Political schemes, romantic scandals, royal assassinations...bloody battles. Our main story starts in the city of Baile - a dark, impoverished place in northern hills of Glasluigh, in the Empire of Croasaire. The country has been thrown into a state of turmoil and suffering. Death has touched each home, and there is misery at each door... The new ruler of Glasluigh, Duke Anerin, has been charged with the task of leading his people out of darkness and his rebellion to victory. Yet all the powers of fate seem to be against him. His only choice now is to turn to a matriarchal orient and a horde of bloodthirsty vikings - but will he be able to convince his people to follow him? To be continued.

Image
Current Year: 1409.

On the dawn of the fourteenth century, the Croasairan empire made its first campaign into Kirharesh, on the boarders of the Dalelands. The Dales had long since been bidding piece between the two Empires for centuries; it had been lost and won countless times, throughout countless wars. It was not until Baleria came into alliance with Croasaire, that Kirharesh was finally overthrown from the Dales, and purged of its eastern rule. Despite this, the king's thrist for conquest had not yet been sated..

King Caederyn- known as a tyrant amongst many- had the ambitious goal to claim all of the Northern hemisphere for his own empire. With Baleria in alliance, and the rest of the countries of Domhanda claiming neutrality, he was half-way to achieving his goal. Kirharesh was his only obstacle, always impeding and resisting his plans. Only a short two-year-term of peace followed after the Battle of the Dalelands, and in 1405, the Croasaire army invaded Kirharesh on the banks of the Samaria desert, starting a second age of total war.
The current year is now 1409, and four long years of war had dragged on in Samaria. Kirharesh's forces have been pushed back to the southern boarders of Samaria, and the continent is on the brink of total domination by Caederyn's forces. The Queen of Kirharesh has passed away, on terms of illness, leaving her daughter to claim the throne. The only hope now for Kiharesh is to ally. The new queen's eyes have turned to the country of Glasluigh, a northern island under the rule of the Croasaire Empire, where the Grand Duke and other nobles had rebelled against the empire...fighting to achieve independence and freedom from nine years of strife.

Rebellion of the Horselords:

Before the beginning of the War, Prince Anerin was sent to Glasluigh at the age of sixteen to reign as Grand Duke . Glasluigh was an impoverished country, home to poor horselords, nobles, and the peasants that served them. The Grand Duke of Glasluigh soon after discovered the true corrupt nature of his father, and began to reshape the country in hopes of liberating its people. In 1408, Anerin announced a complete rebellion against the empire. Small battles have been fought on the western and eastern fronts of Glasluigh, with little result, and the King is now at war with his own son.
The Grand Duke is now plotting new alliances - by marrying the new Queen of Kiharesh, and making a pact with Feearan. The viking warlord, Halvard, has arrived in Glasluigh with a small force of norsemen to discuss terms with the Grand Duke, and the Queen of Kirharesh has now left her homeland, traveling by sea to decide the fate of her people and meet her future king...

Glasluigh
The country of Glasluigh is a land riddled with rocky hills and jagged mountains. The dominion is surrounded by the Western Sea and harbors a mountain range in the central part of the territory, known as The Spine. It is under the rule of Grand Duke Anerin, a half-blood prince of Croasaire. The country is technically a part of the dictatorial reign of King Caederyn, Anerin's father. Glasluigh is divided into two regions with two main cities, Baile and Graig. Baile is the capital, which is home to Castle Casiel, stronghold of the Duke. The soldiers of Baile and Graig are renown for being the best horsemen in Domhanda, and have a Calvary of over three-thousand strong.
Image

