HEIGHT
      Short and delicate.

WEIGHT
Perhaps a strong wind could knock her over.

HAIR COLOR
As dark as the night she lives in.

EYE COLOR
      A brilliant sea of blue.

SKIN TONE
      Light and clear, like vanilla.

GENERAL APPEARANCE
Oh, Yue, so many things and yet not enough words to describe her. She is both small and frail, weak and pitiful, yet her eyes can smolder with enough hate to reduce the world to ashes. Her dark hair is usually worn long and and in ringlets, and she enjoys sweaters and hoodies and often wears the color blue. Yue had always been a weak weedy sort, easy to step on and forget, and her habit of silently taking it doesn't help. A pathetic little girl, most people would see her then forget as their minds go to the next thing in their lives that they have to waste time thinking about. An unremarkable sad girl, only spectacular for the hate she hides in her heart.

PERSONALITY
A neglected child? An abused child? A betrayed child? Yue was all three put together in one sad tiny little package, incapable of anything but welling in her own powerlessness. You can step on her and she'll silently accept the punishment. You can break her fingers and she'll shut her eyes and pretend it didn't happen. You can leave her locked in a room for days and she won't make a peep. Learning long ago that trying to fight only makes it worse, Yue knows very much that it's best to be silent, to be seen and not heard and sometimes not even seen. Just give it all up and pretend nothing's wrong. Let go of all the pain.

Except of course it isn't that easy, is it? The pain, the anger, the shame, the hatred, it all seethes and boils, waiting inside her heart for a single opportunity to turn everything upside down. A child smarter than she looks in some ways, and stupider in other ways, she can be dangerous if her feelings are allowed to come to a boil. While on the outside she's calm and silent, you can see her room full of torn up papers, scratched up walls, destroyed stuffed animals lining the floors.

Yue also has a bad habit of clinging to that one nice person who won't hurt her. But it's very hard to find that one person to rely entirely on. Perhaps if there was someone, maybe she could be turned from darkness to light.

LIKES
Destruction | Nothing feels quite as good as breaking things.

Solitude | Alone is safety, alone can't hurt you.

Misery | Seeing other people suffering helps her feel better.

Dreams | You can even be a good little princess rescued by a handsome prince in dreams.

DISLIKES
Yue Fan Xiang | A child who deserves nothing but what she gets.

Humans | They do nothing but hurt and hate and Yue is the same.

Noise | Too much noise hurts her head and makes her withdraw.

TALENTS
Breaking | If it exists, Yue can break it.

Bottling | Yue can keep it in longer than she should.

Singing | Though she hates her voice and doesn't hear the beauty.

FLAWS
Violent | She's learned it as a language.
Unforgiving | Hurt her and she won't forget.
Garbage | How she sees herself.

Passive | Prefers wishing for the world to end then actually doing anything about it.

FEARS
Humans | The root of all evil.

      Herself | She's a human after all.

Fire | The burns on her body are self explanatory.

Friends | Those closest to your heart hurt you the most.

"Walk off the cliff into destiny's death grip."

FAMILY
      Keeper | Gillian Eldriss | 41
      Keeper | Miranda Eldriss | 16
      Keeper | Tyler Eldriss | 19
      Soulmate | Orie Larson | 16

BIO
In the beginning Yue never really knew her parents. Her first memory of them was them begging for Yue to be spared when the local mafia came and stole her away. "Once you pay off your debt, we'll give her back." They claimed. Yue can faintly remember an auction, being dressed up all pretty when finally a man named Gillian Eldriss bought her, a higher up in the city's underworld, a local crime boss with much influence. Yue was put under his care as a new member of the Eldriss family. She was trained in the arts of violence, of control, of fear, of crime. But most of all she was taught to obey, to be pliant, to listen to what anyone said. Because she was a slave, she was made on the bottom of the totem pol and wasn't allowed any reprieve.

Yue always was a dreamy child. She liked to imagine fantastic landscapes and possibilities in her mind. A fellow slave, bought a few years ago, Orie Eldriss nee Larson, was the same and the two easily bonded as they were trained in weaponry and mafia affairs. She was a pretty thing, blonde with a bit of a bust, she was beautiful, like a pale flower in darkness. Sadly they were both on the bottom rung and neither of them were particularly good at hurting others. Every time they messed up, or sometimes even if it wasn't their fault, Gillian or his blood children, Miranda and Tyler, would take it out on Orie and Yue. Orie would always fight back, to yell at Yue to not just sit there and take it when they broke her fingers, stepped on her toes, tickled her for hours straight. But Yue saw how they treated Orie, how it kept escalating the more the screamed, so Yue knew to remain silent. Still, when things went well they were best friends, they were each other's only light in this dark unforgiving world.

At the young age of twelve there was a heist to take out a drug dealer who refused to pay his taxes. Yue was invited on this mission alongside Orie, Tyler, and Miranda. "Dad says if one of you does well, we'll promote you and you'll be blood children too." Miranda informed them. "Only the better one can be set free." Orie and Yue made a pact that day, they promised to both screw up so that one wouldn't have to leave the other. In the end it once the drug dealer was captured and it was time to deliver punishment, Yue decided to free him and let him escape to prove her loyalty to her fellow slave. That was when Orie grabbed her arm, shot the drug dealer to death, and dragged her in front of Gillian, the Keeper, informing him of her betrayal. Orie was thus promoted, and Yue was punished twice as hard for her betrayal.

After that day the girl wouldn't say a word. She silently accepted everything they did to her, and Orie no longer could look her in the eyes either. Even when Orie began punishing her by cutting her tummy she wouldn't look her in the eyes. Everything bottling up, Yue began destroying her room, breaking and clawing at everything to get rid of her will to fight, to bury it down so she won't make the mistake of attacking her family. Because the pain would get worse if she tried to fight.

But one day she had had enough, though. She didn't know how it happened, all she knew was that she shot and killed Gillian Eldriss, the bullet going right through his head. In return the rest of the family punished her extra hard, even after Miranda took her father's position as head of the Eldriss Branch. They punished her and then Orie made the decision. "Let's kill her and dump her in the river." Orie declared. So that was what they did, and Orie was the one who dealt the final blow. Except, of course, she didn't. "Swim to safety, you're free." Orie whispered as she threw the fake dead Yue into the river.

Yue of course didn't know how to swim and knocked her head on the rocks as she tried to stay afloat, drifting off to wherever destiny may take her.

Zinnia twirled a lock of hair around her finger as she waited, hoping that someone was bringing Yue to the lobby as Freya had promised. In a plume of smoke they arrived, Yue shaking, clearly something had happened while they had disappeared. Freya confirmed it, not touching upon what exactly it was, but it was probably not Zinnia's business. "Alright then, let's go Yue, it's nearly dark out now." Zinnia was tired from the long day and she wanted to lay in her bed and rest. Her body hurt more than after the full moon. Zinnia just wanted to relax and perhaps whip up a potion or two, even though she was supposed to be on bed rest. Blithe's tail wrapped around Yue, lifting the girl off of the ground so that she wouldn't have to walk.

