Introduction

.
.
Ten years ago, an inscrutable and abnormal territory known as Hell's Gate appeared in Tokyo, altering the sky and wreaking havoc on the landscape. The real stars disappeared, replaced by false stars. During this time, people possessing various special abilities emerged, each capable of different supernatural feats - these are known as Contractors. Each fake star has a corresponding Contractor, which reacts to their activities. Kept secret from the masses, these individuals are known to murder in cold blood, smothering unnecessary emotions with logic and rationale. Their incredible abilities, however, are gained at the cost of their humanity - Contractors are thus named because of an involuntary compulsion to "pay the price" each time their power is used, which can range from eating particular foods and completing meaningless tasks, to self-harm and having their bodies change in peculiar ways. Various nations and organizations around the world train and utilize Contractors as spies and assassins, resulting in violent battles for valuable objects and information. Following the disastrous Heaven's War, the United States lost its dominant position as a superpower to a mysterious organization named the Syndicate.

If you are already knowledgeable about the manga/anime, scroll down past the terminology section for the plot-line of the roleplay as well as other character tidbits.

Terminology
Hell's Gate (地獄門(ヘルズ•ゲート) Heruzu Gēto)
A mysterious and chaotic area of space that appeared in Tokyo ten years before the start of the series. Its appearance led to the rise of Contractors and Dolls. A massive wall has been constructed around it to keep civilians – or anyone else, for that matter – from entering. Several countries, including Japan, are cautiously conducting research on the Hell's Gate, exemplified by a top-secret research facility PANDORA built next to the Gate Wall.

Heaven's Gate (天国門(ヘヴンズ•ゲート) Hevunzu Gēto)
Another chaotic area of space that appeared in South America and disappeared five years ago, along with everything in a 1500 km radius around it. Its exact nature at this point is unknown in the series. Its appearance apparently started a large-scale war, one in which Great Britain and Argentina participated. The area where the gate was has become inaccessible. Interestingly enough, Heaven's Gate and Hell's Gate are located on opposite ends of the globe and are considered exact opposites of each other.

PANDORA (Physical Alteration Natural Deconstruction Organized Research Agency)
A UN-operated research facility dedicated to studying the phenomena of Hell's Gate. Located on the edge of the gate within the walls, an international team of scientists examine the properties of the gate via manned and unmanned expeditions within. Paranormal phenomena akin to ghosts are not uncommon here, likely due to the lab's close proximity to the gate. Though run by the UN, it is not impervious to intelligence agencies; both the Syndicate and CIA have infiltrated almost every level of the research center. PANDORA has a heavily armed security force, consisting of armed soldiers possibly of various nationalities and armored vehicles, meant to protect its facilities and personnel.

Contractor (契約者 Keiyakusha)
Contractors are individuals who have gained supernatural powers due to the appearance of the Hell's Gate and Heaven's Gate. The existence of Contractors is kept a secret from the general public by most governments around the world, but they are well-known to the higher echelons of society and in the criminal underworld. Contractors possess two other traits that give them a rather sinister reputation: the need to perform remuneration, which is a bizarre, obsessive compulsive "payment" for the use of their powers, and a generally pragmatic, Machiavellian world view. This is described by the Contractors themselves as a lack of emotion in general, but not much evidence exists to verify this claim. Many Contractors exhibit at least some forms of emotion, including love, joy, guilt, and sorrow. They are described as being totally rational, and totally amoral. The general rule seems to be that they feel no guilt, and they cannot form or retain social bonds. A normal Contractor cares, in essence, only about their own well-being, and everything is reduced to a cost/benefit analysis: Any other issues like laws, emotions, or the question of the sanctity of human life are irrelevant to them.

Doll (ドール Dōru)
Emotionless "mediums" created to mimic the forms of humans. Dolls can form a variety of functions; the most commonly seen in the series is their use of observer spirits, which serve as reconnaissance. Dolls have different mediums through which they can send their observer spirits and must be in contact with this medium while observing; for example, a medium could be water, through which one can send their observer spirit anywhere else there is water. A Doll can also act as the perfect sleeper agent. It can be given the memories and personality of another person and assume a person's personality perfectly, mimicking all their habits, dreams, and feelings until the time is right. A theory suggests that Dolls can go beyond their "set" characteristics and become something else.

Moratorium (モラトリアム Moratoriamu)
An intermediate between a Contractor and a Doll. Moratoria appear to be people with Contractor powers who do not require remuneration as part of their power. Unlike Contractors, they do not have control of their powers, shifting into a hypnotic state of unconsciousness as they use them. Moratoria also suffer from severe mental trauma as a result of their power. The chance of a Moratorium morphing into a Contractor is near zero, but possible.

Regressor (喪失者 Sōshitsusha)
A Contractor who loses their powers in exchange for a flicker of hope for a normal life. There are very few known Regressors, and the way one becomes a Regressor is also unknown.

Meteor Fragment (流星の欠片 Ryūsei no Kakera)
An object coveted by many intelligence agencies and organizations, held at PANDORA. It seems to be connected to the appearance of Hell's Gate, however, PANDORA does not believe that it is of much importance as they had already discovered a similar substance in South America before Heaven's Gate disappeared. Its appearance resembles a large lens, and when inside the Hell's Gate, it displays an as of yet unexplained synchrotron light. This object allows entities which do not exist (such as ghosts) to appear, and also allows entities which exist to disappear (although this is unknown).