The Captial of Glasluigh is Baile, where our story begins. It is a large town bordered by a perimeter of stone, atop a massive hill at the foot of The Spine. Due to the war between the Croasaire and Kirharesh, Baile had to undergo a series of heavy taxation, which resulted in great famine and poverty.
The town is well fortified, with houses and buildings forged atop its hills. There are more than three smithies, which offer fine armor, weapons, and farrier services. There are five stables, one for commoners and peasants, one for merchants, two for the city militia, and one for the Nobles and the Duke. There is one common seamstress, two butchers, and three bakeries. However, most commoners make their own food and clothing.
The Pendragon is the most popular tavern within Baile. It is a hub for merchants, travelers, and common-folk. It offers a wide variety of ales, entertainment, and decent home-cooked meals. The tavern is located along the banks of a small creek that travels down the central part of the town, accessible by bridge. Inside is a large cherry-wood bar, a small stage for the local scalds, and an upper-floor that serves as an Inn. The Pendragon is currently owned by Kelf, a veteran businessman.
Image
`
Castle Casiel over looks the city of Baile on the highest peak of the city hills. It is small, yet nearly impenetrable. Due to the height of its position, the fortress is nearly impossible to catch off guard. The watch-towers are ever alert, scanning the Glasluigh plains. It is home to several Nobles, knights, and militia elite.
Outer Layout When approaching, the outer-gate is well guarded with sentry atop the drum towers, and three guards that patrol the front portal. No one is allowed admittance unless baring a seal of approval, or direct appeal from a member of court. When the bridge is crossed, an individual must also pass into the inner-ward, where a green courtyard awaits.
Inner Layout i When entering the main-keep, the front doors - built of solid pine, elegantly engraved - open up to a short corridor, very wide in girth. The Main hall is bordered by exquisite pillars, aligned against four faces of stonewall adorned with tapestries. A stone throne sits to the farthest wall, blanketed in red velvet and ivory furs. The Main hall branches off into four different corridors, that lead to other sections of the castle keep.
Inner Layout ii From the Great Hall, there is a chapel that conducts a morning mass every Sunday for the servants. The Grand Ball room offers frequent festivities and parties. The Great Hall serves as the dining room for members of the court, while there is a separate Mess hall for the servants. The library on the level is open to servants, members of the Court, and visitors. The baths on the ground level are open only to the members of the Court, as well as the conservatory. The upper level serves as home and quarters to the guests, servants, and members of the Court. The Royal Wing is for the nobles, with six individual rooms. The Guest Wing holds four. There is a chapel on this level as well, for royals and nobles only, and a Library that serves as the Duke's private study. There is another conservatory, usually reserved for the Duke. There are two servant quarters, which holds ten cots in each. There is one other section that has six private rooms for favored servants (ex. head-cook, steward, stable-master, etc.)
Inner Layout iii
The base level is mostly non-accessible to visitors, servants, and any other ilk that are neither noble nor royal. Head servants have the only right to the wine cellar and the storage. The Dungeon and Treasury are guarded by two soldiers at all times, and they are prohibited to any but the Duke, unless given authority from Anerin himself.

Kirharesh
The lands of Kirharesh are as wild and unforgiving. The earth is seemingly untouched, holy, and pure as the blood that courses through the Ummah, the people of the empire. Cities are few an infrequent, and the sands stretch endlessly, baring naught but sand and withered wasteland. The empire of Kirharesh is known by many names, but above them all, it is revered as The Holy Lands. The people of Kirharesh worship Esh-Ban, the god of the sun, and Arunah, the goddess of the moon. Their culture revolves heavily around the Sibling Gods, making the empire iron-clad in belief and tradition. The majority of Kirharesh's population is Ummah, a race of darker skinned, brown eyed, black haired people. The women of Kirharesh hold the dominance of empire. Men are soldiers, hunters, fishermen, providers, fathers, or servants and patrons.
Image