"The day is no longer young," Zinnia yawned. "You don't have to tell us what happened,
but I assume Forester had something to do with it?"
Zinnia inquired, "you smell like his office." There was constantly incense burning in the divination teacher's office, right on his desk, the smoke was a form of divination of course, but the scent was oddly distinct. Pine, a bit fruity, but mostly musk. Yue and Rain had the stink all over them. "Do not allow him to shake you up, if you recall, divination is not the most reliable form of magic." Zinnia had stopped twisting her hair around her finger, it was a terrible habit that she never wanted anyone see her perform again. She smoothed out the crease in her otherwise shiny hair and they continued on their way, the crickets already chirping.

"I've decided we can all use a break," Zinnia announced upon reaching the garden. "Tomorrow we will go to the lake," Blithe's tails wiggled excitedly as she set Yue back on her feet, the girl hopefully stable enough now to walk on her own. Zinnia parked her chair and floated out, dinner beginning to prepare itself as soon as they stepped inside. Blithe turned into a small fox and curled up by the fire that leaped into the hearth. "There's a lake, a spot the nymphs showed me that most mages stay away from." Zinnia wouldn't tell Yue why of course as it might scare her, but the creature within the depths was nothing to fear.

In fact, it was rather friendly. Zinnia sat down at the table as the food floated over to them. Her hands trembled slightly, still weak from blood loss as she cut into her food. Blithe, recognizing her Master's weakness, was quick to run over, morphing quickly back into her pink haired self and taking the fork and knife. "I'll feed you," she opted, like a doting Mother. "Rain, take care of your Master." Blithe chided, aware that the bat had no idea how to be a good familiar. "I'm not a child," Zinnia pouted, but opened up her mouth obligingly when Blithe held the food close to her.

Yue wanted to learn divination, even if it meant she was going to have to deal with Forster who clearly didn't want her around. Would it be a challenge? Yes, but Yue was used to being hated. She survived it all her life so far after all. "If he tries funny stuff again, be careful." Rain murmured angrily as they were being taken back, Yue's sore ankle making her hurt so Blithe had to carry her. Rain stomped along side by side, cheeks puffed in anger at her inability to protect. "It's not the most reliable, but it still shows what can happen if the right steps aren't taken." Was it bad that Yue was a little excited when she heard how powerful she may become? She had the ability to either become the most powerful dark witch, or perhaps a very powerful heroic witch. It was obvious which one she wanted, but both were tempting.

Once back home Yue yawned tiredly, still cold but she had gotten used to the permanent chill in her spine. In a way it was almost comforting because it was proof that Rain remained in contract with her. They would be getting a break, visiting the lake and to that Yue frowned. "I don't have any lakewear." Rain giggled, bat wings fluttering as she helped bring food to the dinner table. "I never have clothes." The bat demon said mischievously. "I'm permanently naked!" Because her body was made of magical mist, she could modify it so that she appeared to be wearing clothes as she pleased. Blithe was helping Zinnia, and Rain was happy to spoonfeed Yue, who was exhausted from the trial she had just gone through.

"Zinnia." Right, Yue had never said it yet, had she? "You're so strong. I hope I can be strong like you too." One day she would be able to, that much was for sure - or so she hoped. Rain finished her food and climbed up on Yue's head, making herself small, like a little pet bat, furry and cute. "All three of you are so strong." Yue looked down at her own two hands. What other magics would those hands be able to cast? There was only one way to find out, wasn't there? "I'm going to turn in early tonight, so we can have an early start tomorrow." Yue wobbled her way to her room, Rain quickly shifting back into her humanoid form to help support her weight.

Tucked into bed by her demon, Rain snuggled in right next to her. The blinds were drawn, the dark of their shared room was evident even with the lights on. "Master." Rain grinned, a fang almost glistening in the moonlight. "Aren't you excited? You have so much potential, I knew it!" Yes, even with how tired she was the moon child felt it, the restless bubbling in her gut, the promise of a successful revenge. "Then maybe, just maybe..." There was a lot to learn, but one day, she would find peace in retribution. She shut her eyes, waiting for another dreamless sleep thanks to faithful Rain, who always ate her nightmares away.

Zinnia looked up when Yue referred to her as strong. "That's nonsense," Zinnia shook her head, Blithe moving the fork out of the way. "No one in this world is truly strong or weak," Zinnia replied, "but we can work hard to make ourselves seem so." Was it an admission? Perhaps, Zinnia had never thought of herself as anything special after all. Sure, she received accolades, special attention because of her craftiness, and whatnot, but Zinnia truly did not believe herself to be in a position of power. She was a knowledge seeker, one that was constantly trying to improve her craft. "We all begin our lives on an equal playing field, it's what we decide to do with our lives that set us apart." Blithe waved the food in front of her face and Zinnia opened up her mouth, chewing thoughtfully.

"I was already prepared for your lack of clothing. I purchased you a bathing costume the last time we went to market." Zinnia smiled craftily, "it was easy to guess your size. She waggled her fingers when Yue and Rainarch got up from the table to turn in early. "Goodnight," Zinnia smiled, "don't let the nightmares bite." She watched Yue leave before turning back to Blithe, "now that she's gone, I'm going to put a call in." Zinnia floated from the table, Blithe devouring the rest of Zinnia's uneaten plate. "Don't bother, he's already here." Zinnia nodded, heading out into the garden. He was waiting there in the shadows, his form outlined by the moon. The flowers lit up as Zinnia drifted past them, still wearing her school uniform.

"She's going to kill you," Forester hissed, stepping into the light. Zinnia paused, her hair floating behind her like a raging fire. "Kill me? Yue hardly possess the ability to harbor magic, somehow I doubt she's reason to worry for my safety." Forester's lips turned downwards into a look that did not approve of her passive attitude. "Besides, I've set up the proper measures, no magic passes through these walls without my knowing. I'm not a fool, unlike you who decided to confront her directly." Blithe was standing in the doorway, there was a sword in her hands, the threat made clear. If Forester tried to hurt Yue or Rainarch again, there would be consequences to pay.

The fox mask bared its teeth, changing with his emotions. "Fool, I'm only trying to protect you, White Witch Zinnia." Her eyes glowed in the garden, the flowers bending towards her, as though reaching for the sun. "You're the only fool here. Leave before I set the dryads upon you. You know how they love diviners," he stepped closer to her, Blithe stepping close as well. He had grabbed her wrist, his grip tight enough to leave a mark on her skin. "Zinnia, if you do not listen to me, your life will be in grave danger. Dispose of Yue, or that girl will be the death of you."