Contract Payment (契約対価 Keiyaku Taika, also referred to as "Remuneration" or "Obeisance")
True to their names, all Contractors must pay a price for using their powers, whether they wish to or not. Moreover, it seems that the amount of payment required is dependent on how much the Contractor uses his/her power. Although this payment can be delayed, especially in the midst of combat, it is ultimately unavoidable. Each Contractor has a unique remuneration, reflecting the chaotic nature of the Hell's Gate. Remunerations are typically difficult for the Contractor and range in severity from irritating to painful. However, there have been a few contractors who enjoy their remuneration and at least one who uses it in conjunction with his own ability.
Known remunerations include
Acupuncture
Alteration of age, swiftly growing older or younger
Arranging pebbles in meticulously straight lines
Baking
Drinking various fluids, such as hot milk, beer, or the blood of children
Earmarking the pages of a book
Eating various foods, such as boiled eggs or weeds
Inability to lie
Intaking and regurgitating objects
Kissing someone
Placing the shoes upside down on the ground
Pulling out hairs
Regaining human feelings for a brief time
Revealing a secret
Self-mutilation or injury, including dislocating fingers or wrist-slitting
Singing a song
Sleeping
Smoking
Losing function of body parts, such as legs
Writing poetry
Making origami sculptures
Revealing magic tricks
It is also possible for a Contractor to fully pay off his Contract, but this is an incredibly rare feat, requiring a drastic and traumatic sacrifice. In the series it has only been seen to happen in those Contractors who have the ability to swap bodies, where their contract requires them to eventually lose their original body as remuneration.

Plot
Whether a rogue contractor, a syndicate member, or a fighter of the Japanese Police, you are living amongst each other inside of Hell’s Gate. It’s a fight for survival daily and eventually, only the strongest will live until tomorrow. A new group of contractors threatens the city as they search for the meteor fragment. Along with this, they are forming an army of contractors to conquer Japan. Although a name for their group has not yet been established, MI-6 and other rule-enforcers have given the name “The Dolls” as most of their followers are ruthless and emotionless. Will you join the ranks of “The Dolls”, or will you fight for your life in one of the most dangerous cities on the face of this earth?

I’m not someone who likes making the plot all complicated. This is a roleplaying site for writing and creativity; spiffy it up by yourself. ~ Estrelas

Abilities and Mediums Already Taken

Estrelas
Molecular Manipulation
A powerful technique, which allows the user to manipulate electricity on various scales, even to the molecular level. The technique can work with all possible ranges. As long as an object is a conductor of electricity, the technique can be passed through it, making indirect attacks possible.
~Vin Starkr~
Mirrors
By touching the surface of a mirror, or a solid reflective material such as glass, the user can locate comrades as well as use Observer Spirits through the substance.
~Lyra~
Illusions
This ability enables the user to create an illusion for anyone in their vision field. This illusion can be enjoyable or painful. Sometimes to torture opponents, the user will bring himself into the illusion as well. The illusions can also be used to make a bigger battlefield or one that would be more useful for the user. While in the illusion, the person cannot move or see what is happening around them. If the person realizes he is in an illusion, the ability is useless. The illusions can also be made so that the opponent is fully aware of what is going on around him, but is seeing something that isn't actually there.
~Puck~
Absorption
This ability enables the user to absorb any sort of material into their body so they have the properties of that material (color, density, weight, strength, etc). If he touches steal, his whole body will become steal. Say he loses a body part in battle; using his ability, if he touches another person's arm or leg (etc) he can grow back a body part that looks like the person whom they touch. In cases such as this, Locke turns to Puck as they are mostly identical (other than slight variation in hair color).
~Locke~

crybloodredtears
Pyrokinesis
A powerful form of pyrokinesis, which allows the user to both create and control fire. Incinerating an enemy can also be preformed using this technique, as long as the target is within range.
~Rina Kobayashi~
Water
By being in contact with the substance Izumi can eavesdrop and track anything near water. This also works, to a small degree, with ice as it is the frozen (solid) form of water.
~Izumi Alkaev~
Sword manifestation
Sword manifestation works by the contractor summoning swords out of their body. This ability allows a person to create a sword or more from his body; it works best when he is near a person to launch a surprise attack, which has actually caught targets and contractors offside. The most notable use is through the hands two standard Katanas appear and exit from his hands or stay within them, it has been noted that when a katana from his hands are destroyed the new one gets slightly stronger.
~Zane Styler~
Hydrokinesis
This ability allows him to control the movement of water using only the mind or body. In most fiction, Hydrokinetic beings can control water, and he can become water, with he is also able to survive in deep
areas of the sea, and breathe underwater. Being well versed he knows how to use his power to a very deadly degree, it is often shown to control the molecular state of water, being able to manipulate the surrounding water in the air, freeze water, or even make clouds of steam. people with Hydrokinesis have a variety of abilities. like being able to breathe underwater, control water in all forms (solid, liquid, or gas.) and duplicating and curing water molecules and controlling shapes and molding water. Hydrokinesis is a defensive and offensive ability. He can use Hydrokinesis to pull moisture from the air, and duplicate the moisture into liquid and manipulate it, control the Hydraulics in machinery, and manipulate molecular structure in water to cause it to freeze or heat and possibly jellify. Hydrokinesis can also be used to make a water/hydro ball. It can be used for some sort of self defense. with this power, he can also create ripples, or huge waves of water.

Lyra’s coal black eyes flickered open. She sat up and examined her surroundings, a frown upon her lips. Right. She’d slept at one of the syndicate owned houses. Curled up beside her was a familiar black cat: Usui, to be exact. Tilting her head, the doll stroked the cat gentle. “Morning, kitty,” she murmured and yawned. Her stick-figure-like form stretched, stood, and stretched once more. Where was Zane? Coal orbs flickered around the room in search for the redheaded figure.

“He has his own place to stay,” came a masculine voice.

The doll looked down at the midnight feline. “You need a bath,” she said bluntly.

“I’m not the only one,” he growled in return, tail lashing.

“I’m going to find Zane.” Lyra paused, placing her hand on the small shard of mirror hanging around her neck. Cocking her head to the left, the blonde turned and promptly left without another word. Following her several feet behind prowled the black cat, dark eyes peering suspiciously around each corner.

Morning. Vin had been up for most of the night, something she did on a regular basis. Sleep wasn’t necessary when danger lurked around every corner. The sun was rising over the gate, streams of light hitting the rooftops and streets. School girls were on their way to Tokyo Academy, young boys were taking out the trash as they rushed to get ready. Everything was bleak and boring. Humans were bleak and boring. Reaching up, Vin tugged down the shade almost as if disgusted.