Among all the cities in Domhanda, the Imperial city of Beth-horn is by far the most beautiful. As ancient as Kirharesh's sands, the entire city is a network of redstone and winding waterways of the Medad - a vast oasiz along the banks of the Calsuhim river. The city is lush with exotic fruits, greenery, gardens, elegant temples, and exquisite statues. Most travel by slim boats, shipping off exports or imports to local houses, and the ports of the Edrei Sea(the Ocean of Fire.) Common folk live in large apartments in the southern sections of the city. There is limited poverty in the metropolis, despite the ongoing war. The markets and bazaars of the city are renown for being the most vast and extravagant in all of Domhanda. There are bath houses always open to the public, which were cleverly engineered by Kirharesh's founders. These baths offer hot water by a network of underground bellows and pumps. (Like the Roman Baths.)
The imperial palace of Baara is the largest structure ever built, and exceeds the grandeur of the Imperial Palace of Croasaire, by elegance, size, and beauty. Dome watchtowers stretch far along the high walls that boarder the palace's inner ward. The palace is guarded by hundreds of well trained men - the Shemer - who are a brotherhood of renown warriors that protect the royal palace. Inside the marble corridors are draped in elegant silks, and the air is potent with incense. The palace is regarded as Holy, and the Ummah believe that the royal family had been appointed by Esh-ban in ancient times to rule. As such, the palace interior is never to be seen by a commoner, nor is the Queen and her family.
Image

Kirharesh is a land ruled by a Matriarchy society and belief. In their beliefs, Arunah is the mother of all things, and the bringer of the cool night and water. Her husband is Esh-Ban, protector and punisher to the unworthy, and the bringer of glory to the faithful to the powerful. However, fire is always undone by water, and the sun always undone by night. From desert dog, to lion, to wolf, to spider, the mother is always the ultimate power, where the male is always the protector and breeder. The Ummah see men as willing servants to women, who protect their Queen, breed when necessary, and provide for their families. As such, there are no whorehouses or brothels in Kirharesh. Women are permitted to have as many lovers as they desire, until they choose a husband. Unfaithfulness in men is punishable by death, as is the betrayal of house and family. All servants are men and all positions in the hierarchy belong to women. The most revered warriors in Kirharesh are the spearmaidens of the Moon Guard; chosen soldiers of the Moon Goddess and personal guard of the Queen. Heirs are only chosen by the Queen, and the King consort holds limited authority (he is the commander of armies.)

Men and women dress in light garbs, robes, and sandals. Common-folk wear linens, cotton, and silver, while nobles and royalty are always adorned in cashmere, silk, satin, gems, and gold. Noble women wear veils to mask their beauty from the unworthy. Noble and royal women decorate their eyes and cheeks with paints, shimmer, gems, and stones. Only a noble lady's husband, children, and closest servants are allowed to gaze upon their faces. The Ummah mostly use camels for transportation. The weapons of choice in Kirharesh are sickles, scimitars, spears, and bow-and-arrows.

Feraan
In all of Domhanda, there is no more foul and desolate place than the White Wastes of Fearaan. It is an impossible labyrinth of razor sharp stalagmites, and stalactites, forged of white rock and stone, with pearl mountains that stretch to the very skies of Avengard. The wind is forever cold and bitter, and the land itself wards away all that dare to tread it. The very earth moves beneath anything that prowls, giving Fearaan the nickname of 'The Land of Moving Ice.' Indeed, as an entity, Fearaan is a malicious and bitter world, yet it is the inhabitants that strike fear in the hearts of those who know it. Fearaan is home to nothing but peril, from the mammoths and arctic wolves, to the savage clans of norsemen. The vikings of Fearaan have fought over the land for centures, and as such, blood constantly stains the snows. It is said that any voyager whom dares to scour the wastes, never returns...
Image

The vikings of Fearaan are known to be barbaric and thoroughly ruthless. They revel bloodshed and war. Their race is generally known for being taller than the men of the other empires of Domhanda. The majority are pale, blue or green eyed, and rather unkempt in appearance. Unlike Croasaire, women fighters are neither discouraged nor condemned, and their are many. Despite their savage nature, they do not disdain honor, and worship a pantheon of norse gods. They fight by spear, sword, axe, or hammer and shield, and adorn their bodies in the furs and crude leather. They are also known for their rituals, often sacrificing animals of worth - or even men - to their gods before battle. All of the clans are known for taking slaves. Norsemen travel by camp, moving with the elk and perusing their enemies. Hundreds of clans are spread throughout the region. The most notable clans are: Tribe of the Elk, The Wolf, The White Cat, The Whale, and the Ram. Thorvaald is the chieftain of the Tribe of the Wolf, and his counter-part is Halvard, of the Tribe of the Elk. Both of these leaders dominate Fearaan, and are currently traveling by sea to meet the Grand Duke of Glasluigh.