Dryads and nymphs appeared from the shadows, their smiles sinister. These were wild beasts, after all, the only reason they got along with Zinnia was because they feared her and her familiar enough to respect her territory, hence the reason they waited jjust outside of her land. "You best take your leave Professor, now." He disappeared in a plume of smoke, leaving the smell of pine and citrus in his wake.

The moon was still in the sky when Yue found herself awake. She felt strange, oddly empty, and confused when she saw how the sky around them was still dark, twinkling with stars. A voice echoed in her head, Forster's reminder of what she could become, and the threat she represented. There was a reason why many didn't want her here, though Freya was doing her best to make sure she was allowed to stay. She stared at the golden band floating around her wrist, encircling it. This would be monitoring any magic she cast - did that include the ever present dark charm Rain gave her to enable her to speak? Then she heard it, the whimpering. "Rain?' Yue glanced at Rainarch who was twitching in the bed beside her, making noises of distress.

"H-hey? Rain, what's wrong?" Yue didn't know what to do. This had never happened before - was it a normal thing for familiars to do? Without even needing to touch the baby witch could feel how cold her familiar was, and how she was sweating up a storm. "No, this is wrong." Today was supposed to be their break to the lake, she didn't want another crisis to hit Rain! It was just like when she contracted that illness, except this time was even more confusing. It was so early and Yue didn't want to bother Blithe and Zinnia but she just had no idea what to do or how to help. "Aaaaah!" Rain gasped in her throes. "Hurts! Aaah!" Pain? She was in pain? Yue grit her teeth, was this just a bad dream? She decided to try to shake her demon awake in a desire to help.

A wave of darkness slashed through the air, slicing at Yue's cheek. She fell back in alarm and Rain jolted up, body stiff, rigid, then she pounced on Yue. For a moment the fog in her red eyes cleared, her bat wings settling. "Yue? Oh! Oh no, Yue, I'm sorry!" Rain was already about to break into tears at the realization. "What happened?" Yue asked, not caring about her new injury. She just wanted her demon to be okay. "Who hurt you?" Rainarch gulped, wings drooping behind her back like a popped balloon would look. "Um. Technically, you?" She wasn't allowed to lie but Rain was doing her best to skirt around the issue.

So Yue caused this somehow. Guilt pounded in her heart - what kind of Master would do this? "Tell me how to fix it, please." Whatever was going wrong, she wanted to fix it together. Rain had an uncomfortable scowl. "No, not that. Um... you know how I eat your nightmares?" Yue nodded, Rain decided it on her own and it helped her manage to get good restful sleeps each night. "The negativity accumulates. Um, since I'm a Teranos, I'm sensitive to the negative energy and it adds up." Rain poked her cheek with a joyless laugh. "So I had a fit similar to what you would have?"

So that was the truth then. "Please don't eat my nightmares anymore." Yue said quietly, a cold shiver running down her spine. "They're my burden, I'll face them on my own." Rain growled, shaking her head. "N-no! It's my job to help! I'll eat them every night no matter what so Master can have her beauty sleep!" Rain yelled this loud enough to wake up the poor Elder Tree in the woods outside.

Zinnia was fast asleep during the ordeal, but Blithe was wide awake, laying beside her Master, who was curled in her arms like a child would with their mother or big sister. She had an embarrassingly childish habit of sucking on her thumb when she was suffering with pain or nightmares. Blithe could sense it of course, but it wasn't her place to interfere. She closed her eyes, hearing the distress in the other room. This was something Master and familiar had to work out on their own, Zinnia wouldn't be able to help them this time. It was sunrise when her Master awoke, her cheeks tinged pink with the tears spilled in her dreams. One of Blithe's tails was wrapped around Zinnia's ankle, reading her pulse and constricting as a sort of weight therapy so that even in her dreams, Zinnia would know that Blithe was there.

"You're here early," Zinnia noted as Blithe helped Zinnia out of the nightgown and carried her to the bath, "you were having nightmares again so I stayed the night." Blithe replied, helping Zinnia by scrubbing her back and brushing out her hair. "You're being awfully doting," Zinnia said as her familiar lifted her out of the tub and wrapped a towel around her. "You had a hard day, a mother can dote on her daughter, can't she?" Blithe joked as Zinnia broke out of her grip and drifted into the bedroom, getting dressed. She placed her swimming equipment on her bed and Blithe began to pack it all up into a bag. "The lake will be a much needed respite for all of us, I think." Zinnia clothed herself and started downstairs, setting breakfast off in the kitchen.

Blithe followed her of course, but went out into the garden to chase a gnome away who was chewing on one of the blossoms. "Yue, Rain, breakfast is ready!" Zinnia called, a cauldron bubbling in the hearth. There was a brew being prepared of course, Zinnia was working on a new potion that might cure warts that were deadly to saplings. She intended to give it to the dryads once it was perfected so that they might see their efforts to plant trees succeed. "It won't be ready by the time we leave," Zinnia bit down on her thumbnail in thought. She floated towards the dining room table, hoping to see that her companions were already there. Blithe returned from chasing the garden gnome, holding on to a pointy red hat. It seemed she had gotten the better of the gnome this morning, she would nail the hat outside as a warning to the others.

"Don't terrorize the neighbors," Zinnia sighed as Blithe settled down, munching on toast with an egg in the middle and a piece of sausage. Even if Zinnia loved all creatures, she was a meat eater. Although it was rare to see it in the house, because it all depended on what was in season and available at the market.

No one was going to help them solve this crisis. Rain looked like she was about to cry like a baby, she didn't want Yue to have to suffer nightmares anymore. Meanwhile Yue felt awful that her burden, her struggle, was being passed onto someone else who didn't need to deal with it. "It's mine, you can't take it. I have to fight it myself." What kind of person was she if she couldn't beat her past? Rain grappled her, nails digging into her shoulders. "But you suffered enough!" Rain cried, not letting ho. The worry was clear, burning on their contract mark. "I want to help! I want my Master healthy and strong!" Yue shivered, the passion was very strong in her familiar. They were almost just like sisters in a way. "But what kind of Master would I be if my partner was sick all the time?"

Rain answered without missing a beat. "A master without nightmares!" This was very important to her, Yue could feel it. Even so, she didn't want to pass this onto someone else to have to suffer through. Her past was her own and no one else's. "The best way to help me is to be at my side when I finally get my revenge." Yue told her, closing her eyes and pressing her face close to her demon's. "And to help me grow strong enough to achieve it." That awful night when Orie decided to kill her - Yue would never forget it. The burning desire for vengeance was strong enough to light all of Constantina ablaze with her will. "Then..." Rain wiped the tears away, fang gnawing into her lip. "Then I have to get you strong enough to defeat that bitch then!" They held hands, at an agreement, though a reluctant one on Rain's part.