The Dolls were, as of current, staying in two different apartment rooms across town: boys with boys and girls with girls. The redhead herself was accompanied by Rina, who was still sleeping in the back bedroom. Deciding she didn’t want to disturb the girl, she pulled out a sticky note and pressed it to the door. ‘Heading out. Meet at the abandoned complex at 12. –Vin’. Examining the note and ultimately satisfied with it, the contractor headed out the door.

In her corset top and booty shorts, Vin blended in with the crowd nicely. She stuffed her hands into her cropped trench-jacket and continued down the street. Concealed within the inner pockets of her jacket were several cleanly stored wires. Her gloves were sticking out of her back jean pocket. The redhead paused at a fruit stand, grabbed an apple, and flipped a coin towards the owner. She took a bite and continued on her way, every now and then throwing it up in the air and catching it.

Red haired and cold catlike yellow eyes, were the features of this man, his body felt under pressure by something, it was on his left side. Slowly his eyes opened he saw a figure lying partially on top of him, it was a blond-haired school girl, with a lean build. He checked her over and saw the two holes pierced into her neck, she was his snack last night when he needed to do his remuneration. Her chest wasn't moving making her dead in his; using the blue sheet he covered the body knowing that the syndicate would remove her. Stopping at the head he gave her a kiss on her forehead before walking into the bathroom.

Striping himself of his PJs Zane turned the knob, letting the water sprinkle on him; the feeling soothed his killing nature. He touched the wall as the water continued to sprinkle on him, his body was ready for a fight, but mentally he wasn’t. Stepping out, and stopping the shower he took a towel to dry himself off, it was first his front, second came his legs, thirdly was his back and would have been his hair. The male throw the pointed the towel toward the door, and soon a gunshot resonated throughout the apartment. A hole appeared on the towel as well as the door; a thud was heard. Grabbing a white shirt, with a black jacket and a pair of tattered jeans the lord of blades exited out of the bathroom.

Carefully watching the blood seep from the wound he felt nostalgic, it was his body’s way of saying that he didn’t need any blood. The figure was of a man mid twenties, a 4:00 shadow could be seen, with a gun in his hand. “Human,” the voice resonated from his lips; “your race is a pathetic one. Honestly did you think I was going to die?” Not a word came, it was typical response.

Tugging on his blacks tennis shoes on Zane walked down the silver stairs, there wasn’t a sound coming from the place. He with a couple of drunks lived in the buildings; it seemed that they were out. Touching the golden knob, he opened the door to be basked in sunlight, a warm sensation swept throughout his body as he walked down the street. He passed through a market, buying some pocky for Lyra, he knew that the girl liked candy. Opening one of his pockets, Zane put it in. Strolling, his yellow eyes caught the attention of a red haired girl; she seemed to be his kind of women. Stopping he choose not to approach her and veered off in another direction.

Stopping in front of the door, he took out the key which lay in the depths of his pants pocket. Inserting, he turned the knob and stepped in. A stick-like girl was about to leave with a cat trailing behind her. “Hey Lyra! I see you’re finally awake. I got something for you.” Unzipping his pocket to produce a red box that read, Pocky in bold and underneath chocolate flavor. He handed it to the girl with a warm, friendly smile.

Vin was walking down the street when she felt a set of eyes on her. She paused at one of the makeup shops and, with a mirror, managed to get a glimpse of his face before he turned away. Frowning, she placed the mirror back on its stand and headed back down the street. She had an hour or so before she had to meet the others at the abandoned apartment complex. Why not stir up some trouble? But where to and what would she do?

It was then that she spotted the club. Perfect. Running her fingers through her hair, the redhead snuck in through the back door and into the waitress dressing room. Once there she pulled on a frilly black apron. 'Does this make my boobs look small?' she thought before grinning at the thought. Taking one last examination of herself, she headed out into the music and smell of alcohol.

Out in the open with people around her, it didn't take long to find her victim. He was a handsome, charming young man; late teens, early twenties she guessed. Vin strolled up to him and asked if he needed a drink, how he was doing, all the while keeping the ditsy girl act on. And he was taking the bait so easily. Within minutes she was pulling him back towards the men's restroom, a one-stall bathroom with plenty of "privacy".

Upon entering the bathroom, the young man was expecting a little more than he got. Vin flicked off the lights, pulled him down to her level, and kissed him with an electrical shock. He struggled for only a moment before falling still. Tilting her head and turning the lights back on, she examined his dead body. Beautiful but sin-filled. Before she excused herself from the bathroom, she bounced her rubber ball thrice, pulled off her apron, and shut off the lights. Nobody noticed the small redhead sneak out the back door from which she came and disappear amongst the crowd of shoppers.

====

Lyra's hand was reaching for the door just as it opened, revealing Zane. If she had been programmed to show excitement, she would have, but she hadn't been, so instead she cocked her head to the left and observed him quietly. He had bought a gift for her: Pocky, her favorite treat. "Oh," she said. Although her voice was flat, her dark coal eyes seemed to light up. She took the box in delicate, child hands and stared at it as if devouring it with just her gaze. "My favorite," she added. A ghost of a smile upturned the corners of her lips, but it was gone in an instant as she struggled to open the top. Once open, she popped two in her mouth and sat Indian-style in the chair just off to the left.

"I've already notified the Syndicate that they need to pick up the girl's body," came the voice of Usui. He was perched upon the top of the dresser, rubbing his paw over his ears to clean himself. "You have an interesting taste in girls. That one was the daughter of Police Chief Takashi." Two amber eyes fixed themselves on Zane, almost seeming to frown at him. "Can't you control yourself? We may be monsters, but we need not kill the innocent." He dropped down to the floor and sat, tail lashing. "We going to get going? The Dolls don't kill themselves, you know."

"The kitty needs a bath," Lyra murmured, poking Usui with a Pocky stick, who hissed in response.

Zane looking pleased as Lyra took the Pocky listened and watched her actions; he walked along with staying right by her side, hands behind his back. His eyes followed up to the cat, his expression dull, feeling no emotions toward what he did, Zane patiently waited for Usui to finish. A smile was blossomed upon his face as the cat finished; it would creep out anyone not used to it. Oh those dolls how ironic of the name that we call them, right Lyra?” His eyes were on the girl who pocked the cat with her Pocky.