OOC Notes:
1.Please be advised that this is strictly a NO fantasy game, and is based strongly on realism.
2. All players are expected to follow and abide by the Roleplayer's Creed.
4. Please do your research into the medieval way of life before joining.

Character Creation Notes:
1. Your character should hail from either of the four main empires: Croasaire, Kirharesh, Baleria, or Fearaan.
4. Your character's actions will be judge and punished realistically. Keep that in mind, and know that any
character can die at any time if you are not careful. And some will.
5. Women fighters were incredibly rare during this age. The dark ages were not known for equality. Because
of this, if you desire to play a female character with warrior traits, she must be from Kiharesh or Fearaan.
6. Weapons were steel and wood, end of story. Long-swords, halberds, bow and arrows. Keep your weapons
realistic. No gunpowder, etc.
7. I strongly encourage players to make NPC's or non-main characters to keep up story progression. They
will come in handy when your main is tied up in an SL, and you won't feel much attachment if they end up
dying.

If you have further questions, all you must do is ask.

AZZURRA
1409, Third of June | Dusk.

The Great Hall had been transformed. Expensive cloths dyed in marvellous hues cascaded from the polished ceiling as the flicker of candles illuminated the stained glass windows. Laughter and chatter danced with the music that streamed from fiddles and plucked strings in an improvised symphony. Perhaps more attractive that the garments of the guests were the tables lined with delicacies. There were moist plums bathed in cinnamon honey, a roasted goose roasted in colourful root vegetables, sweet potatoes that had the glistening sheen of crystallised sugar and fine porcelain plates piled high with pastries.

A black hooded figure stood unseen in the shadows by the entrance, as still and silent as the coming darkness. It followed the movements for the Kirhareshi Queen and the surrounding people, keen and guarded even in celebration. A woman with a dangerously low neckline strutted in the shadow's direction and bumped into the figure's arm.

"Relax, Captain," the Spearmaiden said, a grin evident on her painted lip despite the near transparent veil. "You were wise. It is better for us to gather information and protect our Queen this way. At least without our normal hideous drabs we won't stick out like sore thumbs." In Azzurra's opinion, the vibrant, sparkling green of the Moon Guard's dress 'stuck out like a sore thumb,' but what would she know, such parties were not in her area of expertise. It was Suhayla's advisor whom had sourced the appropriate clothing. "Come on," Fara said. "Take it off. Let me see."

Azzurra gave a reluctant shrug, tugging the cloak from her frame. Fara let out a long whistle. "You clean up well. I mean, not that you weren't stunning before," she hastily corrected. "I've just never seen you dressed so..." She searched for the least offensive phrase and came up a few straws short. "Feminine. Casual."

Fara hooked her arm through the Moon Guard's elbow, grabbing Azzurra's cloak and tossing it aside. "Remember this?" she asked without looking at the woman beside her. "Before Captain Janyane..." she trailed off. "Before you became Captain." She turned to Azzurra with a melancholy smile. "We used to do this all the time."

Fara's Captain did not reply. She never did anymore.

Midnight blue trailed behind Azzurra like a piece of the sky rippling from her figure. The candlelight illuminated the milky way embroidered into her dress as she entered the Great Hall with Fara by her side. It was more skin than Azzurra had ever showed in her last few years as Captain all combined, which was not saying much. She was paler than her Kirhareshi companions, her skin the flawless sheen of fresh cream and ocean pearls. She blamed it on the lack of Sun, she having hidden beneath her robes and armour all this time. Her dark hair cascaded curled over her neck and brushed the bottom of her spine like a river from the night sky. Coils of obsidian had been pinned on her head with shiny weapons disguised as exotic jewellery. Her dark locks were held in place by an ornate dagger and strands of small crystals hung from it, tickling the side of her face. She wore lengths of thin, wiry silver on her wrists and arms, made for slicing and strangling. Beneath her dress were knives strapped to her thighs. A deep blue veil hid her lips stained red with poison from prying eyes.