The pair came out, Yue already forcibly dressed in her bathing suit given to her by Zinnia as a gift. Of course she was wearing a casual zip up coat on top, leaving her legs mostly bare. There were so many scars and Yue was self conscious of each one. But on the other hand, she was also proud of them, because they were proof that she had survived. Zinnia and Blithe, they wouldn't judge her, would they? "Don't worry." Rain whispered. "Scars are proof of strength! You got some really good ones, like that crescent one on your back!" One scar in particular still hurt every once in a while but Yue hoped it wouldn't bother her today.

Toast and an egg was what would be served for breakfast. After that, they would head out for the lake. "I'm kind of ugly." Yue frowned, staring intently at her food despite Rain calling her 'smoking hot' during the forced changing session. "So don't look to close, okay, Zinnia?" It was still odd that no one could see the magic binding on her wrist but her and Freya - but there was nothing she could do about it. "Will it be cold? I don't like cold water." She shivered again - cold water would be extra awful considering the side effect contracting with Rainarch gave her.

Zinnia glanced at Yue and Rain as the two joined her downstairs. The air smelled of daffodils thanks to the bubbling cauldron. The windows had all been thrown open in an attempt to divert the stifling heat. "Good morning," Zinnia buttered her toast before cutting into it, taking a bite as the yolk spilled across her plate in a burst of orange. The reason she had awoken them so early was so that they might get a head start to the lake. The walk was quite far and Zinnia wanted to arrive before midday. In the kitchen, various dishes and ingredients were flying around, sorting themselves into a picnic basket so that they might eat lunch beside the waters. "Uh-uh," Zinnia scolded, "if you recall, the first rule of witchcraft is confidence, which means no putting yourself down." In an elegant swipe, Zinnia wiped the yolk dribbling down her chin.

"It doesn't matter if your confidence is true, but believe in yourself enough and you might just begin to see it yourself." Zinnia sipped at her morning tea, lemon and peppermint for a shot of energy. "The lake shouldn't be cold, by the time we reach it, it should very well be a pleasant temperature." Zinnia replied, the picnic basket floating over to the door so that they would not forget it on the way out. "It's nice to see and experience new things, especially as a young witch. Eventually, you might become so busy with apprenticeships and studying you won't have time to explore as much as you would have liked." Zinnia placed her teacup down.

"My parents came from a small town, to the north of here. This forest is incredibly large, one of the largest on the planet, so it's quite far from here. They had never left the confines of their home, they were comfortable, which was why they had sent me here, because they were clueless as to what to do with me." She flexed her hand, her wand sliding down into her palm. "Broadening your horizons of course, is essential at any age." She had finished eating, her dishes drifting back towards the kitchen. Zinnia floated towards the cauldron, stirring it twice. A small puff of green smoke came from the pot, the smell overwhelming.

"I think it's about time to take our leave," Zinnia announced, checking the shadows outside to determine the time. "The walk shouldn't take too long if we avoid talking to the creatures on our way." Zinnia settled into her wheelchair and Blithe picked up the picnic basket, hanging it off of the back handles, where the other bag sat with towels and Zinnia's bathing suit.

In response to Yue's dislike for her looks - her lack of curves, her body marred with scars, how she was toned and had muscle rather than being soft and cute, Yue didn't think any of it was attractive. But Zinnia insisted that she was to have confidence because confidence was the first step to being powerful. Apparently if you faked confidence long enough you start to believe in it. "I hope it works that way." Zinnia always seemed to know what she was talking about, she had vast stores of knowledge far beyond anything Yue could ever hope to attain. Still, the moon girl wanted to do her best to try. "Okay." Rain grinned, patting her on the arm. "See? Say it with me! 'I'm super hot and I know it!"

Even the stench of the cauldron was appreciated, and by now Yue was used to strange smells in the house because Zinnia always did enjoy dabbling with potions. Still the heat was strong so it was good to have the windows open to air it out. Food was also being made magically and it was almost a wonder to watch it at work, all the utensils following orders like a well tuned machine. Zinnia assured her that the lake wouldn't be too cold and Yue sure hoped that that was true. It would be a bit of a walk, though. Yue flexed her sore ankle, it wasn't feeling as bad as yesterday. It probably wasn't a break in the end, but it was still tender nonetheless. Rain frowned, Yue could almost see the smoke coming out of her ears as they remembered the confrontation with Forster.

As they started to walk Zinnia spoke about her parents, about how they lived secluded in a small town, and they sent Zinnia here because they didn't know what else to do with their possessed daughter. It was sad, but perhaps it was for the best because Zinnia was thriving here, as Freya's pupil and the star of the University. It was important to know more about the world. "Have I ever told you about my family?" Yue asked, tilting her head. She supposed it was only right that she tell Zinnia the truth about her background. Sure, Zinnia might know a bit here and there but she didn't know the whole story. "I was a part of a mafia... um, a crime group. I was sold and bought into the business." She described what sorts of things the family did, including protection rackets, robberies, torture, even murder in order to stay on top. She even told Zinnia about her best friend and fellow auction child, who ended up betraying her in the end in order to save herself.

On the path to the lake, there was a clear fire in Yue's eyes, already fired up. "I'll pay her back one day." It was a promise, it was etched into her soul. Rain nodded with an oddly determined grin for the silly bat demon. "And I'll help!" It seemed they were getting close now, Yue could smell the lake from here. "I'm a bad person and my hands are stained in blood." She frowned with uncertainty. "But you still took me in and take care of me. I'll never be able to pay you back for all you've done, Zinnia." Rain looked back and forth then grinned. "There is a way! We pay her back by being her friends!" Rain then turned into a misty little bat and landed on Zinnia's head, curling up in comfort.

Zinnia listened as Yue told her tale, patient, only chiming in to ask a question her two. She had, had a hard childhood. "Now, you can move past it all. Revenge is a dish best served as success," it was the only thing that had driven Zinnia to continue in her pursuits was to make her parents hear all about her accomplishments and feel shame in what they had done in sending her away. Or perhaps they would have some sick sense of pride? Zinnia would never know, she hoped she never saw their faces. She wouldn't even know what she would do if they did. Her Mother had always kept her hair short as a child, it was part of the reason she kept it so long, as a protest to her parents. "You already have so much strength, you just need to utilize it in a positive direction." Zinnia's expression was contemplative, they were close to the lake now.

"You have the power now to choose what kind of future you want. Enact revenge and you might never feel happy, but choose to live for yourself and no one else, with no malcontent, and you might find yourself moving on. Or perhaps, even use that drive to fuel you to greatness. It all depends on you, Yue." Zinnia gazed directly into her eyes, perhaps as a reminder that magic was to only be used for good. Should Yue use her magic for evil, the council would know and would break her wand and banish her from Constantina. It was midday when they had at last arrived at the lake. The water glistened, a hidden oasis from the whole world. Crystal blue, the sunshine bearing down on them from the sky. Lily pads danced across the surface, perfectly secluded.