“Go and scout you two I’ll get changed,” he said inclining to the suitcase by the dresser. It was not his place to give orders but he just didn’t know what to do with them, mostly Usui. He have to work with the cat but that didn’t me he needed someone scolding him. Annoying, would be the word he’d use for the cat. Walking toward the dresser he kneeled down, eyes tracing the suitcase as he brought it up, toward his head. Silver was its color, with a purple ribbon flowing downward. Giving the two a smile he walked off toward the bathroom.

A dark purple suit fitted the male, with long golden stripes going along the edges of the suit. The elegant beauty of the suit would tell that it was finely made. Worn over it is a black and golden cloak with a crimson spandex inside and an enormous black cape encircling the head? He looked at himself by the mirror; his every feature was either striking or elegant. Picking up the mask Zane eyed it closely, a spiky black and indigo mask with a variation of a sword sigil, he knew that it was very difficult to make. He fitted it on, taking the name “Lord of Blades,” upon himself. He could see perfectly through it. Unlocking the door he wondered if Lyra had watched him strip to his boxers before donning the costume on, it would be something he would ask the girl.

As soon as Zane disappeared into the bathroom, the midnight cat expressed his frustration with a low growl. "I hate that kid," he muttered. Without a second glance at the small girl a pace away, he stood, shook himself, and leaped onto the dresser to access the window, his usual place of escape. He paused, however, as a small hmm sounded behind him. He turned his majestic head around to watch the blonde doll, confused at why she'd made a noise in the first place. Only when he completely focused on her did he notice that she was using her observer spirit. "What's up, kiddo?" he asked, eyeing her with brilliant amber eyes. "Watching Zane change through the bathroom mirror?"

"You're a sick feline," Lyra replied, completely unamused by his sarcasm. "There's been a murder at a club just west of the market district. Male, early twenties. Stabbed? No. Electricuted." She glanced up at Usui. "Could be one of The Dolls."

Usui's tail began lashing. "Hear that, boy?" he called to Zane. "Head to the market district. See if you find anything interesting there."

===

Amused by the large police force that had invaded the club area, Vin sat two streets away, watching from the rooftop of a motel. She kicked her legs over the edge and hummed a little tune. Thirty minutes until the group was to meet at the abandoned apartment complex. She had time to mess around. Satisfied, the redhead dropped back to the ground and took a second bite out of her apple. Icy blue eyes gleaming, she headed down the street towards the shopping district to have a little more fun of her own.

Listening to the cat Zane nodded but before disappearing he turned to Lyra and spoke, “give mister kitty a good bath for me Lyra.” The black cloak trailed behind him as he disappeared. The figure was jumping off of buildings as he headed toward his destination.

While moving he could see a person jump off a building, his eyes already told him that she was a female. Not making a sound he landed, sifting his form the teen walked over the edge and smiled. His innate fighting instinct told him that the girl wasn’t ordinary and when it was like that, it meant one thing. Contractor. If what Lyra said was true then she could be one of The Dolls.

Calculating a strategy Zane formatted one, running to intercept the girl, he jumped, literally jumped off the edge and glided over her, his costume making him look like a bat. Landing his cloak was wrapped over his body until he got off the ground; behind the mask piercing yellow eyes gave her a deadly stare. It was the girl from before, so she’s a contractor hard to believe with those blossoms. “Well,” a modulated voice said, “it seems I caught a queen in my path.” He held his hands forward a black glove covering them, blossoming from it was a black bladed sword with a chain on the hilt, this version was stronger, and lighter, than its predecessor. The guard was black but didn’t matter; the handle was blossomed from non-conductible material. “How about I teach you the tango.” It
wasn’t a question, but an order.

"Ima give you a bath."

Vin jumped backwards in alarm as a dark figure flew over her head. Now was her time to act. "Leave me alone," she said, anxiety in her voice and fear on her face. "I don't talk to strangers." Her icy blue eyes met his as she took a shaky step backwards. Without warning, she turned and jumped through the open motel-room window. She raced through the furniture and out the door on the other side. Not looking back to see how close she was, she darted across the street, quick on her feet, to the gathering group of police. "Excuse me," she said, practically running into a tall police-woman.

"Kid, can't you see we're busy--" The woman paused, frowning at the sheet-white girl. "You look as if you've seen a ghost."

"There's someone following me," Vin replied, swallowing as if to force back tears. "He's dressed weird and is wearing a creepy mask." She chewed her lip, nervous.

The woman studied her momentarily before turning to one of her comrades. "Take this girl home, would you?" she said.

Vin, appearing satisfied with the "protection", took the man by the hand and quickly led him away from the scene. She couldn't go home, that would risk giving away her hiding spot. But she could go to the abandoned saw mill just down the road. It was fixed to be demolished sooner or later, so getting it messy wouldn't make a problem. The man seemed fairly clueless of her intentions up until the point that they entered the saw mill. Upon entering, she gave him a shock, tossed him into a stack of saw-dust, and headed towards the shadows of the back of the saw mill. Quickly and expertly, she threw out her many wires, making it almost impossible to get through to her without even minor injuries. Once finished, she retreated to the darkest corner and pulled on her mask, black cloak, and black romper (which easily slit on over her clothes).

Irritation gripped the boy as he saw the girl make off, and to worsen it she had the audacity to tell the police about him. “Freeze!” Two voices said they were cops no less and this truly got on his nerve. Walking toward them his sword elongated toward the two idiots, their eyes were filled with surprise. It was 23”, a swift move cut through the gun. There reaction was of fear as he reached them, knocking them out he did a boost and disappeared. He hoped that Usui would be happy that he spared their lives.

Traveling through the air his mind was set on catching the girl. His steps, on landings, and jumps, were soft and quiet a small shadow could be seen from below. He remembered her appearance; it would be hard for him to forget a beauty like her. His senses acted, telling him that she was near. Landing in an abandon saw mill, he began to proceed with caution, knowing that there could be traps laying in wait for him. A dagger appearing, it was hurled through the air; he heard a small cutting sound before it stood in mid-air. He was near the edge, not even in the mill he stood there motionless.