"Try to have fun tonight, Azzurra," Fara said, calling her Captain by name for the first time in many years. "I'll see you," she said, her emerald garments and bronze skin disappearing into the crowd.

Azzurra stood alone in the festive, her fingers entwined and hands clenched tight. Where she always stood straight, her spine was even more rigid than usual. She was lost amongst all these people, having no idea how to interact with others. Once, she'd been able to, but now she never felt more alone than when she was surrounded by people. She walked across the hall, scouting, not quite knowing what to do with herself. Suhayla needed space to breathe and it had been so long since she'd been allowed to simply enjoy herself. Even her crowning had been not much cause for celebration, seeing as the Queen had to have to die for Suhayla to have to take the crown. Azzurra did her best to blend into the shadows and disappear but still eyes followed her where she went. She felt naked, the shimmering silk so lightweight she could hardly feel it on her body. A red faced man gave her a drunken smile and a sleazy remark. She replied with a withering glare. It was more difficult than she liked to intimidate when she was dressed so ridiculously and seemingly unarmed.

The Captain of the Moon Guard had never felt so unprepared in her life. She itched for the spears at her back but they weren't there. Without her multitude of weapons and defences to weigh her down, she felt that she might float away. Moonlight streamed through the window and reflected from her glistening dark hair. Azzurra prayed to the Goddess Arunah that Suhayla would be safe and that she herself would survive the night.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

I am very much alive, just busy moving cities. As soon as Calvazara gets Suhayla to respond to Kaleb, I shall post with him. I would not dare to desert. Me and Layla now even live in the same wondrous city, and she would no doubt find me somehow if I did leave. As I have grown rather fond of my man bits over the years, and would like to keep them attached, I am committed to this till the end!

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Yes please. I ready to keep it going!

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

I'm still here as well. Shall we resume posting?

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

I'm alive!!! Oh how we've longed for your return, master. Welcome home. Please, lie beside me with our bodies entwined in an utterly heterosexual way.

Quite certain am I of Aftershock's livelihood. Fear not for castration awaits him should he fail to reply. We do, after all, reside in the same country of wondrous possibilities.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Oh you can just say it was done without your know how. Maybe they were raiding in secret because they were tired of sticking around without some action. I didn't think your whole crew would be wrecking the town anyways if that helps!

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Damn Iowa.... You... Oh well, I'll just have to adjust, you saying that Brenton's men were raiding kind of threw off a big part of my plan. I'l find a way around it however.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Alright everyone, I need a roll call! Whom is still interested in Domhanda? I want to know who will be sticking around for this story before I start posting. :)

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

No worries Cynic!

Everyone who is still here is patient and loves the story. If you ever need help, let us know ok?

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Oh my god everyone. I AM SO SORRY FOR THE DELAY. Of course after the holidays my internet was cut off and I only just got it back (and of course I have a shitty prepaid phone now and not even a smart phone.) It was hell without the net. Did I miss anything? I will catch up on posts ASAP.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Posted.

Elk's first interaction with others.

Spooky...

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Be aware that it is Halvard, not Urfith who is meeting you, Urfith is on a mission for some horses!

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

This would be the music to be played while Trenton travels.

I also edited my post, please re-read it the way it was intended to be read.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Trenton saw a pyre, so they began riding north. i'll explain in my next post. The pyre that Brenton lit was closer, so they went there first.

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Wait, so, if the guards from Baile are with Brenton and the Elk tribe, who is meeting with the Wolf tribe? I had thought Trenton was riding to them...

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Happy new year!!! Hopefully this isn't dead. Not when the Fearaanis are about to crash the upcoming feat! Tell us (or post) when you want it to be evening, Cynic and we'll follow your lead. This is not over yet. You're the best group of writers I've ever worked with >.<

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Let me state what is going through everyone's mind that still checks this forum.

"I hope someone else posts soon."

Don't be shy, just post!

Re: Chronicles of Domhanda

Well this looks like a blast, I submitted a character to Cynic and, if he likes it, I shall join you soon!