Zinnia began to remove her clothing, Blithe's tails shielding her as she wriggled into her bathing suit. The air was warm, Blithe began to set up for their picnic, spreading their blanket in the grass. "It's peaceful here," Zinnia sighed as she slid out of her chair and settled onto the blanket. Strapped to her thigh was her wand, the tip pointed downwards. Witches never went anywhere without their wands, not even swimming. Zinnia slept with it underneath her pillow, in case she ever needed to protect herself while asleep. Did she have any enemies in particular? No, but one could never be too safe. Their lunch consisted of sandwiches and juice that tasted bright and fruity.

Once that was done with, it was time to swim. "There is one thing you should know about this lake," the reason it was so secluded. "At the bottom is a creature that frightens many, but it is rather friendly." Zinnia smiled mysteriously and stood on shaking legs. One of Blithe's tails slid around her Master, "let's go swimming!" She cheered, walking towards the water, which was cool on their skin. Zinnia floated on top of the surface, basking in the sunshine. "Come on Yue, we don't have all day."

As Zinnia spoke, a phrase from her first day here in Constantina floated back into consciousness. Something about how magic was only to be used for good, and never for evil. Despite her colorful history, Yue was never someone who believed that good and evil existed, only that people were selfish and tended to do things for selfish reasons. She glanced timidly at Zinnia, a part of her wanting to discuss how the world was just full of shades of grey but another part of her wasn't sure because it might be seen as defying her teacher. Zinnia was just trying to help show her the ropes, teach her what every witch should know. "People disagree about good and evil all the time." Yue said softly, that was all she would say on the topic. "I won't ever use magic to hurt someone who doesn't deserve it."

The lake was stunning to say the least. Yue pressed her toes into the shimmering water, shuddering at the cold. Didn't Zinnia say it wasn't going to be too bad by the time they arrived? Maybe she was just extra sensitive to the cold thanks to Rain? "It's incredible." Zinnia and Blithe were already getting in. Rain smiled in anticipation, ready to help out. Apparently there was a scary yet friendly thing at the bottom of the lake. What could it be? Yue wasn't sure if she wanted to find out. "Let's go to the bottom of the lake and see." Rain said with a mischievous flicker in her eyes. "Come on! I'll protect you if anything happens!" Despite the mishap this morning it seemed the bat demon was doing good now, back to her usual energetic self. Sometimes the rambunctiousness tired Yue out but still, a lively Rain was a happy Rain.

The moon girl timidly stripped off her zip up hoodie, then climbed into the water. "It's cold!" She cried, hugging herself. She didn't really know how to swim, she never needed to know but she knew the basics so that she wouldn't drown. Still, her movements were clumsy. Zinnia was relaxing as she sunbathed on the surface and Yue still couldn't help but admire the fragile beauty that was Zinnia. "Come on, let's go! Um, here, first." Rain waved a finger and then a bubble appeared in front of Yue's mouth. "It's an oxygen bubble so you can breathe underwater. Don't worry, it's nature magic." So Freya wouldn't get on their case about it. Yue dove into the water then, following her familiar's lead with reluctance.

Getting away from the brightness of the surface, the light grew dimmer and dimmer as they swam towards the bottom. Yue spied strange watery creatures on the way. "There are fish and other aquatic fauna here that don't exist in your mundane human world." Rain told her as Yue stared at the seven legged seahorse with a bird's beak swam by, snootily ignoring the giants disrupting it's day. Her wand was twinkling in her belt's strap, did it also enjoy being in the water?

And then Yue reached the bottom. And then she screamed at the scary thing as Rain giggled like mad.

Zinnia floated atop the lake, hair splayed in a halo around her head. Blithe was drifting on an inflate circle, reading a book in old Latin. This was the life, the time of year that Zinnia thoroughly enjoyed and hoped would last forever. Water splashed beside her and with a sigh, Zinnia knew that the anarchy duo were up to no good. Who knew what mischief they were sticking their noses into? Zinnia wasn't certain she even wanted to know. She was going to turn a blind eye, but she knew better than to leave those two to their own devices. "I'm going to check on them," Blithe looked up from her book and nodded. "I'll be here, reading," Zinnia nodded and pulled out what appeared to be seaweed from her bathing suit top. She had brought this in case of an emergency, it was a good thing she had as it seemed Yue was going to make trouble.

Zinnia pinched the bridge of her nose and swallowed it whole, gills appearing on the side of her neck. A web appeared between her fingers and toes and she dove beneath the surface, able to breathe easily so long as she could move. The light was sparse in these parts of the waters, where the creature lurked. It preferred darkness and the anonymity of living in a lake that few knew the location of. Zinnia pulled her wand out of its holster and cast a spell, a small orb of light appearing in front of her and following her down, lighting her way. "Those two, what are they doing?" She murmured, bubbles drifting from her mouth. Zinnia tucked her wand back into its holster and landed on the lake floor, seaweeds that were taller than her swaying to and fro as the creature snorted, asleep.

"What are you two up to?" Zinnia inquired, knowing she had only a half of an hour before the seaweed used up its life and she would need to return to the surface in order to take in air once more. "I do hope you aren't disturbing my friend, Lolly." The creature opened one eye, then the other, its orbs glowing in the low light. It nudged Zinnia with its nose, the witch petting its snout. "Lolly, these are Yue and Rainarch, Yue, Lolly, Lolly Rain." Zinnia made introductions, the creature lazily gazing up at the two, seemingly uninterested. "Lolly is a Septamus," a type of creature that shouldn't belong on the human plane, but existed nonetheless. He was a type of low class water demon, no doubt summoned here by a curious mage and abandoned. Typically, they remained the size of goldfish, but this one in particular had thrived and swelled to the size of a small whale.

Lolly breathed out, bubbles rising from its snout in the direction of the two mischief makers. The creature was spectacular, with scales that appeared to be holographic. Its body was smooth, its neck long and fins elegant. It had a long tail as well as ears that were floating lazily upwards. It nuzzled Zinnia once more, who smiled and stroked its snout. A friend to all creatures, that's what it meant to be a good mage. Whether it was predominantly good or bad wasn't for her to decide. "If anyone else finds out about this lake, about Lolly, no doubt they would slay him."

Yue stared at what appeared to be a creature big enough to kill her just for existing. What the hell was this, it didn't look like anything she had ever seen before at earth? This creature sure was just as terrifying as Zinnia prepared her for, so much that she let out an embarrassing scream. Rain was cackling though, was there something funny? "Your scream was very funny." Rain said, holding her sides that were no doubt in agony after the incident. It had a big red eye that kept on staring her, illuminated by the orb of light cast by Rain, held delicately in her left palm. The water shifted behind her, there was Zinnia who had come to join them, no doubt not wanting the two to get into any trouble.