A modulated sound came from him, “well this is new. Tell me doll what are you going to do now?” Will she escape or fight; it was a question of life or death. His longer then life sword appeared it was held about over the mill, whatever she said he would bring it down. He wondered if Usui would arrive to watch him kill the girl.

"Tell me doll what are you going to do now?”

There was no immediate response to his question. Vin was watching him with the utmost curiosity. Blades that he could pull out of his body? Painful. She took another bite from her apple, relaxed. He had thrown a dagger into her trap and it had done the definition of nothing. Her wires appeared to have deflected them, causing it to cut through something amidst the darkness. Perhaps the unconscious body of the officer? Of course she hadn't just killed him, that would have been the last thing she'd do. If he turned up to be dead after the end of this battle, she'd have to hide the body.

"Didn't you hear me earlier? I don't talk to strangers," she called up from the darkness. From what little she could see of him, she could tell me was also masked as well as dressed in a peculiar outfit. The redhead placed her hand to one of her wires and let off a shock through it. When preparing her trap, she'd placed this wire through the middle where it touched all other wires, so as her electricity flew down that wire, all other wires were given the shock as well. If the mystery figure touched even one of the strings, he'd be cut as well as electrified. But there was no need to get cocky just yet. He was a new foe. There could always be complications.

Watching the wires get shocked, Zane guessed that the mystery gal was a professional, but his mission didn’t involve failure. Knowing that the Lyra was watching, he wouldn’t allow himself to die. Zane watched the wires with utmost caution, he didn’t know much about this contractor, but he had to guess one touch and he would be dead. He touched the top of his helmet then reaching from behind the cape, a gun was pulled. The black bladed sword retracted back into his hand, no pain felt he looked dead ahead. He smiled from underneath the mask; the aim was toward the girl. “You may not talk to strangers but you sure do try to kill them don’t you.” Stepping back, he remembered where the first wire was shocked at; he would take a guess that’s where the girl was. Turning the safety off he fired off six shots, it didn’t matter if he missed his only goal was to get the girl out of the saw mill.

A half awake Rina yawned and stretched before she got out of her warm bed. Hers, she didn't actually think of it as such and found it strange that this thought had automatically come to her mind but shook it off easily. The Moritorium sighed as she noticed the sticky note on the door, " The abandoned complex at 12.." She mumbled to herself, nodding as she walked into the bathroom and had a quick shower after which she quickly put on a short sleeved blouse and a short skirt, she often got mistaken for being a student in such a simple outfit as this.

Rina quickly walked out the door as soon as she was ready, her long white hair flowing out behind her as her piercing green eyes scanned the area around her in a casual manner. She noticed Izumi standing right beside the door and smiled genuinely at him before taking his hand and continuing toward the rendezvous point.

She was getting good at this casual-thing especially for being a human.. er, kind of a human.

---

Izumi never really slept, when he did it was only for a few hours each time. He was forever keeping a close eye on Rina, the Moritorium of The Dolls that he actually had a sort of fondness for. Strange, for a Doll to have some sort of attatchment, but as his programming; he didn't really care. He saw she was awake and was instantly on the move, his blonde hair hiding his silvery blue eyes as he walked toward the apartment room Rina was currently in. Izumi looked like a student, a rather calm and would-be-late type of student, in his white t-shirt with a pocket and black pants and shoes.

He made it to the apartment room quickly, waiting for only a few moments before Rina emerged from the gaping door. The girl closed the door quickly and took his hand, the lovely smile on her face directed toward the male Doll.

" What are our orders?" Izumi asked quietly, his voice as uncaring as always, as he followed alongside the girl who held his hand.

" We meet with Vin at the rendezvous point at 12. We have a little time for now, let's go." Rina murmured quickly, effectively ending that particular conversation as the pair pushed their way through the hustle and bustle of many others who walked about.

Vin examined the contractor with a careful eye. Between the mask and the interesting attire, she couldn’t distinguish any specific facial features. His mask completely covered everything; hair, eyes, face, and all. His wardrobe didn't help her either since it covered pretty much all of the skin on his body. Finding out his identity would be a tough one. But as the contractor drew out a gun, she was once more forced to pay her full attention to the battle before her. His reply, the voice, was not familiar, she noted. And then he was pointing the gun in her relative location. No matter. She hadn’t picked this spot to hide for just any reason.

The redhead, nimble and quick, jumped up towards the overhanging loft. As she did, a bullet raced just past her cheek-bone, causing a trickle of blood to roll down her cheek. Her hands silently grabbed onto the edge and she expertly swung herself up into a crouch. Although still inside the barn and hidden by the shadows, she was on his level. Now there, his form, the shape of his body, looked almost familiar. Had she noticed him sometime within the past couple of hours? Had he been following her since she left the apartment? That irritated her. There was always a possibility that he was working with a doll alongside him. That would make things difficult.

“You should take your mask off,” she called, using her flexibility to weave through the wires without cutting herself. “I'm sure you're much more handsome with it off.” The saw mill was causing her voice to echo, giving no sign of where she was residing. Now pressed in one of the back corners, she pulled out her own handgun. She gave the gun a little shock before aiming up at the contractor; it would make the bullets “shocking”, if you really wanted to say it that way. She fired six fast shots, one towards his actual direction and several others around him so it would be difficult to find an escape route.

"Perhaps we should go help Zane?"

"How can you tell with the mask off?"

"You're a cat. You wouldn't understand."

Guessing that the girl had dodged his shots, Zane soon smelled the aroma of blood, hit, there was hit but it was probably a graze. Oh how the rich, red, nectar made him feel, the chorus that he heard when biting into a neck was beautiful and he bet that the girls was the greatest of them all. He heard her voice asking for him to take off his mask, taking his mask off was something that he would never do. The only way was to break it.

Being on the ready he heard gun fire. A matter of seconds happened carefully timing it he unlatched his cape, the long black piece fell off. Throwing it in front of him, the cape took the shots, staying in the air; Zane gave a short boost of the ground. The shells clanked onto the ground, his hand reached the cape, but a static feeling went throughout his body forcing him to let go. He landed on top of the building; his yellow eyes bore into the top of the saw mill.

