped acting like a child who couldn't see or put blame where it belonged. Wow, I've grown up. If only sis could hear me now. I would probably be the one to put her in the grave this time. Her thoughts were morbid, but she didn't have much of a sense of humour anymore.

"I'm coming with you." She had a few hours to kill before she was actually supposed to be off work. Maybe she could still make it home in time and no one would be the wiser. She could always lie and tell her mother she had randomly decided to walk to work and wasn't on the subway when the accident happened. Though she wasn't sure how she would explain the gash on her forehead.

She followed other boy, the one who had been standing there when the dart had missed them both. "What exactly are you planning on doing? And... what the hell is going on?" Direct questions, but she wanted answers. She needed them now. If he could justify himself then at this point, she might actually believe him.

Matthew was incredibly hesitant with her, considering the fact she couldn't see it wasn't his fault. "Really, why should you? Because you don't seem to get that I will not be your little scapegoat. I didn't run into the subway, I was chased into it. Because those people who were chasing me, they had guns. They were going to shoot me probably, or worse. They are the actual reason I was running in the first place! For all of this! So EXCUSE me if I won't be your little scapegoat you can shift all the blame onto! Excuse me for trying to save my little brother! And excuse me for not wanting to be caught and/or shot!!"

Matthew had, more or less, just vented all his anger right there. He probably also said to much. But she just came up to him, started bitching, and tried to use him as a Scapegoat. He took a deep breath, and then, trying to regain his composer, looked at Claes. "So, we should probably get going......before more of them come.....". He then began to walk towards the hospital.......and his brother....

Matthew, who was trying to calm down, just went supernova with anger. He hadn't been aware of it, but his enhanced perception had been analyzing her. Her reactions, the way she talked, and whatever he spotted in her bag and pockets. Subliminally, so he had no clue what he was about to say was coming from. "You don't know what its like to be responsible for yourself, or anyone else! DO you! I have had to care for my brother for most of my life! I was experimented on for months and months! Have you ever been in a bus that was targeted and blown up! DO you even know what it is like to have responsibility!? DO you know what it is like to take care of someone else, BY YOURSELF?! You would make a horrible mother! You would NEVER be able to care for anyone? DO you have a backup plan for when it all falls apart? Are you thinking 7 steps ahead?! Are you even considering what would you do if you lost your job?! OR are you too ignorant to even have one!? There is NO choice when its either lose and die, or have a chance to live and help the people you love! Do you think you would even be here if your parents were there to be responsible for you! I wouldn't be surprised if you were a mother, who had irresponsibly got pregnant at 16!"

Electricity now was gathering at his hands, the charge he had left from the subway. "I HAVE HAD MORE RESPONSIBILITY THEN YOU HAVE EVER FELT IN YOUR WHOLE LIFE!". Now he had just punched her straight in the face, and then, in an attempt to avoid further conflict, tried walking away again, breathing deeply. He went toward the hospital. The amount of anger he had no, he might rip the whole hospital apart and the facility beneath it trying to get to his brother. That was his sole focus now. He zoned everything and everyone out except for Claus, and the thought of rescuing his brother. Well, and traffic. And where he was going. But that's it.

Claes had watched the scene play out silently. To be quite frank, the woman scared him. She reminded him of a foster mother he'd once had. A perfectly nice woman, to be sure, but scary as a devil when she wanted to be. When the argument became more heated, he tensed. This was really, really not the time for this... Matthew had completely lost his cool, and, though Claes didn't know too much about either of them, he was sure that they knew about as much about each other as he did. Was now seriously the time to pick apart every little thing about one another? As the woman began to walk away, he sighed and, once again, hopped down the fire escape after her.

"Excuse me, I may not know much about responsibility, but... Now really isn't the time to be doing this, right...?" he said somewhat quietly to both of them. "I mean, We've got people shooting at us and stuff, and... Umm, Miss...? You probably shouldn't go off on your own..."

He was fairly sure that his little speech wasn't going to help them too much, but he could at least hope.

"Ma'am, I know it's pretty confusing, but right now we've sorta got to work together, I think... If only to figure out what's going on exactly. Matthew... Y'know what, this is really awkward, since I don't even know both of you, I think I'm going insane and there are people with guns who want to kill all three of us. So can we just skip the drama and shut up so we can actually survive and stuff? Er... Please?"

"Fine by me. I really don't care or want drama right now. Lets just go.....". He continued walking towards the hospital when a car crashed into another car after being distracted by all the violence which had initially been caused by this random woman coming out of nowhere. And, being New York, a variety of explosions came from this crash along with a few more crashes, killing quite a few people. In all this fire, Matthew managed to stumble out of it, but the air was filled with smoke.

He wanted to just sleep really. Or cry. He was holding it all in. All this energy, this anger, this emotion, he had funneled into saving his brother. He could see Claes, but no one else. "Can you see a way out of this? This smoke is too thick....." (Hint hint nudge nudge)

Meanwhile...

Ryan was trapped in a holding cell, accessing his cell's speakers to let him spy on others. That was his power. Technopathy. Ranged Technopathy, though it is more effective with contact. His little secret he had yet to share. For all they knew, he was just superintelligent. Thats when he heard one of them mention a "plan", some preliminary "testing", and "The Meta Bomb", while they had called their previous devices a "Meta Pulser". If Ryan figured this next part right, that meant a large bomb........and a large scale test......a large scale, city wide test......and this was not good.

(SOrry for short post, but I managed to get a good twist in to keep it going!)