According to Zinnia the creature had a name, it was named Lolly and was a Septamus. "Don't worry, I wasn't gonna hurt it." Rain promised, wagging her wings cheerfully. "I just wanted to see Yue's reaction, promise!" Yue gave the creature a timid wave, not sure how to react. This entire situation was just so strange to her, though it wasn't her first time seeing strange alien creatures. This brought her misadventure in the in between realm back to mind, when the praying mantis demon tried to eat her soul. Unlike him, the moon child did not sense any hostility from the sea monster, it's eye was gazing with a sort of curiosity as it's snout wiggled in response to Zinnia's patting. "How are you like that?" Yue asked in wonder when she realized that Zinnia looked less like Zinnia and more like a humanfrog crossbreed version of Zinnia, except frogs didn't have gills, did they? "It's magical seaweed, lasts half an hour." Rain explained with a roll of her eyes.

"Um, hello, Lolly." Yue held her foot out until Rain slapped it away. "No! That's rude, feet are for the ground and dirt. Use your hand, this is a majestic creature." Majestic, was it really? If Rain said so then it must be true. Yue swam down awkwardly, hips wiggling because she was not used to swimming and then she stroked the side of the snout just like Zinnia did. It's eye closed lazily as she did so - was this a good thing? "It likes it. Master, you should pet me, too!" Yue smiled and then swam back to Rain's side, patting her on the head, soggy black hair looking like a cloud of dark mist around her demon's head.

Was the magical world just filled with odd creatures? Yue sure hoped so because it wouldn't be bad to explore more. Witches and wizards were supposed to be friends of all living creatures. Yue wasn't sure how truly she could do that, she wasn't the friendliest of people. A part of her was giddy, wanting to start to learn magic. Would she have learned enough to earn Ulrich's recommendation into the university? "Hey, no thinking business, this is a break." Rain told her with a shake of a head. "Zin, can we go have snacks now?" Rain patted her belly which definitely growled despite just having eaten for breakfast.

Lolly was doing an odd thing, and Zinnia was more than happy to interpret for the strange sea creature. Septimus, it was called a septimus and it was something both majestic and terrifying but ultimately a harmless thing. It wanted her to get on it. Yue frowned, a little hesitant. What could it want from her getting on? What was going to happen? "Just do it." Rain said with a giggle, compacting her mist body to fit neatly into Yue's wand holster on her belt that she kept on at all times. She nodded - if both Zinnia and Rain thought it was safe then she would board the ship. Her mentor was already on, waiting for Yue to follow up. "O-okay." She stammered, unsure what to expect. The surface was slimy and odd, but entirely expected as well.

Then with a rush of movement Lolly began doing it's trick, rushing up to the surface with a boost of incredible speed. Yue shut her eyes, clinging hard to the dorsal fin in terror that she might lose her grip on the creature's back. Like a whale, Lolly jumped out of the water, Yue squealing as she clung, the motion exhilarating and terrifying all at once. "This is great! Are you having fun too, Master?" Yue wasn't sure if she was having fun or not but at least she knew that it was exciting. Eventually the trick ended and Lolly gave them a satisfied sort of look with its gigantic eyes. Yue followed Zinnia's suit, releasing her iron grip on the fin, checking her bikini to make sure - oh no, her top had fallen off! "Uh-uhmm..." Yue fell silent, not sure what to do now.

"Oh come on, it's easy, it's a simple Accelo spell." Rain rolled her eyes. She helped put the silver wand into Yue's hands. "Think of the object, then say Accelo. If it's in range, the object will return to you." Yue did as instructed, shutting her eyes and imagining her bikini top. "Accelo." She felt a cold feeling in her hand as the mana dispersed through the wand and suddenly out of the water as if it were a jumping fish, her bikini top returned to her. Rain helped put it on with a snap and triumphantly aided Yue back to the shore. It was snack time now, afterall, Rain's favorite time of day!

"It was... it was..." Yue opened her eyes, revealing the flush of thrill still hot on her cheeks. "It was so fast! It was so strange! It was exciting!" Yue exclaimed, feeling almost like a child, losing herself for a moment. The tea cakes and lemonade was distributed for everyone and Blithe mentioned this one a rare moment where Zinnia got to laugh. Yue was glad - her mentor looked so serious all the time that the rare moment of her enjoying herself like a child was gold to Yue. "I almost peed because it was fast." Rain admitted with a wiggle. Yue gave her an odd stare. "Pee? But you're a mist demon, you don't pee." Rain grinned sneakily. "Yes, that's why it was almost."

She gazed down into her cup of lemonade, swirling the bits of pulp around before taking an elegant sip. Zinnia's hands were shaking once more, after all, it took a lot of energy to swim. Healthy bodies like Yue's often did not realize how every little movement came at a cost. It was the curse Zinnia had lived with her whole life, the curse for having too much mana. It did not come without its benefits, she had endless stores, could cast spells at complex levels that many adult mages couldn't perform, and was able to meet some incredible witches. It also meant that Zinnia was inexpressibly forbidden from leaving Constantina, as she was under the constant care of both Freya and Madame Pomfrey. Their constant presence in her life was a small comfort. Blithe too, who was always by her side, doing things for Zinnia without ever being asked or told.

"All work and no play makes Jim a dull boy." Zinnia looked up at the sky, her heart feeling full. "I always knew I was different, my parents once called me an emotionless monster, all cold calculations and serious equations. It's because I never had friends, I don't have the same... social exposure." Always kept isolated as a child, her parents afraid of her curse, of the markings on her stomach in what almost seemed like white ink. The White Witch, the Gate Keeper, there Fire Haired Mage. All nicknames she had obtained throughout the years. "By the time I moved to Constantina, it was too late." Once more her smile was small, polite more than anything. "I'm uncertain as to how one can genuinely express joy."

Blithe's arms wrapped around her, warm and wet. "Gross, release me!" She yelped, goosebumps rising on her skin. Blithe giggled, only nuzzling her further. "No, you're shivering," it was true, she had been shaking slightly during her admission. "I'm only cold," Zinnia lied, but Blithe could tell. "We all have someone or something we want to care about. Zinnia had me, but I'm a demon. As you may have noticed, our social situations are a bit different than the humans." Blithe's tails swished to and fro, the fox having long become Zinnia's protector, foster mother, and guiding post. "I'm sure you can probably tell with Rain, at our best, we resort to light violence. A good natured spanking," she winked, one of her tails thwaping Rain over the head.

"Anyhow, there's still plenty of daylight, we should take advantage of it." Zinnia placed her cup down, meaning to rise if her familiar would release her. Instead, Blithe's tails suddenly traveled up and down her sides. "What are-Blithe!" Zinnia shrieked, this sensation unfamiliar. "I saw a human mother doing it to her child and it made him laugh! Yue, Rainarch, help me!"

Zinnia decided to open to up them about how she lacked emotions, or at least that was what people thought of her. Yue was quiet, listening to her story. Zinnia was very rare to talk about herself and Yue wanted to get closer to her because she thought it would be good if they were closer, if Zinnia could loosen up. Not that Yue had very much of a social life either - she spent most of her life in fear of having to commit evil or have evil committed unto her. But in the end she still had more than Zinnia because she did spend time with Orie, growing close enough to consider each other soulmates - at least until the betrayal at least. It would be good if Zinnia could also join in on her and Rain's shenanigans.