A new sword was in his hand but being put into his hand, it was gaining length. Boosting into the air he made a cyclone spin using the sword. He knew that it was sharp enough to cut through the building after all it was 4 meters long. Upon landing he shifted his body weight to land on the ground, there was no sound as he landed.

The gunshot, loud and echoing, provided enough cover for Vin to jump out the back window of the loft. Whatever was going on with the other contractor, she hadn't seen. She streaked down the streets, feet light and fast as they hit the ground, surging her forward. Using her knowledge of Tokyo's blueprints, she darted towards the busy area of the Shopping District. People were about, talking, laughing. Chaos in itself lived amongst the shoppers. And it was her best opportunity of a clean escape. Clearly, she'd met her match. No other contractor would have dared to challenge her, especially while she was already prepared for their attacks.

Mask and other clothing items quickly stowed in her satchel, the redhead hurried into the crowds. She pulled back her hair as she walked and stuffed it into a base-ball cap; anyone who looked at her head from behind would have suspected a boy. Now all she had to worry about was her clothes. As she passed a clothing store, she quickly slipped inside and snatched a large green hoodie. Practically throwing her money at the cashier while pulling on the hoodie, Vin hurried back out into the crowds.

Rina had had her fun of dragging Izumi to several shops but it was nearing 12 and they were on their way to the rendezvous point. The pair knew how Vin could get when they were late so Rina had decided that they would be early, very early. The blonde pulled Izumi along behind her, walking at a fast pace, as he managed to somehow keep up with the athletic girl.

Izumi was as quiet as ever, his face showing absolutely no emotion as there was no one around to try to pretend around any longer. They were going to the abandoned complex; the place Vin had designated as close to safe as they would most likely get, for now anyway. He kept his silver blue eyes focused ahead of him, every so often glancing at the bag that Rina had at her side. He knew there was everything the pair would need in there including Rina's black 'mission' clothes and her silver mask that hid most of her face. Izumi also knew his plain black mask was also there for safe-keeping, and also because it jut made more sense since he was always with her.

They were closer to the building now. Izumi could almost sense it, it also helped that there was absolutely no one who would possibly want to go near it. The complex truly lived up to abandoned.

" I wonder if Vin is here yet," Rina mumbled, breaking the silence while keeping her tone light and volume low. Her green eyes glanced around as the pair found the way in and went inside, but only after checking to make sure no one had followed or was watching them.

Izumi had done nothing but shrug his shoulders and shake his blonde head at her before replying in his emotionless tone of voice, " Who knows.."

The saw mill was cut in half, but the girl got away. Turning around Zane walked and picked up the cape, attaching it behind his head, the red haired male disappeared. Jumping over the buildings as he made his way back, he knew that Usui might scold him for failing to kill the girl. Stopping in an alley way he looked to see a girl walking his way, he was holding onto the wall, sweat was coming from his brow. As she passed under him, Zane dropped. His mask off, hand over the mouth; he backed away into a corner. “Please don’t, please,” she pleaded with him, he could see tears falling down her cheeks. “Sorry girl but it’s my price,” his voice was soothing as he said it.

He knew what the girl was thinking of, it was a possibility but he wouldn’t; he just wasn’t that messed up. Licking the girl’s neck a couple times, he heard a muffled cry for help. Sinking his teeth, and sucking the blood, he was keeping under control, and took the amount necessary for him. As a small amount seeped out from the two punctured holes, he licked it getting rid of the blood from her neck; the girl slumped up in his hands as she passed out. “Well that settles that,” he said before climbing up and going back to his two accomplices.

Stepping right at the door he opened it, and took off his mask looking at the cat and girl. A faint trace of blood was left on his lips, which Zane didn’t know about. Faint swaying of his hair happened when he took the mask off. Sniffing he smiled at the two of them, “guess someone got a bath.”

"You lost her," Lyra said, cocking her head to the left and watching Zane with dark coal eyes. "What a waste."

Usui was shaking his damp fur, an aggravated expression in his amber eyes. "You lost her?" he growled, tail lashing. "What did she look like? Did you get a glimpse of her face?"

"Kitty has been fretting about you the whole time you were gone," the little blonde said, grabbing the feline's tail, who screeched and clawed at her hand. Blood tricked down her fingers. She released the tail and examined her bleeding hand. "There isn't any more Pocky," she said with a childish frown. Her head tilted the other way as she watched her hand, almost mesmerized by the blood. Lyra brought her hand to her mouth and licked the blood on her index finger. "You can smell blood, right, Zane? You gave that girl a cut. Why not follow her scent?"

===

Vin dropped in through the roof of the complex just as she heard footsteps below. Identifying the low voices of Rina and Izumi, she trotted down the stairs and met them in the living room. "We've got a problem," she said immediately, dropping into a crouch and leaning her elbows on her thighs. She rubbed her sore arms, which were covered in her delicate tattoos. "On my way here I ran into a contractor. I don't think he was rouge, maybe working for MI-6 or the Japanese Police. Then again, I wouldn't be surprised if he was working for the Syndicate either..." She frowned at the thought.

The Syndicate had given her trouble when she had first come to Tokyo so long ago. For a little less than a year she worked for them, doing their dirty work, but never allowing them to know her true identity; the mask she now wore as leader of The Dolls was the very mask she wore when at work for the Syndicate. But would that strange contractor be working for them? It was a good guess, but guessing wasn't something that was going to help her defeat the enemy.

"Anyways," she continued, icy gaze flickering between her two younger companions. "I had a brief scramble with the contractor, male I think. I went back and got my wires on the way back here. I also had a run in with the police..." Vin rubbed her bleeding cheek. Although contractors didn't have emotions, self-anger was written on her face. "I managed to get a good cover up and all so we're ok... Anyway, I don't think we should hit until nightfall tonight. Sounds good?" The redhead pulled out the small rubber ball in her pocket, bounced it three times, and stowed it away once more.

Zane looked at the blood coming from the scratch that Usui gave to Lyra; he was agitated to what the cat did to the girl. He never liked to see the girl hurt and he would make sure that the cat would pay for it. Listening he gave her a smile, “well Lyra it may seem easy, but it’s not. I already paid my Remuneration which masked the girl’s scent of blood, and I also needed to smell it directly. Also your blood now has masked the smell to a point that I can’t smell it anymore.” He glared at Usui as he finished, he flicked his red hair back as he walked over to Lyra, and the cat.

Zane began imaging seeing the girl when he first stopped her. Sitting beside Lyra, he spoke, “she had red hair, a slender, yet skinny body. Her eyes were icy blue and she had a lightly bronzed fair complexion. She had a gorgeous face. Later when I tried fighting her, she used sharp strings that made me keep my distance from her.” Zane looked up thinking of anything else that was worth mentioning. Not thinking of anything, he asked, “So you’re going to tell her description to the syndicate.”

Turning to Lyra, he looked at the girl smiling he spoke, how about I’m going to get changed alright?” Not waiting the yellowed eye boy got up and walked toward the bathroom. Changing back to his usual cloths, Zane looked at himself, eyeing the beast he had become. He liked the usual cloths he wore; they felt comfortable against his skin. Stepping out, his hair was let loose the, two braids were out, wearing a ponytail he looked at his two companions. “Lyra do you want to go out and get some ice cream?”

Lyra frowned upon realizing that what Zane was saying was true. "Fooey..." She gave Usui a little push away from her; he gladly bounded away out the window to be of some use. The blonde doll returned her attention as he described the girl. Red hair, slender but skinny, blue eyes, fair complexion, strings to battle. It wasn't a lot to remember, and she could easily call the Syndicate while Zane was changing. Now that she thought about it, the girl he described sounded familiar. Had the Syndicate mentioned someone such as her? As Zane disappeared, the doll leaned over and recovered a cellphone from under one of the floorboards. The Syndicate was on speed-dial. Lyra hummed quietly to herself as she awaited someone to pick up.

"Good afternoon," came a masculine voice. "The weather sure is nice today."

"Yes, I do hope the stars will be out tonight," Lyra immediately responded. It was a code phrase, one that would confirm that she was of the Syndicate. "I have information. Can you put a description to a face?" Her voice remained level as she spoke.

There was a pause, faint tapping as if someone was typing, and then the voice re-appeared, answering, "Try me."

The blonde doll repeated the description Zane had given her, also adding in some information about the girl that she remembered from seeing through the observer spirit. Moments later, the man had a number for her: BK-109, who was said to have appeared in the sky eight years ago. Lyra tilted her head and hung up the phone. Zane reappeared soon after. She looked up at him, impassive. "Icecream sounds nice." She popped up to her feet and examined her cut hand, which was still bleeding lightly. "Her number is BK-109, and I'm pretty sure she was a member of the Syndicate a couple years earlier." Lyra lifted her hand up to the level of Zane's mouth and looked at him with what appeared to be an almost curious expression.

" What?" Shock was evident on Rina's face and she barely glanced at Izumi for a moment before her green eyed gaze was back on Vin. " I mean, it sounds good if we don't do anything until night. The darkness will cover us well.." The white haired girl let go of Izumi's hand, finally, and moved to the small makeshift table by the boarded up window. She dug around in her black messenger bag she always carried and pulled out a full water bottle and a small container, placing the container on the table and pouring a small amount of water into it. Izumi was at her side in a second, ready to keep watch outside for them, and placing the tips of his fingers in the water.

Rina screwed the lid back on the water bottle and returned it to her bag, which she placed on the ground by Vin, before she moved to stand in the doorway of the room. She crossed her pale arms and allowed a few moments of silence before she spoke, " So, what's the plan going to be?" Rina turned to face Vin, her eyes only interested in the help the knowledge would be to their mission.

Izumi, as usual, said nothing as he stared blankly ahead of himself. He was watching things they couldn't see, far and near all at once. Izumi, the doll of The Dolls.

Shiki looked up from his window, crust on his eyes as he rubbed it out. The boy had chess board on the ebony coffee table, each was in its place, the piece would represent varies pawns in his game. He took a sip of green tea made, the rich flavor was what he needed and he relished in it. Yawning, the boy was wearing a black shirt with a pair of worn blue jeans. A white rose necklace hung down as he ate a sugar cube. The boy was bored, and needed something to satisfy him.

Walking down the street, wearing his tattered blue jeans that were fading to gray and a white T-shirt, Shiki was looking for something to occupy himself with. He moved through an alley way to find a girl lying unconscious, he moved toward her, two holes were in her neck. Taking out his phone, he dialed the police, told them about her and left. The work was probably of a contractor but he didn’t have time to lolly around all day he needed to take care of something’s. The savage that killed the girl would be another piece in his game, or maybe the savage was already a piece?

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Nodding along to what Lyra said, Zane wonder what BK-109’s name was. He looked at Lyra’s hand, her it was bleeding still. His eyebrows drew together in a frown, is she testing me to see if I’ll suck her blood, he thought. Taking out of his pants pocket was a band-aid; he wrapped it around the girl’s cut and gave her a friendly smile. She didn’t know how lucky that Zane hadn’t sucked her blood at that moment. Though he would never do that to her, she was like a little sister to him. “Well let’s get going,” Taking his arm he brought it around the girl’s waist and led her outside.

During the walk he showed Lyra a places nearby, he knew that she didn’t express feelings but that did not stop him from showing the girl a good time. While outside, he wondered how the two of them looked to people that they passed, in his view it was a big brother taking his little sister out for ice cream but he knew that others would think that the two were together. Viewing at his friend, he realized that he didn’t know her real age. He always guessed that it was 14.

Bringing Lyra to the ice cream shop, Zane looked at all the prices, and knew that he had the money to pay for anything that the girl wanted. Gazing at her, he said,” what flavor ice cream do you want?” He didn’t know what the girl liked; she was a mystery to him, as all dolls were. He had let go of the girl while taking a few steps forward to read the flavors that they had, he knew which flavor ice cream he would choose, strawberry.