Yue and Rain exchanged a look and it was obvious that they were thinking the same thing here. Yue would never have been able to be this expressive if it wasn't for her demon, Rain's influence. At first the moon child was just a terrified little thing that shook at everything as if it were about to kill her. But then she met Rain, who was scary in the beginning, but grew into both a playmate and a fellow explorer of the magical world with her. Before they could enact their plan Blithe took action first, enveloping Zinnia in a hug, something Zinnia did not seem to understand. "It's a hug!" Rain exclaimed just in case Zinnia did not know what it was. "Yue taught me what it was, she does it to me too much." Yue shot her a look. "Admit it, you like it when I do." Rain giggled guiltily, wings fluttering. "Yes... maybe..."

The hug turned into what Yue recognized as a tickling torture. Rain flinched, having been a victim of this at Yue's hand in the past, she could only look with sympathy. "It's tickling, it's a human thing." Yue remembered it being used, both as play and as legitimate torture. "Stop, that's just cruelty!" Rain cried, trying to pull Blithe off of Zinnia. "It's proof that humans are evil incarnate!" Eventually the fox demon stopped her torment and Zinnia was freed from the tickles. How else did Yue know that mist demons couldn't urinate? It was from a tickle fest, of course!

What was a fun game they could force on Zinnia and Blithe to get both of them in on the silliness? The anarchy twins had the exact same idea. Rain picked Zinnia up, folding her into her misty wings, becoming a bat and Yue hopped on. "We're kidnapping her now, so you'd better catch us Blithe!" Yue declared, the bat demon flying off into the foggy forest that surrounded the lake in mystique. They fled deep, wanting to make the chase fun, not knowing about the threat of the Scalpers, strange fae folk that liked to kidnap those who strayed too far into the fog in order to trap them in an eternal tea party where the victims eventually forgot themselves because the tea tastes too good.

"Stop, stop it Blithe, I command you!" Rather than release her, the demon only worked harder and when Zinnia was red in the face and thought she could take no more, Blithe at last relented to the please of Rainarch, who was begging her fellow demon to release her Master. Able to breathe once more, Zinnia was glad the torture had ended. She gasped for air, returning to her normal pallor. "Don't ever do that again!" She commanded as she hid her face behind her hands, mortified at the sounds that she had made and the color she had nearly soiled the picnic blanket with. When Zinnia had at last calmed down, she was ready to return to the water. She felt to make sure her wand was still in its holster and propped herself up on her elbows. "Let's enjoy the rest of the day in relative pea-"

Suddenly Rain grabbed Zinnia underneath the arms and Yue jumped onto the bat's back, the three of them lifting into the air. "Where are you transporting us?" Zinnia inquired as they zipped off. She groaned, she should have known the two would have been up to no good. "This is dangerous, we should return to the beach." Zinnia tried, knowing that they were beyond the point of listening to her. It seemed that the demon and human duo were completely in sync, in fact, and instead of taking her advice and returning to the lake, they trekked deeper into the fog, a shiver escaping her bikini clad form. "Rainarch, cease this at once." Zinnia attempted to demand, although she did not hold the same power over Rain as she did Blithe.

With a sigh, Zinnia shook her head. "You should know-" she began, moving her head so as not to hit a tree branch. "That I cannot hold my own weight up for very long." Zinnia felt herself begin to slip, the reason she spent most of her time sitting was due to the muscle weakness after all and attempting to hold herself up made her feel tired. Even now, Zinnia was beginning to drift off, losing control of her body and becoming a dead weight. She needed to stay awake, if she slipped off now, there was no telling what sort of trouble they would get into now. "Frillescious," Zinnia quickly murmured, casting a tracking spell for the sake of her familiar.

Already Blithe was hot on their tail, having abandoned their belongings on the beach to go after her master in the mist. It was dangerous in these parts of the woods, although there was no way for Yue and Rain to tell, as the folk who lived in these parts concealed themselves rather well, living in the trees and bushes, hiding around every dark nook and cranny. They were dangerous, crafty, and easy to fall for if one didn't know what to look out for. Blithe could bet her bottom dollar that those two were clueless and that by now, her Master would be too exhausted to keep up.

Rain and Yue giggled as they flew into the foggy woods, where the path forward was obscured by the white curtain covering the canopy, making it harder to see where you were going. They wanted Zinnia to become more playful, to better learn how to express joy by having playmates who would be silly with her and play games. After Zinnia had made her confession of her sad past, Yue and Rain wanted to rectify it by socializing her and getting her used to the silliness. Not as an outsider but as someone participating in the silly antics. "Hang on, one second." Rain morphed her body to form a chair shape for Zinnia to sit in, strapping her in safely so she wouldn't accidentally fall off. "There, is that better? Sorry, this is my first time being your travel agent."

This was dangerous? What could possibly be dangerous about a fun adventure like this? Yue thought Zinnia was just being silly. "Rain and you and Blithe know a lot of magic." Yue said with a grin on her face, she couldn't wait to see Blithe's exasperation as she tried to get her master back. "What danger could beat that?" Other than the Barons of course. There were rumors even before Yue became a witch, that demons prowled the Earth, but she herself hadn't seen any of it with her own eyes until recently. The Tower Society existed throughout the world with branches in some major cities to try to protect the rest of the world, the London Branch being the strongest, lead by Julius Harway. As the trio sped through the woods strange fae folk narrowed in, new explorers to prey on had entered the ring.

"What's that?" Yue asked when the first one appeared, stepping in front of them. It was small, looking like something between a goblin and a cupid, with a big ugly cute smile on its face. "Friends!" It exclaimed, raising its arms. More appeared to block Rain's path. "Friends!" The fae chorus called out to the three of them. "Tea? Friends want tea?" Yue glanced curiously at Rain, wondering what she would say. The moon girl knew that fae folk had special rules about them, for example you were supposed to never thank one, that was one of Zinnia's first lessons. Apparently, you were not supposed to wipe snot on the Elder Tree, either.

Rain growled though, indicating that this was not some innocent adventure anymore. "Skalpers." Rain hissed, shaking her head, trying now to turn back but more of the strange creatures appeared behind them, raising their arms and calling them friends. "They surround people lost in the woods and they're never seen again." Suddenly Yue was very afraid. "Wh-what do we do?" They were offering a tea party and Rain shook her head. "I - I don't remember! There's so many fae folk I don't remember all the rules!" The bat demon exclaimed. "I'm a demon, not a fae!" She was starting to panic, which in turn was making Yue panic, gripping her wand. "Zinnia, we're sorry." She cried. "Please save us!" Rain nodded, hissing protectively. "We'll never not listen to you again, we're sorry!"

Zinnia could feel herself slipping, she was surprised that Rain could carry both herself, a dead weight, and Yue on her back. Suddenly the slipping stopped, Rain had shifted part of her body into a chair. No longer needing to expand energy, Zinnia found herself feeling a bit more awake. They were traipsing through the fog, the two of them as gleeful as a pair of sprites discovering moss on a mushroom. "We need to turn back," Zinnia pressed, but it seemed that the two were past listening. It was a good thing Zinnia had cast that tracking charm, no doubt Blithe was hot in their tail. She rubbed at her eyes, looking around in an attempt to orient herself, but Zinnia had never been this deep into the woods and for good reason. A certain type of pixie lived here, the more evil species of fae that preyed on those who came too close.

Skalpers, they poked their little noses out of the thicket, their wings flapping as they emerged, their wicked forms bent and grotesque from years of living in the fog. It seemed that Rain too, had at last recognized the danger they were in. Zinnia only wished she could say she had told them so. The two of them pleaded with her to save them, having dawned upon the two of them at last. "Alright, alright." Zinnia sighed, flipping her hair over her shoulder. She grabbed her wand out of its holster, her eyes almost seeming to glow in the darkness. The Skalpers were attracted to the sounds of laughter and fun, it only made sense considering whom they would kidnap.

"Entelior!" Vines grew from the tip of her wand, shooting forward to whip at the creatures. They dodged, tricksy little beasties, and darted towards them. "Fremellius!" Flames joined the mix, the Skalpers yelping as they were hit. "There you are!" A voice chimed, jumping into the ring. Blithe's sword appeared in her hands, she swung it around, cutting wings and knocking fae off of their feet. "You two shouldn't have run off like that! Zinnia you should have stopped them!" Blithe said as flames licked her body, illuminating the murky fog. Her form was vibrant, the skalpers jumping back into the bushes in order to avoid getting caught. Blithe grabbed one by its foot, her tail dragging it forward, she licked her lips hungrily, her intent clear. "Blithe, no," Zinnia chided.

"Just one, I haven't tasted fae blood in centuries." Zinnia shook her head, she supposed she could look the other way just this once. "Let's return to the lake," Blithe was done quickly. She wiped the blood off of her face and used one of the bones to pick her teeth. Of course Zinnia had to indulge her familiar every so often, she didn't want Blithe to get testy. It wasn't often that Blithe ate living things, mostly dead ones anyhow, but skalpers were evil pixies and they needed to be taught a lesson. They had lost many a mage to the slimes.

Yue didn't want to be trapped drinking tea in a foggy tea party for the rest of her life! How could she possibly get her just revenge if she couldn't even escape the trap of the Skalpers? Rain was afraid as well, she did not know how to fight them. Rain was still regaining her strength, while she was strong she couldn't fight this many enemies at once. Zinnia, ever calm and in control, knew what to do and began to fight, slinging her spells like an expert. "I'll cover for you two!" The bat demon cried, scratching at any fae that tried to get too close to the trio. Eventually Blithe caught up and by then it was game over, the fox demon choosing to eat one as a prize, picking her teeth with a tiny bone.

Yue stared at Zinnia and Blithe, in awe as their teamwork. They worked so well together while she and Rain hardly did anything at all. "Don't worry, Master!" Rain looked her in the eyes, leathery wings hugging her as if they were arms. "With practice we can be like that too!" Zinnia just looked so beautiful as she cast her magic, so elegant, like a princess of lights. The fight was over and they were now free to go, safe from the vicious fae folk. From Yue's experience it was always safer to just avoid them forever. Rain absently took a Skalper eye, scooping it from a dead enemy. "For a potion." Rainarch said with a secretive smile. Was she already going back to her silly antics? "What kind of potion?" Her demon grinned, almost bouncing as they began the trek back to the lake. "A draught of hunger!"

A draught of hunger? What kind of potion was that? "Why do you want to make that?" Yue asked once they were clear of the woods, curious and confused both. Suddenly Rain poked her in the belly, and then poked Zinnia too. "Because you two are both too skinny! You need more meat on your bones!" Whined Rain, was probably the lightest of them all considering she was made out of mist. "But I do have meat." Yue's body was lightly toned, you could see a hint of muscle definition that was a result of her life of crime. Zinnia however looked like a beautiful dainty twig, something to be admired for its perfection.

Already the sun was past midday, it would only be a few hours left before the sky began to burn amber, ready to start the night. How long had they spent at the lake? "Thank you for taking us to the lake, Zinnia." Yue told her mentor with an almost shy smile, wringing her hands behind her back. "Um... do you want me and Rain to help cook dinner tonight?" As payback for causing trouble and making a mess as they always did.

Blithe burned the blood off of her, lifting her Master off of the forest floor and placing Zinnia on her shoulders. "Let's go back to the lake," she led the way, a tail steadying Zinnia. The witch twirled a strand of hair around her finger, watching as Rain dislodged an eye from the socket of one of the skalpers. Yes, their bones, blood, and ligaments could be used for various potions, powerful ones, forbidden ones. Zinnia had no use for their body parts, she would let them rot like the monsters they were. "Let this be a lesson, Yue. There are all kinds of magical creatures, some good, some having ill intentions. This is why the rules are in place, to protect both the magic and none magical folk." Zinnia lectured, releasing her hair from her finger.

Yue inquired what the eye was for, Zinnia figured it's intent was supposed to be some kind of strange demon ritual, rather, it seemed that Yue had the desire to concoct a potion o her own. Demons knew how mix potions, they had a magic of their own that was still mysterious to the mage-kind. "A hunger potion?" Zinnia quirked a brow, uncertain as to what Rain's intentions were with that. It seemed her desire was to fatten them up, made obvious by the fact that she prodded Yue and Zinnia both. Zinnia frowned, her small size was in a large part due to how much energy it took to do daily activities, her heart was constantly pumping harder than the normal human's and yet, was still slow.

"I have no need for hunger," Zinnia flipped her hair over her shoulder, turning her nose up towards the sky. "I feed on the energies of others," she was kidding of course. Blithe laughed, the joke no doubt passing over the other's heads considering Zinnia's monotony. "It seems we've wasted too much time fooling around, by the time we reach our belonging we'll need to return home," Blithe was following the tracking trail, using their scent to go back in the direction they had come in. Yue thanked her for bringing them to the lake, her special reprieve from the world. There was a small, genuine smile on her face. "You're very welcome, please keep in mind, Lolly must remain secret."

They offered to cook dinner, an odd thing considering it was all made with magic. "If you'd like to try, I won't stop you." They had reached the edge of the forest, their belongings in sight. Zinnia shivered, she had grown cold, wearing nothing but her bathing suit in a foggy forest. The sun was kind to them, shining its rays down onto their prone bodies, exuding warmth. "Let's gather our things," they had to make haste if they wanted to return to the city before dark.