Lyra’s expression remained impassive as Zane wrapped the band-aid around cut hand. Any girl of her young age would have probably smiled or shown some sort of gratitude, but the doll just examined her hand blankly. It was clear that she didn’t feel pain; it was almost clear that she didn’t feel practically anything. Although every now and then she’d frown or focus on a specific thing, her emotion variety was a little pathetic. However, seeing how Zane clearly had exceptional feelings for the little blonde, it wouldn’t have been so surprising if she turned out to have more emotions than she led on.

Humming a little tune, she allowed him to steer her down the street towards the ice cream shop. Although partially curious as to why he led her along the way he did, arm around her waist, Lyra didn’t appear at all bothered. Several people glanced at them as they passed, but she could have cared less what others thought. Zane’s voice seemed to pull her out of a daydream. She stared at the flavors blankly.

“Blueberry,” she said, cocking her head to the left as she always did when something was on her mind. “Usui is missing out on the ice cream,” she murmured, almost appearing upset. “Maybe he found the girl you think is sexy.” Lyra looked up at Zane, impassive, then at the lady who was handing her the ice cream-cone. The woman appeared startled and perhaps a little confused.

The redhead moved to sit Indian style on one of the dusty armrests of an armchair. “I’m sorry,” Vin said after a long pause. She ran a hand through her shaggy locks. Whether or not her apologizing features were legit or not was a mystery, but the blank look in her icy blue eyes were enough to show that her mind was on something else. “Night time is better now that another contractor knows what I look like. “Maybe we can shake up the Police?” she added with a frown.

Thoughts of the contractor kept popping into her head. Now that she thought about it, hadn’t there been an observer spirit eyeing her from one of the broken mirrors? Vin rubbed her wound, deep in thought. What doll did she know that used mirrors as a medium? She couldn’t put a name to a face. And then again, she’d never been good with remembering names.

“I’d definitely like to take out a policeman or two. Or three. They took a big blow when we killed off the Police Chief’s husband a couple days back. Maybe we can do something like that again.”

" When the darkness can hide you it truly is the best time." Izumi said quietly, not really talking to the two girls but more to himself. He always seemed to worry if Rina was included in these plans, and she always was.

Ignoring Izumi, Rina nodded at the redhead. She shook her long hair, some of it choosing to cascade over her shoulders in front of her, while keeping her green gaze on Vin. " That's a good idea," she agreed, considering this. " And policeman or a policeman's relative? Last time it was a relative and not an actual member of the police.." She paused for a moment of thought before continuing, her voice as thoughtful as ever. " The time before was an important member of the authorities."

Her eyes were fastened on Vin's wound, which the other girl wouldn't leave alone. It was starting to give Rina the strange shivers she often got around the contractor. Finally, she spoke up.

" Can you stop rubbing that please? You're kind of freaking me out again."

Vin glanced over at Izumi. The young blonde boy, although more attached to Rina, had always been like a little brother to her. If she could have been disappointed that he was a doll, she would have. A boy like him seemed so delicate. And although she believed that the dolls and contractors were the future of the human race, seeing him like he was, so emotionless, almost hurt her.

"Whoever you can get your hands on, I don't care. Just be careful and make sure to wear your masks. My identity has probably already been uncovered, but that would be to only one Contractor. That is, unless he is a member of the Syndicate or MI-6. Anyways, Rina, is there anyway that you can fake some sort of accident and get into the Police headquarters? I'm sure you'd have enough time since it's only, eh, a little past noon. Izumi, it'd be great if you could keep an eye on both of us, but keep your observer spirit out of our sights. If something happens, have your observer spirit appear in our line of vision. That can be the signal if one of us is in trouble."

The redhead paused, eyebrows furrowed in concentration. "I should be fine unless I run into that contractor again. Unless I look like I'm going to die, don't appear to Rina, alright?" she added to the child.

Her attention turned back to Rina as she commented on her wound. Vin tilted her head, watching the younger girl. Sometimes she forgot that the girl was not a contractor and could, in fact, be bothered by emotions that she didn't have to deal with. She dropped her hand away from her cheek. Her attention now turned to the twins, who'd been hiding in the corner of the room, crouching on the vintage dresser. "Locke, come with me; since you look absolutely nothing like me, you can pretend to me by boyfriend. Puck, go with Rina; pretend to be her big brother."

The twins, silent as always, nodded their heads in approval.

[[until the person who filled out for the male contractor in the dolls fixes what I asked, I'll be controlling the character(s). They're going to me identical twins, 18, named Locke and Puck. Their abilities are Illusions (Puck, who can make illusions appear before you so he can kill you before you know you're in an illusion) and Absorption (Locke, who can touched something, ex: steal, and his body will become that heavy as well as strong/powerful). I'll post a picture of them in the OOC later.]]

Izumi turned his head toward Vin and blinked slowly to show he had heard and understood, his hand still in the small container with the tiny amount of water. " Of course," his quiet voice responded as he tilted his head slightly to look at her directly. " Don't appear unless one of you is in trouble," he repeated, " otherwise keep my observation ghost out of sight."

Rina nodded to her orders, a small look of confusion on her face as she tried to work out a quick plan in her mind already. " I'm sure I can handle coming up with something." The white haired girl murmured quietly as her green eyes shot toward the twins; Locke and Puck. Puck, the one with the dirty blonde hair, looked back at her with an expression akin to vague amusement written on his face.

" W-wait..?" Rina said hesitantly, not wanting to undermine Vin's authority. She knew what the twins' remuneration was but didn't know if they had a set timeframe for it; this thoguht worried her. " Um, what about their obeisance?" She asked, her cheeks turning a light pink as she avoided outright asking yet another question. " What I mean to say," she continued, clearing her throat as she directed this at the pair in question. " is there a timeframe you have to complete it?" Despite having had worked with the two for some time now she still didn't know all that much about them.

Once an Item has been created, it can be spawned in the IC using /spawn Item Name (case-sensitive, as usual) — this can be followed with /take Item Name to retrieve the item into the current character's inventory.

Mobs

Give your Universe life by adding a Mob, which are auto-replenishing NPCs your players can interact with. Useful for some quick hack-and-slash fun!

Mobs can be automated spawns, like rats and bats, or full-on NPCs complete with conversation menus. Use them to enhance your player experience!

By marking a character as abandoned, you can offer them to your players as pre-made character sheets.
